epilogue ⋟ that's my wife
A few weeks later, Elizabeth, Tom Hiddleston, Chadwick, and Eveline were all running around the venue, trying to figure out how the entire event would play out. But because Lilah had requested it be outside, the entire thing would be held in the courtyard of the venue. Which was completely fine, because it was quite sultry inside.
Benjamin, his boyfriend Connor, Freya, Anabel, and Zendaya were all with Lilah, helping her get ready.
It was really nice, how well they all got along. Like their own little friend group.
"Um, Lilah?" Benjamin asked from his chair by the window. They all sat inside a small room, fans blowing so air flowed in. "I think Tom might be stressing out a little," he pointed out the window.
Lilah peered outside the glass pane and out into the courtyard. Clad in a gorgeous black and white suit, Tom paced over the concrete ground, which was flooded with all different colored rose petals. Eveline might have over done it with the decorating.
"Maybe he's just nervous," Daya said from beside her, "because you look fucking amazing."
Lilah smirked and voiced her thanks, but one glare from Anabel and she backed away a little. Quite over protective, that one.
But yes, Lilah's ensemble did make her look wholly beautiful. Thin white straps held up the dress, but the color slowly faded to a light gray as it moved along the swathes and folds of the tool skirt. A little detail Anabel herself had suggested—add little stars further down the skirt, where the gray started to come in. To match her eyes.
"He hasn't even seen her in the dress yet," Connor reasoned. "I think he's getting cold feet."
"Well he's already married to me, so he can't run away now," Lilah sighed dramatically. "Although we have been joking about divorcing each other since the day we met so . . . I should probably make sure he isn't signing any papers."
Benjamin peeked out the window again. "No he's just messing up his hair gel. Not a total loss though, I always did like his hair in curls." Both Connor and Lilah scowled at him for that.
Elizabeth came running into the room, slightly out of breath. "Your surprise is awaiting outside the door."
"Surprise?"
"Do you even remember the last few weeks?" she asked. "When I told you I had a surprise, and I went on and on about it—no? Okay, well, he's here now," she said, opening the door again. "By the way, you look amazing."
Lilah was about to say thank you, but then he walked in. A lot taller than she remembered, but still there. John Mulaney, in the flesh.
"Oh, hi Lilah. I'm here to marry you and Spiderman. First time for me, second time for you," he chuckled and looked her up and down. "You look like an angel."

Tom was nervous for many many reasons.
One, because Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson were just a few feet away from him, grabbing drinks from the bar while Louis fixed the ruffles of Harry's dress.
Two, because everyone he'd ever loved was here, either inside the venue getting themselves ready, or just now sitting down in the chairs that Hiddleston had set up in the courtyard. There was a lot of people here. Which might've been why the first time around, he'd only wanted to marry Lilah with no one there to stare at them.
Three, because through the window, he caught a glimpse of Lilah a few seconds ago, and she looked so happy. To be marrying him. Again. She'd likely marry him six thousand times if it could be done. But so would he.
So this reason wasn't really a reason to be nervous, but more like a reason to be grateful as hell.
Because Lilah . . . she was his entire world. She owned his heart, down to the core, and there was nothing he could do or say to ever make her go away. She wouldn't leave, because they were stuck with each other. So, he was grateful.
Sitting down on the edge of flower bed, Tom watched as Chadwick practiced walking Lilah down the aisle with Eveline. She gave him a few tips on how to walk; slowly, but not too slow so that people are yawning, but not too fast so that people have to ask you to slow down.
Tom snorted softly and looked down at his feet, thinking. He really wanted to go up and ask Louis for an autograph, but now didn't seem like the right time.
A silence fell over the courtyard when Lilah and her band of friends came out of the venue. Tom's eyes met Lilah's and the entire world stopped when she smiled at him. Or—that's what it seemed like. Just because of that damned smile.
She looked like an angel incarnate, what with that dress, and those eyes . . .
