When Rowan had been taken to the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, people had thought she was a witch. They could all sense the power radiating of the young girl, but the problem was that she showed no other signs of it. She was unable to use the magic they thought she had.

Mister Saltzman decided to let one of his daughters tutor Rowan in magic, hoping it would help her in her magic. Both Josie and Rowan hated it at first, but it surprised both of them that they could actually get along well.

A friendship began to blossom between the girls, but it stopped when Josie began dating one of the best witches of the school, Penelope. For unknown reasons, Rowan began feeling bad, she felt like Josie hated her for not being able to use her power.

When a new werewolf comes to the school with his human friend, the girls are forced to work together once again.
