"His eyes were glowing," Meilani recalled to Chris as she, Chris, Allison and Isaac sat around in his office.

The trio had come to look for Chris after the fight in with the shadowed men in Derek's loft. Allison and Isaac had mentioned that her father would know something about whatever they just fought off. He had been keeping something from Meilani the past twenty-four hours because he needed time to fix it, but clearly this problem wasn't fixed just yet. The Argent man had been just coming out of unconsciousness in the doorway when Isaac, Allison and Meilani arrived to talk to him.

"There was something almost ritualistic about it, like it was looking right into his soul," Chris said while Allison dabbed at the cuts and bruises on his cheek. He had seen these things before when he was younger and watched as they slaughtered multiple people right in front of him.

"That's the same thing it did to me," Isaac chimed in, having seen the shadowed men in Allison's room the night before. They had originally come for Chris, but went after Isaac instead for some reason. The whole thing was honestly making Meilani's head pound and she now understood why people said they needed a drink because she felt like she needed one right now and she wasn't even legal yet.

"That's what it did to everyone," Allison corrected, not taking her eyes off her father's cheek. She stared at it in concentration as she patched it up with expert like precision.

Meilani sat forward in her chair in front of Chris' desk and shook her head, noticing a certain pattern to the way the shadowed things attacked. "No not everyone. Just the werewolves. It only went after Derek, Isaac, the twins and I. It didn't even touch Scott or Stiles."

"And Lydia," Allison reminded.

"Anyone with a connection to the supernatural," Chris spoke up once again, flinching when Allison dabbed a bit too hard in a certain area on his cheek.

"Then who was the guy they went after in Japan?" Isaac asked.

"A kumicho. A yakuza boss. It was my first gun deal. I was only eighteen and it was supposed to be a simple exchange. Except, Gerard let out the minor details of the buyers being yakuza. He wanted to see if I could adapt in the moment. Testing my ability to improvise. The moment the sun went down it was like they just materialized out of the shadows. They had swords, not curved like katanas but straight, black steel. Like ninjatos."

Meilani shifted in her chair and she tried her best to keep up with Chris' story, but there was just so much information to take in. She shouldn't even be surprised at this point that stuff like this exists. It just meant that now there was another threat in Beacon Hills that could harm her supernatural friends. She wouldn't have to worry about Scott and Stiles this time since they were just human, but she still had to worry about Isaac, Derek and Lydia.  "What did they want, Chris?"

"To get to the kumicho. They cut down every living thing in their way."

Isaac absentmindedly ran his fingers along the back of his ear where he had been marked like Lydia and the twins. "Did they mark him like they did us?"

Chris exhaled heavily and shook his head, hissing slightly when it pushed his cut cheek into the alcohol on the cotton ball Allison held up to him. "Not exactly. They killed him and I don't even know what he was, but there might be someone who does. There are a few others who survived that night. One of them was a man named Katashi . . . they called him Silverfinger because of an unusual prosthetic. It looked like he was getting ready to take them all on himself. I've known for a while that Katashi was in the country. I spent yesterday tracking him down."

Isaac pointed at Chris' injuries as he dropped into the chair next to Meilani, looking just as exhausted as she felt. "Didn't look like he wanted to be found."

"Not particularly, no."

Meilani slowly raised out of her chair, praying against all odds that this guy could actually help them. She could really use any extra hands that she could get since she didn't know what these things were and she didn't know if Deaton would be able to help out. "You think he knows what they are? Or what they want?"

"Maybe," Chris responded.

"What if he doesn't want to talk?" Allison inquired, sitting on the drawers behind Chris' desk.

"What if he doesn't even remember you?" Isaac added in.

Chris pushed himself to his feet and stood in front of a wooden box on his desk. There were multiple Japanese characters on the box that Meilani didn't understand. She wondered if the characters meant anything important to whatever was inside the box. Chris popped open the box and pulled back the gray cloth back to reveal a few broken pieces of mask inside. He reached inside and held up one of the broken pieces in his hand.

Meilani tilted her head in curiosity and stood up, walking over to the box with Isaac and picking up one of the shattered pieces in her hand. It was smooth beneath her fingers and the slight bounced off it when it filtered in through the blinds to her right.

"I know I didn't kill it. I'm not sure you can, but I slowed it down long enough for us to get out of there," Chris informed.

