Cold | ELEGY DRAFT
(This is a draft. Constructive criticism is ENCOURAGED and REQUESTED for this particular poem.)
Sitting in my car
I can see my foggy breath
Clouding the windshield
Freezing, still air
Replaced by a frigid breeze
Chills against warm skin
Exhilarating, addictive
Like I could stay forever
Only seventeen minutes in
Numbing fingertips, trembling frame
How long will it take
To get used to this
Enclosed in warmth again
Body still shaking
Frost melting away
At ease, at last
Tension evaporating
Heatwaves lulling me to brief rest
Willpower faltering
At peace, sleep so near
Woken by cold gusts
Adrenaline, my only heat source
Bitter wind howling, biting
The air stills, lifeless
The cold envelops me
Nothing is heard
Nothing is alive, anymore
