chapter twelve,

angels of death

    Davina felt her own heart simply pounding itself out of  her own chest, it was as if it was just clawing it's way out as she quickly released herself from his tight yet also soft grip, "Get out of here, Chad!" She yelled at him, instantly shoving him away.

   Three of them somehow managed to escape from the apartment, yet the door was very still open. It was as if this masked killer was waiting for her, or one of these two to just re-enter the apartment.

   He pressed his lips on a thin line, his hands attempting to grip on hers to drag her with him out to safety, "Davina —"

   He was quickly interrupted by her pressing her lips onto his soft lips, hands tugging on the hem of his shirt before releasing her lips from his, "I love you, but please don't be hovering over me — Go, and get help, please?" She had pushed him away from her, once again and had ultimately just disappeared from his view.

He was panicking.

Yet, so was she and all their friends.

The moment that she had re-entered the apartment her face ultimately paled, Ghostface had her cousin pinned onto the wall and was to simply be seen dragging the knife upwards, so out of her instinct she herself without any sort of weapons ran up behind the masked killer, as she sneered at them, "Get your fucking hands off her, you freak!" She yanked the figure away from her cousin, and just landing a punch on this masked killers face who had taken a couple steps backwards after being startled by one of Davina's little outbursts.

   Anika who sobbed in immense pain, and speaking in between sobs, "V— Vina?" Her eyes were just blurry from her crying, speaking back to her cousin, again, "You shouldn't of - of ever came back inside, V-Vina it was a very horrible mistake." Her lips had just simply quivered the more she spoken.

  "I'm not leaving here without you, Anika – " Davina had barely managed to even finish her sentence and had barely made any damn steps to approach her cousin, as she ultimately felt a harsh yank on the back of her ponytail that had made her hiss in pain, "Ahh!" She screamed in pain from the grip.

A very disoriented voice, the usual voice when he calls her had tauntingly spoken to her, and right beside her ear, "She's not making it out of here alive —" The figure swung his arm around her waist to trap her, Davina's eyes widened in horror when noticing the knife only to let out a sharp scream as it was dug into her abdomen, taunting her more, "So, be a good girl and wait for the grand finale!" He was just twisting and digging the knife deeper into her abdomen.

   Davina had just screwed her eyes shut, immensely trying to block the pain away before she turned her own head around, eyes blinking and focusing her own attention onto the arm that was closest to her, and out of instinct bit onto it, harder and harder.

   She felt the figure squirming until they shoved her away, sneering, "Crazy bitch!"

   Davina practically laughed, wiping her own saliva that was just on the corner of her mouth before she instantly limped her way towards her cousin who was still conscious, her arms were just quickly wrapping around her cousins waist, "Come on, Ani. You think that you can still walk?" She felt so stupid for asking, but it was her immediate concern as if she — herself hadn't gotten stabbed, but her cousins wounds were worst.

A very familiar voice booming had captured both girls attention, Sam who was just simply yelling at the masked killer who's attention was still on soothing his arm, "Hey!" He turned his head not aware of the girl who swung an empty knives set onto him, and knocking him down to the ground.

Anika stumbled with her words, "Yeah — I think so?" She was still unsure, and beginning to limp herself with the support her cousin who was slightly limping her own self.

The sudden approach of Mindy who was helping her with Anika, as Davina decided to sarcastically speak, "You couldn't of helped us earlier? You only got a little slice on your arm, you that much of a pussy?" She had spat at the meeks girl, she didn't mean to lash out, but her cousin was getting brutally attacked and Mindy remained on the ground.

Mindy was flabbergasted, "I — I"

Anika groaned out, "My head is killing me, quit argu-ing." She painfully gritted out as the four girls entered the bedroom, all while Sam had immediately closed and had locked up the door.

The three teenage girls had practically sat themselves onto the bed, "I swear Chad better have called the cops!" Davina wheezed out, and applied pressure onto her abdomen to stop any blood to continuing coming out.

"Mhm," Mindy and Anika agreed.

   The sound of just banging had ultimately startled the four girls, Samantha who applied more pressure onto the door, so the killer has no access to push inside — The banging had just ultimately came into a stop as that lowered down the girls guards except for Sam's.

   "Did they leave?" Davina had nervously swallowed her own saliva, with her own hand intertwined with her cousins who was leaning her head onto her shoulder.

   Sam had slowly twisted her entire body around, eyes widening in pure horror, "Mindy, the backdoor. Lock the back door." That was all it had taken for Mindy to force herself up from the bed, and make her way out to lock the back door.

   "I don't want to diee, Vina," Anika sadly whispered to her cousin who had immediately shook her head, "You're not going to die, Ani. Don't say nonsense." She reassured her cousin.

   Except, Anika had this really bad irking feeling that she was. She was going to die at a young age, and she had promised her cousin that she wasn't ever going to leave her — She made that promise on the day of her cousins moms funeral.

The very sound of Mindy just yelling ultimately captured their attention, "Oh, fuck! A dead body, a dead body!" The fear in her voice was clearly evident until it turned into a fear of screaming.

The two girls had noticed Samantha who quickly ran to aid Mindy, as the two instantly noticed them re-entering the room, door just slamming shut, Mindy's panic voice speaking to Sam, "We need something stronger to hold onto the door." The masked killer was just to be forcefully banging onto the door.

