Lilah Angelo was the eldest of her siblings. She had a sister named Anabel, who was one year younger than her, and another sister, Eveline; four years younger.

Anabel was one who was always moving forward in her life. She got an acting job when she was fourteen years old, in the Hunger Games, but never really did any other things like that again. Lilah was insanely proud of her, but sat on the sidelines while her life took off in all directions.

Eveline was the youngest, always loved and praised by their parents. They said they didn't have a favorite child, but both Anabel and Lilah knew it was Eveline.

Anabel moved out at eighteen years old, going off to try and start her career. Just as Eveline turned fifteen, a modeling agent contacted her, because of the photos on her instagram page; which of course Anabel had taken because she was into photography.

Eveline's modeling career took off at only fifteen years old, Anabel was off on her own, and that left Lilah.

Lilah was nineteen years old, and didn't know what the flying fuck she was going to do with her life.

She didn't talk that much, always stuck in her head, which might have been the reason she was neglected by all the other students in all of her schools. She thought they saw her as someone who had the blandest personality in the world.

Because of that, no one really knew her.

She didn't pour out all her feelings out into a diary or journal, because she was afraid someone would find it. And find out who she was on the inside.

However, like any other teenager on the internet, she had a social media platform. Where she - anonymously - posted what was going on in her head. Which, again, like any other teenager, was pretty fucking weird.

So that was her life. If anyone in real life ever made a move to actually talk to her, sure, she would totally have a friend. But because no one ever did, and she sat on the side lines of everyone else's lives, she didn't have any.

Her own parents barely noticed her, the only remotely nice thing they did was give her her own room. She read in an article that it wasn't normal to only be able to sleep while hugging a pillow, and that it was a result of never being hugged as a child.

Not that Lilah slept a lot anyways, she was always up during the middle of the night because she couldn't fall asleep, or wouldn't stay asleep. Something called mild insomnia. Or maybe it was ADHD, she didn't know.

Another thing Lilah enjoyed, was reading. She read constantly, could stay in the same spot, flipping through the pages, hour after hour.

Her teachers were the ones to teach her to read, and the only person she really liked during her time in high school, was her english teacher. During high school, Lilah was taught about five thousand new words, all by Ms. Lopez.

Ms. Lopez called her and herself logophiles; lovers of words.

But when she got out of high school, most of her peers were going to colleges, some even getting married.

Lilah just wanted to do something other than read, write, and watch tv all day. Day after day, it was the same routine.

Her parents didn't even care that she was still living at home, Eveline was at a private high school where they had dorms, Anabel had her own apartment. You would think that since her other sisters were gone, they would pay more attention to Lilah. But they didn't.

One night, Lilah was typing away on her laptop, trying to scrounge the internet for any job applications, so she could have money to get the hell up out of her parents house, when someone knocked on her bedroom door.

Her head whipped towards the noise, nobody had knocked on her door in about a year.

She cleared her throat. "Um, come in?"

The door swung open, and in came her dad.

"H-hey dad. What's up?" She tried to act casual and awkwardly crossed her arms.

"We have a guest for dinner tonight, it's Anabel's agent. Your mom invited her over for some reason, but I would suggest getting dressed in something other than that," he gestured lazily to her outfit that consisted of sweatpants and an over sized t-shirt.

"I think my outfit's alright actually-" she started.

"Oh and mom wants to use your room for her office, so you need to be moved out by next month," he fake smiled and shut the door.

Lilah's jaw dropped to the floor and she refrained from yelling, 'Dad! What the fuck?!?'.

But maybe being kicked out of the house was a good idea. It wasn't ideal, but it might force her to actually do something with her life.

She pushed back in her desk chair and jumped out of her seat, spotting some jeans and a button up shirt on the floor and pulling them on.

She flung the door open and ran out, leaving behind her room with walls covered in movie posters and piles of books almost up to the ceilings.

At the square dining table, her mom and dad sat across from each other, and a woman with dark brown skin, a beautiful spring dress and hoop earrings sat, leaving one more chair for Lilah herself. She didn't notice the woman right away, not until she spoke to her directly.

"What's your name darling?" the woman asked.

Lilah looked up at her and almost choked on the egg rolls they were having for dinner that night. "Holy crap on a corndog," she breathed. "You're Sydney Abraham."

