THE COP slowly lowered his gun, raising an eyebrow as all the cops followed behind. "The what...?"

Freddie clenched his jaw, placing his arms above his head.
"The Avengers, recruited by Nick Fury," his stern voice echoed hollowly as sirens out-broke.

The cop's eyes widened, running back as the several people began to shriek; running back.
Elijah raised an eyebrow, "why are they r-"

'BOOM!'

The building collapsed immediately after being struck by an object, sending the Avengers to be sprawled through the rubble and mess of fires.

The moon throbbed as it witnessed such horror, flames dimming up the area as fog rose into the air; making the air thick.

Sydney coughed hoarsely, lifting herself up as she grunted; the rocks pierced through her skin as she felt something drip down her lips.

"Sydney!" A voice struck her out of trance, turning around as she held herself up against the tilted wall for support. 'Apollo.'

Apollo immediately held her up by her waist, placing his finger on her lips as blood dripped from her nose; her eyes weary.
"Everything will be fine, just stay put." He dragged her towards the exit, placing her against the wall as she coughed; her chest heavily pounding.

"Stay," he muttered as he placed a hand on her shoulder- gulping anxiously, "I'll be back."

The gravel crunched underneath his shoes as he sprinted, shouting for help as his voice broke in such unspeakable fear.

Luka held his ax, coughing aggressively as he made his way through the flamed destruction, his mind racing with such power; 'where's Lily?'

"L...Lily!" He hollered, his voice croaking as he heard a small voice groan.

Jogging towards the mess of outraging fire, "help!" A voice shrieked, as fire began to outspread in the area she was in.

Luka jumped past the fire, his eyes widening at Reese who had blood drooling from their lips as the rest of it gushed from other victims.

"Reese?" He whispered as Reese sobbed softly, Luka felt his eyes trail to them- turning their back against the floor as they lifted themselves up, the iron taste brought a sour taste to their busted tongue.

Luka held them up, coughing as Reese sobbed- "we gotta' go!"

Thea shook James awake who couldn't see, her hands shaking as James gasped for air; cradling himself into her arms.

"James, lets go!" She snapped, dragging him onto his feet as he held tightly to her as she guided them through the disastrous atmosphere of ashes and guts.

Lilianna groaned as she held the sides of her stomach, whimpering under her breath.

'Click.'

She let out a small gasp at the sound of a gun click, her eyes sinking at the sight of the man hold it sternly towards her.
"FLOOR, NOW!" He snapped as he grabbed a fist full of her hair, brutally holding down her stomach against the concrete that scraped her body raw.

Lilianna shrieked, struggling under his grip as he held his knee against her back; digging into her back as she blubbered. Muttering as she sucked in sharp breathes, kicking her feet.

Elijah sprinted across the flaming room, Hilary following along with a gun in her hand. "HURRY!" His voice croaked in such hurry, stumbling through bricks.

Hilary hissed at the touch of such warmth on her arm, sweat pouring down their figures as they breathed heavily.

The two suddenly stopped in their tracks at the sound of someone's footsteps, turning around...Elijah immediately stood in front of Hilary who pointed the gun firmly.

"Put the damn gun down." The man cloaked in black snapped, his finger firm on the trigger as Hilary gulped.
"PUT IT D-"

'BANG!'

Blood splattered onto them, the man dropped to his knees; his eyes wide as gun gushed from the wide hole in his forehead. Falling dead as Elijah turned back to Hilary, breathless.
"Damn..."

"GUYS!" A thick voice hollered, turning around as Apollo pointed back behind him, his eyes shaking with a shaky sigh.
"APOLLO!"

"WE NEED TO LEAVE NOW, SYD-SYDNEY NEEDS HELP." He stumbled back, catching himself on a brick as the two followed behind him; desperate for an exit.

Luka landed planted on his shoes, holding Reese's shoulders up as they groaned. "Alright," Luka shook them awake- nodding behind him.
"The exit's over there, you have to run."

