The FINAL part! Let's go!

In honour of 10 years of Teen Wolf (currently in tears, how has it been 10 years?) here is the first chapter of part 9 a bit early

This part will be slightly shorter, but I hope you guys enjoy it either way.

——————————

I woke up to the sound of my alarm, groaning as I reached over and turned it off. I rolled over, finding the other side of the bed empty. Frowning, I sat up in my bed, looking around the bedroom.

"Good morning," Stiles said softly as he entered the room, a mug of coffee in each hand. He climbed back onto the bed carefully, handing me one of the hot beverages.

I accepted it, thanking him as I took a sip, before leaning over and kissing him. "How long have you been up for?" I asked, drinking more of the coffee.

"Not long. I just wanted to read over some more of the orientation material before class today," he explained.

It was going to be his first day at the FBI academy in Quantico today, and to say he was excited was an understatement. "You're going to do great," I assured him. "You were made for this, Agent Stilinski."

The boy smiled, taking my coffee back and placing both mugs on the bedside table. "And if I ever get hurt on the job, I've got my own personal nurse waiting for me at home."

"You will once she graduates," I laughed. "I don't even start for another month."

"I'd still trust you bandage me up," he shrugged, leaning over to kiss me.

"Is that right, Agent?" I smirked against his lips.

Stiles nodded, leaning in further. He brought a hand to my cheek, our lips moving together like they had so many times before.

I groaned, pulling away a bit, "I just woke up. I look awful."

Stiles caught my chin before I could move too far away, shaking his head. "You look perfect."

"You're such a liar," I chuckled, kissing him again.

He lowered his body down as his tongue slipped past my lips. I could feel his body heat warming my skin, the air in the room starting to swirl as my heart raced.

My hands found their way into his hair, fingers gripping the strands and tugging lightly. He moaned into my mouth, causing my stomach to twist.

His hands moved down my sides and stopped at my hips, his fingers hooking my pyjama shorts, sliding them down my legs slowly.

"I love you so much," he whispered, his lips moving from mine to trail down my neck, ghosting over my collar bone and the grey lightning-like marks left by the Dread Doctors.

"I love you, too," I breathed, my head falling back at the sensation of his lips against my skin.

Suddenly, my body was cold as he stopped kissing me, standing up with a smirk.
"I should probably go and get ready," he said, walking out of the room towards the bathroom.

Catching my breath, I scoffed as I watched him go, "Are you kidding?"

"Nope!" He called back.

I climbed off of the bed, leaving my shorts where Stiles had dropped them. I went into the bathroom where he was beginning to get ready for a shower, his shirt already missing.

I walked up behind him, my fingers trailing down the muscles on his back. He had been working out more since being accepted into the program, and it was definitely starting to show.

"It's not a very long drive from here to the academy," I shrugged, running my finger down his spine.

"I know," he mumbled. I felt him shiver beneath my touch, looking at me in the mirror.
"Just like how I knew you'd follow me in here."

"Oh? Is that right, Agent?"

"Yeah," he said, turning around and grabbing my waist, lifting me up onto the countertop beside the sink and moving to stand between my legs. "Because I know you better than anyone."

"Hmm, I don't know about that," I said, narrowing my eyes as I rested my hands on his shoulders.

"Really?" He asked, squeezing my waist with one hand as the other moved up to sit beneath my chin. "Because I think do. I know what you hate, and I know what you like."

"You know what I like?" I asked as I wrapped my legs around his waist, drawing him even closer as I put my arms around his neck. Leaning over, I grazed my lips down his ear, stopping to whisper, "Prove it."

Stiles walked into the kitchen later dressed in a suit and ready to go to his first day at the academy. I walked over, grabbing his tie and shifting it, tightening it.

"There," I said as I let it rest below his collar. "You're going to do amazing."

"Thanks, Ri," he smiled, holding my hands. "I'll see you for dinner. I love you."

"I love you, too," I smiled.

He kissed me one more time, before heading out the front door and off to his first day at the FBI.

After taking a proper shower, I went about cleaning our apartment. We had been living together for almost three months now and so far, things were great.