She chuckled, "Yes I am."

"But your Anabel's agent, I thought you were just an author," Lilah said excitedly.

"Formerly," Sydney corrected, holding up a finger. "I am formerly your sister's agent, and yes I did a little writing back in the day."

"I-I literally just re-read your book today, it's so cool that you're here! Wait- why are you here?" she asked.

"Stop bothering Ms. Abraham about her books and eat your food." her mom said, rolling her eyes.

Her face heated up at the fact that she had just been told off in front of her favorite author of all time.

'Well bothering people about their books is the kind of thing that really bUtTeRs mY eGgRoLL, so... damn, maybe I could be a comedian?' she thought.

Sydney snorted and Lilah whispered, "I totally said that out loud didn't I?"

The woman nodded, still laughing quietly. She cleared her throat roughly, "You are looking into jobs in the arts, yes?"

She started to shake her head, "No, I was just-"

She was cut off by her mom interrupting her. "Yeah, Lilah's not much of a people person. The arts probably wouldn't be a good choice for her as a profession."

Lilah was starting to get very irritated.

"Oh, well that's a shame," Sydney eyed the girl. "You're quite the humorous young lady, I might've had a place for you in the business."

Her eyes lit up. Before her mom could reject that offer, Lilah asked curiously, "What kind of business?"

Sydney leaned forward across the dining room table, her fingers crossed together in front of her plate. "Well, I heard, they're making a new Marvel movie-"

Lilah gasped and Sydney chuckled.

"-and I can't tell you exclusively what role you could possibly play, but you look like a person with some talent," she smiled softly. "Anyways, if you're comfortable with it, I can totally set up an audition for you-"

"Um, this is really great and all, and I'm both shocked and grateful that you would even be considering me for whatever- um, role that you're looking for, but I've never really had any acting experience." she said, slightly out of breath from all the talking she was doing.

"Lilah Angelo," Sydney said sternly, leaning forward in her chair. She gave her a look of grace, her eyes bright. "I have faith in you."

It turned out, those were just the words that she needed to hear at that moment. Nobody had ever believed in her, told her to do something, everyone just left her alone. And then Sydney showed up, all this confidence in her voice, wanting her to get up and do something with her life.

"Yeah," she said, nodding her head to try and convince herself to do it. "Yeah, I wanna try and do it."

Sydney smiled, showing off her pearly white teeth, "That's wonderful. That's fantastic! Here here here, let me give you my phone number."

Lilah smiled as well, reaching into the back pocket of her jeans to grab her phone and hand it to the woman across the table.

"Now, I can't guarantee that you will get the part, but-" she stopped.

"What?"

Sydney looked up at her. "Miss, are you aware that you only have seven contacts in your phone, and one of them is Domino's Pizza?"

She sighed and looked down at her plate, "Yeah I don't feel good about it either."

When Sydney left their house that evening, Lilah had a smile on her face. A smile was an unnatural thing to be on her lips, except for when she was laughing at her own jokes. Which sounds incredibly depressing in retrospect, but it was true.

But Lilah was finally excited about something other than fictional things. Well, technically this was a roll in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which literally took up twenty seven percent of her brain space. To clarify, when she was sixteen years old, one day she made a percentage chart of what (she thought) her brain consisted of.

She knew it was a little dramatic, and that it wasn't scientific at all, but it was still fun to make.

But the point was, she was basically in love with the entire Marvel cast, and the fact that she might be able to be in a movie with them? That was insane.

Anyways, it was probably a role for an extra, so she wouldn't see them at all. But a new Marvel movie... still crazy to think that she could be part of it.

Sydney ended up calling Lilah just the week after they met, to set up an audition the next day. She had read Sydney's book on acting when she was twelve years old, so she knew all about the process.

It's a little weird, to get all your information from a book and not an actual acting class or person, but she read it like eight times, and watched her sister go on a lot of auditions.

Although she had never had any acting experience, she had all the information. She knew that the process could take up to months, and that there were going to be at least a hundred kids competing for the same role that she was, so not feel intimidated.

After getting the call from Sydney, Lilah laid wide awake in her bed, staring at the posters that covered her ceiling.

Lilah's room was the only place she felt safe, because it was basically an accurate representation of what went on inside her brain. She expressed herself to others, usually not through words, but through appearance. Her room was always being rearranged during the night, when she couldn't sleep.

