"So do you feel like you can kick some ass yet?" Alaska asked as she looked over at Miguel who sat at her kitchen bar. She invited him over this morning, feeling the need to involve him in the group. Thursday's Alaska's parents were often times both working, meaning the boys often times came for breakfast that day.
"Not necessarily." he said with a small laugh, picking at the blueberry muffin she put infront of him a few minutes ago, "But i'm feeling stronger, more confident."
Alaska grinned at his words, looking over toward Demetri and Eli who were in the living room, flipping through her DVR to find the newest Doctor Who episode, "Maybe you could talk them into it."
Miguel gave her a crazy look, "Them?"
"Don't you judge, you're also a nerdy no body." Alaska said as he rolled his eyes at her statement, "Both of them could use a little confidence, if that means having to kick ass in the process then so be it."
"I'll talk to my sensei." Miguel nodded his head at her words, taking a bit of the blueberry muffin, "I like your house."
"Do you?" Alaska asked with a hum, "You'll be surprised how many people overdosed right where you're sitting."
Miguel's face fell as he paled, staring at her as she shrugged, "Dads a drug lord."
Miguel looked around in shock, chocking on the muffin slightly, "Is he?"
Alaska shrugged with a nod of her head, "Yeah, it has its perks but I try to stay out of it. Besides, i'd rather have a weird ass home life with money then a simi decent home life without it. People can say money doesn't by happiness all they want, but that's not completely true, just a little maybe."
"I like your honesty." Miguel spoke as Demetri and Eli walked into the kitchen, bickering slightly.
"Someone has to be the one to say it." Alaska answered with a shrug of her shoulders, looking toward the boys who were arguing back and forth, "Whats the problem?"
"You didn't record the new episode!" Demetri said with a look of disbelief across his face, "How are we supposed to watch it now?"
"I don't know, illegal websites." Alaska shrugged her shoulders, looking to Eli who had a guilty expression across his face, "Whatd you do?"
"I didn't mean to.." he trailed off, looking away and biting at the inside of his mouth with a flushed face.
"Eli." Alaska said in a warning tone, "What'd you do?"
"He deleted all your Teen Wolfs." Demetri said quickly as Eli look at him in betrayal, a dramatic gasp leaning Alaska lips as she stared at Eli in disbelief.
"You know those aren't on Netflix, Prime, or Hulu." she said, mouth gapping at him as her eyes went wide.
"Are we always this dramatic? Because I think I need to up my game a bit." Miguel spoke with a laugh, grabbing another blueberry muffin from the tray and leaning on the counter.
"Shh, I want to see if she'll actually yell at him." Demetri said, watching intensely and taking the muffin from Miguel's hands.
"I'm really sorry, Alaska. Your tv is just different then mine." Eli said with a half, sad smile. He rocked on his heels slightly under her stare, "You could get the MTV app."
"Wait for it." Demetri said, grinning as he saw her face turn a bright red, fist clinching at her sides. He knew the look well, always getting it before she laid a loud, over the top lecture on him.
"It's okay." Alaska said with a sigh, unclenching her fist by her side.
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me!" Demetri yelled out in disbelief, throwing the muffin between the two as Alaska looked over in disbelief, "If I did it you'd bite my head off!"
"Difference is, you'd do it on purpose." Alaska said with a knowing look, putting one arm around Eli and using her free hand to squeeze his cheeks slightly, "And look at his little face, Meat, how could I get mad?"
Alaska held Eli's squished face toward the pair.
"Oh yeah, impossible." Miguel said sarcastically, sitting down again and taking a drink of the juice she gave him, "Pineapple juice? I thought it was orange?"
"It's good for your vagina." Alaska said with a shrug of her shoulders.
"I don't have a vagina though." Miguel said with a confused expression across his face.
"So? It'll still help with battery acid taste." Alaska said with a encouraged look, making Miguel sip at it again.
"Are we doing a group costume this year for the Halloween dance again? Because I was thinking necromancers." Demetri said with a grin, talking with his mouth full.
"We were wizards last year." Eli said, pulling the muffin apart to count the blueberries inside.
"It's completely different!" Demetri defended himself as he look to Eli then to Alaska, "What do the two of you watch now? Porn?"
"We watch Greys Anatomy now actually. We like Christina." Alaska corrected him as Demetri rolled his eyes, "Besides, i'm not going."
