23|all for power
I swear, this season finale had me so stressed for Derek. So, here we are, final chapter of part 5. Enjoy!
Question of the Chapter: Last question, how are you enjoying the sequel so far? Honest thoughts,I know there's not many of you reading, but it means a lot to me.
——————————
"How bad is it?" Peter asked as we all watched Braeden try to apply pressure to the man's wound. There was blood everywhere and he looked much paler than normal.
The man waved us off, blood on his lips. "I'm fine, I'm fine. Just get to Scott. Just find him. We'll be right behind you. Go."
When none of us moved, he tried again, much louder. "Go!"
Everyone else began to walk inside except for Stiles and I, who watched Derek. The man attempted to smile, nodding to us. "Hey, save him."
Stiles hesitated, before nodding and grabbing my hand, leading me into the church.
We navigated the dark halls as best we could, but none of us had been here, so it made it difficult. Half way down one hall, Peter stopped abruptly, causing most of us to crash into each other.
"Okay, everyone stop, stop, stop, stop, stop," he insisted, looking at all of us. "We gotta figure out where we are, then we gotta figure out how to find Scott and Kira."
The six of us glanced around, before a phone broke our silence. Reaching for my pocket, I slipped mine out, but it wasn't mine.
Stiles grabbed his, looking confused. "How do I even have service. . ." he mumbled as he answered. "Hi, Dad. Okay, Dad, I know you're angry."
"Oh, I'm beyond angry," I heard the Sheriff reply with my hearing. I wouldn't normally listen in, but I was hoping it had something to do with Scott. "I've reached a level of fury that you could not possibly comprehend."
"Okay, well, when I get back, you can ground me."
"Ground you? Ground you? I'm going to hobble you!"
There was the sound of a sigh as the Sheriff collected himself. "Now, please, tell me you're all right. Tell me that you're safe."
"You want me to lie?" Stiles asked, looking back over to me. He knew I was listening, and I knew that he didn't want to worry his Dad. But we had to be here, and we had to save Scott.
"Oh, God. Okay. Tell me, tell me what I can do. How can I help?"
"Can you go and find Lydia? She was at the school when we called Mason to look for her, but now we're not hearing back from either of them. I don't know, Dad, I don't know what I'm going. You know, I'm just. . . I'm trying to save my friends."
"Okay. I'll find Lydia and Mason. You get Scott and Kira. You save your friends."
Stiles voice faltered as he replied, "Dad, if it's one of the Berserkers at the school, you're gonna need firepower. A lot."
He quickly said good bye, before returning to the rest of us. I was a bit worried about him, to be honest. He was always so concerned about everyone else that sometimes, he forgot about himself.
Grabbing his hand, I squeezed it gently, noticing that he was breathing unevenly. He was worried about his Dad going after Lydia. If there was a Berserker there, I had no idea how he was going to defend himself.
"What do we do now?" Liam asked.
"Duck," Malia said quickly, grabbing Liam by the back of the neck and forcing him down just in time. A Berserker came out of no where, swinging at the boy's head. Thanks to Malia, however, he missed.
Peter began to herd us all down the hallway immediately. "Get down. Go, go, go. Whoa! Get back! Get back! Go! Go, go, go, go!"
We all ran as fast as we possibly could, Stiles and I somehow managing not to let go of each other. Rushing around, we made our way into a rather large room completely covered in dust, dirt, and broken furniture.
As we stopped, Malia threw Kira's sword to Stiles, who caught it just. Luckily it was sheathed, or he probably would have lost a finger.
"You guys, go find Kira and Scott. Go!"
Stiles and I did as told without question, leaving Malia, Isaac, Liam and Peter to fight the Berserker that had come for us.
Holding the sword in one hand, Stiles grabbed a flashlight out of his pocket and held that up with the other. I focused on my ability, eyes glowing and power at the ready. I wasn't sure how much good it would be against the Berserkers, but if we came across another, I'm sure we'd find out.
"Scott?" Stiles called as we made our way down one of the halls.
"Kira?" I echoed.
We continued to call their names as we tried to navigate the labyrinth that was this church.
"You know, next time we're at a church," I panted. "It better be for something other then saving someone from being killed."
Stiles managed half a laugh as we searched, a bit out of breath. "I have some ideas."
