CHAPTER SIX
"Hey! Come back here!" Miyu shouted at the performer who was walking away from her. She was trapped inside a box, the kind where a saw is used to cut someone in half, similar to the ones that you'd see in a circus. The performer ignored her pleas and walked away, as if nothing happened. While Miyu was trapped in a box, Zoro was tied to a spinning wheel. The wheel was usually for throwing sharp objects. Nami was locked inside an awfully large bird cage, no way to escape.
"Give it a rest. Those ropes are too strong, even for you." Nami said to Zoro, who kept trying to loosen the ropes that tied his body to the wheel. "I've gotten out of worse." Zoro replied to the ginger, not caring about her words. Miyu looked at the two before she decided that she wanted to try to escape. Miyu grunted as she shifted her body inside the tight box, but unfortunately she was stuck, just like glue.
"When I ran out of the tent... I saw a town- or what was left of one after Buggy destroyed it." Nami continued to speak, which only made Miyu angry. She clenched her fist tightly, still mad after Nami ran out on them. She hated Nami's little games.
"You mean when you tried to leave us for dead?" Zoro asked with bitter. "We were surrounded and unharmed. You were picking a fight you couldn't win." Nami responded, trying to defend her actions, but Miyu wasn't having it. "You were selling Luffy to Buggy, ran away for us to die. You aren't a good teammate, thief." Miyu spat at the woman with hatred, her fist still in a ball shape.
"Didn't you hear me? That was my only choice." Nami shot a glare at Miyu, but she didn't see Nami's glare since Miyu was laying down in the box, her eyes on the ceiling. Miyu scoffed "Only option? There were plenty of options and you chose the wrong one. Asshole."
Nami groaned in annoyance, "Tell me the options, go ahead." She challenged, waiting for a response. "Make a deal with him. Anything is better than what you did." Miyu answered her question. Zoro moved his arm against the ropes with a grunt, but it was tied too tightly. Maybe Zoro wasn't as strong as he thought he was.
"I think I can get us out of here." Nami said, looking around the room while she sat inside the birdcage. "You mean get yourself out of here?" Zoro looked over at Nami, sharing the same thought as Miyu. Nami was in it for herself, she didn't care about anyone else.
"That's fair, but I'm going to need you to trust me." Nami said, earning a chuckle that came from Miyu. How could they trust her after the trick she pulled? Nami was untrustworthy. "You got any other option?" She asked the swordswoman. Miyu banged her hand against the wooden box, hoping it would break, but it didn't.
"Yeah, I do. Maybe we just wait until Luffy comes?" Miyu suggested, but Zoro shut that idea down. "And if he's dead?" Miyu didn't respond to the man, she just clicked her tongue in frustration.
Nami reached into her shoes and pulled out a small, silver thing. "Is that a lock pick?" Zoro asked her, looking at her hands. Miyu unfortunately couldn't see the lock pick since she was trapped staring at the ceiling, which only made her more angry. "I have four lock picks. The clown only found three."
As Nami tried to unlock the lock on the bird cage, a scream came from the other room. "Luffy!" Miyu shouted loudly, her voice full of panic, worried for her pirate friend. Miyu shifted in her box, needing to escape so she could save her friend. Who knows what Buggy was doing to him?
"Stop yelling! we're going to get caught!" Nami shushed Miyu. The swordswoman frowned, scared for her friend. She silently wished Nami would hurry up and unlock the cage so they could save Luffy before it's too late.
"Stop being so loud." Zoro told Miyu, in which she replied, "Oh sorry, my friend is getting murdered. I shouldn't have reacted the way I did!" She shot back at the man with sarcasm and placed her hand on her heart, even though Zoro couldn't see it. "You are ridiculous." Zoro rolled his eyes, still moving his body to get free. "You shut up!" Miyu argured back but Nami shushed them yet again. The faint sound of a click came from the lock as Nami kept trying to unlock the lock.
