Chapter 16
SEOHYUN WAS IN HIS DORM UNSURE WHETHER WHAT HAD HAPPENED WITH JAMES was out of pure lust or if he was longing to be with him for romance. Of course he had admired James Potter before, hardly anyone at Hogwarts hadn't before. He remembered last year when he started noticing James a bit more then usual, noticing the way his hair was messy yet soaking wet, noticing the water droplets dripping off of his skin after his twenty minute showers after practice.
Seohyun Ryu had never thought about ever liking someone romantically, he hadn't really thought it could ever be important in such manner. Quidditch had always been his main focus, the way he played was always on his mind. He was always strategising and critiquing techniques and new formations, he never really cared to notice anyone or anything else. He knew he was quite lucky to be one of the naturally gifted students, despite him being a muggleborn.
The second he had been appointed captain in fourth year any care he ever had about school or any other interest had been thrown out the window. It was an honour, to be the Quidditch captain, to create a legacy and make people remember his name as a muggleborn. Not a lot of muggleborns were appointed captain, a lot of them usually focused on their studies because of the surreal opportunity to have a life in a magical world.
He just couldn't place his finger on why his focus that had always been primarily for his sport suddenly shifted towards James Potter. James, a boy, a stupid Gryffindor boy who was honestly quite a prick to people, a weird happy go lucky type of guy who was always at the center of attention, caught his eye. Seohyun couldn't possibly be in love with James, that was ridiculous. It was a casual hook up, definitely.
Seohyun never really focused on having relationships, he never did actually.
He was sat on the floor like a child, his sweaters marked the floor around his bed because everything seemed to remind him of James and it was eating him alive. He couldn't tell you why the bright yellow colour reminded him of James his radiant smile, Merlin even chocolate reminded him of James! He just couldn't escape him.
Deciding figuring stuff out instead of sitting cramped into his way tok hot room all week long was better he got off his arse and marching the stairs down. Each step he took made a subtle creak of thud to alert people coming his way that he was going down. His heart was aching, every time he looked at James it was like a cure for this ridiculous disease that was causing his heart to long for one.
A heavy heart on his stomach he knocked on the door, though no response came.
Confused Seohyun then threw the door open. He hadn't been sure what he had expected, but it wasn't this. It was Jaehyun. Jaehyun was quietly sleeping, his head comfortably laying on Remus his chest. The Lupin boy his nose was like many times before buried deep inside a book, his hands let the book drop by just a bit to see who had walked inside. Expecting Sirius and James he didn't really care for the fact that the boy was on him, but it was Seohyun. His brother.
"Oh- It's not what it looks like!" Remus argued immediately, Seohyun stared. The eldest didn't know what to say, or to respond if he was honest to himself.
"You're dating my brother?"
"Merlin no!" Remus immediately responded, his cheeks turning endearingly crimson. Seohyun raised his brows, not believing it at all. There was a way about how Remus would stare at Jaehyun and it made sure nobody could deny that they did in fact look like two characters in a romance novel. Seohyun was able to tell because that's the look his parents would give each other, the look that told every looking eye that everything they could see of each other was viewed upon by pure love.
Remus was admiring Jaehyun, but not in the way a mother looked at their children, in a way that said he had loved Jaehyun before and had found him again in a different life time.
"I- we're not dating- I don't like him like that!" Remus tried to find an explanation to give to Seohyun but no decent excuse was able to muster up the courage and leave his lips. The eldest Ryu brother wanted to let out a chuckle but in all honesty the fact that his younger was able to find love in such a peaceful way was endearing.
"Relax, I'm not telling anyone you fancy him." He stated leaning against the doorframe, for a few minutes James had decided to leave his mind, just so he could focus on another queer problem of the century. Remus felt his cheeks flush even harder but he wasn't sure if that was even possible.
"I don't fancy Jaehyun!" He quickly exclaimed, Jaehyun stirred a bit which immediately caused Remus to stay quiet, frozen. Seohyun fought the urge to laugh and rolled his eyes. In all honestly Seohyun wasn't quite expecting his brother to roll the same way he did. Adoption it was or else no Ryu would exist in the coming years.
Remus felt weirdly embarrassed at the fact that Seohyun seemed to find the situation amusing. "No- nonono! He- he just fell asleep whilst we were talking. This was not planned." He explained, the heat on his face was increasing by the second and he swore to Merlin that he felt a sweat droplet slide down the back of his neck.
