TWENTY ONE.
DIRTY LITTLE SECRET.

After Cheryl's speech in the gym, the two secret lovers found themselves breathless with one another, making out in the girl's changing rooms. They both knew they were being insensitive about Jason's staged death but neither came to care enough to stop. Cheryl had wanted to stop after the first kiss but Lexi's lips trailing down her neck was enough to send all sense of reason out the window. The redhead couldn't help but to lose herself in her girlfriend's touch.

Lexi's hands happily trailed over Cheryl's bare skin after having accidentally walked in after the redhead was getting changed. The sight of Cheryl standing in just a short skirt and a lacy bra was something the brunette would forever be grateful for. But just as Cheryl teasingly pulled Lexi's lip between her teeth, the door opened again and this time neither party was happy with what they saw.

They jumped apart and before Lexi could put any distance between them, Cheryl's tight grip locked on her arm and pulled her closer so that the redhead could use her body as a shield and cover her bare upper body.

Three words were the only thing spoken from their interrupter's lips as they stood in complete stillness, trying to wrap their head around what they had walked in on. "Oh, my god."

Their dirty little secret had been revealed.

Cheryl's grip tightened on Lexi's arm as she silently glared at the blonde. Lexi frowned, not knowing how to react before she smirked at her best friend's reddened face. "Wanna join in?"

Betty simply gaped at her whereas Cheryl was quick to scold at her girlfriend and hit her in her arm. Lexi gasped as the loud smack echoed through the locker room. "Hey, I don't do abusive relationships. Thank you very much."

"You don't say that when you want me to pull your hair when we kiss," Cheryl threw back lazily, having already been used to Lexi's habit of being over dramatic.

This time both Lexi and Betty gasped at her. Cheryl rolled her eyes and grabbed her shirt from the too of her locker door where Lexi had blindly thrown it. The brunette scrunched her eyebrows together at how well Cheryl seemed to be taking Betty finding out about them, especially because Cheryl was the one that wanted their relationship kept quiet.

          "So you two are-"

"Fucking?" Lexi interrupted, replacing her frown with a shit eating grin. "All night, every night."

"I swear you act like a player than your brother," Cheryl mumbled as she pulled her shirt over her head.

          "Mmm, okay babe."

"Babe?" Betty echoed with a pointed look towards them. She wanted an explanation as to why she found the two making out in the vacant room. "Didn't you two used to hate each other?"

"Isn't there a fine line between love and hate, Elizabeth?" Cheryl retorted with a smirk of her own.

"Who else knows about you two?" Betty inquired. Stepping further into the room, she took a seat on the bench before her legs could give out under the amount of shock she was in. Though, when she thought about it, she wanted to kick herself for not figuring it out sooner. The two were practically joint by the hip ever since mid way into sophomore year. "Did Jason know?"

Cheryl stiffened at the mention of her brother causing Lexi to quickly swoop in and cover for them both. "Yeah, we, um, I told him a few weeks before - you know."

"God, Lexi just say it. Jason's dead." The redhead snapped.

Lexi turned around with narrowed eyes, "I'm sorry, I'm not that fucking blunt, Cherry."

"Whatever." Rolling her eyes, Cheryl leaned forward and placed another kiss on her lips. "I'll see you tonight, babe."

She went to leave only stopped once she seen the shocked look on Betty's face. "What?" Cheryl snapped at the blonde before looking over her shoulder and seeing Lexi with the same look. "Betsy can keep a secret, right?"

"So you and Cheryl Blossom, huh?" Betty smiled wearily, stil unsure of what to make of the whole thing.

Lexi couldn't help the next words to come out of her mouth nor the laughter than came afterwards, "Shut up, Betsy."

"Can I join?" Veronica asked, standing beside their table with a tray of food in her hands.

"Only if you give me your chocolate muffin," Lexi bargained before Betty, being the good and kind heart soul she was, agreed without second thought.

"Hmm, deal." Veronica smirked at the other brunette and happily handed over her muffin in exchange for a seat at the table. "What are we doing?

"Listening to one of Archie's songs," Betty grinned up at Archie as she praised him for his confidence in her head.

"I thought we were going to have to pretend to like it," Kevin trailed off. "But it's actually really good."

"Wait, that was you singing?" Veronica cocked her head to the side a little in amusement. "Something you wrote?"

