CHAPTER ONE | "THE CHARM OF
A SMALL TOWN"
Stars Hollows, how would you describe this small town? This town comes with vibrant, quirky characters, and the events are filled with laughter and memories.
That is what Izzy Gilmore would tell people about the small town she grew up in. The city adores the three Gilmore Girls; the girls support the town's wacky events and enjoy their neighbors' company.
These characters include The grumpy diner owner, The clumsy chef at the inn, the chaotic dance teacher, and the nit-picky town mayor. And the empathic Diner owner's brother. These people hold a special place in her heart.
Whether she would help out at Luke's or make
Despite their quirks, they mean well. They wouldn't dare let any harm come across the two young Gilmore girls. These people made the vibrant town more speculative than it already was.
"Hey, it's freezing," Rory said in front of Mom while taking off her backpack. "Oh, what do you need, hot tea or coffee?"Β Mom asked. Jade sat down in between My Mom and Rory.Β
"Lipgloss,"Β
Mom picked up her tote bag and began finding some lipgloss. "I've got vanilla, strawberry, chocolate and toasted marshmallow,"Β Mom picked up her clear pouch filled with makeup, sliding it over to Rory.
"Anything not resembling a breakfast cereal?" Rory asked. Mom pulled out another smaller bag, "It has no smell, but it changes colours with your mood,"
Jade grabbed one of the bags, "God, RuPaul doesn't need this much makeup," she commented about the amount of makeup her mother carries,Β "Well, aren't you crabby,"Β Mom answered. "I'm sorry," Jade apologised. " Jade lost her Macy Gray CD, and we need coffee," Rory finished.
Mom then pulled out the CD, guiltily showing it to us. "I have your CD," Jade snatched the CD back,Β "Thief," "Sorry, I'll get you some coffee," Mom picked up two coffee cups and walked over to the counter.
I shook my head, baffled by the petty thing our Mom did. Till a man approached us, "You two are some of the prettiest things in this diner," I chuckled awkwardly, not knowing how to respond. "And you are one kind gentleman," I said.
I thanked him for the compliment. I noticed he started getting a little closer to Rory and me, "I'm Joey,"Β He introduced himself, "I'm Peggy," I gave him a fake name.
"You live around here?"Β I asked, pretending to be curious. "No, I'm just passing my way to Hartford; I've never been through it here before,"
I saw Mom walking back to us, "Oh, you have too," Joey turned around to Mom standing there. He was slightly startled, "Oh, hi," Mom set down the cups ofΒ coffee, "Oh, hi; you really like my table, don't you?"
We tried to keep our laughter in as Joey started stuttering, "I was..." Mom put her armsΒ around us, "Getting to know my daughters,"
Joey's eyes widened, "Your..."Β Rory joined in, "Are you my new daddy?" the three of us smiled innocently. "Wow, you don't look old enough to have two kids,"Β HeΒ tried covering upΒ himself,Β "No, I mean it, and you two do not look like daughters,"
"That's possibly very sweet of you, thanks," Mom took the compliments. "So... daughters," Joey awkwardly nodded, and we nodded. "You know I am traveling with some friends," He pointed to his friends behind him.
" They're 16," Mom responded with zero hesitation. "Bye,"Β Joey excused himself. "Drive safe," Mom ended. Joey hurried out the door with his friends.
Mom quickly kneeled between us, giggling, "I told him I was Peggy,"Β Mom smiled, "Good name, Su,"
I heard Rory's alarm ring, and I covered my head with the pillow, hoping to drown out. the ungodly noise, till Rory pulled the pillow off me.
"Every morning you do this. Now I'll let you sleep for another 10 minutes if you let me use the bathroom first," Rory offered. I snatched the pillow away from her and fell back asleep.
After 10 minutes, I managed to get out of bed, struggling to move my body towards the closet. I walked over to the kitchen to see Rory packing her bag. "Have you done the French paper yet?"
I yawned and walked over to the fridge to grab a water bottle. "Yeah, I think," I walked into the bathroom, brushed my teeth, and did some makeup.
I threw on a white shirt, pulled some jeans over me, and wore a red varsity jacket. I left the toilet, and Rory was there waiting for me as she offered me a slice of Pop-Tart. I grabbed it, and we walked to find Mom at the inn before going to school.
We walked to the Inn since Mom had to work early. We walked in and saw Mom on the phone. "Kiss," Mom said. She kissed Rory on the forehead and squeezed my hand.
Rory went behind the counter, looking for some stamps we needed for school. "What is your offspring doing?" Michel asked. "We need stamps. Can we have these?" Rory requested, holding a patch of leftover stamps.
"No," Michel said, not wanting us to pester him. "Take them," π¬ππ allowed us. "What's with the muu muu?" Mom commented on Rory's white sweater. "Stop," Rory didn't want to hear Mom's comments on the sweater.
"No, I'm saying you couldn't find one made of metal in case anyone has X-Ray eyes,"
Rory rolled her eyes, "And now we say goodbye," I followed Rory out till Mom told us, "Hey, have Michel look at your French paper before you go,"
"Excuse me?"Β Β Michel asked, not wanting to deal with us for long,."That's be great," Rory walked in front of him. "No," Michel said emotionless.
"Come on, Michel, I'll tell the ladies what a stud you are," I tried persuading him, Michel looked up at us, "I believe that memo has already been sent," he smirked.
"Oh please, Michel. Pretty please with Surcoe on top, I promise I will stop talking like this," Mom started annoying him, impersonating a flemy French accent.Β "Leave it, I will take a look at it if I get a chance,"
Rory and I placed down our essays, "It's due tomorrow," Rory said "and pay special attention to the grammar,"Β I playfully glared at him before walking out of the inn with Rory.
"So..." Heather came up to me. "I didn't bring it," I replied to her before she could beg me for help on her French essay. "Damn it!" She sighed frustrated. "Use your little brain to figure how to hand in a piece of paper in French cursives," I said.
"But I don't want to use my brain! That's why I have you," Heather whined. "Morning Gilmore, Gilbert," I heard Ben's voice.
"Benji," I greeted. "Heather didn't do her French Paper yet," I told Ben. "We had a paper due today?" Ben started panicking, walking past us to his locker, frantically finding paper.
"What are youβ"
"It's due tomorrow, idiot!" Heather stopped him. Ben looked at us confused. "Heather is right for once," I confirmed. "You scared the shit out me, don't do that again," Ben playfully flicked my forehead. "Ow!" I flinched.
"I see your fan club watching, Danes," Heather pointed at the group of cheerleaders waving flirtatiously at Ben. "Oh they're harmless, let's go to class before they come eat you alive and take me hostage,"