While everyone around her was talking, arguing, Lilah silently gestured for him to look down to her feet. Tom let out a laugh. White converse. Of course. He stood up and ran over to her, and, careful of her dress, wrapped his arms around her waist and swiftly picked her up to spin her around.
"Hey hey hey—careful," Connor said, running up to them. "Put her down, the dress is going to get ruined."
"Connor I swear to god if you just ruined their moment, I'm going to punch you in the throat," Freya said from beside him.
Anabel spoke up, "I was told to take pictures for this wedding and, Connor, now you're little scrunched up face is in the background. So scoot your ass to the side, or I'm going to french fry your brain."
Tom could've sworn those were the most words at one time that he'd ever heard come out of Anabel's mouth.
Nonetheless, he stepped back from Lilah, but didn't keep his hands off her. He couldn't. Not when she looked like this, and was looking at him like he was the only thing that mattered in the world. "You look gorgeous. I-I mean how can you even handle being this pretty???" Tom asked her.
She shrugged. "I guess it's just in my nature. You look great too, by the way. Who did your hair?"
"Robert and Chris. They said it was necessary because the first time around I, quote, 'probably looked like a pile of shit'. They weren't very nice about it."
"I can testify against that. You looked very pretty the first time," she winked at him, "and afterwards. That was pretty fun."
He blushed and shuffled his feet a little.
"Alright, everyone is almost ready," Elizabeth said, walking up to them all. "Um, all you really have to do now is get married then have some food."
"Perfect," Lilah said. "Seems pretty simple."
So they did just that. After saying hello to Harry and Louis, and making sure they all had their seats, everyone got into place. The sun was just starting to set, making the courtyard the perfect temperature, perfect lighting for Anabel to take pictures, and everything was just overall flawless. Before going to his place at the beginning of the aisle, Tom overheard Lilah say to Chadwick, "I think we're going to need to walk really fast because these people might have somewhere to be."
To which Chadwick then responded, "They're here for your wedding, Lilah. Seriously?"
Then John Mulaney married them. Which, by the way, was probably the most surreal part about the wedding.
Following that, everyone went inside the venue, with the summer air cooling down a bit. But Tom and Lilah stayed outside by themselves. Someone had started playing music inside, most likely Elizabeth, while they all ate food and danced their hearts out.
Sitting near the edge of a small pond that was in the middle of the courtyard, Tom took Lilah's hand in his own as she rested her head on his shoulder. They sat in a nice silence, listening to the small dribble of the fountain behind them, the occasional rustle of bushes, and the soft music from inside.
The sun was almost all the way down, so the sky was a bright blue, the moon just coming into view above them.
At last, Lilah said quietly, "I think it was nice to have all our friends here this time."
"Me too," Tom said, playing with the tool fabric of her dress, the stars attached.
"Although you were basically shaking beforehand," she pointed out.
"I was not."
"Oh, you most definitely were."
"Okay, I was. But only because Louis is here. I wouldn't have been otherwise," he reasoned.
"Sure sure sure, I get your reasoning." She was quiet for a minute. "But it also might've been because—"
"Do you want to dance?" Tom asked out of the blue.
Lilah smiled, "Is this your way of avoiding the subject?"
"No, I just want to dance with you," he said, standing up. She shook her head and got up as well, taking his hand again to walk towards the center of the courtyard. The music flowed outside, through the doors and into the open air. Stars began to wink into the stars as him and Lilah danced, their foot patterns matching up, hands entangled. He leaned his brow against hers, his eyes fluttering closed.
"I love you," Lilah whispered, her breath just fanning his lips.
And when Tom's eyes blinked open, meeting with those starlight filled ones he'd come to love and adore down to the bottom of his heart, the ones that belonged to the one person who'd ever made him feel something, the ones that belonged to his wife, his person—he fell in love with Lilah all over again.
a/n- sorry this was a little brief 😩 lmao that's what she said
