LYRA WAS WITH her friends playing beer pong. It was her against Vik and she had just won for the third time- must be the birthday luck Ethan told her when she won against him on her first round. She's been practising! Harry accused when she won for the second time. Bitter bitches.

She quickly downed her drink and sarcastically bowed when people started cheering, stumbling a little. The blonde had lost count of how many drinks she'd had so far, (there were a lot) most people envied her tolerance sometimes. Giggling she moved over to let someone else take her place, clumsily walking over to Talia to give her a sloppy kiss on the cheek, as she was ordering from the bar.

Wrapping one hand around her friends waist, the brown haired girl smiled at her. "I take it from the absolutely contagious smile on your face, you're having fun?"

"The best! I can't believe you did all of this for me, thank you Tals," the happy smile started to morph into a sad one, as Lyra continued talking about how grateful she was.

Slapping her arm, Talia pointed a finger in the direction of her eyes, "Hey! No tears! Don't ruin your makeup yet and besides I didn't do it all myself, I had help from a lot of people."

"Still. I love you." Hugging in a tight embrace, their happiness was short lived when Lyra spotted her boyfriend walking in. Isaac Crawford.

This isn't usually her reaction. Normally she's always happy to see him, but since she had been continuously texting and calling him the whole day and she was ignored; it wasn't her favourite sight. That and the alcohol was making her a little more pissed.

Feeling her tense, Talia pulled away and looked in the direction Lyra was glaring daggers at.

"Do you want me to come with you?" she asked, knowing exactly how her best friend was feeling.

"I'm good, I'll just go ask him. Maybe he has a real excuse," trying to give her lover the benefit of the doubt, which wasn't working on Talia as she raised her eyebrows when she said this. Kissing her cheek once more and saying a brief goodbye, Lyra started walking over to Isaac.

"Hi?" she said standing behind him and crossing her arms, the tone of her voice coming out more like a question. She heard him sigh and turn around.

"Look I get that you might be a little pissed but-"

She interrupted him quickly, "I don't wanna listen to anything if you're just gonna pull shit out your arse. A single message to tell me that you couldn't make it? A happy birthday? Telling me that you were actually okay so that I wasn't going fucking insane calling you! And you're here now, you look perfectly fucking fine, so please tell me anything that has a good enough excuse for that! Because if you think you can just mend shit through kisses and gifts, you can fuck yourself."

She was breathing heavily after her much needed rant. This wasn't the first occasion, he had been distancing himself a lot recently and she couldn't help but feel neglected. Angry. Sad. Worried. Insecure. She wasn't sure anymore. Noticing that some people were watching after the commotion she had caused, Isaac dragged them away into a separate room in the back somewhere.

"Look I've been really busy okay? give me a fucking break Lyra, not everyone can make top hits on songs and make fuck all videos and make money off that!" He started as soon as he entered. It was just now that she realised he was quite drunk himself, as he was stumbling over his words and was making bold advances against her.

"I just want to forget about it, come on. We'll go back to my place, it'll be better than whatever shit show this is," Isaac offered.

Tears of frustration sprung at the corner of her eyes, why was he in such a pissy mood? Why was he drunk? Did he really mean what he said? Should I go with him? Question after question went through her head, overwhelming her even more. Communicating sober? Already hard. Communicating after consuming alcohol? Fucking impossible.

She moved back every time he took a step forward, "No." Lyra eventually found the courage to say. Her boyfriend gave her an incredulous look at her answer. "No. I don't want to go with you. I'm staying here and I'm celebrating my birthday with my friends, so you can leave because I don't want you here."

Making it extremely clear for him, she released a shaky breath after she finished talking. Isaac scoffed and stepped forward once again. When she went to step back too, the blonde realised she was now against the wall.

He cupped her face and kissed her softly, at first she reciprocated because that was what she was used to. Until she realised what she was doing and tried to pull away, only to find that she couldn't.

Isaac had placed one hand on her back, pushing her body onto his and used his other hand to hold both of hers together above her head. Lyra made noises of discomfort and laughed it off as a joke until his kisses became more forceful. "Isa- don't- what are you-"

He continued kissing her and eventually moved down her to her neck. Just as he was about to pull down the straps of her dress, somebody opened the door.

"Hey Ly, The cakes coming soon and-"

As soon as Isaac heard someone speaking, he jumped away from Lyra immediately; which definitely wasn't the smartest root as Lyra had some tears rolling down her face and red marks on her.

She had never been so happy to see Chunkz in her life. Well, she always was happy to see him, but now extremely grateful.

She instantly walked over to his side and shook her head with pleading eyes when she saw him glaring at her boyfriend. She didn't want to start anything. Not right now at least.

Putting on her best smile she took ahold of Chunkz' arm and led him towards the door, not sparing a glance at Isaac. "Cake sounds great! we shouldn't keep everyone waiting,"

"Lyra stop, I'm sorry. Let me come with you." Stepping forward to get closer to her.

"You're not staying here," Chunkz replied, seeing how physically uncomfortable his blonde friend looked. The thought of what her boyfriend was going to do to Lyra if he didn't come in made him ill.

Walking out, Lyra quickly wiped away her tears and checked in the glass reflection of a window to check if her makeup was ruined. Well, maybe that's not the only thing she checked.

"Don't say anything, please. I'll deal with it, just promise you won't say anything to anyone." She was on the verge of tears again, but this time she forced them not to fall. It wasn't everyday an individual does something like that to someone they're supposed to love. How can anything go back to normal after this? He was drunk, she reminded herself.

Chunkz sighed and gave her a look, to which she responded with her own pleading one. "I won't say anything, but Ly if that was anything I thought it was you can't stay together." she nodded in response.

The blonde girl plastered on a smile and walked towards towards the actual crowds behind the plastic blinds. Freya spotted her immediately, giving her a shot which she downed and bringing her over to the others. She was glad everyone was too intoxicated to notice anything.

The night ended with her friends bringing out the cake and singing "happy birthday", which was more amusing than embarrassing if anything. Drinking to their hearts content and eventually stumbling home with the girls; belting out the words to all too well (ten minute version of course) with Tobi joining in on the bridge. Lyra didn't think of Isaac anymore after their encounter and she was glad. She was glad that she knew people that could just make her unknowingly forget about the bad things in her life, even if it was for just a night.
