"WAIT A MINUTE..."
Y/N stopped on the stairs after hearing the voice. The cold wind was brushed through her legs making her shiver a little. She turned around and saw Mikey running down the stairs, making his way to her.
Why...? Don't come to me...
She wanted to walk away but her legs weren't obeying her commands. She stood there and waited for Mikey to come towards her and speak something. She knows that her heart yearns for him and wants him to be close but her mind says the opposite. It tells her to move on and live a completely different life. And between this quarrel of her heart and brain, she is lost. She wants someone to bring her on the right path.
Mikey stopped and took deep breaths. She could feel her whole body relax just by his presence and this was something that confused her. She didn't know what made her feel so affectionate towards him. When was the first time she felt that she loved him? What was the moment that made her fall for him? Why is he still in her thoughts even after having a fight? She didn't know the answer to any of these questions.
"You dropped your phone over there."
The imaginary world that Y/N was living in came to an end. Her thoughts were clear and the realization that it wasn't Mikey who ran towards her, broke her heart. It was someone else.
She took her phone from the male's hands and bowed to him "Thanks."
I was imagining him?
She placed her hand on her heart "I feel unsettled..."
I should talk to someone...
---
"What happened this time?" Sumire asked.
Y/N stayed silent. She knew that Sumire would be shocked to know that she was confused about her feelings towards Mikey but right now there wasn't anyone else she could vent her thoughts to.
"It's...about Mikey--"
Sumire shifted uncomfortably on the sofa "What about him?"
"The more I try to avoid him... The more we keep facing each other and it confuses me... My heart races up... Do I still have feelings for him--?"
"Y/N... Everyone feels this way after a breakup. It's normal. It will take time for you to move on from him after all, you have known him for 10 years. It's a lot, so give it some time and you'll be happy enough to start a fresh new life."
Sumire placed her hand on Y/N's shoulder trying to calm her and give her comfort. "I met him an hour ago. A friend of mine suggested visiting a calm place so I decided to go to a place where Mikey once took me. And it's...the place where...we confessed and coincidentally I saw him there."
Sumire stiffened her jaw "He was there?"
Y/N hummed as a response.
"That's the problem Y/N. You shouldn't have visited that place in the first place. When you trying to move on from a person you should erase all their memories. If you stick on to those memories then it'll be more difficult to let go of them."
Y/N frowned lightly and looked at Sumire with the corner of her eye. Sumire's expressions and words weren't in sync. She looked angry.
"How is he doing?" Y/N asked.
"See!! You are again shifting your mind towards him. Just leave him already."
"Sumire... Why are you in Kanto Manji?"
Sumire raised her eyebrows "What do you mean?"
Y/N leaned on the sofa and looked at her "I mean... I heard that you had a fight with Kaito and Ren and after that, you went your own ways but there is something that's troubling me. You were in the delinquent world only for me. You stayed because I asked you to. So, when I left everything behind and went to Canada, why didn't you end everything and go on to live a normal life?"
Sumire gulped at the sudden question that was being asked to her.
"Why did you decide to follow Mikey? You didn't even know anyone apart from the members of Dark Angels. So, following someone you don't know is a bit confusing"
"You answered your own question. I didn't know anyone but since I stayed with Toman for a while, I decided to follow him."
Y/N nodded at her response. "You aren't hiding anything from me right?"
Sumire's muscles tensed up and she avoided eye contact "N-No..."
Y/N smiled and patted her shoulder "Ok"
After the conversation, Sumire was extremely uncomfortable. "uh- Y/N-- I just remembered that I had some work to get done. I should get going."
"Sure. Thanks for coming and listening to me."
Sumire grabbed her coat and made her way to the door but her legs stopped after hearing Y/N's words.
"I thought we didn't have any secrets between us. I told you things that I didn't even share with Mikey even when I was closer to him as compared to you."
Sumire turned and saw Y/N leaning on a wall with hands in her pocket. "You should've told me that you like him."
---
"How did you find out?" Sumire asked as she awkwardly shifted on the sofa.
"When you were telling me about how I should move on from him you sounded a bit angry and I also happened to glance over to your phone that was on the coffee table. It flashed after a notification popped up and my eyes caught your lock screen which surprisingly had a picture of Mikey. So, that was the reason why I asked you about your reason to follow him after I was gone."
"I feel terrible Y/N."
"Why?"
"At first I was just attracted towards him. It... Happened when there was a declaration of the fight between Toman and Dark Angels."
Y/N nodded and took a sip of her cold drink "Ah... That day."
"Then day after day as I noticed him more I started to feel something for him. He was always so kind towards his friends and gang mates. He was charming too."
Y/N squeezed the beer can a little as she heard Sumire's words. "You knew that I liked him right?" She asked with a smile.
"Yes and that's the reason I didn't tell you about it. I didn't want to hurt you so I just watched from the background but then one day you left..."
"And that's when you thought that you could get closer to him."
"R-Right..."
Y/N ran her hand through her hair and leaned on the sofa as she stared at the rotating fan. "Sumire... I don't know why but I feel jealous. Because... That day when I met him at the hideout-- he said he loved someone else."
Sumire's eyes widened "He- He said that?!"
"Yes, he did, and after hearing your side of the story... I feel that... It's you."
Silence surrounded them. The friendship that Sumire and Y/N seemed to be fading away as time passed but Y/N didn't want that to happen. Friends are someone she doesn't want to lose anymore.
She placed her hand on Sumire's shoulder and smiled at her "You should make a move."
"What are you saying?"
