Season 3B, definitely one of my favs. Here we go!

----------

Deaton sawed through the cast on my arm, removing the cast carefully. After he took it away, I began to move my arm around slowly, making sure that I had healed the bone entirely. Doctor Deaton offered to take x-rays, but I told him not to worry about it. Even if there was still a hairline fracture, I could have that healed in a day at most.

"How does it feel?" He asked.

Closing and opening my fist, I nodded. "Good as new, I think. Thank you for all your help, Doc."

"Of course, Riley." He sat down on his chair beside the metal slab. "You've probably noticed this already, but your friends seem to be having trouble after their. . . experience."

I nodded, "Yeah. Stiles has been having these nightmares for the past few nights. I don't know what's going on with him."

Deaton sighed, "I was afraid of that. For now, all we can do is watch them, make sure they're okay. I'm sure I can trust you to keep an eye on them."

"Definitely," I reassured him. "Thanks again, Doc."

He smiled, walking me to the front of the clinic. "Of course. Let me know if it didn't heal properly."

I agreed, leaving the clinic and heading home. Charlotte wasn't home for another two days, so it was another night alone for me tonight.

After microwaving some leftover pizza I headed into the living room and turned on Netflix. I spent the whole time as I ate deciding on something to watch, and by the time I did I was so tired that I began to doze off half way through the movie.

Just as I was about to drift off to sleep completely, my phone began ringing. "I'm up," I mumbled, dropping the television remote and my phone as I woke up.

Groaning, I leaned down and picked up my phone and turned it over to see who was calling me. My brows pulled together in confusion as I looked at the time. Why was Sheriff Stilinski calling me at one in the morning?

Clicking the answer button and bringing the phone to my ear, I answered. "Mister Stilinski? Is something wrong? Is Stiles okay?"

I heard him sigh from the other end of the line. "I'm sorry to call you so late, Riley. But, is there any chance you can come over? It was really bad tonight."

Stiles' nightmares were back again. He managed to avoid them some nights, but even when he did have them, they were never cause for his father to call me.

"Yeah, of course. I'll be there in ten," I replied, hanging up the phone. Changing out of my pyjamas and grabbing my phone, keys and wallet, I headed out the door and got in my car.

Turning the key I started the engine and headed over to the Stilinski household. I was concerned since Sheriff Stilinski felt the need to call me so late. I drove as fast as the law would allow, not wanting the sheriff to have to arrest me on the night he had called me over.

Arriving at their house, I went and knocked on the door. Moments later, the sheriff was opening the door and letting me in. "Thanks for coming over," he told me.

"Thanks for calling me. Is he in his room?"

When mister Stilinski nodded, I thanked him and headed to Stiles' room. Opening the door quietly, I peeked my head in. Stiles was sitting on his bed, legs crossed and biting his nails.

When he heard the door creak, he looked up from his hands. "Riley?"

"Hey," I said softly as I walked into the room. "What's going on?"

Stiles ran a hand through his hair with a shaky breath. "I'm sorry. My dad shouldn't have called you."

"You're right," I nodded, walking over to the bed and sitting down. "You should have called me."

Putting my arm around him, I rested my head on his shoulder.
"I didn't want to bother you," he said softly.

"Don't ever think that. I will always be there for you, remember?" I replied. "It must have been bad if your dad called."

Stiles reciprocated my embrace, putting his arms around me. His voice remained low, barely a whisper as he spoke. If I didn't have my supernatural abilities, I wasn't sure I would have been able to hear him in the first place. "It was like a dream inside of a dream inside of a dream. I couldn't move. I couldn't wake up. I had to scream myself awake."

"So, like, sleep paralysis?"

"Something like that, I think."
I could feel him shaking in my arms. I don't think I had ever seen him so scared.
"Just- Just don't leave me. Please."

Turning and placing a kiss on his cheek, I couldn't bring myself to think what was going through his head that would make him think I would ever do such a thing. How could I leave this boy who I loved so much?
"As long as you never leave me. Deal."

"Deal," he agreed with a soft smile.

"Good. You should try and get some sleep. I'll be right here."