He found it quite hard to not burst out in a fit of laughter. "Are you sure that it's just that? If we're just casual friends I usually shove them off or something." He argued back, feeling a smirk approach his lips which only seemed to entice Remus more that he had exposed himself.
Remus knew he was queer, shagged a guy or three in his Hogwarts lifetime. Remus knew what attraction felt like, he knew that this was different and it quite honestly felt terrifying. He had been lustful with guys, he wasn't a virgin when it came to having a love life, but with Jaehyun it was different. He felt at peace with him, like it didn't matter how long he spent time with Jaehyun as long as he just was around.
Remus liked the idea of Jaehyun, he liked everything about Jaehyun. He never understood why people disliked him, in his eyes he was probably the most beautiful he had ever been blessed to lay his eyes on. In his opinion, people who hated or even disliked Jaehyun were just rude and lying to themselves. Remus loved every part of Jaehyun, there was absolutely nothing that wasn't admirable about Jaehyun.
He didn't understand what pit he had fallen into, he thought so highly he was sure it had beat the respect and love he had for his own mother. Remus wanted to thank his mother for bringing him into this cruel world purely because it had Jaehyun in it. But he was scared. Because deep inside his flesh still stayed a monster, a blood thirsty monster. He knew Jaehyun would never look at him the same, not after all the news of werewolves. He was still a disgusting murderer, and nothing would ever be able to change that.
"He looked comfortable.. I don't- I don't mind it." He mumbled out completely embarrassed and feeling ashamed of himself. Remus looked down upon Jaehyun, his eyes trailing his pure and clean skin, not a pimple to be found somehow. In his opinion Jaehyun looked absolutely angelic, his features were so delicate it hurt.
Seohyun nodded letting out a soft laugh, "Okay, if that's what you want to make yourself believe." He stated with a soft smile. He then remembered why he had knocked on their door in the first place, suddenly looking a lot more alarmed.
"Do you know where James is? Just specifically James." He asked desperately, his look immediately turning into desperation. Remus narrowed his eyes, he tried to think of where he had remembered Sirius had said they would probably go but he wasn't sure if he had ever said anything at all. His mouth fell open just a bit as he tried his hardest to recall anything before it suddenly popped inside his brain.
"Oh! They- They went towards the umh.. The Great Hall." He answered stammering on his words just a tiny bit. Remus found himself embarrassed quickly whenever he was put on the spot causing him to sputter out words like an idiot. The eldest Ryu nodded in appreciation and closing the door.
Not a second passed and the door swung back open, "Hey, I know he can't get pregnant, or you, but I would still like it if you used protection." He said smiling or rather smirking at the way Remus somehow turned crimson red all over again and shut the door leaving Jaehyun and Remus all alone once again, drowning in the comfort of silence.
"We're not having sex!" He exclaimed back, but it was no avail as Seohyun had already left the dormitory. No further avail of the common room he decided to follow Remus his words and headed towards the Great Hall. Sure enough, somewhere be midst the crowd of students studying for their upcoming tests and finishing their essays, students deciding to take breaks from studying etc.
Half way through the table you could see three out of four Marauders doing, well, whatever they were doing on a usual day. They were hunched up, head forwards to the table discussing stupid matters or prank ideas like usual. Seohyun approached them quietly, making his way over to James.
"No I'm telling you! Having no hands is better than no legs!" Sirius argued quite bitterly, seeming on the verge of fuming as the other two seemed to disagree. Sirius was also quite annoyed at the fact that Remus had left them for Jaehyun, he was sure Remus would have taken his side on the topic, or none at all which was surely a half win.
"Sirius we are wizards we can- I'm pretty sure we could just fly our way out of this." James argued narrowing his eyes as he tried to remember what had even started such a stupid conversation in the first place. Sirius and Remus were usually the ones bickering, it was as if they were two brothers who had spent too much time together to handle anymore shit of another. Now that Jaehyun had preoccupied Remus his time Sirius came to them with his rather odd questions and meanings of life which they could only ponder on for hours before wondering if they were honestly still sane.
"Couldn't we just grow our legs back?" Peter responded honestly feeling fed up with the stupid questions he had not been cursed with for an extremely long time.
"Excuse me." Seohyun awkwardly announced. The three of them went oddly quiet in less than a second considering the fact that their entire existence was connected with being awfully loud. James had recognised the voice in less than seconds, he turned around locking eyes with the boy he had fallen in love with.
"Could we talk?" And with that James was not sure if he should feel overjoyed or like he was crying. Nonetheless he felt his entire world crumble whilst his heart had sunken to his stomach.