Other things that she did in the middle of the night include: practicing her lightsaber skills, cook a full corse meal, watch two seasons of a tv show without moving, and sometimes, go on runs.

But, because she was a female running at night, she had to learn at least some form of self defense.

So, another thing she did all day long, was get flexible, learn to punch and kick, things like that. She didn't really have anything else to do all day long, so why not?

Lilah got really bored just laying down in her bed and staring at the ceiling, so she stood up and walked over to the tiny mirror above her desk. Just for the fun of it, she finger gunned her reflection and put her hands on her hips.

"Alright, you got this bitch. Suck it up and go socialize with some people," she glanced down at her watch, "Only...six more hours...crap. Maybe some sleep? Who am I kidding that's not going to happen anytime soon," she chuckled sadly.

It had always been hard for Lilah to stay sleeping during the night, or even fall asleep in the first place. Although sometimes she just felt a rush of tiredness in random places during the day, like while trying to do the dishes or something like that.

But still, she laid back down and tried to focus on shutting her eyes.

โ‹†ยทหš เผ˜ *๐Ÿ•ธ* เผ˜หšยทโ‹†

The next day, early in the morning, Lilah got dressed and grabbed the keys to the car, and drove three hours to the location where auditions were being held.

Sydney said it was at a very secluded building, so that if she thought she wasn't in the right place, she was most likely in the right place. That type of building.

When she pulled up in the parking lot, she glanced at the building and made a face, "Now that's some sketchy shit."

It was a brick building, hidden behind a few trees, with ivy climbing up the side of the bricks.

The only thing that reassured her that it was the right place, were the around fifty cars surrounding the building, and many people sitting on the front steps, waiting to go in.

She could feel the anxiety building up in her chest, all the confidence that she had had the previous night was wiped away by the sight.

Letting out a ragged breath, she unbuckled her seatbelt and grabbed her script from the passengers seat. The night before, she had memorized the, veryย undetailed and concealed script, cover to cover.

When Sydney had contacted her, telling her the location of the audition, she said she would meet her there. Lilah scanned the parking lot for her, but she was no where to be seen.

She walked up to the stairs where everyone else sat, with slightly trembling fingers. She was nervous to say the least.

"Hey are you alright?" someone asked. Lilah swiveled around on her heels to find a boy sitting on the third step up, a small stack of papers in his hands. She felt the need to study him a little, as she did with every person she met.

For example a week before, when Sydney came to dinner, Lilah noticed that she was left handed, obviously trying to find a person for this role, or she would most likely lose her job, and seemed very confident, despite her situation.

This boy however, came off as absolutely neutral. She noted that he had a British accent, which was quite attractive. Also, taking context from his question, it seemed that he was observing her as well. She cleared her throat, "Yeah yeah yeah, I'm good."

"Okay... it's just that you're basically shaking from head to toe," he chuckled.

Lilah's eyes went wide, "Well um, this is my first audition."

She regretted it immediately after she said it. Now he probably had the impression that she was unprofessional. But it was almost the exact opposite.

He raised his eyebrows, "That's sick! Your first audition is for a Marvel movie?!? Damn, you got lucky."

A smile tugged on the corners of her lips, "Thanks."

"Wait how old are you?" the boy asked. Lilah walked over and sat next to him on the cobblestone steps.

"Nineteen, you?"

"Same."

Lilah snorted, "You look like you're fifteen."

She probably shouldn't have said that, she just hadn't had a conversation with someone her age in... ever. Not to mention that he was applying for the same job as her, they already had quite a bit in common.

But he just sighed. "You sound like my younger brothers."

Lilah's eyes brightened, "You have younger brothers?"

"Three of them actually," he said.

"No way! So do I- well sisters- and there's only two of them," she clarified.

"That's awesome," he put his hand up. Slowly, Lilah copied and they high fived. She had never had one before, it was fun. "They live back in London."

Lilah thought for a moment, "So this role... it's got to be pretty important if you flew all the way here for it."

"Yeah," he chuckled, "I'm pretty excited about it."

She laughed, "I don't even know what movie it is."

"Spiderman," he said plainly, not thinking anything of it.

Her mouth fell open, "Yousaywhatnow?"