He nodded, crawling back under the covers of his bed. I got in beside him, resting my head on his shoulder. I felt his fingers stroke through my hair as he breathed softly, trying to go back to sleep. After the nightmare he had described I knew it was going to take a while, but that was okay. I had no where to be.

When I woke up, Stiles was still asleep beside me. I moved carefully so as not to wake him and climbed out of his bed.

"Thought you said you weren't gonna leave me?"
I turned around to see Stiles resting on an elbow, half smiling as he watched me.

"I have to get ready for school," I reminded him, grabbing the few things I had brought over.

"Do you wanna ride to school together? I can pick you up?"

"Sure," I smiled. I said good bye to him before walking out and heading towards the front door. I crossed paths with Sheriff Stilinski on my way out, who was heading up to visit his son.

"Hey Riley, you heading off already?"

"Yeah, I've gotta get ready for school. Thanks for calling me, mister Stilinski."

He held up a hand, "No, thank you. He hasn't been sleeping that well. Having you here makes a real difference."

"I appreciate that, mister Stilinski. I'll see you around."

"Of course. See you later, Riley."

I went out the door and drove home, to see another car in the drive way. Walking inside, I saw Charlotte sitting at the kitchen bench.
"Walk of shame?" She asked.

My mouth fell open in shock of what she had just said. "Uh- wha- what? No! No of course not. I was just at Stiles and-"

"Riley, you do know what a 'walk of shame' is, right?"

"Yes, Charlotte, I do know," I said bluntly. "But it wasn't that. Stiles has been having a lot of trouble lately, so his dad called me over."

"And, say if I were to call the Sheriff, he could confirm this?" She asked, her parenting side showing itself once more."

Sighing heavily, I nodded. "Yes, Char. I promise."

"Okay, then," she smiled. "So, how are you? Glad to see you didn't burn the house down while I was gone."

"I'm good. Everything was fine; normal," I partially lied. "How did that story pan out?"

"It didn't," she sighed.

"I'm sorry."

She shook her head, "It's fine. He's still going to pay me something for at least following it, so we'll be okay. You should get ready for school."

With a nod, I walked up to my room and did exactly that.

About half an hour later, Stiles had text me from his Jeep saying that he was out the front waiting for me. He seemed in a rush to get to school today.

We drove in silence, him blinking his eyes more than usual as he kept himself awake. These nightmares that plagued him weren't going away any time soon, unfortunately.

When we arrived at the high school we went in search of our friends. Walking towards the building, we saw Scott walking down the stairs.

Something was wrong though. He looked like he was trying to escape something; except he was looking down at the ground, not at anyone around him.

It almost looked like he was watching his shadow.

Once he made it down the stairs, he looked like he was going to trip over his own feet. Stiles caught him just in time, Scott breathing heavily.

"Hey. Hey, you all right?" Stiles asked as he steadied Scott on his feet.

Scott freaked out, before realising it was just Stiles and me. He took a few deep breaths, before nodding his head.

"Scott, I don't think you are," I said softly. "What's going on?"

"I'm okay," he insisted.

Stiles shook his head, "No, you're not. It's happening to you too. You're seeing things, aren't you?"

Scott's face mirrored his confusion, "How'd you know?"

I noticed his eyes shift to focus on something behind us. Turning around, I saw Lydia and Allison walking up to us.

Lydia spoke, obviously having heard our conversation, "Because it's happening to all three of you."

As we walked to the school Scott, Stiles and Allison told me and Lydia what they were all experiencing. Scott was seeing himself as a fully transformed Alpha in his shadow; Allison was seeing her dead aunt wherever she went; and Stiles, of course, had his nightmares and sleep paralysis.

Lydia and I walked ahead of them, listening as they spoke. When they were finally done, Lydia had a smile on her face. "Well, well, look who's no longer the crazy one."

"We're not crazy," Allison replied wearily.

Lydia spun on her heel, with a smug look on her face, "Hallucinating? Sleep paralysis? Yeah, you guys are fine."

Scott shrugged somewhat, "We did die and come back to life. That's gotta have some side effects, right?"

The bell rang, meaning we didn't have any more time to talk for right now. Stiles got to the point so that we could go, "We keep an eye on each other, okay? And Lydia, stop enjoying this so much."