I had put down most of the money for our home with money that my mother had left me in her will and some of what Peter had given me. After the incident with the Ghost Riders, he set up accounts for both Malia and I, as a way to make amends of sorts, I guess.

Putting the rest from my parents into my savings, Stiles and I began to pay the rent with income from our jobs.

It wasn't big, but it was enough; a two-bedroom, one bathroom, four floors up in a building five minutes from George Washington University. Scott insisted on us getting the two-bedroom so he would have somewhere to sleep when he visited.

I found myself missing Beacon Hills every now and then, but then I remembered that ever since we'd moved here, we hadn't had to deal with any supernatural issues. Not one.

I checked in each day with Charlotte and Malia, just so that I knew what was going on, and it seemed like everything was going well.

My day went by slowly after I finished tidying up. I watched a movie and read some of my book, before I received a text.

Reading it, I smiled as I went and got my laptop. Switching it on, I face timed Charlotte.

They were quick to answer, both of them waving excitedly. "Riley. Hi, how are you?" Charlotte asked happily.

I smiled back, waving to the two women, "Hey, guys. I'm good, just trying to find ways to keep busy before school starts."

"I hope you're still coming down next month for the weekend?" Iris asked. "Your sister hasn't stopped going on about it."

"Of course," I laughed. "It's on the calendar; I'll be there."

"Great!" Charlotte grinned. "Where's Stiles? We want to congratulate him on his first day."

"He's not home yet, sorry. I'll text you when he is though."

"That's okay, we'll call back later and ask."

"How are things back home?"

The two women shared a look, both of them quick to smile. "They're good," Iris told me.

Something about the look they had shared had thrown me. "Really? It doesn't sound like it."

"Really," Charlotte insisted. "Let us know when Stiles gets home, and we'll call back."

I was still doubtful of them but knew they weren't about to tell me the truth. We all said goodbye, before hanging up.

I then scrolled through my contacts and found Malia's name, ringing her. I stared at my laptop screen, waiting patiently for her to answer.

When she did, I saw her sitting on her bed, a couple of books by her side. "Hey, Riley. I thought we were going to talk tomorrow morning?"

"Yeah, I know, sorry," I apologised. "I just wanted to check in. Something seemed a bit off with Charlotte and Iris, and I wanted to make sure everyone was okay."

The girl shrugged, "I mean, there's been some dead wolves, there was a piles of dead rats, and Lydia had a weird vision, but nothing's happened. I'm still going to Paris."

The way she had spoken was so non-chalent, but I knew she was lying. "Really? Because your flight left an hour ago, Mal."

She stumbled for a moment, her mouth opening and closing. "Right. Yeah, it did. I-"

"Tell me the truth."

Malia sighed, pushing the laptop back and I realised that she was in Scott's bedroom. She was then joined by Lydia, Scott and Isaac, who all gave me sad smiles.

"We told you not to say anything," Lydia said to Malia.

She shrugged, "I didn't think those things would matter."

"Of course they matter."

"Can someone please tell me what's going on?"

Scott's smile fell as he looked at me through the screen, "There has just been some. . . strange things happening. And there's a hunter who managed to kill a Hellhound."

My mouth fell open, "I thought that was impossible?"

"So did we," Isaac said.

"I'm coming back," I announced without hesitation. "I'm getting on a flight tomorrow."

Scott immediately shook his head, "No. We can handle this, Riley. You and Stiles-"

"Stiles won't be coming," I said, interrupting him. "I almost lost him last time. I'm not risking that again."

"Riley, please."

I sighed, "Scott, we've known each other nearly our whole lives. Do you really think you can change my mind?"

They all looked at each other, seeming disappointed that they had involved me. Isaac pursed his lips, "I guess we'll see you tomorrow, then."

"See you tomorrow," I confirmed, hanging up on them.

I immediately went onto the airline website searching for the earliest available flight tomorrow. Unfortunately, a lot of them were completely booked, the earliest I could get being just past midday.

Sighing in frustration, not wanting to have to wait that long, I went about purchasing a ticket.

As I put the payment through, the door to the apartment opened and Stiles walked in. His face was split in a massive grin as he put down his bag and walked over to me.

