"Hell yeah! You kick his ass Mr.Z!" Demetri shouted as he watched Zane lay his fist into Drew, who was tied up in the living rooms. Alaska had been forced to tell Gina about her drug use and who got her into it in the first place. She left out the part of the stitches and just used the excuse she accidentally pulled her belly bottom ring out on her own. Once Zane found out, he had his dealers kidnap Drew and bring him into the living room.
"Demetri, darling." Alaska sighed as she waved him away from the fighting, encouraging he join her and Gina in the kitchen, "Come in here."
"I'm debating if I should get in on that action." Gina spoke as she eyed her smoking hot husband beating the shit out of the tied up man. Alaska was under her arm, holding her close. The pair had became more connected once Alaska got everything off her chest, finally feeling like she wasn't lying to her parents.
"Ouuu, maybe whip out the swords." Demetri suggested with a hopeful grin. Gina stared at him in disbelief as he shrugged, "What? Your kids got a big mouth."
"Big enough mouth to bite your head off." Alaska threatened as she threw her grape to hit Demetri in the forehead, "I think that you should most definitely go over there and get at least one hit in. I promise it helps."
"I think you're right." Gina nodded as she set her smoothie down and headed into the living room.
Demetri wrapped his good arm around Alaska, "So, what type of crazy expectations are they wanting you to commit?"
"Well, i've got to go to therapy twice a week and now have two AA meeting groups so..." Alaska trailed off as she leaned into Demetri, "I feel like shit, you should have seen the look on their face. My dads had the whole house sweeped and moved all his stuff to the car wash now, my mom cried the whole night."
"Well, they love you, I get it." Demetri spoke, rubbing her shoulder harshly and taking a strawberry from her fruit bowl, "I still don't get why you didn't tell them that loser brother of yours is the one that attacked you."
"My mom really loves him, Meat. I don't want to ruin this for her, and if I did that means Trey would tell them Robby was there too and then he's homeless." Alaska spoke as she threw her arms up in disbelief with a huff, "Trey will screw up soon without me, believe me."
"Speaking of Mr.Keene," Demetri began as he took a seat, "He's getting out today, isn't he?"
"Yup, and the lawyers are paid off with very high youtube reviews from yours truly." Alaska grinned, she looked beautiful when she smiled, heartwarming, "Mr.LaRusso and Sensei Lawrence are heading to pick him up now. They wouldn't let me come, I guess it's a bro bonding road trip."
"Remember when we went on a road trip when you first got your license?" Demetri asked as the pair laughed loudly over Drew's yelps in pain from the living room, "You crashed your car within not even a day of having it."
"All three of us got sprayed by that skunk and had to sit in tomato baths." Alaska went on, forgetting about the memory until now, "And thats how we found out Eli was very much allergic to tomatoes."
"He has that rash that looked like Darth Vader." Demetri laughed as Alaska did the same, their minds slowly coming back to reality at once as they slowed down their laughter to a frown, "If you want to talk to him-"
"I don't." Alaska said quickly as she sat up fast to change the subject, "I made this guac last night, you have to try it."
Before she had the chance to pull her fridge open, her phone was ringing from the island. Alaska frowned down at the unknown number, hitting answer and bringing it to her here, "Hello?"
Demetri watched as her face fell slightly before hanging up, "Whats the matter?"
Alaska grabbed her keys quickly as she stared up at her friend, "I think it's time we go on another road trip."
Alaskas car slowed down next to the pay phone she was told over the phone. She put her car in park on the dead road, hurrying out of the car to circle it.
"Thanks for coming." Robby said as she wrapped him in a tight hug. He hugged her back, almost waiting for the security guard to pull them away from each other, but they hadn't, she was his first hug in three months, "I'm sorry you had to come."
"It's not a big deal, I wanted to come pick you up anyways." Alaska said as they pulled back, "I'm sorry your dad and Daniel thought it would be a good idea to come get you."
Robby shook his head as he pulled his jacket around him better, "Is someone in the car with you?"
"Demetri. Come on, you look like you can eat." Alaska grinned as she put a arm around the Keene boy and drug him toward the car.