Stiles grabbed my hand on his way past, walking down to our next class that we had with Scott, history.

Once we reached the classroom, we took our seats. I sat to the right of Stiles, and Scott sat in the seat directly behind him.

Since we had talked right up until the bell, class basically started as soon as we sat down. Our new teacher was already in the classroom and writing on the board.

As soon a class began, he introduced himself. "Good morning, everyone. My name is Mr. Yukimura. I'll be taking over for your previous history teacher. My family and I moved here three weeks ago. I'm sure, by now, you all know my daughter, Kira. Or you might not since she's never actually mentioned anyone from school. Or brought home a friend for that matter."

From the back of the classroom, I heard a sigh and a thud. The whole class turned to the sound, seeing who we could only assume was Kira, with her head on her desk.

I cringed at the situation. I know I would personally hate if one of my parents were to do that to me. It's one thing being the new kid, and then on top of that having your parent as a teacher, and then the cherry on top? Them embarrassing you in front of all your new peers.

"Either way," Mr. Yukimura continued, gesturing to his daughter. "There she is."

She lifted her head from the desk slowly, smiling awkwardly as she sat back up. We all turned back to the front of the classroom as Mr. Yukimura finally began the class.

When the history class ended, we headed out into the hallway, stopping at Stiles' locker first. As he began to spin his combination lock, Scott spoke.
"Maybe we need a little more time to get back to normal."

Stiles didn't look away from the lock, "Yeah, try not to forget we hit the reset button on a supernatural beacon for supernatural creatures. There's a pretty good chance things are never going back to normal."

"Yeah."

Stiles began to roughly pull at the lock, confused as to why it wasn't open. He was staring at it funnily, eyes squinted as they drifted over the numbers.

Reaching over, I slipped my hand over the lock. "Let me do it," I said quietly. He removed his hands, shaking slightly as he nodded.

As I started spinning the lock, Stiles rested against the locker beside his. When he glanced over towards Scott, he quickly stood back up straight.
"Oh, dude, your eyes."

Looking up from the lock, I saw exactly what Stiles was referring to. Scott's eyes were glowing alpha red and he didn't seem to notice, considering he asked Stiles what he was talking about.

"They're starting to glow," Stiles explained.

Scott looked around nervously, "You mean like right now?"

"Yes, right now. Scott, stop. Stop it."

Scott looked towards the ground, beginning to breath quickly, "I can't. . . I can't control it."

I took a quick look around the hall to make sure no one was watching us. "We need to do something before someone sees him, Stiles."

He nodded, pulling Scott's head towards his chest, "All right, just keep your head down. Look down, come on. Riley, open the door."

Nodding, I walked fast over to a classroom a few doors down and pulled open the door, ushering the boys in. Stiles kept telling Scott to keep his head down as he herded him into the room.

Scott stumbled between the desks as he removed his jacket. Stiles and I tried to get closer, but he held up his hand, "Get back, get away from me."

"Scott, it's okay," Stiles told him as he moved closer.

"I don't know what's going to happen. Get back."

Stiles put an arm out to keep me back as Scott stood up straight, growling. Holding his arms up, he began to dig his claws into his hands, blood spilling to the ground as he growled in pain.

Slowly, he sank to the ground, his eyes extinguishing back to their normal brown as he panted. He looked at us wearily, his breathing slowing down, "Pain makes you human."

"Scott, this isn't just in our heads. This is real," Stiles told him. "And it's starting to get bad for me too."

I looked over at him, seeing his eyes soften as he gulped.
"I'm not just having nightmares. I'm having dreams where I have to literally scream myself awake. And sometimes I'm not even sure if I'm actually ever waking up."

"What do you mean?" Scott asked.

"Do you know how you can tell if you're dreaming?" Stiles asked me and Scott. "You can't read in dreams. More and more the past few days I've been having trouble reading."

This I didn't know. Apparently, he had neglected to let me in on the extent of what was going on with him.

"It's like I can't see the words," Stiles continued. "I can't put the letters in order."

"Like even now?" Scott asked him.

Stiles stood up slowly to look at the front of the room. His eyes drifted over the wall, before his expression began to darken. "I can't read a thing."