"Well I'm not really sure if they're making movies, but at least a cameo yeah," his eyebrows knitted together, "Wait- did you not know that?"

She shook her head, wide eyed.

"Oh shit! I wasn't supposed to-" he started.

"Nonono I think it's fine, y-you're good," she said reassuringly.

"Oh okay. Good," he sighed,ย  "I'm not that good at keeping secrets."

She nodded, "I can tell."

"Hey! There's gotta be something that you can't do," he said.

She scrunched her face up, "Um, act?"

"Well then why are you applying for an acting job?"

"Because it's a fricking Marvel movie and I'm in love with Elizabeth Olsen- and also, I kinda need the money." She said that last part quieter.

He stayed quiet for a little while, debating whether or not he should ask more about her situation. He decided against it, feeling that it would intrude on her business. Instead, he asked, "Do you want to run lines together?"

Lilah perked up, "Sure- although my script is basically all redacted."

"Brilliant, alright, you take my script," he handed the small stack of papers to her. "There's another role that, I don't actually know if you're reading for them-"

"Neither do I," she laughed.

"Right," he continued, lowering his voice, "I think that Marvel might be bringing in Spiderwoman."

"No. fucking. way."

"That's exactly what I said!" he exclaimed. "But anyways, her name is Eliza Porter-"

"Waitwaitwait, hold on. Are you auditioning for Peter Parker?" she asked. He nodded. "That's awesome, okay continue."

"So Eliza goes through, like, a lot of shit," he said, "andddd she's Spiderwoman. That's about all there is about her in here."

"Well, I've been through some shit too, so this shouldn't be too hard. hA that's what she said- alright let's do this," she said, scanning the not redacted script. "The first scene is where she comes into Peter's room, and they kind of bicker a little. Tony- tONY STARK????? Holy shi- okay he talks to Eliza, asking her about...webbing. So could you do his parts?"

"Yeah sure," he shrugged, taking the script back from her. He cleared his throat, "Nice webbing by the way."

Lilah was about to start the scene, but instead started laughing at his impression of Tony Stark.

"Shut uP, I was trying to do his voice," he said, a little embarassed. But he couldn't stay angry for long, listening to her laugh.

"Okayokayokay, let's do this." She took in a deep breath and got into character.

"Nice webbing by the way," he repeated.

She smiled, "Thanks Mr. Stark."

"What's it made out of?"

Lilah took another deep breath, remembering the giant paragraph that was in the script. "Well, it's basically like the strongest piece of nylon ever. The exact formula is in my room downstairs, I haven't memorized it. But on contact with air, the substance creates like a polymer string that knits together to form a really tough and flexible fiber with remarkable adhesive properties, so that's why I made web shooters, that shoot the webs to stick to buildings and stuff so that we can swing around the city. Also, if Peter wasn't cutting the webbing off of your hand right now, after about 2 hours, certain parts of the web fluid would cause the solid form to dissolve into a sort of powder, and we're working on making itย biodegradable."

He stared at her with his mouth hanging open. "H-how did you?"Lilah raised her eyebrows in question. "Di-did you just memorize that entire paragraph in like five seconds?" he asked, still gaping at her.

She nodded slowly, "I-I guess I'm a fast reader? I dunno, but did you know that an actors brain activity is completely different when they're playing their character? I found that out the other day, it's pretty cool."

He shook his head, glancing away from her face and down at his feet.

"What?" she smiled.

His eyes met hers once again, "You truly are amazing."

A light blush coated her cheeks. "T-thank you. I-I've never really been complimented before."

"I don't believe you."

"It's true."

"Well you'd better get used to it," he smirked.

She clicked her tongue. She didn't even know this guys name and he was already making a nice impression on her.

"Lilah sweetie! There you are."

Lilah looked up from her conversation with him to see Sydney jogging towards her, taking her light blue scarf off in the process.

"Sydney, hey!" she said. "Did you know that this was an audition for Spiderman?? That's insane!"

Sydney's eyes widened and she glared at the boy next to her.

"Holland! Already giving away spoilers?"

"N-no mam."

Lilah looked back to him, "What's your name again?"

"Tom," he grinned.

"You guys gotten nice and cozy with each other?" Sydney raised an eyebrow and Lilah flushed in the slightest.