Not wanting to walk the creepy hallways in complete silence, I continued. "Well, let's find them and then you can tell me all about them."
Turning down another hallway, Stiles jumped when he shone the light and Kira was standing in front of us. I breathed a sigh of relief as I ran to her, embracing her. "Thank God you're okay," I laughed. "Where's Scott?"
She shook her head as she pulled away from me. "It's Scott. Riley, it's Scott."
"What do you mean?"
"The Berserker. It's him. Kate did it."
"What are you talking about?" Stiles asked from behind me.
Kira looked so worried about the Alpha. "She made him into one of them. I don't know how, but it's him. If they don't know it, they could kill him."
Stiles' eyes widened in realisation, "That's why Lydia's not here. They won't know they're killing Scott."
"Oh, my God," I mumbled. Between Peter, Malia, Liam and Isaac, they had a very good chance at taking down a Berserker. Even a Berserker that was also a True Alpha.
"We need to go, right now."
Stiles handed Kira her sword, and without another word, we were moving.
The three of us ran back where Stiles and I had come from, moving as fast as we could. Kira managed to keep up, apparently not injured even though she was covered in a fair amount of blood. Had she learnt to heal?
When we reached the room where we had left the majority of our Pack, we saw Liam and Isaac had the Berserker pinned to a column as Malia held one of its knives up. She began to approach it, preparing to kill it.
"No, wait, wait," Stiles called as he skidded to a stop. "Malia, wait!"
Kira, realising that the girl wasn't stopping, swung her sword down. She managed to slice the bone knife in half, the sharper end clattering to the dusty floor.
Malia looked at us all in shock, confused as Kira held her sword in case she needed to use it again. The Kitsune focused on the two betas holding her boyfriend captive, threatening them with a look.
"It's Scott," Stiles explained. "It's Scott."
Liam listened to his words, taking the time to look at the Berserker. The Berserker, Scott, took this opportunity to throw Liam and Isaac off of him and free itself. Taking a step, he punched Malia in the face and then Isaac, before beginning to approach Liam.
Stiles stepped towards out friend, holding a hand up. "Scott? Scott, it's me"
Scott didn't hesitate before slamming a fist into the side of the boy's head. I watched as my boyfriend dropped to the floor, anger flowing through me.
Clenching my fists, I stepped in his path and began to command the air. Just as I was about to constrict him, he reached forward and grabbed me by the throat, squeezing until my eyes stopped glowing. When they did, he threw me across the room like a rag doll.
Rolling onto my side, I took ragged breaths as I touched a couple of fingers to my throat. That wasn't Scott.
I watched as he took a hold of Liam's shirt, lifting the beta off of the floor and holding him against one of the pillars. Kira was begging him to stop, but he wasn't listening.
"Scott," Liam begged as the Alpha closed a hand around his throat and began to squeeze.
We all stood by, knowing that if we approached, Scott would do something to the boy.
When the Alpha rose his unoccupied fist, that was when Liam began to freak out.
"Scott, Scott, listen, listen, listen!" The beta pleaded. "You're not a monster! You're a werewolf! Like me."
Slowly, the Alpha began to lower his fist and Liam. As soon as he was away from the boy, I got up off the ground and went over to make sure he was okay. Liam nodded, and we both turned to see what was happening.
Scott was walking away from us, beginning to tear away his Berserker armour. Everyone watched silently, unsure if we should be attacking or not.
He tore off the chest plate, before reaching up and grabbing the bone mask. His arms tensed as he pulled before he ripped it in half with an incredible, prolonged roar.
Underneath, he had transformed, his eyes glowing crimson red as he turned to face us all. The Alpha heaved as he dropped the mask, staring across the room.
"You," he stated accusingly.
We all shifted to see who he was looking at. Peter; unsurprisingly. I knew he couldn't be trusted.
"The only one who knew as much as Argent about Berserkers. About the Nagual. You taught Kate. You helped her. All for power."
"For my family's power," the man corrected angrily. I walked away from Liam slowly, making my way to Malia. Grabbing her hand, I lead her away from him slightly, to which she didn't object.
"To be rightfully inherited by me. Not usurped by some idiot teenage boy, so incorruptible, he wouldn't shed the blood of his enemies even when justified."
Scott's shoulder rose and fell as he breathed, anger radiating from him. Malia and I took another step back, not liking where this was going.
