(Ginny)

The first Quidditch match of the season was against Slytherin. And it was today. Ginny didn't get scared or nervous too easily, but she could barely touch a thing at breakfast. Luna talked her into taking a few bites of cereal and toast though.

"Thanks, Luna. I know I'll need it for strength, its just this is my first time playing in a match as captain!" "Of course, Gin, you know I care about you. Plus, I want to brag about my best friend being a champion!" Luna joked. They both laughed, and Ginny felt a little better now.

Luna had the knack of always calming Ginny down. What would she do without her? She hoped she never found out.

"What would I do without you, Luns?" They both grinned. "I reckon you would starve." More laughter. Less anxiety.

On the way down to the pitch, Ginny's anxiety spiked again, as the match drew closer. Suddenly Luna stopped dead in her tracks, her eyes trained on two people ahead of her. The Slytherin Beaters, who she had found out the names of (Mike Newowski, and Peter Smith, Zacharias Smith's older brother), were walking about 10 yards ahead of them. They looked like they hadn't a care in in world.

"What is it?" Ginny asked her. The paralyzed blonde snapped out of her daze and said, "it's them." it's who?" "The people who attacked me..."
"Oh, Luna." Ginny grabbed her hand and had a set look in her eyes, anger and ferocity replacing her anxiety.

"They'll be sorry they ever placed a hand on you when this match is over" said Ginny fiercely. "Don't worry," She added, seeing the apprehensive look on Luna's face, "I'll just make sure you have two less bullies, I won't do anything too bad" she said slyly, making Luna grin in spite of herself.

I am going to win this match. I have to, Ginny thought, while eyeing the two Beaters, who were now picking on a poor first year and his friend.

"ITS 20 GRYFFINDOR TO 10 SLYTHERIN" the new commentator, Colin Creevey, shouted through his megaphone. "AND THE CROWD GOES WILD AS GINNY WEASLEY FROM GRYFFINDOR SCORES HER SECOND GOAL IN A ROW! GOOOO LIONS!" "Colin! What did I tell you about taking sides?!" Everybody hears McGonagall say, sounding exasperated. "Right, sorry, Professor! Won't happen again, professor!"

The crowd laughed, so did Ginny, as she soared through the air, on the tail of one of the the Slytherin chasers, Pansy Parkinson, who was in possession of the quaffle.

Demelza Robins came in unexpectedly from the side, and was about to grab the Quaffle from pansy, when the bigger Slytherin beater, Mike, spotted her and sent a Bludger at her, which hit her arm, throwing her off the chase. Pansy shot the Quaffle at the goal, and Ron didn't block it in time, and...

"SLYTHERIN SCORES..." Colin shouted, "Blimey, bummer- I- I mean, very nice shot by Slytherin chaser, Pansy Pratinson!" "COLIN!!!!" "Sorry, Professor, but I had to do it," he said, dangling the megaphone out of Professor McGonagall's reach, as the crowd erupted in laughter, and Pansy turned bright red and "humphed" in anger.

20 minutes later, with no one having scored any more goals, Ginny saw Harry zooming alongside Malfoy, and rhem bumping into one another. A moment later, the crowd also realized that the seekers had seen the snitch, and were on the chase!

"It appears... THAT POTTER AND MALFOY HAVE SPOTTED THE SNITCH!" Colin announces excitedly. "LET'S HOPE POTTER- I mean- SOMEONE, CATCHES IT SOON! Griffindor and Slytherin are tied right now, so whoever catches the snitch will have 170 points, and win the game!"

Ginny saw that the crowd was on the edge of their seats.

She spottted Luna and they met eyes, grinning, hoping. Then, Ginny turned her eyes back to the game just in time to see Harry outfly Malfoy and wrap his hand around the snitch, raising it up and flying up, higher higher, to show everybody the victory.

We won! I won my first game as captain!

The whole Gryffindor team flew to the center of the pitch, and congratulated eachother in mid-air, talking and laughing, patting Ginny and Harry on the back. "I knew we could do it!" "Great job as captain, Ginny!" "Sheeeesh!!"

Ginny saw the Slytherin team gathered at one far end of the pitch. She spotted the two Beaters that were Luna's bullies. Without thinking, she zoomed straight at them and knocked them flying in different directions, clubs hurtling toward the ground and...

"Ginny Weasley! What in the world was that!?" "Sorry professor! Didn't mean to, honestly! Lost control of my broom..."

But I did mean to, Ginny thought wryly.

She found Luna in the stands, locked eyes with her, and grinned. The blonde grinned back, looking glad that Ginny had taken care of atleast a small part of her problem.

As the team flew to the ground, Ginny's thoughts drifted to Luna... how her lips looked as soft as a baby's skin, and how her hair got in that beautiful tangled length when she messed with it too much... Ginny entered the locker rooms joyfully with her team, shouting congratulations as people slowly departed. She did this until eventually she was the only one left. Sighing, she changed out of her quidditch robes, and back into her day clothes.

Just as she was preparing to leave, about five minutes later, she heard a shuffling in the doorway. Then, a blonde head emerged and hugged her tightly. "Ginny- I- you were wonderful! And thanks for, er, having a rogue broom. " Luna smirked. Her hair was touching Ginny while they embraced, and she realized how much she loved the feeling of Luna so close to her like this. Luna pulled away.

"You know, since we came out to eachother," Ginny smiled slightly, "we should tell each other who we like. I can't believe we've been best friends for six years, and all you've ever told me about that is that you thought Peppa Pig's cousin was mildly attractive."

Luna laughed. "Okay then. But where's this coming from?"

"Well," said Ginny slowly, placing her words carefully, "because I have a crush myself. I've been crushing on her for a while now, I just didn't realize it until recently."

Oh God.

"Well, what is she like?" asked Luna breathlessly. Ginny sighed and said wistfully, "she's very beautiful, and kind, she has the most beautiful blue eyes, perfect flowing hair, and-" Ginny hesitated, "and she's a standing in a dully lit locker room, right in front of me."

"Ginny, I-" said Luna after a moment, looking surprised and longingly at Ginny, realizing what she had just said.

"Shh..." Ginny said, and she stepped forward and placed her lips on Luna's, kissing her hard, passionately, feeling her soft, plump lips mix with Ginny's slightly chapped ones, creating a perfect blend.

When they broke apart, which could have been seconds, or days, or forever, as Ginny would've liked, they both just sat there for a moment. Then they smiled and kissed again, finding more rhythm. When finally they broke apart for the second time, Luna said, "I- Ginny- that was- wow."

"Luna, I need you, and I'll always need you. I don't know if you feel the same way about me- if not, I'm sorry- but I've been wanting to do that since- Luna, I- I love you."

"Ginny. I do. I love you too. I realized I was in love with you in the hospital that night. I wasn't sure if you felt the same way." Luna grinned and said, "I need you too." And with that, the two girls set off, back up to the castle.

They were holding hands, as more than just best friends now.
