Jaxon carried out his duties?
(Chay doesn't exist in this au, sorry)
β’
Jaxon walked down the golden hall, each guard lowering their heads as he passed. his brown ankle-length trench coat was flowing behind him like the cape of a king..-eh, prince. he wore a black dress shirt and a black vest over it, together with black pants. a style he very much got after his father. his aura was all it took for the guards to tremble in their shoes as his reputation preceded him. he was known to be just as cruel as his father, if not more. the heels of his black dress shoes clicked on the marble floor and his predecessors looked at him from the family paintings with respect and adoration.
before he entered the room he was invited to, he stopped by the last painting - a family portrait of himself, his father and his mother. he squinted his blue eyes and clicked his tongue upon seeing the person he got most of his resemblance from. but they were gone, and Jaxon couldn't ask for anything better than that.
"not fit for this my ass, mother," he hissed before he turned around and pushed the wide black and golden door open. a draught made him almost stumble and once he saw his father standing on his open balcony with a flute of champagne in hand, he smirked and walked towards him. knowing the boundaries though, he stood just two steps behind him.
"father," he greeted him with a slight bow of his head and a tiny smirk on his lips.
"my son," the older man said, his white hair flowing in the cold night wind. he wore a black suit which contemplated his strong stature, which once again Jaxon didn't inherit quite as much as he'd want to. "i have a very special task for you to carry out."
blue eyes widened and Jaxon finally lifted his head. the day finally came. up till now, he only carried out public executions where he made sure to show HE is the son of the King, and that they should be grateful for what they got. there wasn't a single execution day from which he didn't return with blood over his face and clothes as sometimes he carried them out himself for much longer than they were supposed to. aside from that, he regularly visited the factories to make sure everything was done properly and accompanied his father on business trips here and there. so what changed?
"what is it, father?" he asked with his voice trembling from anticipation.
"i am sure you are aware of the Rebellion as we have executed a couple of its members." the King began and Jaxon did recall that rainy day on which they ended the lives of six members, among who was the supposed leader of the Rebellion. he remembered the robotic eye of the girl which burnt a hole in his head until a bullet went through her brain. "your task is to infiltrate them."
"how do i do that?" the Prince asked
"my agents have noticed a certain girl frequenting a pub in the Cherry Valley. you get in through her." he stopped to take a sip of his champagne. "then, you bring me any and all kind of information as well as sabotaging them from the inside."
Jaxon nodded and was already making a plan in his head, but it still wasn't adding up to him. he's seen his father conquer the world, they practically captured the leader and killed her in front of thousands of people. so...
"why such an action though? are they really to be feared?" Jaxon asked and scanned his father with his blue gaze again. even though he was trying, studying, and taking notes on everything his father did, he still didn't see into him completely.
"i don't know," was all that came out of the King's mouth in a hoarse voice. "but it's better to be prepared."

and so infiltrate the Rebellion he did. it wasn't that hard to intimidate the girl, Dawn, as she was a pretty open book to Jaxon. if she was the ancestor of the girl they executed, then the Rebellion was about to be doomed even without the help of Jaxon. after weeks of gaining their trust and making it to the inner circle, they were finally foolish enough to share the plan with him.
"Asp will be the one to lead the offensive in the city with Rascal while i, Milo and Jaxon break into the mansion and preferably kill both the King and the Prince." the blonde girl with horns explained and spread out a whole map of the city on the table. Jaxon was good with maps and knew from the first glance that this one was not up to date. they were going to 'get lost' in his home for sure.
"Asp, your task is to cause any and all kind of ruckus in the city. I'm not telling you you should kill people, but if it comes to it, fire. the guards probably won't hesitate to kill ours. it will get bloody."
"so we're basically just a huge distraction," the blonde boy summed up and she nodded.
"we three will break into the mansion and find both of the royalties according to this map," she started to explain but Jaxon wasn't even listening at this point. the plan was so pathetic! those two were basically sentenced to death in the city. Jaxon saw their ancient weaponry and basically, his guards' knives were better than the guns these guys had. and the other part of the mission? to sneak into the mansion of which they don't even have an up-to-date plan? yeah, this was going to be way too easy.
"understood?" was the last word from Dawn which snapped him back into the moment and he nodded with a smile.
β’
"shit," Dawn hissed as Jaxon forced her behind a wall where they hid. Milo was clumsy and he knocked over a vase while trying to sneak into Jaxon's supposed bedroom. the guards noticed him and dragged him to the underground cells.
this was brilliant! Jaxon informed his father about the plan before and he assured him that he will make sure the plan went smoothly. meaning if any guards saw him, they were told to let him go as Jaxon said that he has a plan. so far, it was going according to it.
