โโโ WHILE TONY AND THE OTHER AVENGERS RAN OFF TO THE AFRICAN COAST WHERE THEY SUSPECTED THE MAN TONY HAD BEEN SPEAKING ABOUT TO BE, MEILANI AND THE PACK STAYED BACK AT THE TOWER. They needed to figure out if there was anything else they could use against Ultron. Anything that those who couldn't heal, but could still help out on the field thanks to their own abilities โ which was really just Victor with his ability to cause pain but not heal himself โ could use in addition to said abilities. Give them more of a chance at getting back at Ultron and taking him down once and for all.
At least that was the hope.
Now, like any sane person, Meilani had the idea to just call up an old ally named Chris Argent to give them some ideas. He'd, originally, been hunting down Meilani's ass and was about ready to put her head on a pretty little stick surrounded by wolfsbane along with Apollo and his older brother, Derek Hale. However, that all slowly changed over time thanks to Meilani's late best friend and Chris' daughter, Allison. She'd helped him to see his family's old hunting ways was wrong and started to use the new motto of "we save those who can't save themselves". A motto that even Meilani stood by to this day, a small smile gracing her face anytime she reminded herself of said motto.
Though the thought of Allison sent a pang of guilt through Meilani as she still felt at fault for her death ( do not tell Adrian Martin of that, please and thank you ), Allison always wound up being the first person she thought of whenever she needed help with anything dealing with hunting and weapons. Her family had various types of weapons thanks to being hunters and Meilani knew they had various different arrows โ ranging from exploding ones, to ones that emitted a bright white light, to normal boring arrows โ and Meilani figured that maybe the Argents could help her out.
Granted, Allison was dead now โ no thanks to a very evil spirit that tormented Meilani and the pack's lives named Void โ but Chris was still around. He did take some time off from being a hunter, enjoying a nice little relationship with Melissa โ something Meilani still tried to get used to, honestly โ but he never minded if Meilani called him up for answers or questions. She was like a second daughter to him, even before he and Melissa started doing whatever it was that they were doing, and he'd drop just about anything for her.
However, it seemed the odds were, in fact, not in Meilani's favor that night because Chris hadn't answered. Neither did her mom and Meilani had frantically called Noah Stilinski by that point to make sure everything was okay. Thankfully, on that end, everything was and Melissa was just on a double shift and Noah didn't know where Chris was, but offered to tell him to call Meilani back if he ever saw him in town.
That was time that the pack didn't necessarily have, especially not if they had to make sure they were ready for whatever the Avengers were to need when they called on the pack. So . . . Adrian had off handedly joked about summoning Allison himself with his necromancer abilities. Which, much to Adrian's annoyance, turned into something that wasn't a joke. It didn't show in his face, but Meilani knew the boy was still apprehensive about the whole thing. Especially since the last time he tried to bring up a body, it resulted in him seeing ghosts at a consistent rate. Mostly the face of his late best friend, Toby Valack.
The pack had all piled into the training room, a massive space that looked like it could have been the size of a damn warehouse and Adrian sat himself down in the middle of the room with the candles he needed sans a grimoire that he claimed he no longer needed. Everyone had backed off Adrian to let the red haired boy do what he needed to do. Sawyer had hopped onto the two gymnast looking rings that hung down from the ceiling and shoved his legs through them using them as a makeshift swing. A boyish grin on his face, giggling like a child anytime he'd reach his hand down to playfully brush his hand along the top of Hugo's curly hair. A twitch formed in Hugo's lips at the sight, even though he did try to coax his boyfriend back down to the ground because they had important matters to face.
Then there was Apollo who hung himself upside down from the bar across the room that was no doubt used to help the team get into a motion of leaping from building to building. Much like the pack, not everyone was a super charged soldier or a god so they needed to use stealth and athleticism to their advantages. He swung loosely back and forth as his legs wrapped tightly around the bar, hands grazing gently along the floor while Victor merely rose an eyebrow at him, leaning one arm against the beams that kept up the bar.
Apollo chuckled suddenly, eyes going slightly crossed as the blood began to rush to his head. "Whoah . . . dizzy."