"What was behind the mask?" Meilani questioned, glancing from the broken piece of mask in her hand and over to Chris over her shoulder.

"Darkness . . . absolute darkness."

Allison had driven Meilani home after the talk with Chris so she could shower and get ready for school. Thankfully, Meilani had been dropped off around the time she typically woke up so she would still have the same amount of time to get ready for the day. She had texted Stiles - who had texted at least a dozen times while she'd been with Chris, Allison and Isaac - to let her know she was home and she'd ride over on the back of Scott's bike so he wouldn't have to worry about getting her.

Meilani had spent an extra five minutes in the shower as she tried to get rid of the paint that Stiles had put on her skin. She had gotten most of it off and you could only see it in still in certain spots if you actually looked hard enough. Since the only person that ever does that was Stiles, she decided to just leave it and get dressed so she could meet up with Scott outside to leave for school.

After drying her hair and making sure her body was clean of excess water, Meilani only had five minutes before Scott would leave her high and dry. So she just grabbed whatever closest to her - a pair of light blue jeans, a black tank-top, Stiles' red flannel hoodie that she left open and unbuttoned and her red converses - and rushed down the steps while she threw her hair up into a ponytail since she didn't have time to really work on her hair.

The ride to school was silent for the most part - a comfortable silence, at least - until Scott told Meilani all about how dropping off Kira had gone. She had seen everything that had gone down between the wolves and the shadowed figures. She had even mentioned that she found it awesome that Scott's twin was an alpha. Meilani had teased Scott and told him that even his future girlfriend thought she was cooler than him. That only resulted in Scott threatening to fling her off the bike since she'd just heal in thirty seconds anyway.

When they pulled up to the high school, Ethan and Aiden had pulled up on their black motorbikes on either side of Meilani and Scott.

"Can't I get just one day?" Meilani whined, dropping her forehead onto her twin's back. She was starting to feel like an overly stressed mother. "You guys going to be doing this all day?"

"All day."

"All night."

Meilani puffed out her cheeks and hopped off the back of Scott's bike, placing her helmet in the compartment placed on the back for the helmets. "Listen, Thing One and Thing Two, if this is about being in my pack - "

"This is about you being the target of demonic ninjas," Ethan cut across her, leaning his forearms on his helmet that rested in front of him on the bike. "A sentence that I never thought I would say in my life."

"You mean the demonic ninjas that pulled swords out of their chests and completely kicked our asses?" Aiden remarked.

"Yeah, those demonic ninjas."

Meilani let out a small laugh and crossed her arms, eyes bouncing between the twin wolves on either side of her. "I don't need anyone to protect me."

Aiden sat up straighter on his bike and he actually looked . . . concerned. "Meilani, they looked right at you when the sun came up."

"And they also disappeared when it came up. Argent thinks that they could just come out at night."

"Since is our first experience with demonic ninjas, we are thinking we should play it safe. All day."

"And all night," Meilani sighed heavily, turning on her heel and walking towards the high school with all three boys on her tail. She entered the school and her eyes scanned the hallway for the one person she wanted to see in the moment. On the outside she was calm, but on the inside she was battling way too many emotions to keep up with all of them. He was the only person that could keep her anchored to the ground.

Meilani approached her locker and opened it up, grabbing the few items from inside that she needed up until lunch. "Okay, first things first, I need to talk to Stiles and tell him what I found out about last night. Without you two lingering around."

"No," came Ethan's immediate response.

Meilani scoffed and turned to face the twins, her red alpha flashing for a moment in warning. "Yes. I don't even want you listening in so no wolf hearing either."

"How would you even know?" Aiden challenged, crossing his arms.

"I'm a True Alpha. You haven't even touched the surface of what I could do," Meilani replied innocently, shutting her locker with a wink and pushing her way past the twins to go find Stiles with Scott in tow.

The twins had found Stiles who had been rushing around the hallways looking for them in return. Apparently, he had gone to the high school before going home and he had figured something out on the board that that had spelled out Kira's name using the periodic table. Meilani barely had time to kiss her boyfriend in greeting before she and Scott were tugged over to the chemistry classroom.

Stiles froze in front of the teacher's desk, seeing the blank blackboard before him with a look of disbelief. "It's gone." He suddenly shook his head and rushed past his girlfriend, only heightening her worry over him.

