Harper POV

Me and Elyse were giggling girlishly about Johnny asking me out when I saw 2 young men in tailored suits taking luggage to a black limousine, a lot of luggage. Was someone moving out? Impossible, that nearly never happened. Elyse nudged me and pointed at them,

'' Now what do they think they're doing?'' One man turned around, acknowledging her question.

'' We're helping Mr. Darkwell transfer. ''

'' Transfer dorms?'' I asked, incredulous. But he had the best dorm in the whole school!

'' No miss,'' he corrected me, '' Changing schools.''

My mouth fell open. What?! No,this is impossible. Elyse's happy expression morphed into a frown. A incomprehensible emotion flooded her face as she took steps back. She was muttering to herself ' it can't be ' over and over again, her gaze fixed on the luggage. I placed my hand on her back reassuringly as she fliched, wrapping her hands over herself.

'' It's can't be.'' She whispered hoarsely. know Adrian and her are close, but I still shocked to see how much. I looked around nervously. I heard a phone ring and saw Elyse pick up.

'' Hello?'' She answered, he face lighting up when she heard the caller's voice. '' Adrian! Is it true you're changing schools?'' Her face darkened. '' No, there must be something you can do!'' She paused, listening to him explain himself. '' Oh, ok. See you then.''

'' What did he say?'' I coaxed after she hung up.

'' He wants me to see him before he leaves.'' She said. '' At the train station.''

'' A train station? Is he going to go far?''

'' At about 20 minutes away before Analyt Corp works their problems out.'' She sighed deeply. '' How come everyone I get close to goes away?''

I didn't know what to do, seeing Elyse like this. I just continued to pat her back kindly.

It was 11:30 pm when I arrived at the train station. It was maybe the last time I'd see Adrian again for possibly a long time. It was empty and the last trains were arriving with passengers, each wearing the same worn out expressions of a late shift.

I saw Tristan sitting down on a bench. My stomach knotted itself while I looked at his bloodshot eyes, the reminder of what I did. He caught my eye and to my defeat, he looked away, barely acknowledging me. Damn that hurt.

He looked at his watch impatiently as I heard a familiar voice.

'' Glad you came!'' Adrian greeted with a lopsided smile. He had bags under his eyes and his hair was a mess, yet the sheer sight of him made my heart flutter.

'' Adrian!'' I rushed to him and clasped my arms around his neck, snuggling in his chest while I felt his breath on my ear.

'' God, it's nice to see you.'' He breathed.

He started to kiss my cheek when a loud cough interrupted us. '' Excuse you.'' Said Tristan, pushing me off Adrian harshly, pain flashing in is eyes. '' Hey buddy.'' He and Adrian shook hands. '' So this is it?''

'' Yes, it is.'' He said with a sad smile.

The billboard announced the next train would be arriving in 5 minutes. That's all I had left to convince him to stay. I tried to persuade him, pleaded him, trying to find a way it could work out but he knew it was in vain, and a part of me did too.

'' It's going to be alright.'' He muttered, stroking my cheek with with his finger, making a tear fall. No, this isn't right.

'' Stay.'' I whispered weakly.

'' You know that's not possible.''

'' Why does this have to be this way?'' I exhaled in disbelief. He opened his mouth to answer.

'' It's because of me, isn't it?'' I turned around rapidly and saw Ace leaning on a wall. He started walking up to us when Adrian seethed.

'' You.''

Anger flashed in his eyes as he abruptly stood up.

'' Let me explain.'' Said Ace calmly. But the fire in Adrian burned even harder.

'' What is there to explain?'' He bellowed. '' This cost me my heritage, my family, my brother. This forced me to move out of my school for fuck's sake!''

He slammed Ace's chest in frustration and to my surprise, Ace didn't even try to defend himself. He let himself get pushed around some more, feeding Adrian's anger. He poked him provocatively. '' You think I can just forgive you?'' He poked him again, this time harder. '' After you used me?''

'' Stop,'' I ordered. '' Stop now, Adrain!''

But he kept right on. '' What?'' He fumed. '' That lying traitor will get what he deserves!'' He punched him in the face strenuously. Ace stumbled backwards, blood seeping from his mouth and his eyes fixed on the floor.

'' Woah man.'' Tristan cautioned, slowly removing Adrian away. But he just pushed Tristan off him.

'' Stay out of this.'' He warned.

This was madness. I know Adrian lost everything, his whole future was uncertain but Ace had nothing to do with it!

'' Adrian, stop.'' I pleaded, my once quavering with fear.

'' Let him.'' Ace said, wiping the blood from his mouth. '' I deserve this.''

'' No...'' I mouthed as Ace held his hands in defeat.

Adrian punched him more, blinded by anger. Ace was grunting and even though he looked deeply hurt, he didn't even protest. He let the punches come.

That's enough. I lunged and got hold of Adrian's arm. He started at me, shocked. '' Adrian, I won't repeat myself again. '' I threatened. '' Stop this madness now.''

He breathed hard, his chest rising rapidly as tears fell down his face. '' He took everything from me.'' He murmured.

Ace's face flashed with pain as he hung his head. '' It wasn't-''

'' Your fault? Who's name is on my damn company?'' He took a step towards Ace as he took one step back, getting closer to the ledge leading to the rails. '' Who's name is on the news saying they sued me?!'' He approached and Ace retreated, passing the warning line. A pang of fear it me'' Who's damn fault is it-'' he fumed while Ace tried to back again.

But he slipped, falling backwards into the rails. He whimpered as he stood up, trying to pull himself out. But he couldn't. My heart filled with panic as I held my hand out to him,

'' Hold on!'' I called, tears making my vision blurry.

I felt his hand clasp mine as I struggled, trying to pull him up. My heart drummed in my chest as I felt my hands damped. No, Ace needs to get out of here. I pulled with all my might, until my arms felt sore.

'' The next train will be arriving in 1 minute.'' A robotic voice announced.

'' Hurry!'' I urged, anxiety taking control of me. His hands made way to the ledge as he tried to get himself up, but fell with a pang!on the rails. He grunted as he weakly got up, trying once more.

My breathing became uneven while I saw the rails shake. The train was coming. Lights blared in the tunnel.

'' The next train will be arriving in 30 seconds. All passengers prepare to embark.''

I frantically held my hand deeper, my fingers spread wide.

'' Ace!'' I prodded.

'' It's no use.'' He said, out of breath.'' Go or you'll get hurt.''

He gave me a soft smile while bitter tears fell on my face.

'' Ace...'' I pleaded. I knew it was nearly impossible to get him out, but I could bear the thought of losing him. The rumble of the rails became harder as tried to catch his balance but fell. The lights shined in his face.

'' Ace, ACE!'' I screamed while the train whooshed past, the air pulling me back. I felt the strong wind hit my face. Droplets of blood stained the ledge.

My world stopped. '' This isn't happening'', I tried to persuade myself.'' Ace is still here.'' His face appeared into my head. His kind smile. The blood popped into my head as I stood horrified. '' He's still alive!'' I whispered desperately as I saw the droplets once more.

'' I-I -'' Adrian stammered but his voice faded away.

Reality stabbed me like a knife. He was gone forever.

No, no, it can't be. Not Ace, no.

'' No...'' I whispered, tears streaming on my face, not feeling them at all. I felt numb. I felt empty.

I collapsed on the floor, sobbing, trying to remove that hole in me. My Ace. The pain in my chest was unbearable as I let it all go.

My cry of pure anguish.