Victor and Meilani exchanged a look across the room and, with merely a nod of approval from Victor, he kicked up his leg and sent Apollo crashing face first to the dark blue mat below the lowest bar. A grunt fell past the brunette's lip as he pressed his face into the mat, grumbling at his boyfriend that he wasn't some type of cat and was, rather, a wolf. He didn't land on his feet.
"Bummer," Victor mused, kicking lightly at his boyfriend's side to get him to stand up and focus.
Meilani chewed the inside of her lip while the others talked amongst themselves, waiting for Adrian to be ready and do the spell that would bring up Allison's spirit long enough for them talk to her. Get any information they could out of her. "Are you sure about this, heat miser? I mean . . . I know the last time you โ"
Adrian held a pale hand up for Meilani to stop talking, the other hand accepting another candle from Stiles that they had begun to set up around Adrian in a half circle. Stiles had already begun to bend down and light up the candles for his boyfriend without even being needed to be asked. It was almost uncanny how in sync the boyfriends were sometimes. "Wolfie, seriously. Chill out, would you? I've done plenty of times after the night I tried to bring back Toby in junior year, okay? I can do this and I don't mind doing it if it helps you."
Meilani licked her lips and shifted a bit on her feet, stomach churning at the thought of seeing Allison again after all these years. She gulped down the knot in her throat that formed at the thought of how she still blamed herself. How she still felt like she could have saved Allison before she'd been stabbed by one of the Oni Demons that Void had been using to his advantage. The same night Allison pushed Meilani out of the way so she wouldn't get stabbed by the silver sword doused in wolfsbane. The same blade that could have killed Meilani . . . killed Allison instead. Meilani, admittedly, sometimes still had nightmares about it which was a whole other reason she didn't sleep well at night. And the only person that knew about any of it was Isaac and that was only because he heard her thoughts.
Adrian furrowed his eyebrows, reading Meilani better than anyone else in the whole room. Even Isaac who was bonded to her through their mate bond, the same boy that kept glancing over at her even as he spoke to Liam and Sawyer about something that Meilani didn't bother trying to listen in on. His blue eyes obviously trying to make sure she was okay and was probably yet another reason Adrian's green eyes drank Meilani in, as if that would get him to dive in and know exactly what was on her mind.
"Meilani," Adrian said, causing her to flinch at the use of her name and not the usual "wolfie" he'd used on her ever since he found out she was a werewolf. It was when Meilani knew Adrian was being so deadly serious that it might as well be another ghost that Adrian could see that the others couldn't. "What's bugging you?"
Meilani cleared her throat and hoped to God she could lie as well she thought she could. If she were to even remotely hint to Adrian that she still felt responsible for Allison's death, he'd haul her out of there so fast by her ear that her head would spin. Adrian never touched Meilani, but if he was angry enough at her ( which was incredibly rare ), he'd resort to tugging on her ear and hauling her out of whatever room they were in to get some privacy. "N-nothing. Just . . . weird seeing Allison again after . . . you know. That's all."
Adrian, clearly not believing her for a second, stared daggers at her. "Bullshit, Meilani."
Meilani opened her mouth to retort when Stiles announced that he'd finished setting up the candles and Adrian could begin. Taking the opportunity of Adrian's momentary distraction as any time Stiles opened his mouth, Adrian was snapping his attention to him in a heartbeat. It had earned many teasing "simp"s to come from Meilani whenever it happened. However, this time she didn't tease him and merely took a the opportunity to escape over to the others to give Adrian the room he needed. She didn't miss the look Adrian shot her as she ran, though, that clearly shouted "we aren't done talking about this".
It was false hope to wish that Adrian would forget about said conversation.
The room grew quiet while Adrian fluttered his eyes shut and held his hands out over the flames, using the energy from them to aid him in gaining enough energy to go through with the spell. Meilani still didn't understand what flames had to do with energy โ even after all her watchings of The Vampire Diaries with Bonnie Bennett โ but it seemed to help as the flames soared up so they flickered an inch above Adrian's head as he mumbled in something that Meilani thought was Latin, but she wasn't entirely sure.
