"I can't believe you guys broke Uncle Dunc." Bode spoke after Kinsey and Tyler told the pair what happened to Duncan. Erin by their side.
"We-we didn't break him, Bode." Tyler huffed in annoyance.
"It really sounds like you put all his memories of magic back, and since he's a grown-up, it broke him." Bode nodded as he looked at his older brother.
"I mean, what the hell were either of you thinking?" Harvey's build up rage coming out as she looked at her brother and sister, "Common sense that it wouldn't work, jesus christ."
"Cut them some slack." Erin spoke her way.
"Give me a break." Harvest rolled her eyes.
"He seemed so confused." Kinsey frowned.
"Cant imagine why." Harvest mumbled in disbelief.
"Hopefully, it'll pass." Erin nodded quickly.
"Somehow, he found this." Tyler fished the key from his pocket, holding it out in the palm of his hand.
"You found the Anywhere Key?" Bode rose to his feet to take it away, "Where? How? Do you think that Dodge dropped it during the Crown of Shadows attack? No, she wouldn't be that clumsy. Would she?"
"Who knows?" Kinsey shook her head.
Bode exhaled, "What door was it in? Was it even in a door?"
Tyler rubbed his face, "He said it was upstairs. He didn't-"
"When did he find it?" Bode cut him short.
"He doesn't remember." Tyler paced the room.
"This is huge. We need to find out!" Bode announced.
"Yeah, I agree." Tyler yanked the key from his hand, "And we'll deal with it as soon as we deal with Duncan and Logan."
"Our party is this weekend. Whoever wants to hurt Logan will most likely be there." Harvest spoke up on the mater, "I mean, there's no one that hates him in a murderous way. Whoever wants to kill him has to be someone close, right?"
"It makes sense." Kinsey nodded, "You guys decided on combining your birthday parties?"
"Scot said it would be cheaper that way for the cake." Harvest shrugged, "How can I even think of a party though when my best friend was almost killed and my uncle is broken?"
"Erin, this was your idea." Kinsey stood as she looked toward the older woman.
"I know. I thought it would fix him-" Erin began.
"Because restoring memories into someone brain without their permission is a great idea." Harvest mumbled with a scoff.
"Maybe it's only half the solution." Erin pointed out.
Tyler looked toward Kinsey, "That key Duncan made, the one you used with Dad and your friends to remember as adults."
"Yeah, the Memory Key, that's what we called it." Erin nodded her head, "Maybe we can use that to help his brain process the memories."
"Do you have any idea where it is?" Tyler rose an eyebrow at her.
"I can look for it." Erin nodded her head, "Rendell hid it somewhere."
"Going back into Uncle Duncan's head without him knowing is wrong." Harvest spoke up with looks of disbelief around the room, "All of you are ridiculous for doing it the first time."
"Can you not, right now?" Tyler rolled his eyes at her.
"We were trying to help him remember." Kinsey defended herself.
"And look were that got you." Harvest said as she crossed her arms.
"We should also find out why the Anywhere Key just appeared out of nowhere." Bode spoke up before the three could start to argue, "I'm gonna ask him."
"No, no." Tyler stopped him quickly, "Look, you stay home and look after Duncan, but don't harass him about the key. He's confused enough."
"Look, it's only been a few hours. Let's give it some more time and see if he recovers." Kinsey shrugged her shoulders as she looked around the room.
Logan woke with a harsh gasp, his dreams haunting him of the terrifying event that happened a few days ago. Sweat dripped from his chest and his head, blonde curls slicked back. The pain in his shoulder was worse when he woke up, the pain killers left on the nightstand there for him to take. Harvest sent a text saying good morning, like she always had.
"Logan?" Ruby asked as he peaked through his sons door. Logan gave a slightly panicked look, one hand gripping the knife he stored under his pillow. His dads got home after he was in the hospital, there son still having what appeared to be PTSD from not only the accident, but never knowing if it had been his actual dad or not, "You still have your star wars blankets."
It comforted Logan knowing that had been his real dad, exhaling as he sat up better in bed. Ruby walked in, sitting at the end of his bed, "You wanna try school today?"
The clear dark circles under his eyes indicated he didn't sleep much last night. It was funny, Logan thought. When he first met Harvey, she was suffering badly from nightmares. Look at them now, he'd been the one having them the worst, "Maybe a half day?"
"You still have the rest of the week off, you don't have to rush it." Ruby shook his head, staring at his son, "We called Dr.Firset again."
"Dad." Logan huffed.
"I just think you should talk this through. Clearly, you haven't been sleeping and having hallucinations is completely normal but we just want to make sure that's it." Ruby nodded. Obviously, Logan couldn't tell his dads about the keys, which made everything a lot harder as well. He came up with the story that he wasn't sleeping well and imaged the whole thing. And because he was a teenage boy, it seemed pretty believable over a bunch of magically keys.
Logan shrugged in response.