"You're not going to the dance?" Eli asked, looking at her with wide, questionable eyes.
"What? Why?" Miguel asked with a whine.
"Mom needs me to work Squeaky Lee's." Alaska said as Eli and Demetri sighed.
"Is Squeaky Lee's code for drugs?" Miguel asked with a alarming look across his face. Demetri snorted while Alaska grinned.
"No, you Pillock, we own a car wash." Alaska said with a laugh as Miguel sighed in relief, "They're gonna be out for their anniversary and we have the whole haunted car wash theme happening that night."
"What time do you close? Maybe we could come by after?" Miguel offered with a hopeful look.
"Usually at seven but we're open until four in the morning tomorrow, I switched shifts at midnight though." Alaska said to him as Miguel nodded his head, Eli looked to her with a sad look, "Aw, it'll still be fun."
Eli shrugged and looked away.
"Are you driving us this morning or.." Demetri trailed off, checking his star wars watch knowingly, "Because I hate your car."
"You can walk if you want." Alaska commented, pinning two strands of her hair back with a pearl bobby pin, "Break a sweat."
"What's wrong with her car?" Miguel asked in a alarmed manor, following after the pair as Eli turned the stove off, considering Alaska had forgot.
"Hers is in the shop because she crashed it. The rental only has two seats." Eli said as he shook his head in slight fear, "Demetri and I usually have to sit on each other."
"How's it gonna work this time?" Miguel asked as the pair walked out, already hearing Alaska and Demetri arguing from the garage.
"I don't wanna think about it." Eli said with a shake of his head, locking the door and hiding the key back in the fake plant. Alaska car started up as a scream echoed, the pair walked forward, seeing Demetri on top of the red mercedes, holding on for dear life.
"Miguel, I hope you don't mind sitting on Eli." Alaska said as she rolled down the window to look at the pair. Demetri yelled again as she backed up farther.
Eli and Miguel shared a wide eyed look.
"Cyberbullying is no laughing matter. Sending a cruel message to someone online can be just as hurtful as saying it to their face." the guidance counselor spoke to the group of teens that were all sat in the cafeteria that morning, "I'm not gonna name names, but the other day a mother called me up because her son was crying after some kids online made fun of his facial deformity."
Eli turned a bright red as he hid his lip scar, kids around the cafeteria all turning and looking at him with whispers. Alaska pulled her jacket off and put it over Eli's head to hide him, sending her middle finger toward Yasmine who only smirked and waved.
"But today, our goal here is to make this school a safe place for all students." she finished with a smile as if she hadn't just humiliated Eli infront of everyone.
"You know, if you're sick of getting bullied, my karate dojo's looking for recruits." Miguel said quietly toward Eli with a sigh, the boy peaked out from under Alaska's jacket.
"Yeah, right. You hear that, Eli? A little karate training, and you're gonna kick some major ass." Demetri mocked as Alaska hit him in the shoulder with a knowing look.
"Maybe he could, he's got strong arms." Alaska said knowingly as Miguel waited for her to go on while Eli hide under her jacket again, "One time my dresser fell on top of me and he lifted it up."
"Your dresser fell... on top of you?" Miguel asked with parted lips and a violent blink.
"That was just an adrenaline rush." Eli said from under the jacket, his voice muffled, "Also pulled my arm out of socket."
"See." Demetri said knowingly as she rolled her eyes, "Karate, psh!"
"I'm serious, Demetri." Miguel said as he shifted to look toward the darker haired boy. "My sensei's the real deal. I'm sure I could get the three of you discounts."
"As enticing as that sounds, I think we'd rather spend our afternoons playing Crucible Control then getting hit in the face." Demetri said as Alaska scoffed at his words, nodding toward Eli with her head.
"Not us, we'll be attending Grey's University where we learn how to do surgery in the middle of a hospital shooting." Alaska said as Eli moved from under the jacket to glare at her, "Sorry, I know you hate that episode."
"Oh and one last thing." the counselor added in quickly, "While we're all looking forward to the Halloween dance, let's make sure our costumes are culturally sensitive. For example, instead of sexy nurse, maybe try gender-neutral hospital employee."
"You guys are gonna have so much fun." Alaska teased as Miguel look at her in disbelief, "Whole bunch of gender-neutral hospital employees just walking around."