"You don't deserve your power," Peter said, the echo of a growl in his voice. His eyes began to glow a bright cobalt blue as he shifted into his werewolf form. "Not power like this."
He roared angrily, preparing to attack. Malia shook me loose, growling also and running towards Peter. He didn't hesitate to throw her across the room, where she landed roughly against a slab of cement.
"Oh, I'm sorry, sweetheart, we'll talk about this later," he said through his fangs.
I ran over to the girl, who was groaning with a hand held to her head. I was just glad she was still alive.
Kira spun her sword, ready to approach the man. She had barely taken one step when Scott had called her name, gesturing for her to stand back.
Kira, Liam, Isaac, Stiles and I all watched as the two wolves began to square each other up.
"You were my Beta first, Scott," Peter reminded the boy. "It was my bite that changed your life. And my bite that can end it."
"Then, end it, Peter," Scott responded without fear. "Because you won't get another chance."
The two growled, before running and jumping at each other in a way that reminded me of something right out of 'The Matrix'. I knew Scott well enough to know that he had a good chance of defeating Peter, especially now that he was an Alpha. So I stayed back like everyone else, protecting my sister.
Kira crouched down beside the two of us while Stiles stood behind a pillar and Isaac and Liam were off to the side together.
The fight was seeming pretty equally matched so far, each throwing punch for punch. After a few more hits, Peter had managed to knock Scott to the ground. I went to go and help him, but Kira reluctantly held me back. This was his fight, and it was a long time coming.
Peter almost laughed as he grabbed the boy by the neck. "You want to beat me? You're going to have to kill me!"
Grabbing Scott's arm with his other hand, he propelled the boy across the room. Scott slammed into the brick wall, collapsing to the ground with a groan.
Liam took a few steps forward, but Peter noticed immediately. The man grabbed a pew, throwing it right at the Beta.
Thankfully, it hit a pillar before it reached him, shattering on impact. Seeing the man attack his Beta seemed to flip a switch in Scott's head.
The Alpha stood back up, a look of calm and focus on his face. As Peter began to attack, Scott defended himself with ease, blocking each and every swing that Peter took.
We all noticed the turn the fight had taken. Scott was using Peter's anger against him, allowing him to take swings that were off-balance, and easily pushing him away.
Finally, Scott hit back. Digging deep, he punched Peter with a powerful uppercut. The man went flying backwards over the church altar, hitting the wall.
Scott jumped onto the alter, standing to tower above the Beta. "You were never an Alpha, Peter," he told the man solemnly. "But you were always a monster."
Peter growled, getting ready to pounce on Scott. This time, the Alpha hit first. He jumped from the alter, using the momentum to slam his fist into Peter's face, successfully knocking him out cold.
The rest of us left our viewing points to stand together, staring at Scott. He had won.
Our Alpha turned to face us, the moonlight shining through the church window almost symbolically.
It felt like we had finally ended the cycle that we had started with Peter so many full moons ago. Scott had finally defeated him; overcome him.

The sun had risen on La Iglesia and we all stood out the front, preparing to go home. I stood with Stiles' arms wrapped around me, Liam, Malia and Isaac standing around us.
While we had been fighting inside Argent, Parrish and the Calaveras family had arrived to help. They had tried to capture Kate, but she had gotten away.
Derek was alive as well, apparently having evolved also. Whatever that meant. Anything was better than dead, at this point.
"There's enough yellow wolfsbane to keep Peter out for the trip back," Chris informed Scott. "But be careful."
The Alpha stood a couple of metres away with Kira at his side, facing Argent. "You're really going with them?"
"I made a deal with the Calaveras weeks ago. They'll leave you alone. All of you. But only if I help them catch Kate."
"What if you can't?" The Kitsune asked.
"I'll find her," the man assured her. "Someone has to."
And if there was anyone who was going to be able to hunt down that psycho bitch, it was Chris Argent.
We all watched as he walked away with the Calaveras, not knowing when we'd see him again.
Slowly, our Pack made its way back together. Scott, Stiles and I all looked at each other. We were so different to the people who had first faced Peter back at the Hale house. Things were so different now.
We had a Pack, and we had all survived. I had faith that together, we'd be able to face anything that came our way. We weren't going to lose anyone else.