Meilani had seen Stiles frantic and spastic many times in her life. It was just how his personality was and she was used to it. However, she had never seen him like this before. He was more frazzled and the sour smell of anxiety and nerves were thick in the air around him. She even noticed that he hadn't even tried to hide the dark purple on his neck that poked out of the collar of his shirt.

"No, it's fine. I have the key," Stiles mumbled and he fumbled with the key ring in his hands for the mysterious key that had been placed there the day before. His breathing became erratic when he began to spastically flick through the multiple keys on his key ring for the key that would open the back closet in the classroom. "No. I had it . . . I had it here. I had it here this morning. I swear to God, I had it this morning."

Meilani took a cautious step towards Stiles, not wanting to make him even more frazzled and freaked out than he already was. She exchanged a concerned look with her twin, Scott clearly feeling the same thing about Stiles. What the hell was happening? "Babe, is this the key that you were telling us about last night?"

"Yeah, you saw it. You picked it up," Stiles breathed, eyes blowing wide as his anxiety really began to kick in and his breathing became more erratic. He grabbed Meilani and Scott's wrists and pulled them back towards the blackboard at the front of the room, a cold sweat beginning to break along his forehead. "I was here a couple of hours ago and the message left to Barrow spelling Kira's name was right there on the board in my handwriting and I had the key to the chemistry closet."

Scott stared at the blank board for a long moment before his eyes slowly trailed over to Stiles whose chest heaved as small wheezes escaped past his lips. He was totally freaked and Meilani reached out to hold his hand, hoping it would calm him down the slightest bit. "So you unlocked the chemistry closet so Barrow could hide in it from the cops and then you wrote him a message to kill Kira?"

Stiles shook his head, his hand clenching around Meilani's as his other hand played with the keys that hug from his middle finger. "I know how it sounds . . . but look at this."

Meilani stepped closer to Stiles when he fumbled in his hoodie pocket for a news article in his pocket. She didn't believe that Stiles would have been the one to lock Barrow in the closet and then leave him the message to kill Kira. He didn't even really know much about Barrow in the first place, besides the few things he learned when Noah arrested the guy. How he would have even gotten the chemistry closet key didn't make sense because he had been with Meilani the whole time all the weird stuff started to pop back up again.

"This is the news report that came out about Barrow when they caught him, okay? About the shrapnel bomb that he used. See this? See what he did?" Stiles rambled, pointing to a certain section of the newspaper article. "He put nots, bolts and screws. Then he hid the bomb and the detonator in a box that he wrapped as a birthday present. What does that sound like to you?"

Meilani felt the blood in her veins run cold as realization dawned on her. It was the exact same thing they had done to Coach with his little wrapped present in the office. He had picked up the small blue box that was filled with the nuts, bolts and screws that triggered the mechanism to collapse everything in the office. "The joke we played on Coach during Mischief Night."

"That was my idea, Lani. You guys remember? That was my idea. That's not coincidence. It can't be."

Meilani chewed on the inside of her lip as she glanced over to her twin. The two exchanged a look that showed that neither one of them really believed Stiles' theory. It felt like Stiles was just reaching for things this time instead of looking for concrete stuff like he usually did. What would Stiles need to kill Kira for when he didn't even know her? Why would he help a man like Barrow of all people? None of it added up and Meilani and Scott both knew that Stiles hadn't done it.

"Babe, I don't want to sound like I'm trying to tell you that you're wrong, but I don't exactly think you'd try to kill people either. You could barely kill a fly when you see one, little lone a full grown person," Meilani spoke softly, placing a hand gently on Stiles' arm that he glanced down at. "That's not the person you are so why would you try to place an attempted murder on yourself like that?"

The whole thing just made Meilani want to burst into tears. She didn't understand why Stiles was stood here trying to tell her and Scott that he tried to help Barrow in choosing who to kill. Why would Stiles even want to be charged with being an accessory to an attempted murder charge? Was it the darkness that sat in her, Allison and Stiles' hearts still? She thought they were all getting better, but it seemed like Stiles only got shoved down deeper and she didn't know why.

Stiles crumpled up the newspaper article in his hand and his eyes drifted back to the blank blackboard, tears in his eyes. He stared at the board as if the words would suddenly appear right back on the board like they had been before. It was almost like he wished the words would come back so he could prove himself. So he wouldn't sound crazy. That only shattered Meilani's heart more.

