Celine in her room, listening to music with the headphones maxed out, lost in her own world. Around her, there are traces of her teenage life - makeup on her desk in a flurry of colors, a collection of books on a shelf, and a few framed pictures hanging on the walls. As she listens, the world outside seems to disappear, and for a moment, everything is calm and normal.

Still jamming to music, Celine grabs her favorite snack from her bedside table - a bag of salted pretzels - and starts to enjoy them one at a time. She can't quite hear what's being said through her headphones, but she can feel the vibration from the base.

Celine loses herself in the music as she lets the beats wash over her. She taps her foot to the rhythm of Paramore's "Decode," completely absorbed in the sound.

Despite hearing some strange mumbling as she danced around her room, Celine chose to ignore it and continued to immerse herself in the music. She felt carefree and young, lost in the rhythm and melodies that filled her earphones.

As the music continued to play, Celine noticed a strange smell wafting through the air. As she sniffed intently, trying to pinpoint the source, her gaze landed on a faint stream of smoke lazily drifting into the room. Startled, she quickly discarded her headphones onto her bed and hurried towards where the smoke was coming from.

As she rushed to the kitchen, she could barely see through the thick cloud of smoke that was now filling the house. The sound of her mother's voice calling out to her cut through the chaos, and Celine knew she had to act fast.

"Mom! What happened!" I panicked

"Celine get outside!"

Fear gripping her heart, Celine turns and runs towards the front door. The smoke and heat grow more intense with each step she takes closer to the exit.

"Mom come on!"

"Hold on baby I need to get your father's picture."

"Mom!"

The heat from the flames felt intensely hot, and the smoke was quickly beginning to fill the air as the home became consumed by the raging fire. Celine's screams pierced through the chaos, desperately calling out for someone to come help. Neighbors started to gather, their faces filled with shock and fear as they watched the house turn into a raging inferno. Celine's mother could be heard yelling out from inside the house...

"Someone call 911 dammit!" I yelled out loud

"Mom!" Celine continues to scream

"Celin-

As she watched in horror, the walls began to crumble, and the last few moments before the building collapsed, she caught a glimpse of her mother one last time. In a matter of minutes, the once-standing home was reduced to nothing but a pile of smoldering rubble.

"Mom!" Celine cries out

But it was too late. The house was a raging inferno now, and no one could have survived inside.

"No, no."

Celine, still in shock, witnessed the final moments of the fire, hearing the distant crackles of embers and the distant chatter of the EMTs and firefighters.
As she stood there, the weight of the situation was beginning to settle in. She looked at the smoking ruins of the house, the place she once called home, and the realization that her mother was truly gone hit her like a tidal wave. The pain was overwhelming as she struggled to process the loss.

Celine's life with her mother had been filled with both happiness and struggle. Growing up, just the two of them, they had faced challenges like so many other families. When Celine was just a young child, her father met an untimely end in a hit-and-run accident. From that day forward, it was just her and her mother. Their bond grew stronger as they relied on each other for support and love. Despite the loss of her father, Celine's mother provided a beautiful childhood filled with laughter, love, and strength.

But now that's all gone...

"Hey! Back away from the house." The police officer yelled from a distance.

Overwhelmed by the traumatic events unfolding in front of her, Celine's body gives in to the mental and emotional turmoil. She falls to the ground, her limp body collapsing in a state of unconsciousness.

After passing out from the shock of everything that happened, Celine regained consciousness in a strange environment. She was now in a hospital bed, surrounded by doctors and nurses. Confusion overwhelmed her as she tried to make sense of her surroundings. As the fog of confusion cleared, Celine realized that she had been taken to a child protective services facility. The weight of the situation hit her hard as she realized that she was no longer in a place that felt like home.

"Hello, Celine. My name is Detective Derek. We're here to ask you a few questions about what happened today. Can you tell us where you were when the fire started?"

"I-uh." Celine stuttered

"It's all my fault." She mumbled to herself as she cried

"Speak up dear, I can't quite hear you." Detective Derek said

"In- my room."

"In your room doing what Celine?"

"Listening- to music on my headphones."

"Where was your mother?" he continue to write down in his journal.

"In.. the kitchen." I cried again

"Where was your father?"

Celine breaks down again and starts crying, her emotions overwhelming her. The detective watches her from across the table, patiently waiting for her to calm down enough to speak again.

"Okay this is clearly hard for you, I'm sorry." He said

"I'll give you a moment." He said standing up from his seat.

"Celine Kinsley, you have a visitor."

As the second detective entered the room, Celine immediately recognized the other woman who accompanied her - it was a close family friend, someone who had been there for her and her mother throughout the years.

Regan Hale.

Regan was a friend of Celine's mother, who had been there to support her for four years. Celine had known her since she was a young child and had always seen her as a second mother.

As soon as she saw Regan, Celine rushed towards her and wrapped her arms tightly around her. Tears streamed down her face as she buried her head in Regan's shoulder. Regan held her close, offering comfort and support.

"I'm here Celine." Regan cries softly

"My mother- she's fucking gone, she's dead- she's not coming back she's forever gone ! Just Because I wanted to listen to some fucking dumb music." Celine got everything off her chest as she cried.

"Aww no, Celine don't do that, it's not your fault sweetie." she comforted

Celine cries closely against Regan's chest.

"Will you be her legal guardian?"

"Yes."

"Here, I need you to sign a couple of papers." the lady said

As Regan signed the documents, Celine stood quietly to the side, wiping away her tears with the tissues she had been provided. Despite the pain of losing her mother and the uncertainty of her future, she felt a sense of comfort knowing that she had Regan by her side.

"Okay, all done." Regan returns the papers back.

"Now Let's go home, Celine." Regan softly smiles as she hangs her arm around Celine's shoulder walking out the door.