It didn't take long for the flames to suddenly shoot back down and flame out and Adrian to reopen his eyes slowly again. No one moved or breathed while they waited for something to happen. For Allison to come out of the many dark corners of the room and her beaming smile would be on display like it always was. That she'd pop out like she was supposed to and help the pack out because she'd always been all about helping and protecting her friends. Willing to do anything for them in a second's notice.
However, none of that happened. The only thing that happened was Apollo questioning what was going on and then Stiles collapsing two seconds later.
Meilani had seen Adrian nervous a very few times in all the years they'd been best friends. There was the time where he find out that Victor had attempted to kill her only for Liam to successfully do that just hours later. Something that Adrian really forgave the young beta for . . . ever. Probably never would either if Meilani knew Adrian well enough.
There was the time after Toby had died. He had worried to Meilani โ albeit a few months after the death โ that he worried he hadn't given the boy enough attention. As, in Toby's last few weeks alive, he'd been trying to tell Adrian something. Which he never got to do as it was during a point where Adrian had been about neck deep in supernatural drama with Meilani and the pack that he hadn't given Toby much of his time. Something that Adrian had kicked himself over for years after. Much like Meilani still did with Allison.
There was the time when Stiles got erased from everyone's memories by a group called the Ghost Riders. Then, when Adrian started to remember Stiles again . . . Adrian worried he'd finally gone insane. That this boy he'd suddenly remembered alongside his sister, Lydia Martin, when everyone else still didn't have a single recollection of the hazel eyed and fluffy haired boy Adrian spoke about. A boy with the name Stiles of all things.
All of those moments did not even compare to the worry that graced Adrian now as he stood at the foot of Stiles' bed in the infirmary. He chewed his barely there fingernails down the nub, not tearing his eyes off the boy as if he'd disappear if he did so. A slight bounce had taken over his body as he moved up and down on the balls of his feet in a need to move or he'd combust from all the emotions running rampant inside of him.
With Tony and Bruce both not being there, Meilani had been the only one in the Tower that had any somewhat knowledge of medical things. Melissa had been a nurse and Meilani had been studying to be a nurse up until the Avengers called on her and the pack. She didn't know everything and, with JARVIS still out of commission also from Ultron's attack, Meilani had to try and check Stiles out based off memory and her own abilities that she used to her advantage.
Stiles' heartbeat was slightly faster than it usually was, but that didn't make her too nervous as it wasn't escalated to a point that could be considered bad. More like his body was subconsciously fearing for Stiles while he was passed out. Dark bags rested under his eyes that Meilani tried to remember were there before in the training room when Adrian had done the spell. Even a sort of . . . haunting aura had taken over Stiles that had Meilani beginning to furrow her eyebrows over.
"What?"
Meilani's head snapped up to Adrian who still didn't take his eyes off Stiles' still form on the bed. The Stilinski boy's chest rose and fell softly with his breaths and it had been the first thing that Adrian had said to Meilani since Stiles collapsed. She was so sure that Stiles just fainted as he had a tendency to do so when stress levels got high, but he hadn't been stressed at all. He'd even kissed Adrian softly before he'd run over to stand with the rest of the pack to wait for Adrian to finish the spell. So . . . what had made Stiles faint in the first place? Especially so soon after Adrian had finished said spell?
"You have this look on your face that's like you're thinking," Adrian noted, green eyes finally meeting Meilani's face and she frowned deeper at the sight of how dull looked. "And when you of all people think that scares me more than I'd like to admit. So whatever the hell you're thinking you better say it because I'm not Isaac. I can't read your mind all the time!"
"I โ " Meilani exhaled heavily, letting Adrian's hostility roll off her shoulders because she knew he was only lashing out at the moment due to his worry over Stiles. "I don't know. I have this feeling around him that's just . . . off. I don't know how to explain it."
Adrian scoffed and gestured to Stiles frantically. "Well, yeah. My freakin' boyfriend collapsed, Meilani. Of course something is going to be off."