"It was here. It was all here," Stiles whispered to himself, though the twins heard him.

Meilani lightly cupped the side of Stiles' face and made him look at her. She eyed his face as she took in the bags that only appeared darker than they had been before and his usual bright hazel eyes were dull and glazed over in exhaustion. His shirt was even a bit wrinkled that she hadn't noticed when she first approached her boyfriend. She ran her fingers gently along the dark bags under his eyes and tried to keep herself from breaking down. "Babe, are you okay? Have you gotten any sleep? You look exhausted."

"Yeah, I'm fine. I just haven't been sleeping really . . . " Stiles admitted quietly, placing his hand gently on Meilani's waist.

"So why don't you go home and take a sick day or something? Scott and I can vouch for you," Meilani offered, hating seeing her boyfriend like this. She wished she could rewind time back to the Halloween party and just live in that carefree few moments she had with her boyfriend. Now it appeared like she wouldn't be getting that time back again.

Stiles was silent as he nodded his head in response and placed his forehead on Meilani's shoulder, relaxing the tiniest bit when she ran her fingers gently through his hair and kissed the side of his head.

Meilani exhaled heavily as she leant her head on top of Stiles, finding it hard to smile even when he mumbled that he loved her into her shoulder. Her body was starting to become so numb from all the emotions that fought around inside of her that she didn't know how much longer she had before she collapsed from it all.

"Did you tell him?" Ethan asked, following Meilani through the hallways of the high school while Aiden walked on Meilani's other side.

"No. Stiles has enough on his mind right now. I can't worry him more and make his anxiety worse," Meilani responded, tugging anxiously at the string that hung down from the hood on her flannel. She didn't have Stiles in the same vicinity as her anymore now that he'd gone home so she was finding it harder to keep an anchor on all of her emotions at the moment.

"Well, so do you if those things come for you again in a few hours," Aiden reminded Meilani, causing her to stop and turn to face the twins.

"What if it's not me? What if I'm not the one that those things want?" Meilani suggested, dropping her hands down to her sides.

"Well, who else is there? They already came after Ethan, Lydia and I? Who else is there that they could want?"

Meilani chewed on her lower lip in thought as she tried to think of who these demon ninjas could even want. Derek wasn't an alpha anymore after he had healed Cora and, last time she checked, Peter wasn't an alpha again either. Isaac was just a beta and Allison was just a huntress so they wouldn't her if she wasn't supernatural. Scott and Stiles were out because they were also human. So who else could they go after that was in Beacon Hills?

As if on cue, Meilani caught scent of a new girl she'd found herself starting to become friends with and slowly turned away. Coming down the steps just down the hall was the one person she hadn't stopped to think about. The raven haired girl offered Meilani a small smile and wave before she continued off down the hall to her next class of the day.

"Kira."

⏤⏤⏤⏤╗❀╔⏤⏤⏤⏤

Once school was over for the day, Meilani had Scott speed home with Kira on the back of the bike while she took off on foot. She appreciated Aiden and Ethan wanting to help her out and keep her protected - something she never thought she'd see - but she had to break their bikes for the time being. Sure, they could follow her scent to the McCall residence but if those demons really were after her or Kira, Meilani needed the twins out of the way. She barely even wanted Scott in the house, but he refused to go anywhere.

Deaton had recently helped Meilani make a few changes to the house to up their security system to keep out the supernatural. Melissa knew all about it, but Rafe didn't know a single thing and Meilani was pretty much determined to not have him know. Even with two werewolves in the house to act as an exterior security system, Meilani still worried about the times her and Isaac weren't there and she'd rather not have to constantly worry about being attacked in her home, her safe space. So Deaton helped her put anything that can repel any sort of supernatural being into the house and only Scott, Melissa or Rafe could switch it on.

Meilani hadn't seen the security system in action just yet since Melissa had always done it after Meilani was in the house. She just knew that there was mountain ash in there and that her family would be safe whenever they were in the house.

When Meilani arrived at the house, Scott and Kira were already heard moving around in Meilani's room where she had asked Scott to keep Kira. She double checked everything downstairs was locked up and sealed before she took the steps two at a time to get to her room. Scott and Kira had both turned suddenly when Meilani stepped into the room and the alpha raised an eyebrow at the two, smelling their awkwardness in the air.