"Trey?" Robby asked loudly suddenly as he chocked on his food slightly. Demetri insisted they hit up a burger joint he had heard of right outside of the Valley, "Are you serious?"
"As serious as a overdose." Alaska nodded as she dipped one of her fries into Demetrius milkshake, "He just shows up at the house and acts like he's so hard, makes me wanna jump over the staircase and yank his eyeballs out."
"If you happen to, it would be the only time I don't call the police." Demetri said with a point of his finger, leaning down to put his straw in his mouth.
"I don't know if my parents told him about you staying with us for a bit. They keep trying to get us to bond but I tell them off every time." Alaska spoke with a nod of her head, leaning on one knee that she brought up, "I mean, what do they expect? Us to laugh and play in the sand together? Get matching diapers? Take turns going down the slide?"
"I'd hope not." Demetri said while taking her fries.
"How much can happen in your life in three months?" Robby asked with a crazy look her way, "I feel like I missed a whole season."
"You did, i've lost track." Alaska said honestly.
"Her six months is in two days too." Demetri said knowingly as Alaska huffed, "She's not excited."
"What? That's huge." Robby spoke in shock her way, glad they could just sit and talk for as long as they wanted.
"I don't know why it's such a big deal." Alaska shook her head as she twisted her badger ring, popping the rubber band around her elbow, "Plus, my sponsor... it's hard now."
"What happened to Beth?" Robby asked, remembering Alaska tell him about her the night she came to the dojo.
"She just let me down when I needed her. I know it was late and she was busy, but it just hurt me. She said she'd always be there if I called and she wasn't, i'm trying not to be immature about it but if I didn't have people looking out for me, bad stuff would have happened."Alaska said as she picked at her fries now, Demetri holding her hand slightly, "But if you wanna come to the six months meeting, apparently we're suppose to invite everyone close to us."
"See this bad boy?" Demetri asked as he rose his broke arm, transitioning into a sling just a few days ago, "I'm sneaking Cedric in this thing."
Robby laughed as Demetri and Alaska joined in at his words. Alaska felt okay for the first time in the past few weeks, like her mind hadn't been racing of Hawk and everything he's done. For once she just felt normal, happy, and loved.
Zane snuck his head into Robbys room, looking for Alaska. He watched his daughter hum slightly to a sleeping boy, a stack of children's books by her side. Alaska knew Robby had fallen asleep two songs ago but couldn't bring herself to leave him, feeling guilty and scared to leave him alone. Zane cleared his throat from the door slightly, making her look over.
Alaska was easy to get off the bed, pulling the blanket around the Keene boy a bit more. Her hand turned on the baby monitor on the night stand, holding the other in her hand as she took the books and flipped the lamp off. Zane waited until she was out of the room to shut the door, "How's he doing?"
"Tired, he kept jumping awake though." Alaska spoke as she turned the baby monitor up, "Incase he gets nightmares."
"And your books from first grade?" Zane asked with a raise of his eyebrow at the stack in Alaska hand, "Think he needs to be breast feed too?"
"Dad!" Alaska's scolded him quickly as Zane went red when he realized what he'd said, "I'm just trying to help him."
"I know." Zane said as he patted Alaska on the head slightly, "He's lucky he's got you."
"No kidding, he's got no one right now." Alaska said honestly as she looked at the time on her phone, "I've got practice pretty early, did mom say if she was coming?"
"She mentioned something about it. Do you want me to keep this? It's not your responsibility." Zane said as he nodded to the baby monitor. Alaska went to hand it to him before pulling it back to her chest.
"It's better this way, just to make sure." Alaska spoke honestly as Zane nodded, kissing her on the forehead as a goodnight and heading down the hall to his bedroom. Alaska did the same, setting up the monitor on her bedside table and getting comfortable in her bed. She tossed and turned for a good while, the same thing she did every night since what happened. Alaska tried to get out of the habit of habit of spooning one of her pillow and holding the stuffed Hawk. It had been the only thing that got her to sleep.
Sadly, old habits die hard.
