isn't as easy as Isla makes it look. Well, technically it took her three years to keep Venom from taking over whenever she pleased. Even now, Venom still speaks to her, attempting to take over, but with help from Poppy she could regain control of herself.

Venom still had needs. Needs like nourishment. Needs like human brains. In early years Venom had attempted to eat Poppy a record number of times, fully taking over Isla's body and lunging towards the small girl.

However all her years of being a ballerina had paid off (and probably the increased agility that came with being bitten by a radioactive spider, whatever) she had dodged Venom's attacks for months, gracefully escaping her with life.

It was embarrassing to Isla really, that a child was the one helping her instead of the other way around but Poppy didn't seem to mind.

Isla should be concerned that being chased by an alien trying to eat her cerebrum would bother her but one thing she noticed about Poppy was she was very unbothered.

It might have been what made her and Hobie a good couple.

Isla twisted her key in the lock, until she heard a faint click. Balancing her brown paper bags into one hand, she used the other to twist the door knob, entering her apartment. "Alright Venom." She chirped as she flicked on the lights to the kitchen. "I bought a lot of food alternatives for you to try, but you have to promise to stop trying to take over and eat Love."

Isla tied her curly hair back into a ponytail as she turned on the sink, the sound of running water filled the empty room. Lathering her hand in the soft citrus hand soap, she continued, "I think she's been telling Miguel and it's not helping our relationship at all." "You have a relationship?" "Oh now you respond." Isla rolled her eyes turning off the tap. "You hate him and he likes you, that's not a relationship."

"I don't hate him, hate is a strong word. I strongly dislike him." Isla quipped, opening up the brown grocery bags and removing the items. "And he hates me, he thinks I'm a monster." "When you hate someone you don't stare at them like that" "Like what?"

A beat passes, Isla removes a tin of caviar. "How do you feel about fish eggs?" "I don't like fish. They're small and wet and have beady little eyes. Like Poppy." Isla bunched her eyebrows, "Poppy has some of the biggest eyes I've ever seen what are you talking about." "I'm aware, I just enjoy hating on the French."

Isla chuckled, "How about spicy ramen? Love loves this stuff." "Why in the world would her parents name that girl Love. They obviously didn't love her enough to give her a regular name." Isla rolled her eyes. "No spicy stuff. I want chocolate." "I did not just spend all this money on this food for you not to at least try one of them." "I didn't ask you to buy them."

Isla rolled her eyes so hard she felt as if they would roll into the back of her head. "Because I can see you're getting tired of eating stray cats and dark chocolate." "Then let me eat Poppy." "No." "She's not your daughter you know." "That's not the only reason I don't want you to eat her." Isla put a jug of almond milk into the fridge. "Besides I think Hobie would kill me." she muttered.

"Well, they were out of chocolate. And the farm is too far to travel tonight, I have a mission in the morning."

"So what are you going to eat now?"

He was robbing a small convenience store owned by an elderly couple so really, eating him benefited everyone.

That's what she told herself as she walked into her office at Spider Society. Waving to Love who was punching in something on her device.

"I just love when people come in without and use my system without telling me first. Thank you Love." "Awe, you're welcome Ramirez." Love smiled. Her jet black hair that usually framed the outline of her face was pinned up in a bun.

"You have a mission-" "I knew that." "And honestly you didn't even have to come here first because the anomaly is in your universe. What a coincidence."

Isla narrowed her eyes at the small girl in front of her, "You could have called and told me that Love." "Must've slipped my mind, portal opening in 3,2-" a slow yellow glow filled the room.

"Have fun Ramirez," a small smile speed across Love's soft features. Isla scoffed before she felt herself switch control of her body. Now a 7 foot tall black monster stood in front of Love, yet her mischievous demeanor did not falter.

"You really are his daughter huh? Just as bitchy as he is" Love rolled her eyes, "I'm not, my intent wasn't to make things more complicated for Isla. I just wanted to see you today Venom." "Why is that?" Love turned off Isla's system before slowly approaching the figure. "Miguel doesn't think you're a monster. Not you or Isla. And neither of you realizing that is causing a rift in Spider Society. Miguel just-" Love pauses, "he doesn't think, if somethings off to him he calls it as it is. But as the leaders of Spider Society you need to talk to each other. There's a sort of distance between those who affiliate with you and those who affiliate with him. But you don't see the same thing with Jessica."

The portal was slowly fading from her vision. Her soft brown eyes turned stern, despite their height and stature difference, one of them looked more intimidating than the other. "Fix it. I'm not your messenger you both need to communicate with each other like reasonable adults."
