Alaska passed her fathers office, looking inside and finding he wasn't there. As she shut the doors she headed down stairs, finding her mom in the kitchen, cutting a sandwich. After last night, the pair didn't speak much once the LaRussos and Robby left. When Alaska cleared her throat, Gina looked up with a sigh, "Morning."
"Morning." Alaska said back, standing awkwardly by the stairs, "Is that a sandwich you're making or are you just pretending it's me?"
Gina tried to hide her smile as she cut the sandwich in fours, her favorite way to eat them, "Is that your way of apologizing?"
"It is." Alaska said as she walked over hesitantly, "I'm really sorry for how i've been actually lately, there's just a lot happening in my brain lately."
Gina looked at her daughter with a small sigh, "Why can't you come to me about it? You always use to talk to me about your problems."
Alaska truly wished she could talk to her parents about going through her sobriety, she knew they'd be the two people that would help her more then anything. But she couldn't, and she knew that, "It's more of a internal thing, I guess."
Gina sighed as she gave Alaska one of the squares, "Honey, I know your father and I haven't been very good at communicating lately."
Alaska was glad she bite into the sandwich, if she hadn't she'd probably snap at her.
"The arguing, I know it isn't easy on you either." Gina said with a nod. Alaska wondered why now, after two years, she finally wanted to talk about it, "We've just been having a lot of differences lately, and it's not your fault, non of it. We've started looking into marriage councilors."
Alaska sighed in relief at her words, thankful maybe for once the arguing would stop and she wouldn't want to rip her hair out, "Thats really good, mom, but if you're just doing it for me-"
"I love your father." Gina cut her off quickly with a small nod, a sad smile on her face, "I've always loved him, he's the center of my world. We've gone through a rough patch, I can admit that, but it's because we couldn't communicate like we use to. We've both changed over the years, that's not necessarily a bad thing but our ways are different then how they were back then when we were young and carefree. We've got to grow though, work together so we don't break."
Alaska took her words to heart as she looked down, eyeing the hawk tattoo on her finger. Gina watched Alaskas familiar facial expression, "Maybe you needed to hear that too?"
"Maybe so." Alaska said with a sigh, looking up at her mother. Their eyes were the exact same, a chestnut brown color that was easy to get lost in if you stared long enough, "Did you miss dad? When the two of you argued? When you forgot how to communicate."
"All the time." Gina said with a small smile, listening to Zanes laugh from the garage, "It all just had to start when you put all your cards on the table, get everything off your chest, then that's when you can understand each other."
"What if I can't just saying everything though? What if i'm not even completely sure myself what i'm feeling?" Alaska asked, slight worry in her eyes as she twisted her rings. She though of Eli, she though of how different they've been and how she's been feeling. Sure, she had some sense of understanding what was happening, but she wasn't completely sure.
"Then you take it one day at a time, baby steps are better then non." Gina said to her with a smile, circling the table to hug her daughter tightly. Alaska realized she hadn't hugged her mom in quite some time, wrapping her arms around her tightly and hugging her back. Her eyes found the kitchen clock, holding the woman for a moment longer before pulling back.
"I've gotta go, Sensei needs me." Alaska said as her mom kissed her forehead, nodding and watching her leave.
Alaska smiled to herself, a small weight off her chest, as she opened the garage door. Her fathers laugh mixed with another voice made her snap her eyes up, finding Zane balancing on his skateboard he'd gotten out for the first time in a while, "Dad?"
Robbys eyes snapped to Alaska's, getting off his own skateboard as she eyed him oddly.
"Hello, darling." Zane said as he got off his board, "Robby was just showing me a few moves, I forgot what it's like being on one of these."
"It has been awhile." Alaska said as she looked to Robby who stood awkwardly in the corner of her garage, "What are you doing here?"
"I was just bringing back the tupperware from the left overs last night." Robby said, handing Alaska the plastic square that was cleaned and empty, "I should go."
"We'll have to do this again." Zane said as he smiled at Robby while putting his skateboard back up on the wall, where it's hung for over ten years, "I'm a bit rusty."
"Better then I am." Robby said with a laugh as he shook the mans hand before looking at Alaska, "Thanks for the leftovers."
"I'll walk you." she said with a forced smile, nodding as he followed her down the driveway where her car was parked on the street from the wash it got last night. Robby gave Zane a wave over his shoulder as the pair walked, "When I said we didn't have to be enemies, I didn't mean you can just show up at my house like my best friend."
"I swear I was just bringing that back, your dad and I just got to talking." Robby said honestly as he stood before her car with her, putting his skateboard on the ground, "Won't happen again."
"My dad." Alaska said, reaching forward and grabbing Robbys arm to stop him from leaving, "He likes you, why?"
"I wouldn't know." Robby said with a shrug of his shoulders, "Maybe skating, why?"
"He just doesn't like most people." Alaska said honestly, giving him a tight lipped smile, "Thanks for bringing my stuff back."
Robby gave her a half grin, strapping his helmet on, "Later."
With just one word, he was off, balancing and skating down her street so casually that it almost didn't seem like something completely out of the ordinary.
"So I did a deep dive online, and you were right. Sensei's definitely Keenes father." Hawk spoke to Miguel as the two, along with Alaska, sat on the mat together. Two stretching while the other sat just to be close.
Miguel sighed as he shook his head, "I just don't understand why he wouldn't tell us."
"Maybe he's just a sperm doner? He was short on money for bills and needed a little extra cash." Alaska said with a shrug, hoping to find any other solution for the problem.
"I don't think that's it but maybe." Hawk said, softer toward her. Alaska hadn't spoken to him, barley even looked at him, all morning long. He attempted to get to her with some form of soft words but failed tremendously, "But it explains why he's giving us shit for kicking Keenes ass at the tournament. Show no mercy, unless it's his son."
"He was at my house." Alaska said suddenly as the pair of boys look at her, "Last night, he came to dinner with the LaRussos."
"In your house? Did he do anything?" Miguel asked suddenly and with wide, worried eyes, stopping his stretching.
"No, he actually was being nice to me." Alaska said with a shrug of her shoulders, "I didn't say anything because I wasn't sure if he was actually his son or not."
"Nice? Are you kidding? Did he hurt you?" Hawk asked, grabbing her elbow quickly. Alaska looked at him like he was stupid, pulling her arms away
"Do I look hurt to you?" she questioned in disbelief, rolling her eyes.
"No, just pissed off for some reason, once again." he commented. Miguel huffed, knowing this was going to take a turn, "What? You're all best friends with the enemy now?"
"This has nothing to do with the enemy." Alaska said back, whisper yelling to avoid attention being drawn, "Its about you going off and hooking up with Moon."
"You hooked up with Moon?" Miguel asked with wide eyes.
Hawk went red as he looked to Alaska, "What do you care?"
"I absolutely do not care." she said with a eye roll back at him, "But I-"
"You guys, have you seen the commercial?" Aisha asked as she hurried over to the trio with panic in her eyes. The three shared a confused look as they looked up at her, "Sams dad started his own dojo and he disses Cobra Kai!"
"No f-ing way." Alaska said as she looked at Hawk quickly, "We gotta do something."
He grinned, more so glad she wasn't mad at him for once. Alaska rose quickly, "Where you going?"
"To get information!" Alaska yelled back as she ran out of the dojo quickly.