"This is my life now," Nami whispered to herself, looking back down at the lock. "You want to trade places?" Zoro asked Nami, but Miyu answered instead, "Actually can we? My neck is cramping badly." She shifted her head to her shoulder, trying to stop the cramping pain. A sound of a curtain opening was heard, "Someone's coming." Zoro said quietly, not wanting the other person to hear him. "I need more time. Keep them talking." Nami told Zoro, he shook his head. "I don't talk. I hit things. Let her do the talking." He said, his eyes looking at the box Miyu was in.
The guy from earlier rolled in on his unicycle, stopping right in front of Zoro. Miyu turned her head as far as she could, wanting to see what was going on. "Remember me?" The guy on the unicycle asked Zoro, wondering if Zoro knew him. "No. Must be some other homicidal, unicycle- riding clown." Zoro replied, not having a reaction.
The clown threw a punch to Zoro's stomach with a lot of force, causing Zoro to shut his eyes closed from the horrid pain. "I've been thinking about you for years.. about how you killed my pirates." Buggy's crew mate told Zoro, anger in his voice. Miyu raised her brows at the two, wondering how long they known each other.
"I killed a lot of pirates." Zoro said which only got the man more angry. The man took out a pair of sharp knives from his pants, aiming it at the wheel that Zoro was tied up on, "My name is Cabaji, and a couple of years ago you hunted us across the Goa Kingdom. Followed us for weeks, through the swamp lands. Day and night, never relenting like some kind of demon." Cabaji explained to Zoro, remembering the swordsman stalking his prey.
"Boring!" Miyu yelled with a fake yawn following after, clearly bored at his story. Cabaji's eyes left Zoro's and looked at Miyu before he rode his unicycle towards her. "I've seen you somewhere." Cabaji leaned down to her face, trying to get a better look at the woman.
Taking her chance, Miyu headbutted him harshly, sending him backwards. "You'll regret that!" The man yelled at her, walking back to the box. He raised his knife above her neck, the blade inches away. Miyu locked eyes with the man, her heart racing.
"Oh my... I do know you.." Cabaji gasped, his expression turning into realization. "Your father, Captain Ichigo?" Miyu froze for a moment, shocked. Yes, her father was a captain of a pirate crew and his name was Ichigo, but how did he know?
"How do you know him?" Miyu asked the man, wanting to know. Her eyes was full of rage, angry that he would bring up her late father. Cabaji smirked before answering, "We knew each other. Occasionally, he would help me and my brother. Too bad he died, only for his daughter to turn out to be a failure."
Miyu's jaw tightened, tears forming in the corner of her eyes in rage and sadness. "Stop it!"She yelled at the man, who looked like he was having fun. "Stop what? Telling the truth?" Cabaji let out a laugh, "He would be so disappointed in you."
He slammed his knife into the wooden box, his blade nearly missing Miyu's body. Her breath hitched from the sudden knife, not expecting him to do that.
"I don't think your clown of a captain would be too pleased to see you ruining his toy." Zoro broke the silence, and thankfully got the full attention of Cabaji. Zoro knew the pain of losing someone close, though he never showed it.
Cabaji threw his knife towards Zoro, the blade landed on the wheel, close to Zoro's head. Cabaji made his way to the side of the wheel before dragging the wheel down, spinning with Zoro tied on it. As the wheel spun fast, Cabaji kept throwing his knife at it, each blade missing Zoro's body. "You really don't fear death, do you?
"No. I just don't fear you." Zoro's answered made Cabaji angry. His face twisted with rage as he took out yet another knife from his pants, throwing it at Zoro, but this time it landed on the rope that held Zoro's arm to the wheel.
"You know," Cabaji started to speak, eyes locked on Zoro's. "I'm going to enjoy this. As soon as Captain Buggy's finished with you, you're mine."
Miyu glanced over at Nami, who successfully unlocked the bird cage that she was in. She quietly slipped out, not wanting Cabaji to find her gone. "Don't turn around." Zoro told the enemy. Cabaji's face twisted into a smirk before her turned his head, only to realize that Nami wasn't inside the cage. "What the...?" He said right before Nami kicked him in the gut, him slamming against Zoro's arm.
