It was a six hour flight. Six hours of anticipation, being paranoid, and dealing with the anxiety that came with going on a plane for the first time. She had driven to New York from Atlanta, which was somewhat exciting because she actually had something to do, but on the airplane...

She tried listening to music, an audio book, even a podcast about different kinds of plants. That last one wasn't exciting at all. But nothing could distract her from the fear of falling.

The thoughts filled her brain about that morning, when Freya had told her about her boyfriend, that she didn't like women in... that way, and that they couldn't pursue a relationship like that. That it was a drunk mistake.

When Lilah heard Tyler taking Freya to bed just an hour after he had arrived, that was when she decided she couldn't take it, and that she needed to get out of there. For hours she packed her boxes, organized her books into neat stacks in the cardboard boxes, cushioning them with the new clothing that Freya had bought with her three months before.

Then she realized she had nowhere to go.

So she unpacked the boxes, then repacked them again, just to fill the time. No one came to her door, Freya didn't come to apologize, Tyler didn't come to threaten her, leading Lilah to believe Freya hadn't and would never tell him that she had cheated on him. At around midnight, Lilah had had enough, and picked up her phone to call Tom.

He had happily obliged her request to come and stay with him for a week, mostly because he had already been prying her about visiting London with him.

Six hours later, the plane landed smoothy, with no casualties. She wiggled out of her seat and squeezed past people with her backpack in hand, mostly stuffed with hardback books incase she needed to unexpectedly knock someone unconscious.

Tom had said that he would pick her up at the airport and then take her back to his parents house, but Lilah started to doubt when he was nowhere to be seen at the airport. She sat down on a bench and hugged the backpack to her chest, scanning the crowd. When he wasn't there, she texted him, but he didn't answer.

After about ten minutes of un-patient waiting, she stood up from the bench and slung the backpack over her shoulder, standing on her tippy toes as she backed up to see further across the airport.

Her back hit a wall of warm and inviting muscle, and she whirled to see a familiar face grinning at her.

"You look worried," Tom drawled. "Did you miss your long lost favorite person in the world? Who you love sooooo much because he's sooooo funny, and caring and lovely-"

Her lips twitched. "You practice that in the car?"

"Maybe."

"When'd you get so arrogant?"

"Since I grew an inch taller," he rocked back and forth on his heels.

Lilah raised her brows and looked him up and down from head to toe, back to the stupid smile that played on his lips. It was only then that she realized how much she had truly missed him. The teasing and joking around, the smiling- Lilah hadn't smiled at anyone in the past three months they had been apart. Not even Freya.

"Either that or I shrunk an inch," she said. Tom threw her a half smile, then stared at her. She stared back. Tension hung in the air, like neither of them knew what to do next.

Looking into his soft brown eyes, she did the only thing she could think of: drop her backpack and throw her arms around his neck to hold him close. Tom made a sound of surprise, but wrapped his arms around her back and pick her up.

"I miss you a lot," she murmured onto his shoulder.

"Missed you too, Angelo."

Lilah pulled away from the embrace, but Tom slung an arm around her shoulder and started walk out of the airport. She quickly swiped her backpack up from off the floor and walked with him.

He turned his head to press a kiss to her temple just as they approached his car. Lilah's cheeks dusted with pink and suddenly found the strap of her backpack to be very interesting to stare at.

"So how was the flight?" Tom asked, climbing into the drivers seat.

"Um, yeah- it was good," she said, shutting the car door, "I'd never been on an airplane before, it was fun."

Tom started. "You've never been on an airplane before?"

She shook her head. "No. Although one time my parents had the intention of taking us all to California, but the flight took off while I was in the bathroom and they kind of forgot about me. I was stuck at the airport by myself for like four hours until they finally realized I wasn't with them. Kind of like a Home Alone situation. Just call me Kevin McCallister," she chuckled.

But Tom wasn't laughing. He was staring at her with worry. "Lilah, that's awful," he whispered.

"Yeah I know. I still have nightmares about the Pirates That Don't Do Anything movie that my babysitter made me watch," she shivered. "Those Cheeto puffs freak me out man."

His brows furrowed. "Wait, they didn't come back for you?"

"No they said it was too expensive for all three of them to come back for just me... are you okay?" Lilah noticed that his knuckles were turning white as he gripped the steering wheel.

A muscle feathered in his jaw, he kept his gaze on the dashboard. "They should've come back for you," he said softly, finally meeting her eyes.

Lilah opened her mouth to answer, but his eyes widened. "Your hands," he breathed, taking his own off the steering wheel and holding them gently. "They're all bruised, what happened to them?"

"Ah," she sighed, then explained to him what happened two nights before while he started driving. About David, Anabel, what happened with Freya...

"So, you swept the floor with this guy's ass, nice job by the way," Lilah threw him a sidelong grin, "Your sister yelled at you and called you selfish-"

"Yeah."

"Then you stuck your fingers in between Freya's legs and the next morning she tells you she has a boyfriend and it was a drunk mistake?"

Lilah's cheeks reddened as she nodded.

"Geez Lilah," he let out a breath.

"Yeah I need to get my shit together," she laughed.

The reason Tom was a little late, he explained, was because it was an hour long drive to his parent's house from the airport. During the time back to the house, Lilah was laughing at her phone, to which Tom got sad because he was driving and couldn't join the group chat.

Tom tried to focus on the road in front of him, but couldn't help getting distracted by Lilah's laughing. It was light and so full of joy, it just made him want to bundle her up in his arms and never let go. That, and when he heard what her parents had done to her. Especially what Freya did, and Anabel, and Sydney with kicking her out, and her parents too-

Tom noticed that he was getting worked up again, and calmed down, taking deep breaths.

He just didn't want anybody to hurt her again.