Y/N sighed "I told you that I don't want to get back to him right? Then I will stick to my words. I'll step aside. Right now, I am confused so just think that I don't have feelings for him."
"But Y/N..."
"Eh... Don't worry about me, it'll take time but I'll suppress my feelings. After all, you've helped me a lot so I can do this much for you"
"Are you sure?"
"Yup!! Take care of him..."
---
Y/N felt a sense of relief after cold air coming out of the AC's installed at the ceiling hit her face when she entered the supermarket. The change in temperature relaxed her. She grabbed a trolley walked further as she glanced at the different rows of products perfectly categorized.
After having a talk with Sumire, she didn't leave her house for five days and now here she was in the supermarket after she ran out of stuff to eat. She ignored her calls and she spent her day sleeping and thinking about random things.
She looked at the shelf with many different ramens and thought about which one to get. They were of different brands and flavors so it was a difficult decision. She picked up a packet and flipped it to see the price "That's-...expensive!" She mumbled. As much as she hated to keep it back, she had no other choice. Her parents wouldn't send her money unless it's important so she needed to think before she spend it.
"Guess, I'll have to buy the cheap one." She cried on the inside.
Her shopping lasted for an hour. She brought some vegetables and fruits, few cans of soda and cold drinks along with some light snacks."
"Thank you for shopping with us." The cashier said as he handed her the handbag filled with the stuff she brought. Y/N smiled and exited the supermarket and a hot breeze hit her face making her groan. Since she didn't have a driver's license, she had to walk back home.
She squinted her eyes because of the harsh sunlight as she walked back home. Things were going fine until an old man caught her attention. He had a lot of stuff with him and he accidentally dropped them. Y/N jogged towards him and helped him pick up the oranges and apples that were rolled down the road.
"Thanks, my child." He said as he kept them back in his bag.
"No, it's fine," Y/N said. The man looked at her and her eyes widened at the familiar looks "Old man Sano?" She mumbled but then she slapped herself when she realized, that she sounded disrespectful. "I mean, grandpa Sano?"
"Ah... You're Y/N." He smiled and patted her head "You came back I see. How was your time in Canada?"
"It was...uh. Fine."
He proceeded to pick up his bags but Y/N stopped him "I'll help you take them to your house."
"No. It's fine. You have your own stuff too."
Y/N didn't listen to him and picked up his bags anyway. "Grandpa Sano, you taught my Dojo and you know I am strong right?"
He laughed "Yes, right. You are really strong."
Y/N had four bags with her as she walked down the road to Grandpa Sano's house. "How are you doing?" He asked.
"Let me be honest with you, I am struggling a bit. But it's only because I am living alone."
"You came here alone. I see... You will struggle a bit at first but you'll eventually learn how to be independent." He said as his eyes shifted down "I wonder if he is doing fine..." He mumbled.
"Who?"
"Mikey."
"I am sorry but I didn't understand your words. He lives with you right?"
He had a sad look on his face as he shook his head. "No, he doesn't. He left that house a long time ago and I haven't seen him for a year. I don't know if he is doing fine or not. You know he is hopeless in many different things. Like, cooking, washing his own clothes. He doesn't know a thing about taking care of himself. I miss him..."
Y/N could feel the sadness in his voice. Mikey was grandpa's pride ever since he was a kid and he left him alone. Y/N felt her heart crack as she heard small sobs from grandpa.
"You see... I lost all my grandchildren. First Shinichiro then Emma and now Mikey is also going away. They were my treasures and it didn't take long before they left." He glanced up at the sky "I miss everyone."
"I just want Mikey to return. I can't see my last grandchild drift away like this.
They stopped in front of grandpa's house. "Did you see him?" He asked.
"I-... No. I didn't have the time."
He nodded in understanding. "Y/N, can I ask you a favor?"
"Sure!"
"Bring him back," He said as a tear fell from his eye.
She was hesitant at first. She recalled his cold stare and words from the first meeting. But she didn't want grandpa Sano to be sad. She could hear the voices of different people.
Y/N, Mikey's future is dark... From Takemichi
Don't abandon him Y/N... From Kazutora
Bring him back... From Grandpa
He is your best friend right? Help him... From her old self
"I will," She said making grandpa smile.
---
Y/N entered the house and placed the bags on the dining table. That place was like her second home, having most of the childhood spent in that house playing with others before she was handed over the responsibility of her siblings.
She walked around the house, smiling as she recalled her memories. She walked to Emma's room which was really clean. The teddy bear that Draken gifted was sitting on top of her bed, there was a board hanging on the wall which had a lot of pictures of all her friends.
Y/N exited the room, closing the door behind her, and went to look for Grandpa. "Oh Y/N, I wanted to give you this." He said as he handed her an envelope. "What's this?" She asked as she went on to open it but stopped when grandpa answered.
"Mikey left it for you."
"He did?"
"Before leaving the house he told me to give it to you if you ever came here. I didn't read it because I thought it would contain things that were between you two. Read it once your home."
Y/N hummed "Ok"
"You should go now. It'll get late."
"Bye Grandpa."

I was reading this book and I really hate the first 10 chapters lmao. It has so many errors and I wrote those chapters in 1st person and explaining scenes in 1st person is really difficult so I thought about re-writing it...
Probably the worst decision I have ever made. I unpublished those 10 chapters and started editing them O_O! And guess what? It was taking me 1 hour per chapter, so I gave up lol. Sorry for the spam. Also, I think I should leave those chapters the way they are so that I can see how much I've improved my writing. After all, no one is a nice writer right from the beginning?