Reese nodded firmly, closing their eyes shut as blood poured down their busted lips. "I have to look for the others," Luka walked past Reese; turning around once more, "GO! RUN!"

Reese let a soft sob escape their lips, tripping through the rocks as they dragged themselves away.

Luka kicked back the ashes, huffing as he felt ashy mucus build down into his throat, holding himself together.

Thea limped her way with James, hissing as she softy sobbed- James felt his hand suddenly dampen at the touch of her, puzzled.
"Thea...?"

Thea suddenly dropped onto the floor, blood flowing from her stomach as she gagged; blood pouring from her lips, gasping for breath.

"Thea?" James whispered, shaking her awake as she felt her breath slowly become out of reach. "THEA?"

Thea felt a tear slip down her puffy cheeks, her hands shaking as she took one last gasp, her heart faint as James held onto her; shaking her.
"THEA?"

'Why isn't she reacting?'

James shook her harshly, her eyes widely blank as James felt his hands shake violently. "THEA?"

Lilianna held her breath, her hair nagged on as she felt her eyes wander to the bar besides her.
"AH!" She swung the bar over his head, falling him unconscious as blood flew from the crack in his head.

Lilianna felt her eyes widen in such disbelief, letting out a shriek as she covered her mouth. 'I killed him.'
Kicking her feet as she shuffled back, her heart aching as damp tears smeared through her cheek.

"LILY!"

Sinking herself in her own guilt as she felt a pair of arms lift her up, Luka kneeled to meet her eyes as her head hung loose. "What happened...? Lily?" He whispered, his eyes trailing to the dead body; immediately turning back to Lilianna, gripping her wrists from her face.

"You're not a bad person, please, we have to go." He furrowed his eyebrows as she nodded, the two began to hastily move their way out the hellish building- making sure she didn't run off.

Guiding her through the mess of such violence and death, trails of blood on every aisle.

ONE WEEK LATER

James sat numbly on the freshly cut grass, the wind blowing against him as he sniffled. His eyes sore with unspeakable pain, his bones croaking within each movement.

The feeling of her blood all over his hands still was a familiar touch, a touch he doesn't ever want to feel again.
The hole in his heart only grew bigger by the moments, remembering the horrid screaming of his mother once she received the news; the gut wrenching wails of his siblings who wished one more play time with Thea.

Sweat trickled down Athena's abdomen, sit ups being an easy task for her. Music booming out her headphones as she sucked in sharp breaths through her nose, throwing a firm punch every time she lifted herself up.

Apollo banged his fist against the punching bag which flew, sweat trickling down his forehead as his fist bounced from the punching bag.

Letting out grunts, 'make dad proud.'

The Avengers sat silently, nibbling on their dinner which James refused to touch.
The golden chicken boiling hot as the orange freshly squeezed juice tasted nothing but fresh.

Freddie placed his cup down, holding his hands together over the table; letting out a deep sigh.
"We all should know, that we will be going through more missions." Everyone turned towards him, their sulking eyes deep.

"And we might be loosing people."

James scoffed simply, leaving the table abruptly as he slammed his cane against the floor; Freddie eyed him, clenching his jaw.
"But we have to risk it. We have to get used to the killing, the blood, and the sacrifices."

Sydney gulped a tight knot in her throat, Apollo gave her a soft look of reassurance.
"It's what an Avenger does, and we are Avengers now."

Reese nodded firmly besides Taylor who chewed on her chicken, Hilary sunk into the seat.

Elijah bit his lip anxiously, bouncing his leg as Athena crossed hers in an awkward manner. Luka clicked his tongue, glancing briefly to Lilianna who made a smiley face out of her spaghetti.

Freddie lifted his wine glass, "for Thea and every Avenger who passed away."

The following raised their glasses, sorrow full filled the room as the thick atmosphere became lighter. The dimly lit building has never been as quiet as it was now.
Glasses clanking against each other.

"For Thea."