Zoro wrapped his buff arms around Cabaji's neck, putting him in a tight and uncomfortable choke hold. Because of how tight the choke hold was, Cabaji fell unconscious. Nami rushed over to the man before untying the ropes that were tied on his body, him finally breaking free. "Little help?" Miyu called out for help, wanting to escape. The box was very uncomfortable.
Zoro silently made his way to Miyu and balled his hand up. He slammed his fist down onto the wooden box's lock, breaking it apart. He put his hand underneath the lid before lifting it up, opening it. "Thanks." Miyu thanked the man, grateful for him. Zoro nodded at her, "Come on."
"Wait for me. I need to find a shirt with sleeves." Miyu said, pointing to her bare arms. The room was cold, at least to her. Zoro hummed before leaving with Nami. Miyu began to search for a shirt, after a short time she managed to find a white shirt with red stripes running along it. She took off her shirt before putting on the new one, which was too large for her. She went over to the wall, grabbing her sword and running off to find the others, they weren't far away.
Miyu looked ahead, realizing that Luffy was inside a glass box full of water. "Luffy!" She ran towards the glass, her fist pounding against the glass, she hoped Luffy could hear her. "Stop it!" Buggy grabbed her left wrist, trying to stop her from hitting the glass. With her right hand, she took out her sword and sliced the glass, a crack forming. "Where are my freaks?!" Buggy asked frantically, needing help with the woman. "They're not coming." As the glass cracked, water poured out all over the floor.
Miyu was soaked, the water splashing everywhere. "There goes my new shirt." She sighed as she got off of the ground, the water's weight pushed her onto the ground. She shook her head, the water flying off of her black, slick, hair.
Luffy started to cough, and the map that he swallowed slipped out of her mouth. "My map!" The clown shouted, his feet scrambling towards the paper. Miyu noticed him, she dashed forward in hopes that she would get the map before Buggy would, but that didn't happen. Buggy planted his leg onto the floor, causing the woman to trip and crash onto her jaw, "Son of a bitch!" She cursed loudly, angry. Angry that she lost the map, angry that Luffy nearly drowned, angry at the clown that stood beside her.
Buggy burst into laughter while he held the map in his gloved hands, proud that he finally had the map in his hands. Miyu jumped to her feet, there was no way she was going to lose to a clown pirate. Imagine telling your future kids you lost a map to treasure from a clown. "You want a piece of me? Let's see what you got."Miyu taunted the clown, getting his attention. Out of nowhere , Zoro brought his sword up to Buggy's neck before slicing it, but his head floated away. "What the hell?" How was that even possible? Could he have eaten devil fruit?
Zoro took another swing, this time to the clowns chest, but it just cut him into pieces. There was no blood or guts, there was nothing. "Surprise shithead!" He let out a manic laugh before he took off all of his limbs and they floated around the air. "He surely ate a devil fruit." Miyu said as her eyes watched his limbs flying in the air, Zoro looked over at the woman in confusion, not knowing what a devil fruit was.
"How am I supposed to slice a guy who's already into pieces? This is not a part of the plan!" Zoro yelled, his swords tight in his hands. "I say try to fight whatever comes towards us!" Both Zoro and Nami nodded at Miyu's suggestion, it was better than nothing.
Body parts that belonged to Buggy came flying towards Miyu, but she sliced them in piece one by one, not missing one. One of Buggy's legs kicked Miyu's knee, causing her to fall down onto the floor- again.
"Damn clown!" She yelled, getting up from the ground. She looked around the circus, noticing that Luffy was still on the ground, laying down. "You shithead!" She yelled loudly, angry that he hurt her friend. She rushed over to the clown, her sword ready to clash against his body. "Nice try...." A pair of floating arms pushed her back down into the audience, where the crowd were tied up with cuffs around their feet.
