𝐢𝐯. Emmett Cullen's characterization in fanfiction

Okay, okay, I haven't read much Emmett Cullen fic in a while, so I only knew him as the goofball one. But I skimmed through some Emmett fics now, so yeah, fic writers now write him as the bad boy one, WHICH IS SO FUNNY.

OKAY, let me get this out of the way. Every fic writer has the right on how they can write the characters. So please don't get offended if I say my opinion on this. My thoughts have been asked, and I shall answer.

There's a difference with an OOC depiction of a character that was well-written and explained at the beginning of the fic and has a consistent characterization throughout the book. Then there's a difference if it's just completely OOC, and everything makes sense when it comes to writing that character, like why is the character the way they are? Why did you write them that way?

I was skimming some fics either he's the bad boy and arrogant little shit, OR he completely took Jasper's mysterious vibe😭😭

That is sooooo wrong. THAT IS JASPER'S PERSONALITY DUDE. Don't take that away from our tortured blonde. That is Jasper's right passage in life not Emmett's.

Let Emmett be the funny guy, the understanding guy, the sarcastic guy, the girl's girl guy, the coquette supporter, that one guy in a girl's friend group who acts like he's gay, the gossiper, the one that everybody loves even in forks, the stereotypical jock at first glance but extremely goofy when you get to know him better.

LET HIM BE THE HAPPY GO LUCKY GUY THAT WE'VE ALWAYS KNOWN, like that's Emmett's character. But also, let him be the big brother, the understanding one, the one who doesn't judge, the one that the OC will go to when they accidentally murder someone and need someone to help them bury the body. Let him be an easygoing guy who knows when enough is enough.

Definitely, fanfics are changing the character's story without a development, at least. Hey, do what you want to do in your fics. Write what you want to write, how you want to write it, and how you want to write the characters. It's completely up to you. After all, I don't care if the character is OOC as long as it makes sense.

Because Emmett as a character is ALMOST a blank canvas, he became a vampire because he got killed by a bear LOL, Rosalie's devoted and simp husband, Emmett shitting on Edward, best friends with Jasper. You pretty much can create creative liberties with everything else. He's an amazing character already; he really stands out in the Cullens because of his carefree and easygoing character.

I feel like even the students at Forks love him. I might do character headcanons of them if I have the time. I can also put the background of Emmett Cullen from the Twilight Illustrated Guide if you want?
