"Damn it! How do they make it look so easy on Hillbilly Handfishin?" Mitch asked in disbelief, the group going back to trying to catch a fish the next day.
"And Naked And Afraid." Alaska huffed, holding onto the rock as she basically had her entire arm in the water. Wyatt didn't want to stare, but he had never seen the insides of her elbows this close before. While it wasn't too bad, being in the light, he could make out the scars she had from shooting up months ago. He knew about what happened, as did everyone, but he started to feel guilty knowing she was reminded of it each time she looked down at her elbows.
"Agh! Shit! This is impossible!" Hawk yelled in disbelief, been in a mood all morning, and wasn't necessarily the most talkative at mini golf last night, leaving pretty early. Wyatt asked Alaska what was going on with him, she swore she didn't know.
"Patience." Daniel reassured them.
"Patience my ass." Alaska said bitterly.
Daniel laughed at her slightly, circling the group more. "You'll figure it out."
His words clearly struck a nerve in Miguel, looking over in realization. He looked at Alaska next to him, despite Wyatt warning him about being near her again. "You said you never noticed the koi before? Even though you've gotten into the pond twice?"
"Yes, no need to call me out on an embarrassing moment, Miguel." she rolled her eyes, pushing her hair back after it fell from behind her ears from leaning over the pond so much.
"No." he waved her off, turning and crawling into the pond again. He nodded to the group. "Come on. Get in."
They all looked at him in disbelief slightly, Wyatt shrugged his shoulders. "Not any worse then reaching into the fish tank at the mini golf place."
His words had him, Alaska, and Hawk crawling in. Mitch and Bert followed soon after, the Lee girl making sure Bert didn't fall when he got in.
"Follow my lead. Walk in a circle." Miguel encouraged the Eagle Fangs, eyes darting around the koi.
Wyatt and Alaska shared a look, taking Miguels advice as the students all began to walk in a circle around the pond. Miguel's idea seemed to cause the fish to swim away from their bodies. Eli grinned. "Hey, it's working. They're going under the board."
Miguel let out a yell, grasping one of the koi fish as he held it above his head. Daniel cheered. "We have a winner! Good job, Miguel. Good job."
Daniel had gotten them all towels, the each wrapped up in it and warming up into the dojo. Alaska, being the bigger person, walking toward Hawk. "Hey."
His eyes looked up at her from the floor. "Oh, hey."
He said it as if he didn't see her all day. The Lee girl sat down, crossing her legs. "About yesterday...are we cool? That was, like, so weird of us to do. Especially since you were just saying not too long ago how you wanted to wait on us."
He mentally kicked himself for ever thinking that was a good idea.
"Right. I think it was probably just a in the moment thing." he nodded, to avoid embarrassment. They both cleared their throat on sync. "But, yeah, we're totally cool. Should probably avoid playing doctor for a while."
"Yeah." Alaska laughed, glad they got that out of the way. "So, did you hear about what Squeaky Lees is doing?"
Eli gave a questionable look back to her.
"Everyone that pays for a car wash gets to park in the back for a drive in movie. It was my moms idea, something retro, since that's starting to be cool again." Alaska gave a nod, grinning his way. "I was gonna invite Demetri and Wyatt, do you wanna come, too?"
"Is your dad gonna be there?" he looked a bit alarmed.
"No. Beth's ex has been messaging her, getting new numbers when she blocks him, so he's gonna go have a talk with him." she gave a minor, innocent shrug. "AKA kick his ass and threaten to kill him if he doesn't leave her alone."
"Cool." Hawk nodded, flashing her a grin. "I'd love to go."
"Okay, amazing." Alaska gave a childish grin, getting to her feet as she saw Daniel wrapping the white and blue headband around Miguel head. "I'll go tell my mom to reserve a spot in the front."
Hawk watched her go, waiting until she was out of the dojo to stand. He didn't think Wyatt was a bad guy, he actually enjoyed his company. But whatever was going on with him and Alaska was gonna end now. Whatever chance he had at winning her back wouldn't be possible with another guy around. Wyatt looked up as the red haired boy towered over him. "Hey, Hawk."
"If you're planning on making an move on Alaska, don't." he gave a harsh glare down at the boy. Wyatt stood up, standing a bit taller but height was nothing compared to the nasty glare he was receiving. "I know she's super hot, whatever. But, she's not into you, so, just, back the hell off."
