𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐄𝐅 𝐇𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐑𝐀𝐈𝐓𝐒

Now that you've made it past Highfrost, allow me to give you some insight on these fairly new and alien creatures.

Welcome to Hollowfell Pack.

Started by, well...all of them, actually. Only a few months ago, the dogs of Hollowfell were flattened underneath the hand of Man. Their genetics had been bred out over time, stemming from the great Dires of the north in hopes that they could come up with a more domesticated canine. A companion, to say the least, that Man hoped would protect them and help them on their hunts. However, it was far too soon for the wild and primitive instinct to be snatched from these dogs and Man was very inexperienced.

No matter how much they would attempt to 'breed the wolf out of the dog', they were never fully successful. They were left with canines of a high wolf percentage and lower 'domesticated' percentages. Wolfdogs, they called them. A creature who absolutely refused to serve Man. Those who were a tad more successful than others ended up with dogs that would closely resemble a wolf in appearance, yet have the behavior of a more 'tamed' canine, if you will.

Over time they grew fed up with the antics of Man and their frustrating drive to get them to bend to their will. So, out of instinct to be free with each other, they turned on Man as a warning before fleeing into the unforgiving wilderness.

There they decided it would be best to come together as a group and therefore named themselves the Hollowfell Pack. The oldest, wisest, and most experienced of the dogs created a Council of three and agreed that a Leader would be voted on and decided by the Council and Pack as a whole eventually.

The dogs of Hollowfell are ambitious and adventurous, with the wild blood of the ancestors flowing strong through their veins. They are mostly a band of nomads, never truly staying in one place for too long as they have yet to find a place that calls to them as home.

Due to some of them still closely bearing the blood of the wolven ancestors, their sizes differ greatly. Some may reach the size of a normal canine while others, such as the true hybrids, nearly equal the size of the Dires at around three to four feet.

𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐏 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐓

Their temporary camp, the location they've been at the longest, is located deep within a stretch of forest to the East of Highfrost.

A long, frozen winding river separates the two territories.

The camp is surrounded by towering pines and thick bushes and stones within a clearing with a gap toward the front being the only visible entrance and exit.

The Council's den is a deep hole dug within the midst of a huge cluster of bushes to the northwest, closed off by twigs and moss at night to block the biting cold. Inside is lined in layers of soft, dry moss and straw.

Further towards the back is a pile of tall rocks in a tepee-like build with a massive log leaning up against it. The large gap in the middle makes up the Leader's den. It is sealed off by thick hanging vines to block the wind and inside is also layered with moss. The log serves as a perch for the Leader to hold meetings.

To the East is a huge willow tree with a burrow of sorts dug out in its roots, making up the Medic's den. The upper level is where the Medic and their rookie sleep and deeper into the ground is a space where the sick and injured stay as well as their herb supply.

The Soldiers and Hunters sleep under a large half broken log buried in the ground with moss and straw bedding. The nursery is located inside a big cluster of thick bramble and holly bushes. Inside is lined with feathers and moss while thorny vines barricade the entrance and 'walls'.

There is a very large dug out hole in the middle of the camp where the dogs store the prey they bring back. They cover it with snow which helps to freeze and preserve the carcasses to delay any rotting.

𝐋𝐀𝐖 𝐎𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐊

❝ It was once a vision to stray from the more brutal ways of our ancestors. ❞

For the most part, despite only recently starting as a Pack, Hollowfell seems to have a few 'laws' set in stone for themselves.

⇒ Depending on the situation and if the Leader doesn't seem to be doing their job properly, the Council holds the power to override any decisions made by said Leader. They technically hold just a bit more power politics-wise than the Leader in general.

⇒ Leaders are elected via the vote of the pack and Council. Their offspring do not inherit their title and will often times grow to train as either soldier or hunter rookies. Sometimes to even be a Medic rookie. However, if a child of the Leader wishes to participate as a potential candidate for the spot, they can. But it is not always guaranteed they will receive the votes.

⇒ The Leader gets to hand pick their Right Paw. The Council has no say.

⇒ Only after the Council has looked into something in-depth and considered every option, can the Leader make the final decision. Basically, everything must pass through the Council first.

⇒ The Council, Leader, and Right Paw are first to a meal. Then it is Mother's and pups, any Elders, Medic and their rookie, Soldiers and Hunters.

⇒ Any crime committed is tried before the Council and pack. Both the Leader and Council decide upon the fate of the guilty. Also, any serious arguments or quarrels are taken before the Council as well.

⇒ 𝐔𝐋𝐑𝐈𝐂 — A massive Akita of black, white, and various shades of brown. He has large paws and is seemingly rather bear-ish. His eyes are a dark chocolate in color. (whistleblown- )
⇒ 𝐎𝐓𝐒𝐎 — A large, heavy-set chow chow with a fawn and cream coat, dark colored ears and small, cloudy, coffee-colored eyes. His muzzle has begun greying alongside of his nose and his tongue is an odd bluish color. (diinobaby- )

⇒ 𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐀 — A petite little King Charles cavalier, with only a small amount of muscle in their legs and jaw. Their fur looks soft, and it is colored a white with light colored brown markings.
