I arrived back at Kenickie's trailer to find him at the tiny television watching something. I couldn't get the thought of lying to Leo out of my head. Why not just say it to him straight that he did in fact rape me?
"Hey," I greeted him, dismissing my thought. He looked at me and gave me a nod. "Whatcha watching?"
"Twilight Zone," Kenickie said, not looking at me.
"What episode?" I asked.
"Hitchhiker."
"Mind if I join?" I asked, walking down to the master bedroom to change. I placed the Scorpion patch in my leather jacket. I slipped into some pjs that were in truth, lingerie, but they were so soft that after a hard day I would just lounge around in them. I tied a faux silk robe around myself.
"Sure," Kenickie yelled back at me. I walked back to where he was sitting and sat down on the open space next to him on the loveseat. After some trippy scenes, I found myself nestled close to him.
"Charles?" Kenickie shook me. I turned to him, my heavy lids making it hard to keep my eyes on him.
"Yeah?"
"What's your last name?" Kenickie looked at me expectantly, but I was a little taken back to really process his question. My last name? Why would he want to know that?
"Wilson," I responded. "Why?"
"Just wondering," Kenickie shrugged. "It's just that, I don't know much about you."
"Well, there ain't much to know," I smiled up at him, genuinely touched that he wanted to know more about me. "I'm just a girl from Brooklyn."
"Stop lying, you're so much more than that," Kenickie said softly. In the corner of my eye, the main character of tonight's episode was in the car with a man and they were all smiley at each other. That's how I felt.
"Well, I'm a girl who has an abusive father. I'm a rebel that really likes Elvis and who could care less about life. I love cars, but not ones that my enemies drive and I think that saying 'Gee oh, golly!' is vintage slang." I blabbered on. Kenickie smiled softly at my rambling and his arm got tighter around my shoulders.
"Well, I'm a kid from Los Angeles who's a rebel and could care less about the future as well. I love cars too and I'd rather win over my enemies' cars. I think that you're the most interesting girl there is," Kenickie repeated his interests back at me and I smiled at how similar we were.
"Wow, you think I'm interesting? Did you hit your head?" I grabbed his face to examine him and he smiled gently as he chuckled. "No, but, you really think I'm interesting?"
"Of course. More interesting than Rizzo, that's for sure," Kenickie said. I frowned at this, but didn't let Kenickie see. Even though Rizzo has been a pain in the ass for all of my school life here, she's still a human who has feelings. But, I just chuckled along.
We watched the rest of the Twilight Zone episode and by now, I was practically merged with Kenickie. He took off his shirt, claiming it was too warm in the middle of the program. When the credits came on, I released my grasp and stood up to go to bed.
"Well, I' ll see you tomorrow," I sighed and stretched.
"See ya," Kenickie nodded and headed to the bed over the driver's seat.
Once I was lying in bed, I couldn't get the nightmares that accumulated from the show out of my head. After a while, I couldn't take it.
"Kenickie?" I squeaked out.
"Charles? What's wrong?" Kenickie showed up at the door frame.
"I can't sleep," I mumbled, half-hopping he'd stay with me. "Can you sleep here? Only for tonight."
"Uh, sure," Kenickie's voice trembled. I felt the bed dip as Kenickie snuggled under the covers with me.
"Hey," Kenickie whispered. "Where'd you go today?"
"Just... out. I needed some fresh air," I spoke slowly. I felt him nod and soon, I was drifting off.
"You're mine," I heard Kenickie whisper after a while. He probably thought that I was already asleep, but I definitely wasn't after that. My heart beat fast as Kenickie pulled me close and fixed his face into the crook of my neck. A smile etched its way on my face and everything, Rizzo, Leo, the Pink Ladies, the T-Birds fell away from my mind. It was just me and Kenickie.

The next morning was Monday, but it was a late start. This meant that I didn't have to go to school until nine. Kenickie's arm found their way around my body. After a while of just laying there and basking in Kenickie's presence, I decided to get up and have a smoke. I gently lifted Kenickie's arm, which was harder than expected. But, I finally did free myself since I realized that he's a heavy sleeper.
I grabbed a box of cigarettes and took one out. I slipped on my silk robe, not bothering to tie it. I grabbed my blue lighter and lit my smoke. I stepped outside since I didn't feel like smoking inside.
I stood in the warm LA air, just smiling since I felt like I had everything. I took a drag of my smoke and held it loosely in my hand as I leaned against the RV. I heard footsteps and opened my eyes.
Rizzo stood there, her eyes wide and her face mortified. I looked at my outfit and realized what it must've looked like. Me, standing outside of Kenickie's place wearing lingerie. In that moment, all of my grudges against her and all of my distaste for Rizzo fell away and I felt guilty.
"Rizzo," I started, but she stormed past me and banged on the RV door.
"Rizzo! Stop, I can explain!" I cried. She pushed open the door after a few seconds and walked into the place.