Buggy's floating body parts came back to him, back to one piece. He walked towards Luffy with a frown on his cherry red lips, clearly not happy that Luffy escaped his glass box. "Somebody escaped my tank of doom." He circled his fingers at Luffy, "Well, I'll be back to finish you off, right after I tear apart your sad excuse for a crew!" He laughed maniacally, finding the situation amusing.
"You can put dumb Seawater on me and I'll let it slide, but don't ever threaten my friends." Luffy pulled his straw hat back down to his head, his hands clenched in anger. His arms stretched forward and aimed at Buggy, hitting the clown in his stomach.
"So, you want to die first?" He held up his hands, revealing sharp blades between each finger. "Chop chop!" Buggy shouted and his body parts came off of his body, floating. "Cannon!" His body parts flew to Luffy with speed, Luffy dodged each one. Luffy landed on top of Buggy, but he punched the boy away.
One of Buggy's blades hit Luffy's straw hat, distracting the boy from the fight. Buggy wrapped his hands around Luffy's tan neck, choking him. "Nami! The crates!" One of them yelled, Miyu turned her head and saw crates laying on the floor, "That's a good idea!" Miyu grabbed a crate that was on the floor before grabbing Buggy's chest and put it inside the crate, locking it inside. Nami and Zoro did the same with the rest of his body, afterwards the only limbs out were his head, hands and feet. Miyu held in a laugh while looking at Buggy, he looked like a goomba from Mario.
"The One Piece will never be yours! You're just a sad, lonely, little boy wearing another mans hat!" Buggy spat angrily at the boy. Luffy adjusted his straw hat and his eyes locking on the clowns head, "I'm Monkey D Luffy, and I'm gonna be King of the Pirates!" He outstretched both of his arms, ready to hit Buggy. "Gum Gum!" Luffy yelled loudly, "Woah woah woah woah! No no!" Buggy cried, backing away from the boy in panic. "Bazooka!" Luffy hit Buggy's head, sending him flying out of the circus tent and into the air.
Miyu bent down and picked up the golden tube that contained the map inside, "I believe this belongs to you, Captain." She said, handing the tube to Luffy. "Thank you, but..." Luff trailed off as he took the map before he went over to Nami, putting it in her hand.
"You're giving this to me?" Nami asked the boy, confused. "You're the navigator." Luffy answered her question with ease, a smile bright on his face. Miyu looked at the two, a frown on her face. She still didn't trust the ginger, but if Luffy wanted her in the crew, she would just need to accept it.
"Let's get out of this clown show," Zoro spoke with boredom, beginning to walk away from the group, but Luffy placed his hand on Zoro's shoulder. "Still one more thing we have to do," He walked over to the crowd of people before bending over, unlocking the chains that were tied to the peoples ankles, setting them free.
After a long and stressful day, the people who were trapped in the circus tent came out with a basket full of goods. "We don't have much, but please, take this as a token out of... of our gratitude." An older man with glasses and curly white hair said to Luffy, a basket in his hands with food inside.
Miyu bent down to pet the small white dog that had been following the old man. The dog barked before licking her hand, she smiled at the cute creature before standing back on her feet. "You need it more than we do." Miyu looked at the basket, her eyes spotting something. "Can I have that?" Her finger pointed to the steak that was inside the basket, the man nod his head "Anything you'd like." She reached and got out the meat, looking at the man she thanked him before walking away.
They all made in on the boat before they started to sail away. The air blew in their face as the sun started to set, it was a beautiful scene. "Hey Nami, look- I'm sorry for snapping at you earlier." Miyu apologized to the woman. It looked like Nami was going to stay for the adventure, Miyu didn't like her, but if they were doing it together then she had to make some sort of friendship.
Nami looked back at her, a smile tugging on her lips, "It's fine. I know I was being rude." Miyu held her hand out to Nami, waiting to shake it. "Friends?" Nami put her hand onto Miyu's slightly shaking it "Friends."
Luffy looked at the two in happiness, liking that the two were getting along. "The next stop- The Grand Line!"
