Tara and Alice were always closer than anyone else in the group even Alice's girlfriend, the girls didn't know why they were so close, it just happened one day if Alice was there Tara wasn't far behind and vice versa.

This was why Alice knew Sam's phone number by heart, just like Tara knows Sidney's. She didn't have a lot of opinions of Sam besides the fact she thought she was a little selfish leaving Tara all alone.

Alice knew why she had to get out being related to a killer and then it being kept secret from her, it had to be rough, but what she didn't get was why she cut off complete contact with Tara when Sam knew what type of home she left her in.

So Tara started staying at the Prescotts more often for two reasons, Tara didn't like being alone, and Alice didn't like Tara being alone like she was last night, normally she would be over but last night Tara wanted to head home to say bye to her mom before she left and get some clothes, and normally Alice would go with her, hang out without children and parents around for a little bit and then go back to Alice's house, but with her parents not home she couldn't go, so Tara went alone.

Now that everything happened made Alice feel so guilty, she had a bad feeling that she was just telling herself was nervous, she should've talked Tara into waiting until her parents came home so she could go with her, but that didn't happen and now she's calling Sam —well recalling Sam, hoping she'll answer this time.

"Come on, pick up the phone." She mumbled to herself when she finally heard it get picked up and the sound of Sam's voice. "What do you need, you've been spamming my phone?"

She takes a breath so she doesn't say what she wants to say if you had answered, why else besides Tara would I call you this many times or at all, but she doesn't because all that would start right now is a fight, and Tara doesn't need them fighting, so she says this.

"Sam, it's Tara."

"What happened?" She could hear the panic in Sam's voice. "She was attacked." Getting straight to the point, she need to get Sam here as soon as possible, and not just telling her would make it where she got her slower.

Sam started tripping over her words "Who — is." Alice cuts her off. "She's alive, but she's not doing good Sam you need to get here as soon as you can."

"Yeah, I'm on my way." Alice isn't surprised she would drop everything for Tara, Sam isn't a bad sister unlike some, Alice honestly thinks some part of Sam thought she was doing Tara a favor when she left. "Wait! Do they know who did this?"

Alice didn't want to tell her until she got here on the slight chance she wouldn't come. "It's better if I tell you when you get here."

"Alice, who attacked Tara?"

"It was a person in a Ghostface mask." Both knew the weight of her words.

"I'll be there as soon as I can." And then they hung up on each other.

Alice turned to look into Tara's room as she brought her phone down. "For Tara's sake, I hope you do." She says to herself, she's been doing that lately, she doesn't respond to the voice when people are around though, no need to worry anybody.

"So how are you going to protect Tara, how are you going to protect anyone AJ?" They're standing more like leaning by Tara's door which was closed, just in case she woke up and Alice was fighting with her sister, smirking at her, she doesn't even unknowledge the delusion, which makes it come closer to her standing right behind her and bend by ear. "Answer me AJ! What are you going to do to protect anyone."

"Kill them, just like I killed you." Alice finally looks up to the voice, to the person who ruined her life and gives them a hard look and all they do back is smirk. What pulls her away is the sound of erratic beeping coming from Tara's room, and nurses running in to see what's wrong, all she could hear with the commotion is a muted. "She's awake!" Alice let out a sigh of relief she's been holding in since the phone call, she's going to be okay.

She went into the room as soon as the doctors told her she could. "Hey, Tara." She said softly to not startle Tara, because no matter how strong you wanted to be after you'll always get jumpier afterward.

Tara flinched and looked up from her hands to see Alice, and in a rough voice that was filled with relief at seeing the other girl. "Ali."

Alice turned her head towards the chair beside her bed, slightly asking if she could move closer, which got her a nod, so she walked closer and sat down while Tara watched her move.

"You look like shit." Alice looked up at her, it's not like she was wrong she did look like shit, her hair was messy from her running her hand in it, and her clothes were the first thing she saw this morning, she was pretty sure the top she's wearing is a nightshirt, but Alice saw what she was doing, and if this is what Tara wanted—needed, Alice is going to do it.

"Me? Look at you!"

"I have a reason, I was stabbed!!" Tara laughed before she realized what she said and cleared up the laughter and said in a broken sob. "Ali, I almost died last night."

"I know, but you survived." Tara needs to know she's not a victim. She's a survivor and the only way this son of a bitch was going to kill her is if they kill Alice first. "You're a survivor."

"I almost didn't." She looks like she's on the edge of tears, which makes Alice on the verge of tears.

"I know, and I'm really glad you're alive, and you're going to stay that way, I promise." She means it, Tara's going to survive this if it's the last thing she does. They give each other soft looks before they're a knock on the door and people are coming in.

Their friends, which includes Alice's girlfriend who she smiles softly at each other before Chad speaks up. "How can you be getting better when you have to look at allycat.?"

She and Chad make fun of each other, maybe it was because when she joined the cheer team, and he joined the basketball team and the rumors of them going to date were so bad they got asked every day that they decided they were going to make fun of each other so bad people thought they hated each other
—which people did. Though neither would ever admit but it deep down they care for each other.

"At least I'm not the face of nightmares."

"Stop!! That was when we were thirteen and it wasn't her nightmare it was just dark!" he whined and stop his foot.

"Whatever you say." She sees Tara smile at them, so making fun of Chad is worth it.

"You guys believe me right?" he turns to look at the group, but they just look away to go with it, even his sister Mindy. "Minds?" But she comically turns her head even more, which makes Chad let out a scoff. "Fuck you guys."

They all laugh at him, even Tara which makes Alice feel better about what's going to happen. Amber comes over to her to lean down, wraps her arms around her, and kisses the side of her head before turning her head to her girlfriend's best friend. "How are you feeling Tara?"

"Sore."

They all look at her with pity in their eyes, besides for Alice all Tara can find in her eyes are sympathy and what she thinks is understanding, whatever it is it makes her feel relief that somehow Alice understands, which isn't unusual Alice at some degree always understands what's going on in her head, so not for the first time she's glad she has Alice Prescott in her life.

"Has anyone called Sam?" Comes from Wes, who besides Tara and Amber is Alice's favorite person, who also secretly likes Tara.

"I did, says she's on her way," Alice says as she looked over at Tara. "Hope that was okay."

"You have her number for a reason." Tara grabs Alice's hand and weakly squeezes it. "Thank you, Ali."

"Of course." Alice squeezes back.

Sam shows up an hour later with a boy that admittedly makes her scrunch up her face in disgust, she later finds out is named Richie, which who names their kid that, which later she'll blames it on the no sleep but she says that out loud.

"My full name is Richard." He says as he scrunches up his face at her.

Him speaking up makes her realize that she said and turned her head to look around the room at everyones faces just incase he can read minds, and his the one that embarrassed himself, but by the shit eating grin on Chad alone tell her she said it out loud. "I'm so sorry!"

"No it's okay, i don't even like my name and the only reason i go by Richie is because of my sister."

Thankfully Tara speaks up. "Can you guys give me and Sam a minute?" They all start say some version of yes and going towards the door to leave.