"Birthdays is soon." Ruby smiled to change the topic, "Are you and Harvest still combining your parties because your birthdays are so close?"
"Yeah, at Key House." Logan nodded. As much as he loved that his dads were home, it was easier just to be alone with his thoughts right now. He hadn't been been able to look at Ross yet. Ruby gave a forced smiled as he rubbed Logan's knee before standing up, leaving the room.
The boy on the bed exhaled loudly, feeling sick from not sleeping, pained from his shoulder, and all around a constant state of anxiety and panic from never knowing what was real anymore.
Harvest got an invite to the dorm party via Gabe. She invited Logan but he shot her, then shot down the idea of her coming to visit him instead. It was clear he just didn't want to see anyone. When she showed up, Gabe seemed as though his attention was anywhere but her. He instead of intensely focused on Eden, a form of insecurities rolling across her. Pouring a little bit of vanilla into her coke, she slowly approached him, "You didn't go to class this morning."
Gabe turned to her, a grin spreading across his face, "Forgot to do the reading so I just stayed in my dorm."
Harvest nodded, fingers running across the red solo cup. Gabe sensed the weird vibe she'd been giving, "You okay?"
He outreached to touch her hand.
Harvest nodded, "Eden looks nice tonight."
Gabe glanced back at the blonde oddly, slowly looking back at Harvest, "You think so?"
"You don't?" Harvest asked him.
Gabe shrugged, "She's cute, yeah. But not really my type, I guess."
A snort left the girl, "What is your type then?"
"Redheads that gave bad lungs because they smoke too much." Gabe joked, smelling the fresh cigarette on her. Harvest cracked a grin, "Do you wanna talk?"
This was it, his plan to break up with her. Gabe lead her toward a quieter corner in Mr Bs dorm room, the pair leaning on the wall as he looked down at her, "Things have been weird lately, haven't they?"
"I really didn't mean to completely destroy your truck." Harvest shook her head quickly.
Gabe laughed, "I don't mean that. I just mean with us, you know? I feel like we're not on the same page anymore. I'm sorry if you think I hurt you."
Harvest bit the inside of her mouth. She owed it to Gabe to be honest with him, considering he'd been the same to her, "Something happened last year, a few weeks after you and I got together. It was just once, but I think I should tell you."
"I want us to be honest with each other." Gabe nodded his head, "I'd never lie to you about anything."
Harvest looked away a second, "Logan and I kissed once."
Gabe seemed as though he was forcing the shock on his face, like he'd expected her to say it, "You did?"
"Yeah. It was really late and he got me a typewriter. I just- i'm sorry. Like, really. I just wanted to be able to tell you that, because you deserve to at least know the truth since you never lie to me." Harvest spoke guilty like, looking up at her with sad eyes, waiting for any kind of reaction, "Do you wanna hate me?"
"No." Gabe looked down at her, "I'm just confused on why you tell me now."
"Because I can feel us start to slip away, and I don't want that to happen." she gave him a sad smile, "I like us together, when we're doing going."
"We haven't been good lately though. Everyone else things so, they think it's you but I obviously stand up for you." Gabe confirmed as he wrapped his arms around her. No one said anything about them being off, Harvest knew that, so why would he say they did, "Let's get back to how we were."
Harvest had to nod, hugging him tightly as she could only hope that whatever that weird feeling that lingered lately would go away, because being with Gabe was more simple and what she needed, the love story that didn't turn her into the villain somehow, and they could be just as into each other as they were last year. But she should have known by now that her gut wasn't wrong, she should have known that ignoring something that was clearly there would just get her hurt in the end. Just like it did Logan, who had been in a therapy session right now.

PLEASE READ.
okay i wanted to talk
to you guys about this
really quick, even though
i've avoided saying it for a
while now. if you want to
like gabe and harvey together,
that's fine, i agree that they
have chemistry, especially in
s1.but what i don't like is when
gabe says something that clearly is manipulating, gaslighting, and just all around
being toxic to her. i know this
generation likes to romanticize
toxic relationship for some
weird reason but coming from
someone who has been in one
myself, and just seeing my mom
finally get out of one less then
a week ago after over ten years
of being if one,
i would just prefer if you guys
didn't romanticize THOSE moments. that's all i'm trying
to say really.
also, i was told i was "wasting
peoples time" last chapter
in the comments bc ig it seemed
like this book wasn't a gabe
fic like it says in the description.
it says gabexfem!oc and male!ocxfem!oc so i figured everyone
would know that it is a love
triangle. idk, i'm sure most of
you know that but just incase
any of you were confused on why the chapters either revolve
around gage and harvest or logan and harvest, because i
quite like love triangles and that
was the entire point of the book.
anyways, hope non of you think
im wasting your time bc that
kinda makes me sad to think any of you, especially the ones
who have given me a lot of support, would think this book
is a waste of your time.
okay, sorry for the long authors
note. todays been an emotional
day and i always feel the need to
type a lot after bad days.