He leaned down, kissing me before pulling back. "Today was amazing."

"I'm glad," I grinned.

"You'll never guess what happened," he told me. "The professor was going introducing the program and was using a case they were looking at as an example, and guess who popped up on the screen? None other than your beloved cousin, Derek Hale."

"What?" I asked, genuinely confused.

"That's exactly what I was thinking!" He said, sitting down at the table with me. "They said that they were conducting a manhunt and that he's wanted for mass murder."

"Derek? There's no way," I said, voicing my doubts.

He nodded, "I know, I didn't think so either. I'm hoping to find out more about it tomorrow."

"Keep me updated?"

"You know I will," he confirmed. His eyes flickered to my laptop, his expression falling, "Where are you going?"

"Uh, back to Beacon Hills."

"I thought we were going next month?"

"I know," I nodded, trying to think of a plausible reason as to why I would be going without him. "I've just been missing home a bit, and I want to spend a bit more time with Charlotte and Iris before school starts."

He nodded, "I understand. I just wish I could come with you."

I reached out and held his hand, squeezing it. "It'll be fine, I'll be back soon. You need to focus on your classes."

"At least let me drive you to the airport?"

"I'm leaving midday, you'll be at school," I told him.

He frowned in disappointment, squeezing my hands right back. "I'm gonna miss you. It's gonna feel so quiet without you here."

"I'll be back before you know it," I smiled, pressing a kiss to his lips.

The next day Stiles and I had breakfast together before he left for school. I packed my bags after he left, printing out my ticket and calling a cab.

Going to the airport, I got on the plane and took the five-hour flight from Washington to California, catching another cab to Beacon Hills.

By the time I reached Scott's house, the sky was dark and I was exhausted. I was going to go and stay with Charlotte and Iris, but I needed to know what I had missed while I was gone.

I walked up to the porch with my suitcase, smiling when I saw the Jeep in the driveway. Knocking on the door, I took a step back and waited.

When the door opened, Scott was standing there smiling. He stepped out onto the porch with me, wrapping his arms around me.
"It's good to see you, Ri."

"You too, Scottie."

I followed him inside and into the kitchen where Lydia, Malia and Isaac all stood around the table. When they saw me enter, they all came over, taking turns saying hello and hugging me.

Reasons for being here aside, I had missed them all so much.

Once we got past the usual pleasantries, I tried to move the conversation along.
"So, what did I miss?

Like Malia had said, there had been dead wolves and rates. Liam and Scott had been seen by regular people with their eyes glowing and fangs bared. A hunter - who Lydia claimed was just a normal person - had managed to kill a Hellhound. Scott had found a bullet with the Argent insignia on the side. Argent was back, trying to figure out why gun sales were rising around town. Dr Fenris had tried to kill Parrish after killing all of the supernatural creatures already locked in the Closed Unit of Eichen. And that was just the beginning.

Now that we were finally all on the same page, we were able to start discussing what we thought was happening this time.

"He really killed all of them?" I clarified.

Lydia nodded, "He said he couldn't see it any other way."

"Well, I've got another way," Malia shrugged. "You don't kill everyone."

"I think he was afraid."

Scott sighed, looking across at us all. "The wolves, the rats. It keeps coming back to the same thing, fear."

"Okay, but what is everyone actually afraid of?" Isaac asked, leaning against the kitchen table.

Scott had been rolling something between his fingers. He reached out, setting it down on the table. By the looks of it, it appeared to be the remains of a silver bullet.
"Us."

My breathing slowed as what he said began to sink in. We all looked at each other, knowing that if our secret was out, it wasn't going to end well.

"We don't know what fear would do to somebody," Scott continued. "I mean, it can change them. They'll look at us differently. They'll do things that they've never done before."

"People can be so stupid," Malia stated.

"That's not it," I said, shaking my head. "They've seen what's happened here, but they usually just ignored it, someone convincing them it was something else."

Lydia agreed, "They're not stupid, they're scared."

"And scared people will do things that you wouldn't believe," Scott claimed.

