My God, Tooru!" You hissed, averting your gaze from the washing machine. "It's just 6 in the morning, tone down your voice!"
"GOOD MORNINGโ"
You slapped him on the shoulder. "I said lower your voice! You'll wake up Touya again!"
Tooru, your husband for four years, whined before placing his chin above your shoulder and sliding his arms around your waist. His breaths hit your neck, a short, warm breeze of air that was enough to send chills up to your spine.
Your cheeks automatically warmed. This kind of action, his way of showing his affection, you'll never get used to this. Even if you're already four years married; the way he calls your name, the way he kisses your lips, the way he touches you; everything feels like the first time.
"Where's my good morning kiss?"ย
He whispered as you opened a new powdered soap pack, pouring it above the water inside the machine.
"You'll get it once you learned to stop shouting at early in the morning."
"EHHH?!" He yelled, making you stare at him in annoyance. "I JUST WANT TOโ"
"M-Mommy..."
The both of you peeked from the kitchen, only to see your little kid standing in the living room with his cute, starry onesie given by his favorite Uncle Iwaizumi. Touya clutched his alien-like pillow above his chest as he looked around his surroundings. I am pretty sure his mind is still in a haze, and now thinking that he's somewhere in outer space with aliens flying around him.
Smiling, you let go of all the clothes you were about to put inside the washing machine to get your kid.
"Good morning, baby!" You kissed the top of his nose as he giggled a bit.
"M-Mommy, I heard a noise," He explained. "Are the aliens coming to get us?"
My God, Tooru.
You glared at your husband behind you which is currently preparing the dining table for breakfast. You knew where the stories of aliens came from, none other than Oikawa, but to think that Touya would be influenced by him this fast? It's unbelievable. It's not bad at all, but sometimes they're both start talking weirdly which leaves you out of the conversation.
Well, father and son things, you guess.
"No, no," You cooed, fixing his bed hair. "Aliens aren't coming to get us."
"So, we'll be the one to get them?" He asked enthusiastically, showing the blanket with alien prints on it.
Jesus. Well, as if you have no other choice.
You nod, pinching him on the cheeks. "Yes, we'll get them, baby."
"Daddy!"
Quickly rushing to his father's side, Tooru picked him before hugging his kid very tightly. The sight is so beautiful, heart-whelming. You never wanted to take your eyes from them and this is the moment when you wished for the time to stop. This is the exact future you imagined with Tooru when you were just in high school when you thought things are going to flow easily for your relationship. When you were still both blind with the real meaning of reality.
"Daddy, did you hear Mommy?" Touya hugged his father back. "She said we'll get the aliens!"
"YES! WE'LL ABSOLUTELY GET THEM!" Tooru answered enthusiastically as if they can actually catch those green-like things from outer space.
"Should we ask for Uncle Iwa-chan's help?"
"HMM?" Oikawa put a hand under his chin. "MAYBE WE SHOULD! HE CAN HELP US CARRY OUR THINGS!"
You chuckled, leaning your back at the wall.
"Then Mommy can make sandwiches for us!"
"OH, OH, YOU SHOULD BRING OUR CAMERA TOO! SO WE CAN TAKE PHOTOS WITH THEM!" Typical Tooru.
"Daddy, we should buy another bed!"
Your husband's eyebrows twitched. "HMM? WHY?"
"Eh?" Touya inclined his head while looking at his father. "So they have something to sleep on inside my room!"
"SHOOT, I DIDN'T THINK OF THAT! YES, LET'S BUY A BED LATERโ"
"And new toys for them to play!"
"AND WE SHOULD ADD MORE PLANET PAINTINGS ON YOUR ROOMโ"
"But how are we going to go to outer space, Daddy? We don't have rocket ships."
"WELL, HMM..."
"Do you badly wanted to catch aliens?"
You finally entered their conversation, getting Touya from his father before setting him on his chair. You carefully placed his well-prepared meal with alien and planet designs on it, thanks to Oikawa, before sitting beside him.
"Yes, Mommy!"
"Well, you can't catch aliens with an empty stomach. That's why," You gave him his milk. "You should eat breakfast first."
"Oh!" Touya placed a hand above his small tummy. "I forgot that! Daddy, you should eat too!"
Laughing, your husband happily jumped onto his seat before grabbing his own meal. Of course, alien stories started, leaving you fixing the clothes before putting them back inside the washing machine. Good thing today's your day off from work and you got the whole day to spend with your family, and with the pending chores, you were supposed to do a few days ago.
When your kid finished his meal, you let him fix his bed, leaving you and Oikawa inside the kitchen.
"Y/N," He called.
"Hmm?" You stared at him a soft smile plastered on your lips.
"I'll be leaving for Brazil next month."
You were definitely surprised, leaving you frozen in your place. Heart aching, you tried your best to stop your tears from falling. He'll be away again, from you and his kid. You'll miss his kisses again, his touches, his voice every time he'll call your name, his alien stories, everything.
"N-Next month?"
He momentarily stopped from washing the dishes, looking at you with sad eyes. "I'll be away from you again..."
His tone shattered your heart into pieces. But, you have to stay strong. This isn't the first time he left you, but this is the first time he'll leave his kid. This won't be easy for him too, of course. Knowing your husband, he's the softest person you've ever met your entire life. You knew exactly how to make him cry, just play sad movies or make him read angsty stories and he'll end up a crying mess.
But now...
You smiled. A genuine one. Reassuring.
"How long?"
"A year, I guess. Or probably longer than that."
You nod your head, turning the washing machine on. Carefully, you walked towards his direction before giving him a back hug. The warmth between your bodies, this calming sensation, the silence; as much as you wanted to never let these go, you have to.
He loves aliens, yes. But, he loves volleyball more.
You just can't take something precious from him like that. That's his life. It was already there before you came. His sport, his career, are all important to him. And as his family, you have to support him no matter what. You have to accept that.
"I love you," You whispered.
"How am I supposed to explain this to Touya?"
Your shaking palms touched his cheek, forcing them a bit so he'll look at you. "Don't worry, we'll explain this together."
"Wait for me."ย
He closed his eyes, fighting the urge to cry. It's not a question, and even if it's a question, he already knew the answer. Of course, you'll wait for him. No matter how long it takes, he'll come home with you waiting at the doorstep with a welcoming smile on your lips.
Swallowing the lump from your throat, you cupped his cheeks before placing a kiss above his lips. It's so soft, and you badly wanted to devour it right now but no, wrong time and wrong place. He immediately kissed back, cupping your cheeks too with his calloused hands due to rough volleyball training and practices.
A tear escaped your eye but he was too quick to wipe it away.
"What was that for?" He asked, chuckling after parting for air.
Smiling, you shrugged your shoulders before walking back to the washing machine with your kid shouting, "Aliens!" from his room.
"YOUR GOODMORNING KISS."