"Uh . . . hey, Kira," Meilani breathed, waving to the girl with a small smile. "Are you doing okay?"

"Are you?" Kira shot back gently, looking more worried over Meilani than over her own self. "Scott told me everything about why we're here."

"I promise that nothing will happen to you or anyone," Meilani assured, closing her bedroom door behind her and dropping her bag next to her door. "All of us will be okay."

Kira tucked a piece of her curled, raven hair behind her ear and fixed a look on Meilani. "Meilani, you didn't want the twins coming here so you could protect them. So that they wouldn't get hurt."

Meilani frowned and shrugged lamely, stuffing her hands into her back pockets. "I don't want anyone getting hurt. I'm tired of watching the people I love get attacked."

"Then why did you bring me here? If those things are coming after you, and anyone who gets in the way can get killed, then shouldn't I be somewhere else?"

"We're not letting you get hurt, Kira," Scott chimed in, placing a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"And I don't want you or Meilani getting hurt, especially because of me."

"It could be either of us," Meilani said, motioning between herself and Kira. "Who knows who they actually want?"

Kira tensed slightly at Meilani's words and slowly sat down on the girl's bed where her bag sat. She pulled out a blue book with cherry blossoms and a mountain pained onto the cover. On the top in black lettering read CHINESE MYTHOLOGY: CREATURES, SPIRITS AND DEMONS. She clutched the rectangular book in her hand and took a deep breath. "I have to show you both something. Have you ever heard of something called a Kitsune?"

The twins exchanged a brief look before they sat down on either side of Kira as she opened up the book. The first page was bookmarked with a post it note and had a picture of a beautiful white fox with nine tails flowing behind it. She skipped a bunch of pages to the next bookmarked page, showing the same fox with what Meilani wanted to assume was its mother, blue electricity lighting up behind them.

Meilani pointed to the picture, noticing it almost looked like what she'd seen at the power station. "This is what you looked back at the power station."

Kira let out a heavy breath and nodded, glancing from the picture and over to Meilani. "When a Kitsune rubs its tails together it can create fire or lightning. It's called Foxfire." She moved her gaze over to Scott who looked a bit dazed after the explanation. "I don't have nine tails, Scott."

"What - how'd you know what I was thinking?"

"Because Kitsune are also psychic. I can hear all your thoughts," Kira whispered and Meilani tried to hide the smirk that wanted to fight its way out, hearing how Kira's heart rate skipped at the lie. She was actually impressed with how well of an actress Kira was, though. Then again, Scott was pretty gullible and you can usually trick him into anything. "Just kidding."

Meilani burst out into laughter at Scott's relief filled gaze, clearly not wanting the raven haired girl to ever hear his thoughts. She high fived Kira for a good joke and smiled innocently at Scott when he glared at her for laughing at his expense.

"The sun's setting," Kira noted and Meilani could hear the way Kira's heart rate started to race slightly out of nerves.

Meilani tried to keep herself calm, knowing she needed to be in the right state of mind if she were going to protect Kira from the demonic ninjas. Scott should be fine so long as he doesn't get in the way since they weren't interested in mortals. So he just needed to listen to whatever she said and he'll come out just fine. She would die before she let anyone else she cared about get hurt.

"Are you scared?"

Kira's eyes bounced between the twins and shook her head once, seeming relaxed in Meilani and Scott's presence. "Not right now, but I have to be back before dinner."

"Tell them you can't make it," Scott whispered, earning Kira's full attention on him and Meilani suddenly felt like the third wheel as they looked in each other's eyes. She tried to ignore the way both of their heart beats skipped a beat as they stared at each other for a long moment.

"What should I say?"

"Say, uh, you're going on a date."

"Wow and that's my cue to do another check on the house," Meilani frantically announced, rushing out of her room before she'd have to witness her brother make out with his new girlfriend-not-girlfriend. She got down the stairs and paused in the doorway of the kitchen when she saw that it was Rafe. "Dad? What are you doing here? Why do you even still have a key?"

Rafe didn't budge, running his fingers along the top of his laptop and eyeing his daughter in the way that she knew she was about to get an earful. What she did? She didn't even know, but it was probably just existing at this point. "Funny you mention keys, Meilani. While I have a key to this house, I'm not exactly sure how you got a key to my office."

