Private oc
Name: Evangeline Walters
Age: 22(or whatever we need her to be!)
Gender: female
Pronouns: she/her/her's
Sexuality: lesbian
Personality: Evangeline has been through a lot, and it shows. Over the years her once excited, beaming gold spirit decayed into something more reserved, and quiet. If one could be a color, in fact, Evangeline would surely been a deep emerald hue. She's polite, respectful, but has a killer tongue and the ability to slice into people with words. She's clever, keen, ever observant and cunning. That said, for all her mystery and silence, she's actually a very nice person. She's got a smile like a thousand paper lanterns lighting up a night sky, and she isn't shy to show it. She used to work customer service through her teen years, which made her very slick and good with conversation.
Likes: The catharsis of solving a problem you hadn't been able to figure out, being around her loved ones, her job, the little cafe she goes to every morning, sad prose, watching the sunset, sandals with socks
Dislikes: liars, criminals, people who hurt others, taking too long to solve a case, giving bad news, tea, hot weather, early mornings, the scent of lavender
Appearance:
Health: she is in great physical shape. She's always been the athletic type, but her only hang up is that she does smoke. Which is obviously quote bad for her.
Family: the only person she still talks to from her family is her older half- brother, 27, though her mom is alive.
Backstory: Evangeline is just someone who's been through a lot trying to get through. She was the product of an affair, and her parents always made this abundantly clear. She was unwanted, a throwaway child that ended a faulty marriage and began an even more disfunctional one between her mom and dad. Her dad blamed her for everything that went wrong in his life, and had no problem telling her that her brother was the only kid he ever wanted. He blamed her for things she couldn't control, and was never shy to express that physically.
When Evangeline was around ten, her father died. He got into an accident while driving drunk, and after that things really spiraled for their little family. Her mother got hooked on drugs, and everything she shouldn't have. She berated Evangeline at every chance she got and praised her brother, Dakota, like a beacon of light in darkness. Which was funny, because Dakota wasn't blood to her mom.
They were constantly fighting, and Evangeline was constantly trying to help her mom in any way she could. Nothing helped though, and eventually Evangeline and her mother were practically strangers in the same home. She was always close with Dakota though, and he stayed around until he was 19.
When he moved out, her mother just kinda gave up on being a parent. She spent all their money on drugs, and Evangeline ended up being the one who paid the bills by working two part time jobs. Her mom had men coming in and out of their home almost every night, and Evangeline's breaking point was when one of the men shifted his focus onto her.
He spent an evening hanging around her room, making gross comments, trying to touch her shoulders, her hair and face and generally being a creep. She managed to go into the living room where her mom was, expecting that he'd stop in front of her. He didn't, and her mother got mad at Evangeline and accused her of trying to steal her boyfriend.
They got into a screaming match that ended with her mom throwing an half-empty bottle of booze at Evangeline. It hit her cheek, and left a large scar on the top of her cheekbone and down to her cheek. After this, she left that house and never looked back. She called her brother, asked if she could stay with him the night and when she explained all that had happened since he was gone, he insisted she move in with him.
And so she did, until she eventually began pursuing a position at their local police department at 19. It took a little bit, and a lot of training, but she eventually got the position.
