chapter six
chapter six; honey is extremely tired
“That animal's delicious flesh could keep us all alive for another week!” Honey nods along to Jade’s words, looking beside her to see Beck slouched in his seat with his arms crossed over his chest.
“I don’t wanna be alive south Poncy!” Cat starts, bringing the giant stuffed pig closer to her chest as she steps away from her goth friend. “This pig is everything to me- that my daddy never was and I’ll be ding danged-”
Honey jumps at the sudden ball being thrown at cat’s head, causing her to fall back and drop the pig. “Oh my god.” Honey covers her mouth from smiling as Jade rolls her eyes from the stage. “Sikowitz!” The crazed teacher shrugs his shoulders as he gives a look of innocence to his students.
“What?” Honey looks over her shoulder at Sikowitz in disbelief. “You just hit me in the face with a ball!!” Beck nudges Honey as he chuckles lowly, shaking his head. Honey bites the inside of her cheek from joining him. “Oh come on- a truly great actor can stay in the scene no matter what’s happening around her.”
Cat frowns as she holds her head, an almost annoyed look crossing her face. “But it really hurt.” Not even two seconds later did the bell start ringing signalling the end of class. Cat squeals as she jumps up and runs to her bag. “Lunch, yay!” Honey snorts at that, typical Cat.
“Come on, Hon.” Beck laughs as he slips his back over his shoulder. Honey takes her brown satchel and stands up before looking over at Jade. “You did great, by the way.” Jade scoffs, picking up her bag and jacket in annoyance. “Thanks, I know.”
The three start to make their way out of the class as Sikowitz calls out after his class. “Leave your lines, I want everyone off book tomorrow!” Jade grabs Honey’s wrist as she walks out of the class, ignoring Sikowitz’s requests. “Come on, we’re eating in your car.”
Honey shrugs but doesn’t say anything as she lets her short friend lead her to the lockers. “I can’t believe you did that.” Jade says as she leans against a locker that has cans painted all over them Honey chuckles scanning the inside of her locker briefly, catching all the polaroids of the trio and a few of her and Cat together.
“I think it’s cute.” Honey smiles softly as she plucks one from her board. “Especially this one.” Honey grins, showing Jade the picture of the two of them dressed for some sort of dance; practicing slow dancing in Honey’s room. “Oh god, put that away- that dance was lame.”
Honey shrugs her shoulders as she pins it back on before grabbing her lunch quickly. “Yeah but it was better with you there.” And she meant it, whenever Jade is with Honey; nothing seems boring anymore. The girl, while sarcastic and mentally unstable, knows how to carry a good conversation so Honey has never felt the need to leave the place. “Shut up.” Jade smiles softly as she hits Honey’s arm.
The next day Honey sat behind Jade with her arms crossed and head tilted to the side with her eyes halfway closed. She barely got any sleep last night from practicing her lines for the upcoming plays she signed up for, not that she regrets signing up for any of them.
“Drive by acting exercise! You’re all angry englishmen- Go!” Honey jumps at Sikowitz's loud voice, her eyes widening as she looks around. “I insist you tell me who sat on me crumpet!” Honey stands at Robbie’s shouting, rubbing her eyes to try and relieve the stinging. “My grandmummy went to the loo while I snogged the Prime Minister.”
“This flock of whip-poo-rwhills is bothering my trousers!”
“Good heavens, there’s a dead cockroach in my brassiere!”
“Blimey!”
Honey slouches her shoulders as Beck points at a random student from her side of the class. “Well, I told you not to put plum juice on me banger!”
A girl turns to Honey as everyone starts to shout, going on about something Honey did to her pug. The loudness and Honey’s lack of sleep starts to really put a toll on the young girl. Honey barely has time to reply before Sikowitz calms everyone down by clapping his hands; making his way to the stage.
“Very good, quiet down!” Well, at least she didn’t have to do anything. Honey slumps in her seat as she yawns behind her hand, barely paying attention as Sikowitz welcomes Tori on the stage to begin the Bird scene, a small one person play every student has to do if they want to sign up for any plays.
Honey had tried a thousand- okay that's way over exaggerating, she tried at least three times because she didn’t care enough what Sikowitz had to say about her acting skills at the time- times before she could even begin working as a back character in a play.
Honey jolted up by the sounds of her fellow classmates screeching in what she assumed were dolphin noises. “What the-” She caught herself as Sikowitz walks by her, a warning look on his face as he makes his way to the back of the class.
“Oh come on. How am I supposed to do the scene right if no one will tell me what I did wrong? I thought you guys were my friends..” Honey frowns as she shoves her hands in her sweatpant pockets, shaking her head gently. “I’m not your friend.” Jade reminds the girl, grabbing Honey’s wrist as she drags her to the vending machine.
“Ruthless.” Honey comments, shaking her head as Jade pulls a few bucks from her bag. “Well, she’s annoying.” Honey raises an eyebrow at that, pressing the purple button then going to the orange one. “Not surprised you think that way.”
Jade rolls her eyes, grabbing the two bottles on soda and handing Honey the orange one. “Number one rule of the bird scene.. No one’s allowed to help you.” Beck crosses his arms, glancing at Jade and Honey as they walk back to the group.
“So.. This is what you did to your locker?” Jade points at the poor excuse of a locker causing Honey to look over the white board Tori hung up. “Yeah! It’s a dry erase board with a bunch of colorful pens in a convenient cup.”
Honey nods as Tori continues explaining, rubbing under her eyes to clear the blurriness. “ But you’re supposed to decorate it yourself.” Beck points out. “It’s a Hollywood Arts tradition.” Cat adds as Jade picks up a red pen and starts to write on it, she hands it to Honey who shrugs her shoulders before writing her own words.
“Well, for one thing they can do.. That.” Honey sets the pen down as Beck slings his arm over her shoulders, pulling her away.
Honey is extremely tired
is poorly written on the bottom. “Yeah well my locker is smarter than yours!!” Tori calls out to the trio who are already walking down the hall, ignoring the new girl. “See, annoying.” Jade crosses her arms as she walks beside Honey, nudging her shoulder with hers.