Isaac looked up from the table, looking worried. "So, what do we do now?"

♧♤♢♡

Scott offered to drive me to my house, so we both went out the front and got into the Jeep. It was strange being in the car without Stiles.

"You didn't have to come back," he told me as he started the engine.

I glanced at him, lolling my head with a smile, "You really thought I was going to let you do this alone?"

He began to reverse, only to screech to a stop when he saw something out the back window. We both climbed out of the vehicle, walking around the back

"Lori?" Scott asked.

I thought back, recognising the name. "Wait, you're Brett's sister."

She nodded, holding something out to Scott, "I found this. It's Brett's, and he's missing and I heard gunshots."

What Scott was now holding was a broken lacrosse stick that was covered in blood.
Welcome back to Beacon Hills, Riley.

"How do you know this is his blood?" Scott asked, examining the lacrosse stick.

"Because he's my brother. It's mine, too."

Scott and I shared a look. What he's said about scared people and now suddenly a werewolf was missing.

I had learnt a long time ago that there was no such thing as a coincidence in Beacon Hills. Making a few calls, we got Liam and his friends to make their way over so that we could make a plan.

♧♤♢♡

We sent Mason and Corey with Lydia who wanted to try and force a premonition. She was hoping to use her ability to find Brett before he ended up dead.

I had wanted to go with her, but she had insisted I help the others search, claiming she didn't need three people watching her. Scott agreed, wanting as many people helping to search for Brett.

This led to Scott, Malia, Liam, Isaac, Lori and me walking through the woods in search of Brett. The wolves all led the way with their sense of smell, since I didn't have that ability, leading us to an arrow in a tree.

There was blood nearby and Brett's phone was beneath some leaves on the ground. At least we knew why his sister wasn't able to get into contact with him, which also gave hope that he might still be alive.

"I think he set a trap," Liam concluded as Lori picked up her brother's mobile.

Scott nodded, "He's fighting back."

"And now we know he's alive," Malia claimed.

Lori walked over to the tree and reached for the arrow. Grunting, she released it, turning it in her hands.
"But he's still hurt. We need to find him, he needs to know we're here."

She went to growl when Malia grabbed her arm.
"You want the hunter to know we're here, too?"

"He's new," Liam claimed, basing this on what had happened with the Hellbound. "We can take him."

"No offence, Liam, but I've faced a few more hunters than you, and it's not always that simple," Isaac pointed out.

He wasn't wrong. He had nearly been killed several times by hunters not long after he had been turned. Nearly every Argent had had a go at him, but he'd managed to make it out each time.

"And what if Brett howls back? Tha will lead whoever is after him straight to him," I said.

Scott stepped forward, shaking his head. "No, we could find him first. There's no human that can track sounds faster than we can. And we've got the advantage, we've done this before. We know what we're doing, guys."

"How come I can't catch his scent?" Malia asked.

Lori handed the arrow to Liam, answering the werecoyote. "He's masking it."

"Can someone tell him not to?"

"He went this way," Liam gasped, running off with the arrow.

Lori ran after him without a second thought. I was about to do the same when my phone began to ring.

I wasn't going to answer it until I saw Stiles' name on the screen. Holding a finger up to Scott to tell him to give me a minute, I walked a bit away from them.

Taking a breath I answered the phone. "Hey, Stiles. How was class?"

"It was good. No more news on Derek, though, sorry," he replied. "I thought you were going to call when you got to town?"

I winced, biting my lip. "I'm sorry. By the time I got here I was just so exhausted and I just-"

"It's fine," he said quickly, a soft laugh coming through the phone. "I'm just glad to hear you made it there safely."

I noticed Scott gesturing for me to hurry out the corner of my eye.

"Stiles, I'm still really tired. Do you mind if I call you back tomorrow morning?"

"Yeah, of course," he replied. "I love you."

"I love you, too," I replied, before hanging up and following after Scott.
"I hate having to lie to him."

"He'll understand," Isaac said as he began to walk beside me.

"It won't be for long," Scott promised as we followed Liam. "We'll find Brett, stop this hunter, and then things will go back to normal."

"I hope you're right."
