Peter Parker x reader [Pt. 1]

Note: Originally an idea for a fanfic I had years ago but with my busy schedule has thus turned into a one shot instead - I hope y'all enjoy <3

I could say that I regretted everything up until this point.

But I don't.

What Peter and I share is a bond far beyond a simple relationship - he's my soulmate, through and through. I could never let go of that, no matter the consequences I was now facing. We were both facing. Not that he knew about any of this yet. And truthfully, I wasn't so sure on how I would break this life-changing news to him.

How, after all, did you tell an Avenger that you were pregnant with his child?

Hm...food for thought, perhaps, I thought to myself as I swiped yet another Kit Kat from the backpack that lay at my feet. I glanced down at the hands of the watch on my wrist. It was already 3:45. Where was Peter?

I bounced my leg up and down impatiently, my feet tapping on the floor as I did. It's not as if I didn't realize or appreciate the magnitude of Peter's alternate life as an Avenger. I was beyond proud of who he'd become and just how much he had done to help others. But there were still moments when I needed him here with me, to just be here for me.

Yet, evidently, the world's current events was not in accordance with my wants and desires. Suddenly, as if I had willed it into being, the door to Peter's room burst open and there he stood in all his red-and-blue Spiderman glory.

My heart raced a mile a minute, the location of it currently somewhere in my throat. Despite the many cuts and scratches littering his angelic visage, Peter's face lit up when he saw me sitting there atop his bed.

"Hey! I didn't know you were coming over. I would have came home sooner," he said with an easy grin that was so very Peter.

But instead of returning his smile as I always did, I chewed my lower lip as a wave of anxiety washed over me.

"Pete...we need to talk," I said slowly, my voice tinged with a nervous edge.

Peter and I had known each other since I moved to Queens about four years ago. And in that time, he had begun to pick up on tiny mannerisms or gestures of mine - as I had with his. Just now, I could tell my disquiet was showing all over my face at the change in his own expression. Wordlessly then and without stopping to change out of his Avenger gear, he sat down beside me on the bed before taking me in his arms.

Peter's hands were in my hair then, butterfly kisses placed among my dark locks in a way that soothed my nerves. A sigh escaped my mouth as he held me tighter.

His voice was so soft then as he whispered into my hair, "I'm here now. Tell me."

All my words came out in a crashing waterfall then as they tumbled from my lips in a jumble, "Peteimsorrybutithinkimaybepregnantandithinkyouregonnahatemeforit-"

He shushed me then, gently turning me to face him as he wiped the quickly falling tears from where they landed on my cheeks, "Stop, stop, stop. Just slow down, okay? Breathe. Now tell me again,"

I hiccuped, "Peter, I-I'm p-pregnant,"

His soft brown eyes, usually warm like melted chocolate but now swirling with concern, widened considerably in surprise. For the first time I had known him, I had rendered him totally speechless.

Anxiety gnawed at my insides, "Peter, please say something - anything!"

But instead of my own fears reflected in his voice - what scandal a teenage pregnancy would bring if the Avengers were ever to discover it, what this would mean for Peter and I as we continued our high school years - I heard a very different emotion entirely.

Peter's chocolate gaze lit up and a grin slowly dawned on his handsome features as the only words I'd ever remember from this moment escaped his mouth.

"You mean I'm going to have a Spiderling?! I'm going to be a Spiderfather?!"