Meilani balked when Rafe flipped laptop around and opened it up to show a photo taken of her, Scott and Kira looking right at the screen. It was the same moment that the twins noticed the picture that was on Rafe's background. She usually knew how to get herself out of sticky situations, but this one she had no idea how. Her father was an FBI agent so he knew how to ask the right questions and her face literally stared back at her, proving her guilty. You couldn't exactly fight against evidence

To make matters even more awkward, Scott and Kira had both come down at that moment and stood on either side of Meilani as they stared guiltily at the photo of them on the screen.

"Let me help you out here. This kind of thing usually begins with something along the lines of, it's not what you think, or, I can explain."

Meilani nervously glanced over to the window when she noticed the sun dip even lower in the sky. Now, Meilani and her father had a strained relationship that was pretty sure would never be like it was before he left. She didn't think she could ever fully forgive him for walking out on her, Scott and Melissa the way he had like a coward. However, that didn't mean she wanted to watch her father get slaughtered either. Just because she hated him and was still getting used to being in the same vicinity as him, she still loved him . . . at least a little bit. Plus, it was her father, how could she let him be killed?

"Dad, let me help you out, okay? You need to leave," Meilani spoke after a long beat of tense silence in the room.

"I will. With a satisfactory explanation."

"Go get a warrant then," Meilani countered, hoping it would get him to leave the house and not look back until tomorrow morning. Though, she should have known her father by now and know that he was the person she got her stubbornness from.

Rafe stuffed his hands into his suit pant pockets and made it very clear he wouldn't be leaving any time soon until either one of his twins spoke up. "I don't need a warrant. I'm your father."

"Yeah, a pretty shit one that walked out on his family. You're nothing but a sperm donor, alright?" Meilani growled, clenching her hands into her fists at her side and took a step closer to her father. "So you are not allowed to play tough dad with Scott or me when you haven't for the past eight fucking years!"

Scott had tugged Meilani back beside him just as Melissa walked through the door, eyeing the situation cautiously as she walked placed her bag down on the kitchen table. His touch calmed her raging emotions slightly, but it at least wasn't like the last argument where she nearly wolfed out on him.

"Hey, what's going on?"

Rafe fixed his gaze on the three teenagers before him and shot them all an expectant look. "Maybe one of you should explain."

As if matters couldn't get any worse, the sun outside officially dipped out of sight and darkness slowly spread along the McCall residence with the side door wide open now that Melissa and Rafe had both walked in. Meilani's hands relaxed at her sides as her head slowly turned to glance out into the darkness outside, fear spiking through her at the thought of the demon ninjas being able to come out.

"Meilani . . . "

Rafe's shifted over Meilani's shoulders and he tilted his head at whatever caught his eye. "Who the hell is this?"

Meilani furrowed her eyebrows and her eyes followed her father who went to step into the living room. There in the middle of the room was one of the demon ninjas and Meilani let out a gasp, reaching out to grab onto her father's wrist. "Dad, wait!"

Rafe had taken two steps into the room before he was stabbed through the chest with the black blade, causing both of his kids to call out to him. The three remaining McCalls rushed over to Rafe's side with Melissa and Scott dropping down to their knees at his side. Meilani stood above her family as it barely even took her second to shift, growling darkly at the demonic ninja before her.

The front door suddenly burst open and Melissa and Scott pulled Rafe down the short hallway to the right to keep themselves out of view while Derek burst in. He was on one knee in the archway between the foyer and the living room, already in his wolf form and roared at the ninja that raised its sword in defense.

Meilani rushed at the demon ninja, jumping back every time the demon ninja swung its sword at her. She ducked when the demon ninja swung its other arm to try and punch Meilani in the side of the head. "Mom, Scott, the ash!"

As Meilani and Derek continued to fight off the demon ninja, another one materialized out of the shadows behind Derek and left Meilani to fight the other one on her own. The sound of the window smashing alerted Meilani and she saw Ethan and Aiden land on the table just beneath the window, growling at the threat in Meilani's house. They fought off the third demon ninja that broken in from the other side of the room and took swings at it with their claws.

Meilani slammed the demon ninjas head into the kitchen counter and threw it through the window next to her. "Mom, do it now!"