"She's crazy talented by the way," Tom said, trying to change the subject of conversation.

"Is she now?" Sydney asked, glancing at Lilah, "Guess I picked the right person huh? Anyways Holland, Angelo, let's go."

She started to walk away and up the stairs, waving a hand over her shoulder to get Lilah and Tom to follow her. They glanced at each other and followed her into the building. A few other people who were sitting on the steps glared at Lilah and Tom, jealous of their early auditions.

In the first floor of the building, there was an elevator to go to the second level, where auditions were being held. So the three of them went into the elevator, Tom pressing the button. He and Lilah stood next to each other, Sydney behind them.

"So..." Tom said, filling the awkward elevator silence that everyone has experienced, "Does Angelo have a first name?"

"Smooth, I must admit," she chuckled. "It's Lilah."

Tom raised his eyebrows, it was one of the most beautiful names he'd ever heard. "I like it."

"Thanks," she smiled. There was another awkward silence. "Did you know that the name Tom means innocent?"

He smirked, thinking of many things that he could have said to that, one being, 'Oh I am far from innocent darling,'ย but decided on: "Interesting..."

"Very," Sydney rolled her eyes at her two clients. It was the most boring and uninteresting conversation she had ever heard. But they seemed to be enjoying it.

Lilah ignored her comment and turned to face Tom in the elevator, "I know right?!? And Lilah means night, which now that I think about it explains some things about my mental health- you know what I should probably stop talking," she laughed nervously.

"No, please keep talking," Tom said.

Her eyes narrowed, "I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not."

"I'm not! It's fun to hear you talk," he said. But Lilah was stillย suspicious, because she could see the little grin on his face.

"Okay I'll shut up then," she said, looking forward at the elevator doors.

Tom bursted out laughing, and she soon joined in. Sydney watched the two, confused. She asked, "How long have you guys know each other?"

Tom stopped his laughing and glanced down at his watch. "Half an hour?" he shrugged.

Sydney raised her eyebrows, if she was anyone else watching the interaction, she would've sworn they had known each other for years.

When they all got off the elevator, Lilah found out that this was his fifth call back for Spiderman, which was pretty awesome. She was positive he would get the part. Her own self confidence though... not so positive.

Her leg bounced up and down repetitively, clearly anxious. Tom, who sat next to her, noticed her biting her bottom lip in anticipation. He leaned over and whispered, "You're gonna do great alright?"

She nodded in thanks, but it didn't stop her from reading the script over and over to make sure she didn't miss anything.

A white door opened and a man stepped out, "Lilah Angelo?"

"I-um, t-that's me," she raised her voice and stood up. Tom and Sydney stood up as well. Sydney would go into the audition with her, just to make sure she did okay. Tom gave her another high five to calm her nerves, which helped. He was really kind to her, she hoped they would get the parts together. Which probably wouldn't happen, but it was still fun to dream.

โ‹†ยทหš เผ˜ *๐Ÿ•ธ* เผ˜หšยทโ‹†

After Lilah's audition, which included her talking insanely fast with just the right amount of stuttering for Eliza's character, she was super excited about it. She thought that she might actually have a chance at landing the role.

The casting directors were blown away, but showed mild facial expressions, just for show. They told Lilah to leave the room so they could discuss along with Sydney.

Once the door shut behind her, Sydney let out a breath. "Okay I didn't know she was that talented."

Aaron, one of the casting directors, asked, "Are you sure this is her first acting job?" She nodded. "Yeah I think we might have to bring in Amy and Kevin," he chuckled.

Everyone else in the room nodded in agreement. Sydney thought for a moment before she asked, "You remember that Holland kid?"

Aaron nodded, "He's one of the final people for Peter we have, yeah."

"Well, if you do end up casting him, let's just say that Lilah and him probably wouldn't have to do a chemistry test," she said.

When Lilah shut the door behind her, she exhaled loudly, unable to fight the smile off of her lips. She was on an adrenaline rush, like there was a part of her brain just dancing with excitement. She squealed and turned around, hoping to find Tom sitting back in his seat. But he wasn't there.

She looked up and down the hallway, only to find a few other people reading their scripts carefully. Frowning, she sat back down in her seat and twiddled her thumbs, waiting for Sydney to come back out of the room and wondering where Tom had gone.