The ride home had been tiring, but I was just happy to be back. We went back to where I had left the jeep so that there were enough cars for everyone to go where they needed to go.
With Riley by my side, we walked through the station towards my father's office. Heading through the door, I saw him leaning against his desk.
As soon as he laid eyes on us, he breathed a sigh of relief. He immediately walked over to me, wrapping his arms around me tightly. I hated worrying him like that, but he knew I wasn't going to leave Scott there.
"Dad, you smell terrible," I told him, patting him on the back.
He chuckled, "Yup. You do too."
Pulling away from him, he left a hand on my shoulder as he turned to face my girlfriend. He smiled as he reached an arm out. "Hi, Riley."
She stepped forward, looking a bit nervous, before smiling. We had a short little group-hug before my father sighed and pulled away again.
"I'm so glad you're both safe," my father told us. "Hey, what do you say we get outta here, get something to eat?"
Riley's eyes widened as she smiled. "That would be amazing."
"Okay. We'll call Charlotte and Iris on the way and they can meet us there."
"Great," I grinned. "I'm starving."
My father put a hand on Riley's back and began to lead her out of the room. I went to follow but almost tripped when something pulled me back.
Looking down, I realised that my father had handcuffed me to a desk. "Yo, Daddy?"
Riley glanced over her shoulder as my Dad continued to walk her out of the room, not responding to me.
"What do you feel like to eat, Riley?"
She seemed torn, eyes going from me to my father. "Um, pizza?"
"Hey," I called. "Dad?"
This time he looked back, a sly smile on his face. He didn't say a word, just walked out.
"Ri? A little help."
She didn't get the chance to respond, my dad not stopping for anything that I was saying.
I sat on the desk I was cuffed to, defeated.
"Bring me back a slice?" I called after them.
It was the least they could do if they were going to leave me cuffed to a desk.

The next day at school was about as successful as my first encounter with my dad. Liam, Scott, Isaac and I had to go to the locker room and try to convince Coach that we had a good reason for ditching the game and missing training.
"Then Stiles said that Scott and Kira were stuck in Mexico which was why they missed the game," Liam told the man. "Uh, so we went down to Mexico to drive them back from Mexico and that's why we all missed practice. 'Cause. . . we were all in Mexico."
Scott, Isaac and I all visibly cringed at Liam's attempt to explain why we were gone. The look on Coach's face was telling me that he wasn't exactly buying this story.
Coach looked at Scott, a questioning look on his face. "You took Kira on a date to Mexico?"
"It was our first real date," The Alpha responded, not sounding as confident as when he had faced Peter.
I mean, my first date with Riley was dinner and a movie, but sure. . . Mexico sounded believable.
"In Mexico?"
Isaac shrugged, "Go big, or go home, Coach."
"Okay. I believe you," he told us calmly, nodding.
"Really?" Liam asked enthusiastically.
"Absolutely not," the man replied firmly. "But I've had experiences south of the border that would knock the genitals off you boys. Still, let me be clear to you three," he said, gesturing to Isaac, Scott and me.
"This kid's the best talent I've seen in years," he continued. "So he's your responsibility now. You boys are gonna stick together. You're gonna look out for each other. And you're gonna have each other's backs. You got it?"
Scott smiled as he turned to the Beta. "We got it."
Isaac rose a hand slightly, "I mean, Stilinski and I aren't captains, so I don't really think he's our responsibility."
"I said do you got it?" Coach repeated angrily.
"Yeah, yeah, sure thing, Coach," Isaac replied quickly.
I chuckled to myself lightly at Coach telling him off. Sometimes, I felt like the man knew about more than he let on.
Maybe it was the way he spoke, I'm not sure. Either way, we were lucky to have a teacher like Coach.

"So, how long until you think we have to face our next supernatural disturbance?" I asked as we lay on the couch in my living room watching whatever 'Star Wars' movie I was up to.
"Shhh, you're missing a good part!" Stiles hissed.
"Sorry," I chuckled, quietening down.
Sure, this wasn't my first pick of movie, but it made Stiles happy. We hadn't spoken about the comments that we'd made in the Church, or how they related to what we'd said in the Preserve, but it didn't matter.
We both knew what the words meant. I for one was certain; I was going to spend the rest of my life with this boy.