Melissa waited for Derek to get the other demon ninja out the front door and the twins to throw the other one out the already smashed window before she ran over to the front door and smashed the jar of mountain ash in front of the door. The jar broke into a million pieces with glass flying everywhere and the ash swirled for a moment before it formed a line just inside the front door, making it impossible for any supernatural creature to get past it.

Kira slowly approached the door where the demon ninja stood on the other side, staring in the house. Even though it didn't have a face necessarily, Meilani could tell that if it did, the demon ninja would more than likely have a threatening glare on its face.

Meilani slowly shifted back to normal and met up with Derek at his side to look down at the neat line of mountain ash along the front door. She didn't see the demon ninja any more as it had disappeared into the shadows again and tugged at her ponytail, making her curly hair to fall down her back again now that the demon ninja messed up her hair.

"The baseboards are ash wood?" Derek asked in shock, his eyes running along the floorboards of the entrance way.

"Uh, yeah it was Deaton's idea," Meilani explained and looked to Derek with a confused expression. "Where the hell did you even come from?"

"My mom," Derek teased and sobered up when Meilani merely shot him an unamused glare. "Okay, fine. I've been following you all day."

The sound of Scott's shouts for her to meet them upstairs alerted Meilani and she turned to run up the steps while Derek went to go check on the twins and Kira who had moved into the kitchen. She rushed into Melissa's room to see Rafe laid out on the bed, a sweat had begun to break out over his body and his hair was a mess on top of his head. He mumbled about needing to call for back up while Melissa pressed a towel to his sword wound.

Meilani sat on the bed by her father's head and tried to ignore the way his wound bled profusely, her mother's head coating in crimson. "Mom, how bad is it?"

"From the way that his arm is rotate, the tendon looks torn. He could be on his way to a collapsed lung," Melissa diagnosed, pressing harder on the wound on her delirious ex.

"Mom, those things, they are not going to leave until the sun is up," Scott informed his mom, staring at his father worriedly. That much blood could not be good."

"At the rate he's bleeding, he won't make it that long. We have to get your father to the hospital."

Meilani made a nose in the back of her throat and felt her heart ache at the sight of her father. She never thought she'd be this torn over seeing her father so broken, especially after the argument they had just had. But the McCall female actually felt fear at the thought of not being able to save him from death. "Mom, should we call Noah?"

""I don't know. Is that going to just get more people hurt?"

"Maybe. I don't think guns work on them," Meilani replied, chewing on her lower lip as her nerves spiked even more when her father let out a sound of agony.

"Then what does?"

Meilani shook her head as Kira tried to tell her and Scott that she was evil because she was a Kitsune. That she was one of the bad guys out there and could possibly hurt one of the two people that actually showed her any sort of kindness in the school. "It's not. It can't be, Kira. What I saw around you at Derek's loft, it didn't look evil."

"But isn't that what a shape-shifter does? Isn't that why a Kitsune is called the trickster spirit? I mean, foxes and wolves don't even get along! I'm supposed to trick you. How can you be so sure? How you know I'm not the bad guy?"

"We've seen the bad guys before, Kira," Scott stepped in, a tone of finality strong in the way he spoke. "You aren't one of them."

The house suddenly shook around them and Meilani ran off from the duo to go find out what was happening. She met up with the twins, Kira and Derek inside the living room to see the demon ninja banging its sword against the invisible force field, causing it to shake the whole house from the strength of the hits.

"What are they doing?"

"Trying to find a weakness," Ethan answered, eyes fixated on the demon ninja as it didn't give up on its attacks on attacking the barrier.

The demon ninjas all continued their onslaught of attacks against the barrier. The two ninjas that were stationed at the broken kitchen window tried to push their swords through the barrier, but it didn't do much for them. It just emitted the blue light to reveal the barrier between them and the supernatural creatures on the other side before they were pushed out.

"Guys," Aiden called, eyes trained on the demon ninjas by the kitchen window and watched in horror as one of them fought to get their hand through the barrier. "We have a problem."

Meilani fumbled for her phone in her back pocket and quickly dialed Allison's number, pressing the phone to her ear with a shaky hand. She slowly began to back up while the phone rang twice and Meilani's ear was suddenly met with Allison's voice. "Oh, thank God. Alli, please tell me you have something. They are here and trying to get in. It looks they are going to be able to."

