"Logan's here?" Harvest blinked when Kinsey delivered the news.
"He was fine at first and then he just ran." Kinsey explained, Harvest going down the hallway immediately. "Maybe he needs space?"
She ignored her sister, opening the bathroom door and looking over. Logan sat on the ground, infront of the shower. Harvest blinked as she looked down at him. "Hey."
"Hey." he mumbled back. "Can you shut the door?"
Harvest closed the bathroom door, walking down to sit infront of him. "You're on the floor in my bathroom."
"What a weird way to start a new page." he joked slightly, pulling at the skin on his fingers. "I just- I wanted to come over and help set up for our party and then I got here and I just, I guess, panicked."
"Something in the house triggered you?" the redhead asked honestly, trying to recall the few things she'd learned when she went to therapy. Despite only going for two weeks and then getting pissed off and never going back.
"No, not really." Logan shook his head, looking up again. "Just in general, I guess. It's all I think about now."
The accident.
She placed a hand on his with a small nod. "People deal with trauma in their own ways. I can understand if you aren't ready. The party can be canceled."
"I wanna have the party." Logan shook his head. "I just don't know if I can."
Harvest though of a way to fix this before she gave a nod. "Okay, I have a code I did before moving here."
Logan gave her an odd look.
"When i'd get overwhelmed in public I'd go up to my dad and kick his ankle three times. It was our own little thing. He knew then that being around everyone, when all my siblings had friends and I had no one, that him and I would leave." Harvest explained the little memory to Logan, a faint, yet sad, smile fell upon her lips. "I could pass that onto you."
Logan hesitated. "Three kicks?"
"Three kicks then I'll climb up on the table and tell everyone to leave in less then two minutes or i'm calling the police and taking their license plates." she joked in returned, a grin across her face that actually made Logan smile. "How's that for comprising?"
"Sounds pretty good." he said back with a nod. "My dads think I should get on anxiety medicine."
"Do you think it would help you?" she asked him with a nod, picking at the bathroom rug.
"I don't know if it's anxiety though." Logan explained, licking his lips with a small sigh. "It just feels like i'm there. Like when I blink, i'm just right back in the car again, almost dying. Every time I see my dad or I leave the house I just panic and think someone, anyone out there, tried to kill me and will come back."
Harvest felt terrible guilt as she reached to squeeze his hand again. "Logan, I could never understand what this feels like for you. And i'm not gonna pretend to, at all. But what I do know is that fear of someone coming after you is something that can screw with your head in ways that no one could ever understand."
Logan knew she'd get it, after telling him last year what happened with Sam. "How did you stop feeling that way?"
She felt even more guilty for bringing it up. "I didn't under he died. But what helped me was the people around me. I had Kins, Ty, then you, Gabe, Zadie, Scot, Dough, everyone here. People loved me, they were watching out for me no matter what and I had to trust that they'd protect me. Let us do that. Whoever did this to you is gonna pay when we find them, I swear on my life that no one is ever gonna hurt you, or anyone else, without having to deal with me. But for now, know you have us, and we are going to do whatever we can to keep you safe."
Her speech made him feel lighter, feel like maybe he could get through this. He didn't think about locking himself in his room and never leaving. He didn't think about staying underwater in the bath until his breathing stopped. He didn't think about the fact that whoever tried to kill him could be anywhere, watching, waiting. Logan just thought about Harvest, and he knew that if he could trust her and the people around him, maybe he'd be okay. "Thank you."
"Harvest!" a voice called from the hallway. They both recognized it.
"Gabe?" Logan looked as her oddly. "He's here?"
"He was suppose to help with the party." the redhead stood up, looking to her blonde friend as he stood as well. "Okay, i'm gonna slip out and distract him before you come out. Don't want him to get the wrong idea, you know?"
"And what idea is that?" Logan gave her a minor smirk, getting an eyeroll in return before Harvest slipped out the door, shutting it began her. Turning, she saw Kinsey and Gabe having, what seemed to be, a very serious conversation.
"Did something happen?" the Locke girl asked, walking toward her boyfriend and sister.
"Was just telling Kinsey how I have been tutoring Eden in Trig." Gabe gave a grin as he wrapped an arm around Harvest. "What have you been up to, Birthday Girl?"
Logan hit his head hard on the door when he heard it. Her birthday, of course, why did he forget it? He came to plan their combined party and he completely forget that they weren't born on the exact same day, she was today, he was in a week. Gabe looked toward the bathroom oddly.
Harvest eyes widened. "Our pipes busted from the snow. Entire house sounds like a ghost is haunting us."
She coughed loudly in hopes of Logan hearing and staying quiet.
"Well, happy birthday." Gabe grinned as he held up a small bag. "Don't open it until later though."
"Don't give it to me then." Harvest said honestly. "Because I will definitely open it."
"She will." Kinsey confirmed.
"But thank you." the redhead grinned slightly from under his arm, a tight squeeze to his waist.
"Is Logan coming over to help plan? Haven't seen him around school in a while." Gabe spoke up as he looked at the sisters.
"He should be. Later." Kinsey nodded her head.
"The accident has really just hurt him more mentally then anything." Harvest whispered to Gabe so the boy down the hall, in the bathroom, wouldn't hear.
"Hey." Tyler came down the stairs as he looked at the three. "Uh, i'm heading out."
"You're not staying for the party?" Gabe asked curiously.
"I should be back but, uh, i'm heading to school." Tyler shook his head and looked down at his feet for a second.
"On a Saturday?" Gabe gave a questionable look.
Tyler looked to Harvest and Kinsey in questioning.
"Oh, it's cool, I get it." Gabe shook his head when he realized the three were hiding something. "You don't have to tell me anything."
Harvest gave a guilty look over at Tyler, hesitating before a small nod escaped her.
"It's my uncle." Kinsey spoke up for them. "We put his memories back in his head."
Gabe had a slightly alarming look. "Wow."
"But now he keeps having these, like, flashes of magic, but they don't-they don't make any sense to him because he's an adult." Tyler said honestly as he walked further down the stairs to join the three.
"He's really mess up and confused." Harvest let go of Gabe to lean on the stairs. "We're just trying to help now."
"What are you gonna do?" Gabe asked, looking at each of them.
"Duncan made this key-" Tyler began, Harvey saw Gabes body jult slightly and worried he'd thought she was a liar, considering she'd already told him she didn't know how to make them. "When he was a kid that allows adults to remember magic, but our dad hid it at the academy somewhere."
Gabe gave a questionable look. "Uh, Duncan can make keys?"
"Apparently." Kinsey laughed slightly.
"Well, um, I'll come help you search." Gabe said honestly. Another rumble of something falling fell from the bathroom, making Harvest' eyes widened. "The pipes are really messed up, aren't they?"
"So bad." the girl nodded in agreement.
"I can manage on my own." Tyler nodded to Gabe from his previous statement.
"No, it's a big campus. You'll need the extra eyes." Gabe insisted heavily. Harvest gave a small smile at his want to help.
"Uh, all right. Yeah, actually, that would help." Tyler agreed before a string of harsh knocks hit the door. Kinsey pulled a odd look, pulling the door open as the four all gapped at Logan, who was out of breath and had a twig in his hair.
"Hey guys." he greeted out of breath with a boyish grin. "Need some help planning a birthday? Or anything else? Maybe finding some keys?"
Tyler and Gabe shared an odd look. "Uh, yeah, okay, I can fill you in."
Logan smiled as he walked in, whispered to Harvest. "Crawled out the bathroom window."