Sam immediately dragged a drawer for support to hold the door with Mindy applying her own pressure until Sam had noticed Danny from across the window, "What the fuck." She had made her way over, discussing about how to get on over to the other side.

Ultimately, coming to terms that this probably is the only way out, "Mindy, you go first." She spoken that confused all three girls who weren't focusing on the conversation.

"Huh?"

"Crossing the ladder to get into Danny's complex, and then we continue until we're all on the other side," She had given a quick run down."

"Quit fucking arguing, and go —" Davina sneered, she was just loosing patience, "Anika is loosing a lot of blood, so quit arguing and get your fucking ass on the ladder, Sam!" Her eyes just fumed in anger.

She was angry because they were taking forever, and here her cousin is just practically losing blood.

"Please, just say something more positive, Vina!" Anika cried out.

Sam exhaled her breath and immediately began getting onto the ladder, she had just felt slight hesitation at first, but continued her own way to the other side.

Sam yelling out, "Anika, come on!"

Davina immediately supported her cousin who was making it difficult to stand up, "What are you doing, Anika? Come on, let's get you to safety." Davina rambled out.

"I can't — I can't." Anika's bottom lip quivered, she hates heights. She can't do this.

Mindy had came to support her girlfriend, hands placing onto her shoulder, "You have to go, you have to go." She attempted to convince her.

The door was pounding louder, with the drawer beginning to fall.

Anika practically shook her own head, speaking in a rush, "No, Mindy. I'll be right behind Davina and you." She promised both girls.

Promises can be broken.

Anika's never broken a promise before.

Mindy had immediately pulled her girlfriend into a kiss, all while Davina was simply wishing her boyfriend was right beside her, but she felt at ease to know that he's safe not inside of this apartment.

   All while, Mindy was crossing the ladder it was giving enough time for the girls to prepare onto who's going next, but Davina was going to make her cousin go before her, and just as she could possibly speak, Anika had just beaten her to it, "Davina, promise me something?" Anika
sniffled out.

   "Anything?" Davina was supporting her cousin, arm wrapping around her waist to keep her steady.

   "That you're going to be okay, Vina. You're going to be okay. Promise me that, Okay?" She felt a tear dribbling down her eye, lips were just to be quivering when her eyes focused onto her cousins facial expression.

   Davina's bottom lip practically quivered, voice cracking as she spoken, "I'm never going to be okay without you, so please go first?" She practically begged her cousin who nodded her head, and just getting herself onto the ladder with Davina still just standing inside of the apartment.

   "Come on, Anika. You got this!" Sam reassured the girl.

   Anika who shook her head hysterically, she didn't like this, "Oh god, I can't do it. I can't do it." She was panicking.

   Davina who was encouraging her cousin, calmly speaking to her, "Yes, you can. You can do it, Anika." She praised her cousin, she that heights are her greatest fears, but she had to do this to survive.

   She can't loose, her.

   Anika's the only family she has.

   The sound of the drawer landing onto the ground immediately captured her attention — Face paling at who was standing right before her own eyes, "Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" She had just easily whispered to her own self.

   The three people who were across from them felt their eyes just widening, as their expression seemed to capture Anika's attention, "What?" She had nervously exhaled.

   Mindy's voice just boomed very loudly, with concern also just laced in her voice, "Anika, you have to move right now, and Davina you have to get onto the ladder, like now!" She worriedly told the girls.

   The masked figure had immediately ran towards Davina, and slamming her entire body onto the ground that left her almost losing her breath at the unexpected attack, with her head just starting to be banged profoundly onto the ground, "You ready to let out a scream of the night?" His disoriented voice was echoing in her ears.

   "Fuck you." Davina had sneered, hands attempting to clutch onto his mask only to let out a piercing scream when the knife was now to be stabbing her on the shoulder.

   The disoriented voice chuckled, with it's head to be leaning down, once again, "How does it feel to not only become the next angel of death, like your Aunt, but cracking like your father?" He had pulled his own head away from her, he immediately stood himself up, lastly making contact with his foot onto her head and harshly slamming her down onto the ground, again.

   Her vision was just cloudy, eyes roaming around the room and struggling to get back up, noises in her head echoing — echoing as if they were really from her, she didn't even hear the screams.

   The screams of her cousin.

The screams of Mindy.

She didn't know Anika Kayoko is now dead.

   Davina mumbling to her own self after steadying herself, her hands placing onto the ground for support, "Ani — Ani"

   A scream erupted from her lips after the masked killer had harshly stepped onto her hand, "Ahh!" She had let out a loud piercing scream.

"Now there's only one of you, Kayoko's." It was the last thing she heard from the disoriented voice. She wasn't really understanding as the figure vanished.

Davina felt her vision slowly coming back, and the echoing didn't sound like echoing no more, "Davina?" Sam's voice rung into her own head, as the three from across noticed Davina getting up and holding onto her abdomen and her other on her right shoulder.

Davina blinked her eyes, "Where's, Ani?"

She slowly began to approach towards the window only for the two girls across from her to shout in panic, "No. Davina, don't come any closer." She noticed the saddened and guilt on all three of them.

Davina had just easily ignored them and continued making her own way towards the window, with her eyes lowering down and she ultimately let out a very piercing scream with a mixture of sobs. This just felt so damn unreal — This couldn't be real.

Her entire head was sticking out of the window, vision blurred up with the memory of her now dead cousin just carving it's way onto her head to taunt her, "She should've gone first — She should've gone first."