Wyatt rose his eyebrows a moment before he started to laugh, hunched over as he held his stomach. Eli frowned his eyebrows in confusion, blinking. "Wh-Hey! What's funny, asshole?"
"I'm sorry." Wyatt apologized through laughter, standing up straight again as he whipped his eyes. "I just figured that it was pretty obvious by now."
"What's obvious?" the shorter boy puffed out his chest.
"That i'm gay." Wyatt rose his eyebrows, watching Eli's face fall. "Alaskas great, and she's been the coolest friend i've ever had. And you're right, she is super hot, but i'm just not attracted to girls."
Eli blinked guilty like. "Oh, woah, sorry. I- that went right over my head."
"Has it not been obvious how much i've been flirting with your little nerd friend?" Wyatt chuckled, speaking of Demetri. He pulled a knowing look. "Oh, that's right, you probably don't realize the difference between platonic friendship and hard core flirting."
"Demetri? Oh, that explains why Alaska keeps involving you in everything we do." Eli nodded with a look of realization. "Wait, does this mean the drive in is gonna be, like, a double date?"
"Don't forget he's dating the chick that makes everyone hate themselves." Wyatt reminded him with a minor roll of his eyes. "Don't get too excited, things are definitely platonic on his end."
Eli gave a friendly smile his way. "They're not gonna last. I mean, don't tell him I said that, but they're just not going to."
"That's what Alaska says." Wyatt agreed. "She really seems to hate her."
"Yasmine did a lot of stuff to Alaska before she got that front wedgie and was knocked down to officially uncool." Hawk nodded his head, thinking back to all the times the blonde targeted Alaska. "I know it really hurts her that Demetris with Yasmine now, but she's not gonna say it out loud."
"What kind of stuff did Yasmine do?" Wyatt asked, the pair grabbing their bags as they heard the Eagle Fangs showing up again. "She never told me that."
"Well, obviously, this was before Al kicked her ass on the first day of school." the red haired boy pointed out as the two headed out of the dojo. "But, every single we were little, Yasmine has been pretty mean. Like, she cut her hair in second grade, pushed her off the swings in third, made fun of her for her shoes in forth, Alaska use to have braces and it caused her to talk funny, Yasmine had all of fifth grader making fun of you then. In sixth grade, she yelled out a bunch of hurtful things from the crowd when Laska tried to audition for the school play. Seventh grade, called her pepperoni face because of her acne. Called her a slut and made up rumors in eighth because me and Demetri were her only friends. Wrote loser across her locker freshman year. Then, sophomore year, Yasmine created a fake text message to make it seem like Alaska was into Kyler and wanted to go to another one of her parties."
"Jesus." Wyatt looked over in disbelief, shaking his head. "I heard about what happened at that party with Kyler."
"Yeah, well, whatever you heard was wrong." Hawk snapped at him quickly, not meaning to. "She didn't wanna go down on him, she said it plenty of times. He pressured her to, over and over, made her feel shitty for not wanting to, which is why she ended up doing it. No one bothers to listen to her side of the story though."
Wyatt grabbed his arm, making Hawk stop. "He pressured her to give him head? Even after she made it clear she didn't want to?"
Eli nodded. Wyatt gapped. "Are you kidding me? You realize that's sexual assault, right? Did she tell anyone?"
"Of course she did." Eli looked in disbelief. "No one believed her. I don't know what all she's told you, but when you're a no one, like the three of us were, no one cares when someone like Kyler, who is extremely well known, does stuff like that."
And no matter how much Wyatt hated to admit it, he knew that what Hawk had said was right.
"You're mom definitely picked this movie on purpose." Demetri said from the back seat, looking past Alaskas seat to watch the movie, the radio playing the words. "Look at all this ass kicking."
"Do you talk through out every movie?" Wyatt looked over in disbelief.
"Yes." Eli and Alaska said on sync from the front.
"Well, at least I don't cry through out every movie." the tall boy mocked from the back, having Hawk look back in disbelief. "Don't look at me like that. You know it's true. And then you-"
He leaned forward and wacked Alaska in the back of the head. "-Don't pay attention because you're too busy comforting him."