"It ain't what it looks like!" I sobbed. This is it, I'm losing everything. I don't know what to do now. I threw my cigarette away and followed her inside.
"What the hell is this?" she shrieked and pointed at Kenickie in bed, the space next to him had blankets pushed down and the sheets wrinkled, an obvious sign that someone was in bed with him. And that someone being me.
Rizzo grabbed a bottle of whiskey and chucked it at the headboard, causing it to shatter above the asleep Kenickie.
"Rizzo!" I screamed, launching myself onto the bed, next to Kenickie. He stirred and woke up at the feeling of shards of glass falling down.
"What the hell?" he mumbled as he got his bearings. His eyes grew wide as he saw Rizzo standing at the foot of his bed.
"Huh. Guess this solves everything..." Rizzo shouted.
"Rizzo, I swear nothing happened!" I cried out.
"This don't look like nothin'!" Rizzo pointed at my pjs and Kenickie's topless appearance.
"You gotta believe us, nothing happened," Kenickie stood up.
"I don't care," Rizzo faked a big smile. She looked around the room and started throwing my things everywhere.
"It's gotta be here somewhere!" Rizzo yelled.
"What are you doing?!" I gasped when she broke my cigarette holder Marty gave me.
"Ah ha!" Rizzo popped up with my Scorpion patch from my leather jacket. My eyes widened at the badge in her hands and I stood up to snatch it. She held it up in the air and threw it to a dumb-founded Kenickie. He caught it and looked at me with anger.
"Kenickie..." I said, tears falling rapidly. "It's not what it looks like."
"Then what is it?" he asked.
"I-I..." I stuttered. I looked down, not knowing how to word it.
"Your whore-of-a-girlfriend here has been sleeping around with the Scorpions," Rizzo smirked. I turned to glare at her.
"Says you," I spat.
"Yes, says I." She put her hands on her hips and waited for Kenickie's words. I looked down, not bringing myself to look into his eyes. I don't blame Rizzo for doing this either. If some girl came along from the east coast and stole my place with my friends and boyfriend, I'd be looking for a way to get back at them.
"Get out," Kenickie said slowly.
"What? I- Kenickie let me explain!" I cried.
"You heard him," Rizzo looked at me in the eyes. "Get out."
"No." Kenickie said. We both turned to look at him. He looked at me in the eyes with a glint of affection before he turned to Rizzo.
"You. Get out." Kenickie seethed.
"What? Me? What about her?" Rizzo pointed at me with a shocked face.
"I said," Kenickie started slowly. "Get out!"
Rizzo jumped back at his outburst and refrained herself from biting my head off before stomping back outside.
I stayed in complete silence as I watched Kenickie rub his eyes from where he stood next to his bed. He held his head in his head as he balled the patch in his fist.
"You have two minutes to explain yourself," Kenickie said, looking at me finally. I sucked in a breath at the olive branch he just handed me.
"Okay, well..." I started. I told him about the rape, to the proposal and how Leo caught feelings all up to the cinema casino.
Kenickie's eyes laced over with an animalistic look as he darted his eyes to the ground. By now, the Scorpion patch was destroyed in his hands.
"I can't believe this," he growled.
"Kenick," I started slowly. He didn't do anything at the nickname. That's a good sign. "I'm so so sorry."
"Why are you sorry?" he asked me. "None of this was your fault. It was all Crater Face."
"Yeah," I nodded, realizing that this wasn't really all of my fault. "You're right."
"Look, as long as you weren't banging him for fun," he mused. I hid my uncomfortableness from him as he continued. "I'm fine with what you did to keep my gang together."
I smiled a little, but sighed. "I should've told you."
Kenickie just pulled me into a hug. He held onto me tight, mumbling an, "It's okay."

At school, I was eager to find Rizzo. Might seem like a death wish, but I really want to smooth things out with her. She was still a Pink Lady.
I caught sight of the raven-haired girl and gave her a holler. "Rizzo!"
She turned, but when she saw me, turned right back around and continued her way into the building.
"Don't try to get her to like you," Kenickie mumbled to me. I nodded, but went to catch up with her anyways. Rizzo ignored my footsteps.
"Rizzo," I called out. She walked faster and I almost tripped over my feet to get to her. "Rizzo!"
I grabbed her arm and turned her to face me. I then saw her face. Her eyes were puffy and red, her cheeks were stained with tears trials and her her hair was a really bad mess.
"You got your look," Rizzo stammered. "Now leave me alone."
"Rizzo, I'm so sorry," I started to cry. "You gotta believe me when I said that nothin' happened!"
"I really don't care anymore, Charlie." Rizzo looked down at her shoes. "It doesn't matter anymore."
"What? Rizzo, you two should talk it out," I said. Rizzo looked up at me in disbelief.
"'Talk it out?' There's nothing to talk about!" Rizzo turned and ran away into the school. I sighed, leaning against the cool brick of outside of the school, not really caring if I got caught smoking and pulled out a cigarette. I lit it and started to smoke today's events away.