Meilani opened her mouth to say something when Stiles began to stir on the bed, causing both Meilani and Adrian to snap their necks in his direction. The duo simultaneously moved closer to Stiles with Adrian rounding the bed and sitting on the side, grasping his boyfriend's hand. A groan escaped Stiles' now chapped lips and he scrunched his eyes closed as if the lights above his head were bothering him.
"Sti?" Adrian whispered, squeezing Stiles' hand assuringly to remind him he was there. A pale thumb swiped along the back of Stiles' hand as Adrian tried to coax his boyfriend to open his eyes. "Hey, babe, come on. Open those eyes for me so we can know you're okay."
"A-Adrian?" Stiles mumbled drowsily, still not opening his eyes as his head lolled along the pillow and in the direction of his lover.
Meilani stilled at Stiles' response, tilting her head to the side with furrowed brows. Something was definitely off with Stiles, minus the very obvious of him just having woken up after fainting. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but something inside of her screamed to yell at Adrian to stop moving closer to his boyfriend and not to brush the hair away from his face like he was doing now. Something screamed at her to pull him back and away from Stiles because something was . . . wrong.
Not that Meilani got to act on her instincts as one second she and Adrian were at Stiles' sides and the next they both found themselves flung across the room and forced down into the chairs at the end of Stiles' bed. Both parties blinked rapidly in surprise and tried to stand back up, but an invisible force kept them both forced down into their seats so they couldn't move a single muscle.
A chuckle that was very unlike Stiles escaped the pale boy's lips and he sat up in the bed, almost reminding Adrian and Meilani of Dracula rising from his coffin. Only Stiles wasn't a vampire, but he was definitely something when his eyes flashed black with a twisted smirk on his face. He scooted to the end of the bed and propped his elbows up on the small bar there and rested his chin in his hands.
"What's with the long faces, hmmm?" Stiles mocked them, a bone chilling feeling erupting down both Adrian and Meilani's spines as they both stared at him wide eyed. "What? Don't remember little ol' me?" He tutted at them and shook his head. "And to think we had so much fun last time I was here, Little Cub and Princess. I thought I left an impression."
Meilani choked on the air she didn't have and felt the dread spread quickly through her as she stared at her best friend. She could feel Adrian's green eyes boring into the side of her face but she couldn't tear her eyes from Stiles โ or should she say Void โ as he slipped off the bed and finally approached them. "Void? How โ how is that โ"
Void clicked his tongue and snapped a finger in Meilani's direction. "How is it possible I'm here? Well, my pretty little wolf, I escaped. See, you did get rid of me when you bit into me โ thanks for that, by the way. However, what you and your little pack failed to scrounge up was the fact you'd only send me to Hell. Where my poor little recluse of a soul was burned and tortured and every other horrible thing you've heard about Satan's Playground. It's very dark and lonely down there, you know. Time also works differently down there so imagine how I feel after being stuck down there for nearly a hundred years in Hell time. Bet you your little Winchester brothers from that show you like didn't really prepare you for this one, huh?"
Adrian growled from next to Meilani, seeming to come to his senses a lot quicker than Meilani had. He struggled against the force pressing him down into the chair as he tried to get the strength to strangle the thing possessing his boyfriend. "You leave Stiles alone, you piece of shit! We got rid of you once, don't think we won't do it again!"
Void faked a pout in Adrian's direction and trailed his fingers delicately along the side of his face, which was chilling as he did just like Stiles would have. "I'd think about that one there, Tiger. See, little Stiles is still in here with me, awake and seeing everything. Feeling everything I do right now. He's crying for you actually, but I think we'll let him suffer a little longer, yeah? I intend to stay much longer this time, really get to have some quality time with my two favorite people โ the true alpha and the necromancer."
"I still don't understand," Meilani breathed, earning Void's attention and she still couldn't get over the sight of Stiles not actually being Stiles. "How โ how did you get out?"