"Okay, okay, listen. They're Japanese demons called the Oni. They are looking for someone possessed. Someone with a dark spirit attached to them."

"A Nogitsune," Meilani breathed, meeting Kira's eyes across the kitchen.

"Yeah, how did you know that?"

Meilani clutched the phone tighter in her hand and she was pretty sure if she clenched her hand even more it would snap her phone in half. She closed her eyes for a minute and tried to will her racing heart to slow down, noticing the way Derek and the twins glanced to her with worry laced in their eyes. "Just . . . tell me what else, please."

"Okay, they won't hurt you. They know you're supernatural but once they do this check, once they realize that you aren't carrying this dark spirit with you, then they won't hurt you. I promise. All they're looking for is the Nogitsune."

Meilani slowly lowered the phone from her ear as her eyes trained on the two Onis that tried to get into the house McCall residence. She jumped slightly when Kira appeared at her side, not even hearing the girl approach her in the first place. "Oh, geez. You okay?"

"I'm right, aren't I? They're looking for me."

"They are looking for a dark spirit and I know for a fact that it's not you," Meilani replied.

"Mei, we need to do something here!"

Before Meilani could even respond to Derek, the Oni officially broke through the barrier and placed one foot into the house. The pack all huddled together as they watched the Onis all enter the house together with wary expressions. "Guys, don't do anything, okay?" She turned to Kira and held out her hand with a reassuring smile, the Asian girl placing her hand into Meilani's. "You trust me, right? I won't let them hurt you. I promise."

Kira silently nodded her head and allowed the alpha female to pull her towards the three Onis that stood in the kitchen. The Onis stared at the two teens for a moment before they both gripped the back of their heads, bringing them to their knees when they became dizzy. In unison, they lowered their masked faces closer to them and made Kira and Meilani stare into their glowing yellow eyes. They slowly tilted their heads to the side while Meilani and Kira both tensed up in their grips, their hands falling out of each others.

Meilani yelped when a sizzling pain erupted behind her ear and she dropped to the ground, feeling the whole room turn sideways as her body became heavy with sleep. She groggily brought up her hand to the back of her head to feel the burn mark that more than likely looked like the one Isaac, Ethan and Aiden had behind their own ears. She felt Derek drop down behind her, allowing Scott to rush over to the girl he liked. The two females were lifted to prop themselves up against the two boys' chest and Derek checked Meilani over for anything other than the burn mark behind her ear.

"It'll be okay," Meilani slurred, her head feeling heavy even with Derek helping keep her head up.  "Everyone's okay."

Meilani rushed behind her twin and her mom, following after the two EMTs that rolled Rafe's gurney along the entrance to the emergency area of the hospital. She barely even registered the words that Melissa explained to the EMTs while they continued off without Melissa to bring Rafe towards an emergency surgery.

"Mom, I'm gonna go find Stiles and see if he woke up yet, okay? I'll come back after I find him and wait for Dad," Meilani told her mom and ran off from her twin and mom to go find Stiles.

Meilani ran through the halls of the hospital, her mind only focusing on the fact that she would be able to fling herself into her boyfriend's arms. The one thing she seriously needed right now as her emotions officially began to weigh on her, making it almost impossible for her to even run to find her boyfriend. She had followed his scent to an empty room with another set of double doors on the other side of the room that would lead to the other wing of the hospital.

"Babe?" Meilani called, slowly opening up the door on the right side and pushing her way into the room. She felt her heart leap at the sight of her boyfriend in gray sweatpants and a dark blue t-shirt, a soft look on his face when his eyes met with hers. She didn't waste any time in rushing over to him and throwing herself at him, the spastic teen stumbling for a second before he righted himself and held her up.

"I'm here, princess," Stiles mumbled into her neck, keeping one arm around her waist while the other hand held the back of her head.

Meilani wrapped her arms tightly around her boyfriend's neck and buried her face into the crook of his neck, taking in his familiar scent of cologne and Roscoe. Her legs were wrapped around his waist and she felt him run his fingers gently along her side. Her mid didn't even register the odd nickname that he had never called her before as it was too swarmed with all of the events of the past few hours. She finally allowed herself to let the tears fall and soak up the collar of Stiles' t-shirt, not that the Stilinski boy minded one bit.

"It's all gonna be okay."