He glanced at her. "What are you doing now?"

"Googling who the is Kristen Wiig shirt."

He choked on a laugh, "You're googling what now?"

"Nothing. By the way, I have a book I was wondering if you might want to read, it's really good."

Lilah began to unzip her backpack and shuffle around in there, and Tom sighed. He debated about telling her about his dyslexia, which made it harder for him to read than the average person, since it was a little embarrassing for him. He was about to, because he knew that she wouldn't care, but he saw that it was taking longer than usual for her to find the book.

"What the hell do you have in there?" he asked.

"Umm... duct tape, my retractable lightsabers, hardcover books, sunscreen, my glasses, a hot wheels car, the key to Sydney's apartment, and a tiny whisk," she said, pulling her head out of the backpack and showing him the tiny whisk.

He raised his eyebrows. "Retractable lightsabers, plural?"

"Yeah I have like five of them." She was quiet for a moment. "And apparently no skill of learning how to saving money."

Tom snorted and stopped the car in his parent's driveway. They hadn't been hesitant at all to let Lilah stay with them, mostly because Tom hadn't stopped talking about her for three months straight and wanted to see why he was so obsessed with her. His brothers had been teasing him about her, saying she was his imaginary girlfriend who didn't exist, so they were excited to see if she was actually real or not.

Lilah on the other hand, was incredibly nervous to meet these five new people. For the most part because Tom was close with them and she wanted to make a good impression.

As they got out of the car, he said, "Okay here's the deal. My mum will offer you dozens of tea and cake options to eat, feel free to deny any and all of them. Dad will ask you a lot of questions, Harry and Sam will nod and say hello, probably not bother you at all except for teasing me because I'm bringing a girl home- and Paddy will be skeptical that you're not a ghost, but then I think you two will really get along." He smiled at her while she processed the information.

They arrived at the doorstep and Tom put the key in the front door, then gave her a one over. She was shaking slightly, and her lips were trembling with nervousness, but that was partly to be expected. "You ready?"

"Yeah... although I think I forgot to shower and change my clothes," she said, looking down at her outfit.

"You look great, you smell great," he reassured her.

"Did you just quote Tony Stark?"

"Yes- now let's go!" Tom grasped Lilah's hand and unlocked the door, fully expecting to be attacked by his family. But the house was completely silent. "Hello?" he called out, but no one answered. Tom frowned, leading Lilah into the kitchen.

"I think this is the part where someone murders us," she whispered.

Tom turned around to look at her. "Seriously, is there something wrong with you? Do you need to see a doctor or something?"

Lilah shrugged. "Probably."

All at once, a woman with red hair, a man with glasses, two boys with curly brown hair, and a smaller boy who looked about twelve years old came bustling into the kitchen.

"This is her? The Lilah?" the woman asked, a bright smile on her face. "Sit sit sit, I'll get you some tea, and we can talk about you," she said, gesturing to a stool by the counter.

"Oh no thanks, I don't like tea," Lilah said. Literally everyone in the room turned their heads to gape at her, their mouths hung wide open. She put her hands up in surrender. "Sorry! I just wanted to see what would happen, I—I'll have some green tea, please and thank you."

Everyone was silent until they all busted out laughing. The curly haired boys said at the same time, "I approve."

Both of their voices were a lot deeper than Tom's, which kind of made Lilah want to laugh at him, but she didn't say anything about it.

"Are we sure she's not a hologram?" the small boy asked, holding up a finger.

"Ahh, you must be Paddy," Lilah said. She turned to Tom. "Can I show him my lightsabers?"

Tom waved a hand, eyeing the cakes that were on the counter. "I don't care, do what you want." Both his parents slapped him on the back of the head with a towel. "Ah! Stop it-"

"She's a lady, you need to have some manners!" Nikki said, glaring at him.

"Oh right," Tom cleared his throat and looked Lilah right in the eyes. "Lilah, my darling, you may do whatever you wish, including showing my brother your travel sized lightsaber collection." He took her hand and kissed the top. "But first I require that you get some damn sleep because you look awful."

"Flattering, Thomas."

All three of Tom's brothers yelled at the same time, "You have lightsabers?!"

She peered over his shoulder at them and smirked. "Hell yeah I do, we can reenact The Duel on Mustafar if you guys want-"

"You have tea to drink and sleep to get," Nikki said. "Tom, show her to your room, you're sleeping on the couch."

"Oh no that's okay, I can stay on the couch. Or the floor actually, I don't mind-" Lilah started, but Tom put a hand on her shoulder.

"Lilah, you're not sleeping on the floor. Thanks mum," he smiled at her and led the way to his bedroom.

"It's really nice to meet you guys," Lilah said to all of them. She turned to the boys and said in a deeper voice, "Tomorrow, the battle shall begin."

Tom grabbed her hand and dragged her up to his bedroom, which he warned wasn't very clean because he was behind on laundry. When they arrived and he opened the door, she was almost knocked off her feet by how much it smelled like him.

With the window open, it even further brought in the smell of citrus and mists of water, bringing her back to months before when Tom had held her in his arms, and she breathed in his scent.

"Okay, do you need anything?" His voice brought her back into the world, away from her thoughts.

"Uh, no. I-I'm good, thank you."

"Alright, the bathroom's to your left if you need it, and you can eat whatever you want. I'll be back in... well you look like you need days and days of sleep, but I'll see you in the morning?" Lilah nodded as he walked back to the door. "Oh, and feel free to punch a hole in the wall, I don't mind."

He winked at her and then shut the door.

Lilah was left in his room, with the task to try and have some sleep. She had no confidence that she would actually fall into a doze, and just end up staring at the white ceilings of Tom's bedroom, but as soon as her head hit his soft navy blue pillows that smelled like him, she was out like a light.