"Now that really was a bit tricky, if I must say," Void said, dropping his hand back to his side as he began to circle around Meilani and Adrian as a predator would do to its prey before it pounced. "See, when your little best friend over here tries to bring up a spirit from the other side, it opens up a doorway. Anything can get through if they tried hard enough. Bless sweet little Allison's heart, she's still got that spunk even on the other side. I saw an opening and I took it, escaped just seconds before the little huntress could. The squeeze to crawl up out of Hell was a horrible one, but . . . such is life, am I right? I got fused to your little boy toy here, which is good because I did love it in here years ago. Very roomy and warm."
Adrian's hands clenched into fists as he barred his teeth at Void as he stopped in front of Adrian and Meilani again, showing off Stiles' body to the both of them. He had finally given up in his efforts to get out of his invisible prison and launch himself at Void, regardless of him being inside Stiles' body or not. Though, his fight slowly gave out as his shoulders slumped, realization taking over his features. "Wait โ you're saying because I did the spell . . . it helped you get out? I did this?"
Void grinned at Adrian and clapped his hands. "See, I knew you weren't as dumb as you made yourself out to be, little cub. You're too smart for your own good. I'm here and for a long time this time around. I'm going to have my fun round here while I can because . . . me and Stiles? We're one now."
"What? What do you mean one?" Meilani stressed, finally finding her voice again while Adrian just seemed to grow even more pale if that were even possible. He looked like he was two seconds from throwing up everything he'd had for dinner that night.
Though, it seemed like they would never find that out โ at least not right now โas a voice came over the speakers in the infirmary. Through both of their muddled heads, Adrian and Meilani both eventually realized it to be Tony's voice. He'd somehow connected to the speakers in the Tower ( probably through his Iron Man suit or the jet ) and announced that the pack had to get while they still could. That he had sent coordinates to the small plane still left behind in the Tower that the pack would need to board and get to a safe house that the rest of the Avengers were headed to. He'd explain everything to them once they made it there, but they had to hurry because the plane was set to take off in ten minutes.
Void whistled lowly and tore his gaze from the speakers that rested high up on the walls of the infirmary and back over to Meilani and Adrian who exchanged a look, though Adrian had only looked at her for all of a second before he tore his gaze away from her. The sight broke Meilani's heart and she gasped when Void finally released the two of them. "I get to meet the Avengers, huh? How about we make all of this a bit more interesting, shall we?"
Without another word, Stiles' body suddenly slumped again and Adrian was out of his chair faster than Meilani ever could and caught his boyfriend before he could hit the ground. Groggy mumbles flew past his lips as his hand clutched to front of Adrian's shirt, hazel eyes poking out in the small slits he'd made in his eyes as he tried to open them. Adrian shushed his boyfriend and assured him that he had him, not even bothering to comment on how Void wasn't in control at the moment as he was more focused on the fact that Stiles was looking at him now and not Void.
As if the pack and the Avengers could afford any more problems . . . they just got slapped with another big one. One that Meilani didn't know how she was going to explain to the pack or the Avengers. She had a lot of thinking to do on that plane.

โ the way i hate writing original content because i struggle so damn hard and second guess everything because i don't want it to be boring or seem jumbled. however, i also love it because gives you some extra bits in between all the canon Avenger's stuff! this was an idea that was approved by ellis way back when i first posted this book in May so . . . naturally i had to go with the angst here cause she cheered it on!
โ stiles, in this fic, will basically reflect the plot of my supernatural book WHISPER where Stiles and Void have a sort of Venom vibe. void can take over whenever stiles is feeling strong enough emotions or just gives up the control to him. when void's in control, he has a lot of the demon bits you'd see in Supernatural and some other stuff. so he can fling people across rooms, is a strong boi, can cause pain and all that fun stuff! it's going to be a big help to the team in the upcoming films so i'm excited to show void even more in civil war and on! but for now we'll be chill with the origin stuff and the team and the pack getting used to this new thing happening
โ sorry if this did appear a bit jumbled, i tried to explain it all the best i could! i hope you all liked it though and next chapter we'll be at the safe house ( aka clint's house ) so im excited for that! more mcrogers ( steve and meilani's ship name, thank you ) content will be provided in that chapter! we need to get them together already folks, i just need them.