"It's rough," Archie nodded shyly. Lexi rolled her eyes, seeing as Archie was next to never shy about anything.

"No, it's great. It's incredible, actually," Veronica complimented, looking down at the laptop as if she was listening to the music again in her head. "The little snippet I heard. Is that your thing? Music? Are you doing something with that?

"Yeah," Archie glanced towards Betty. "That's the plan. So how's your first day going? Good?"

Veronica squinted her eyes and looked off to the side. "Not to be a complete narcissist, but I thought people would be more..."

"Obsessed with you?" Kevin offered before shrugging. "Any other year, you'd be trending number one, for sure. This year, though, it's all about Cheryl trying to win the Best Supporting Psycho Oscar for her role as Riverdale High's bereaved Red Widow."

Archie quickly looked up from their table to see said Red Widow walking over to them. "Hey, I should go. I got that meeting with Grundy and then football tryouts, so."

"You play football, too? What don't you do?" Veronica remarked before the boy was out of earshot.

Kevin looked towards Betty as soon as the redhead had left them. "Before you ask, Blue Jasmine, no, she has not invited him to the dance yet."

"Not yet," Betty snapped in a low voice as she leaned forward so that the approaching Cheryl couldn't hear them, "And don't talk about Archie."

"Hey Cherry," Lexi smirked lazily at her secret girlfriend.

"Veronica Lodge, I'd heard whisperings. I'm Cheryl Blossom, may I sit? Betty, would you mind?" Cheryl said more than asked. She quickly took a seat as Betty sent Lexi an annoyed look. It was bad enough the redhead didn't like her but it made it so much harder to keep her secret for her. Though, Betty knew she wasn't the type to go around exposing people's secret relationships, even if it were someone like Cheryl Blossom. On another note, it wouldn't just be Cheryl's secret she'd be outting to the school since it was also her best friend's secret. "So, what are you three hens gossiping about? Archie's Efron-esque emergence from the chrysalis of puberty?"

"Extracurriculars," Veronica lied smoothly, sensing Betty didn't want to talk about anything important like boys with the girl. "Weatherbee wants me to sign up for a few."

"Cheerleading. You must. I'm senior captain of the River Vixens." The redhead grinned proudly.

"Is cheerleading still a thing?" Kevin snapped.

Cheryl snapped her eyes over to the sheriff's son and glared at him. "Is being the Gay Best Friend still a thing?"

Lexi snorted as she tried to muffle her laugh into her hand causing Cheryl to shot her a not so discreet wink.

"Some people say it's retro, I say it's eternal and iconic."

"At Spence, I sat at the top of the Elites' pyramid. I'm in. Betty, you're trying out, too."

"Of course, anyone's welcome to try out, but Betty's already got so much on her plate right now and being a Vixen is kind of a full-time thing. But open to all!" Cheryl said with false enthusiasm.

"Cheryl," Lexi snapped, annoyed that she was being mean to Betty for no reason. She didn't like the fact the two didn't get along but she didn't think it had been that big of a deal when they hardly ever spoke to each other.

Cheryl looked at her innocently before standing up and turning back to Veronica. "Follow me on Twitter and I'll do the same. My handle is @cherylbombshell."

"Okay," Veronica began, "Go ahead and hate on cheerleading, but if Hipster Prince Harry..."

"I'd love to be a cheerleader," Betty confessed solemnly, interrupting Veronica for a change. "It would look great on my college applications. But last time I tried out, Cheryl said I was too fat."

"'Too season 5 Betty Draper.' It was a great line," Kevin commented before quickly sending Betty a reassuring look, "But not at all true."

"Well, you're a total smoke show now. I mean it. As hot and as smart as you are, you should be the Queen Bey of this drab hive."

"Okay, I agree with her there." Lexi commented as she took the long, long await first bite of her muffin.

"Look, if you want to be a River Vixen, I'll help you prep," Veronica promised before assuring them, "I have moves."

When Betty reluctantly agreed, Lexi couldn't help but to feel a little jealous. The Lodge girl had barely been there two seconds and she was already Betty's new best friend. Lexi had tried numerous times last year to get Betty to join and when Cheryl made the comment about her being too fat, Lexi had been the one to shut her up. She blamed it on the fact she had been too preoccupied with handling Chuck Clayton, not that it had really helped half the female population at the school.