"I'm not just gonna let him cry." Alaska gave him a crazy look. "I'm not from the Death Star."
"What movies do you cry in, Tough Guy?" Wyatt snorted slightly, pushing Eli's head slightly.
"I cried in one movie." he defended himself.
"Oh, sweet boy." Alaska laughed slightly as she looked in his direction, shaking her head. "You're so cute when you lie."
"I hate you both." he turned back in his seat, adjusting the air vents to blow on him a little more.
"Hey, no judgement back here." Wyatt rose his hands in surrender. "I cried like a baby in Twilight."
It was Alaskas turn to look in disbelief. "What'd you cry about? The bad writing?"
"Are you really slandering Twilight?" Wyatt gapped in disbelief. "You're probably Team Jacob."
"Okay, no. We have always been Team Edward." Alaska gave a point to herself, Meat, and Eli. "But, we were more into The Hunger Games."
"Yeah, it came out when we were in second grade." Demetri nodded, taking a slurp of his coke. "And we tried to play it in Alaskas back yard. So, naturally, Alaska and I team up and started to chase Eli-"
"Poor thing fell right in the pool." Alaska cut him off, laugher falling from her and the dark haired boys lips.
"Why have the two of you targeted me tonight?" Eli looked at the laughing pair. "I could call both you out on something a lot worse."
"Please do." Wyatt begged from the back.
"Demetri ran into his fish tank once running through his room because he's scared of the dark." Eli looked back at Wyatt with a knowing look, pushing Alaskas head. "And this one cried during The Visit because she got so scared, and still has to sleep with a stuffed animal because of it."
"The Visit? Are you kidding me?" Wyatt looked at her in disbelief.
"It scared the hell outta me!" she rose her hands in surrender. "To be fair, I was living with my grandparents at the time."
"All three of you are so embarrassed. Why did I merge myself into this friendship?" Wyatt asked, running low on his popcorn. "Hawk, it's your turn."
"Why do we keep going through so much popcorn?" Demetri looked in disbelief.
Alaska looked back, sipping on her pineapple juice. "If my mom took my advice, there should be guac and wings at the concession stand."
"Did she just say guac and wings?" Wyatt looked over in Demetri direction.
"I'll go get you some, and a popcorn refill." Eli crawled out of the car, looking back in. "Don't have too much fun without me."
"Why'd your mom decide to do this?" Demetri asked Alaska after Eli shut the door.
"She's donating all the money from the car washes tonight to a woman's shelter." Alaska said back, watching the movie. "Beth was suppose to help her but she was getting super sick."
"When's her due date?" Wyatt spoke up in questioning.
"July 3rd." Alaska said back, taking the final sip of her juice. "She's doing her baby shower pretty soon."
"Why haven't we been invited?" Demetri looked offended.
Alaska looked back in disbelief. "You wanna come to a baby shower?"
"Does Bat Man have a Batmobile?" Demetri asked with a raise of his eyebrows. "Of course!"
"So, we have a baby shower, a vows renewal, an All Valley, and a one year sobriety party in the next three months." Wyatt confirmed with a nod of his head. "Also, my birthday."
"Did you ever decide what you wanna do for that?" Alaska nodded in his direction.
"When's your birthday?" Demetri looked over in questioning.
"April 2nd." Wyatt answered with a minor shrug. "I think a big party would be pretty cool but my parents would never agree."
"So, I'll tell my parents to take them out to dinner and we throw the party at my house." Alaska shrugged in his direction. "It'll be so cool. That's in, what? Four weeks?"
"And a half." Wyatt nodded. "Are you sure your parents are okay with that? I mean, your house seems valuable."
"What do you think secret shelves are for?" she rolled her eyes slightly. "It'll be fun. Your parents won't even find out. You only turn seventeen once."
"Oh! Also junior prom." Demetri added in. "Eli's excited for that one."
"We have a junior prom?" the Lee girl asked with a questionable look. "I thought it was just a senior thing?"
"Nope, we get one too." he nodded with a laugh her way. "Eli's been talking about it sense January, where have you been?"
Alaska realized he hadn't mentioned a single thing to her about it.
"Do you guys know that kid?" Wyatt's question had the two look over. Leaning closer to see, they saw Eli standing infront of a smaller kid with a Cobra Kai shirt on.
