[6] projected scares

The Losers all gathered in the Denbrough's garage, Bill hanging up a map of Derry's sewer system, while the rest of the group blocked out the light in the garage. Once they accomplished creating a makeshift screening room, Bill placed a map of Old Derry into the projector.

"Look. T-that's where G-g-georgie disappeared, there's the Ironworks, and the Black Spot," Bill noted, pointing at each place on the map.

"Everywhere It happens, it's-it's all connected by the sewers. And they all meet up at the-" He continued before Ben cut him off.

"The wellhouse," Ben noticed.

The Losers all looked and realized Bill and Ben were right, everything truly was connected.

"It's in the house on Neibolt Street," Stan commented, making everyone nervous. Arizona grabbed Mike's hand, looking for comfort.

"You mean that creepy ass house where all the junkies and hobos like to sleep?" Richie asked, and Eddie took a puff of his inhaler, obviously in the early stages of an asthma attack.

"I hate that place, it always feels like it's watching me," Beverly said.

"Yeah, every time I walk near it, I feel unnerved," Arizona shuddered.

"That's where I saw it. That's where I saw the clown," Eddie muttered, causing everyone to glance at each other anxiously.

"T-t-that's where It lives," Bill gathered, and once again Eddie took a puff of his inhaler.

"I can't imagine anything ever wanting to live there," Stan said.

"It's a fucking child eating clown, I think that's a perfect place for It," Arizona snapped, and instantly apologized. Her temper gets shorter the more nervous she gets.

All of a sudden Eddie stood up in the front of the room.

"Can we stop talking about this? I-I-I can barely breathe. This is summer. We're just kids. I can barely breathe, I'm about to have a fucking asthma attack, and I'm not doing this!" Eddie panics before ripping the map off of the wall. Arizona's breathing becomes as frantic as Eddie's, and Mike has to hold her before it will return to normal. She wished she were anywhere else but in the garage, trying to locate the thing that haunted her dreams every night.

"What the hell? Put the map back," Bill insisted while Eddie shook his head no. Arizona empathized with Eddie, seeing as she didn't want to continue this search for It's home much longer.

All of a sudden, the projector began to move on its own, earning the undivided attention of the Losers. They watched as Denbrough's family photos began to flash against the wall, and suddenly none of them felt safe anymore.

"Bill, what the fuck is happening?" Arizona breathed, asking the question everyone else in the room was mentally asking.

"I-I don't k-know, i-i-it just s-started m-m-moving," the boy replied, not easing anyone's anxiety over this situation. Mike squeezed Arizona's hand lightly before moving towards the projector, trying to see if there was a logical explanation. Sadly, there wasn't.

The group watched as pictures continued to flash against the wall, one by one. Until it stopped on an image of the family outside a church, in which Bill's mother had her hair blown over her face. The projector continuously clicked and zoomed onto Georgie's smiling face. The Losers all moved towards each other, trying to be an anchor for one another. It didn't work once the projector moved onto Sharon Denbrough's face, the clicking getting faster and faster until it seemed like they were watching a video. It wasn't long before the clown's face appeared on the photo.

"What the fuck is that?" Eddie cried, following the group as they moved near the back wall.

More panicked cries rose from the group, including Beverly begging for someone to "Turn it off!"

Mike kicked the projector over in an attempt to stop the chaos. And for a moment, everything is silent, until the clown appears back on the screen.

The group collectively sighed as the room went dark, thinking everything was alright. Until the clown appeared in the garage, larger than life. It's eyes locked onto to Stan, causing the boy to cower and run towards the group. Beverly stood alone in the corner, fearing for her life as the clown headed her way. Arizona made a mad dash towards Beverly, trying to pull her away, before the clown pushed Arizona against the wall, preventing her from reaching the terrified girl cowering in the corner.

"Arizona! Bev!" Mike called, terrified for what would happen to them. The chaos continued until light flooded the room once Ben opened the garage door. The Losers all stood there for a moment, watching as Beverly and Arizona shakily made their way to the others. Beverly thanked Ben before hugging Bill. Arizona thanked Ben as well, and then immediately ran to Mike and engulfed him in a hug, which he gladly accepted.

"Are you okay Arizona?" Mike asked, noticing her widened eyes. Arizona only nodded.

"It saw us. I-it saw us, and it knows where we are," Eddie panicked once more.

"It always did. S-s-so let's go," Bill replied, nonchalantly.

"Go? Go where?" Ben wondered, but everyone knew the answer to the question.

"Neibolt. That's where G-g-georgie is," Bill responded.

"Bill are you insane?" Arizona voiced, hoping it would push the idea out of his head.

"After that?" Stan cried.

"Yeah, its summer. We should be outside," Richie mumbled, causing Bill to get upset.

"If you say it's summer one more f-f-fucking time!" Bill fumed before getting on his bike and taking off.

"Bill! Wait!" Beverly called after him, to no avail.

The group looked at each other and made a mutual decision to follow after him, so off they went, chasing the boy who was set on finding his little brother.

When they arrived at the house, Arizona felt chills run through her body. The house unnerved her so badly, and she felt like she was staring into the eyes of an actual being. That's when she noticed Bill nervously standing at the front door.

"Bill! Bill, you can't go in there. This is crazy!" Beverly urged, trying to stop the determined boy from stepping inside the house.

"She's right, Bill you cannot do this!" Arizona pleaded.

"Look you don't have to come in with me," Bill assured, and the group approached the stairs hesitantly.

"But what happens when another Georgie goes missing? Or another Betty? Or another Ed Corcoran? Or one of us! Are you just going to pretend it didn't happen like everyone else in this town? Because I can't. I go home and all I see is that Georgie isn't there. His clothes, his toys, his stupid stuffed animals, but he isn't. So walking into this house, for me, is easier than walking into my own," Bill finishes, heartbreak filling the space. No one had time to say anything before Bill turned to finish what he started. Arizona knew the feeling of not wanting to be in your own home, and she felt for the boy. His loss drove his actions, and she knew none of them would be able to prevent Bill from walking inside the house.

"Wow," Richie breathes, breaking the silence that settled over the group.

"What?" Eddie asked.

"He didn't stutter once," Richie noted before walking up the staircase, Ben following behind him.

"Richie what are you doing?" Arizona questioned.

"Obviously, I'm going to accompany Billiam on his quest into the hellhouse Arizona," Richie deadpanned. Arizona only nodded, wishing she didn't ask the question in the first place.

"Wait! Um, shouldn't we have some people keep watch? Y'know, just in case something bad happens?" Stan nervously asked.

"I'm with Stan," Arizona agreed, causing Stan to smile at her, thankful for her agreement.

Bill just looked at his friends before asking, "W-who wants to stay out here?"

Everyone raised their hands, except Beverly.

"Fuck," Richie muttered, knowing that the ratio was unfair.

"Let's draw sticks?" Arizona offered, hoping to create a fair way to decide who would go in. The Losers agreed.

Five minutes later, the group watched as Bill, Eddie, and Richie stepped into Neibolt.