"okay, we can't risk all of us getting stuck there, so i will go rescue Milo while you try and find the King and his son," he turned to Dawn and even though her eyes were shaking from seeing her best friend being dragged away from her, she swallowed it and agreed to do it. once Jaxon lost her from his sight, he just stepped out from his hiding place and walked towards the stairs to the underground like the royalty he was.
"Miche, good to see you," he greeted one of the guards with his cheeky smile and they just bowed to him in fear. "would you be so kind," he gestured towards the black stone door which the guard quickly unlocked for him and Jaxon then stepped into a damp hall with nothing but stone stairs and torches to lead the way. once he descended the stairs and his feet met the never-leaving surface of water which was there, he made his way towards the only currently locked cell.
"Milo!" he exclaimed with a practised worried tone as he took out the lock picks from his pocket. a skill the Rebellion taught him actually. of course he had the key though.
"Jaxon, it's so good to see you!" the half reptile smiled and waited for Jaxon to open the cell. the gun itched him on his back but he knew that even though he was underground, a certain girl with the abilities of a cat might hear it. that was too risky. so instead, once the door was open, Jaxon wasted no time kicking Milo in his stomach, toppling him over. he then grabbed both of his arms and forced them behind the guy's back, drilling his knee into his back and forcing him to lay on the ground, face stuck under the small surface of water.
he was struggling and kicking, but Jaxon basically sat down on him and he was sure he broke one of his arms at this point. he knew Milo would probably last longer but he didn't expect it to be this long. thankfully, he got weaker as time went on and it became easier for Jaxon to hold his body as he drowned. after solid seven minutes, the reptile's body twitched for the last time and then became completely still.
"finally," Jaxon breathed out and stood up, making a disgusted sound once he saw his trench coat soaked in the dirty water. he needs a new one anyway, maybe white? he also made sure to kick the body to the side so if any uninvited guests came, there was a lesser chance of them seeing Milo. he then decided to rid himself of the already ruined trench coat and covered the body with it.
the jog up the stairs was quick and he knocked on the door just once, which was the sign of him and his father. the guard opened the guard with trembling hands and gulped upon seeing the smile on Jaxon's face.
"there's some trash down there that needs to be taken out Miche," Jaxon smirked and patted the terrified guard's shoulder as he walked away, rolling up the sleeves of his black dress shirt. now he needed to find the girl, which shouldn't be that hard. this was his home, after all, he spent enough years proving it to every single person in this house and he was not going to let some pathetic girl take it away from him just because she thought she can. guess what? she was not the main character of this story.
"Jean, would you be so kind and tell me if you saw a blonde girl aimlessly walking through here?" he asked another guard and this one, much more confident than the previous one, pointed Jaxon to the hall which led to the office of his father. 'ah perfect' was all Jaxon thought as he waltzed through the halls, his shoes announcing him anywhere he went. he almost laughed once he saw the girl crouching behind an old cabinet embroidered with gold. what was she trying to do? Jaxon just sneaked up behind her and lifted up his arm to have his elbow pointed right at the crown of her head.
"i found you," was all he said before he brought his arm down and knocked out the girl with the impact of his elbow. she wasn't that heavy so he carried her to his father's office and tied her to his chair there. he advised his father to leave the city anyway, so he had the house all to himself now.
he opened a bottle of expensive red wine and placed one glass in front of Dawn on the table, even though she couldn't reach it and spent the rest of the time polishing his gun or going through his father's upcoming contracts. until finally, the girl's head started to lift and Jaxon stood behind her, facing the balcony.
"good evening to you too, and cheers," Jaxon said as he took a sip from his glass. "to me finally making the cut," he knew this was it, the final act of gaining his father's approval. maybe he would retire and leave the empire for Jaxon. he should anyway, that old man. maybe Jaxon should take care of that too, once this is over.
Jaxon then stepped into Dawn's sight and her cat eyes widened. she tried to move but was tied to the chair too tightly and Jaxon just shook his head at yet another pathetic act from her.
"Jaxon what are you doing? we need to go find the King and the Prince! and where is Milo?" questions were fired which entertained Jaxon more and more. he took out his gun and slid it across Dawn's jaw until it settled under her chin. she kept her eye contact with Jaxon, heavy breaths raising her chest. he had the sickest expression on his face, a smile with his eyes wide from adrenaline and amusement.
"oh but don't you get it?" he whispered and unlocked the safety. "the Prince is standing right in front of you,"
he pulled the trigger, the walls of the room and face painted in blood as the final explosion went off in the city. then there was complete silence.
