"What do you mean no"

"No, because you are going to be coming with me," Alexander stated exasperatedly.

Raina scoffs, clearly displeased by the answer she was receiving. "I am not asking you for your opinion. I am merely telling you."

"Raina, if you take a single step towards the carriage, you know it would not be good for you."

Alexander firmly tells her in no mood to start an argument.

Before Raina could start bickering, she heard Ivan talking to Alina. "Go. You heard me. Let's go. Get in."

"No," Alina uttered as she looked around trying to find something. Rather someone. "There's been a mistake. I need to find Mal."

Raina turned back to Aleksander with her eyebrows raised as a way of saying see. 

Aleksander raised his eyebrows as well, not backing down from his decision.

Raina sighs and looks at Alina and Ivan's conversation before turning back to Aleksander and using the one thing that will make anyone do what she says. 

Sweet innocent doe eyes and sticking out her bottom lip into a pout while softly saying, "Now will you let me go with Alina. Can you not see how distressed and confused she is."

Aleksander tilts his head back groaning while Raina breaks into a small victory grin. 

Aleksander takes a step forward Raina. "Alright only because she will come if you're there..but stay safe." Raina happily nods her head and closes the distance and kisses Aleksander's cheek. As she leaves she doesn't see the light pink color dusted in his cheek.

"Alina", a voice calls out.

Alina turns away from Ivan and the carriage as she hears her name being called and sees Raina walking up with a gentle smile across her face. 

Alina's posture relaxes before she remembers, "Mal, I need to speak to him. I'm going to speak to him". 

She gets cut off as Raina takes her arm and leads her away from the prying ears of the guard.

"Listen to me. Every spy in the area will hear what you did and our enemies will come for you. Our only chance is to get you to Os Alta, behind palace walls, before you get killed or are placed in any danger.", Raina states in a hurried tone.

Alina furrows her eyebrows before shaking away the grip Raina had, "I-How about Mal."

"I am giving you my word, I will do everything in my power to find Mal and have him talk to you. But you really need to get into the carriage alright." Alina took a deep breath before walking towards the carriage and getting in leaving Raina to follow her, finally happy that she complied.

"Feydor!" Raina exclaims as she reaches over Alina to hug the man. 

Feydor chuckles, "Miss me already". Raina giggled before she noticed Alina sitting there awkwardly and looking down at her hands.

"Oh, this is Feydor," Raina introduces. Alina nodded her head, "Pleasure to meet you".

As the carriage starts its journey toward Os Alta, Alina was trying to make her point on why she is useless and could do nothing to help while Feydor was listening and explaining why she is needed. Although Alina couldn't listen, all the poor girl wanted was to go back as a mapmaker and live her life with her best friend.

"Raina can't you stop the General from making me come to the little palace", asked a jittery Alina. 

As Alina turned towards Raina, she couldn't help but control the snicker that escaped her. Raina was curled up fast asleep with a little blanket covering her. 

Even Feydor laughed as he shook his head telling Alina, "She tends to fall asleep whenever she's riding the carriage which is why General Kirigan likes to keep blankets around."

Alina looks away from Raina while furrowing her eyebrows while asking Feydor, "Are the General and Raina together?"

Feydor clicked his tongue on the roof of his mouth while shaking his head, "Unfortunately that is not my place to tell you".

Alina slowly nodded her head but before she could respond, she was interrupted by the carriage coming to a stop and the guards' alarmed shout. "The road is blocked! Beware!".

As soon as Raina heard the shouts, she quickly got up from her sleeping position and took her oboyudoostryy nozh hidden underneath her kefta. 

Feydor and Ivan got out along with the other soldiers and guards trying to find out what had happened.

Arrows and weapons started to fly from both sides and Raina turned towards Alina who looked petrified and had no clue as to what was happening. "Stay here and don't leave".

As Raina tried to leave the carriage, an arrow hit close to her head, merely a few places away. Raina let out a breath as she picked the arrow up but before she could move away, Alina had caught her arm. "Please don't leave".

"I have to but you should stay in the carriage. Do not worry about me, our main priority is making sure you're safe". The rest of Raina's words faded away as she ran towards the fight breaking out.

Crawling behind a bush, Raina glanced towards the Drüskelle who was preparing to strike his weapon towards a helpless Ravkan soldier; she closed her eyes for a second before opening them.

Beneath her eyes, a dark storm swirling around and soon a similar dark cloud formed above the Drüskelle's head. The thundering and lighting were more prominent as Raina grew angrier by the second. When the Fjerdan soldier looked up, the weapon slipped out of his hand and he fell on his knees; eyes still trained above. All he could do was look up at the mini storm; as if it was enchanting him.

Soon enough the Drüskelle dropped flat face

Dead.

Raina breathed in before running towards the injured soldier who she quickly recognized as Ramon; a squaller. Placing her hand on his forehead, the pain slowly entered her body as it left his. "You're okay. You're okay." Raina repeated the phrase to the soldier as if assuring him...and herself.

"Madam Raina", Ramon stuttered as he felt the aftershock of what had just happened.

"Shush now, don't talk, you're going to hurt yourself more." But Ramon hit her hand continuously that was still placed on his forehead and pointed to something behind Raina.

Raina glared at him, "Ow stop hitting me Ramon, saints what is it". Raina's words got caught in her throat as she looked behind her and onto what Ramon was pointing at.

A Fjerdan soldier was dragging Alina away.

"Fuck," Raina mumbled.

Find Alina. Find Alina. Find Alina.

Those words were echoing in Raina's head as she ran across the road trying to look for Alina and the Fjerdan who took her.

As Raina was running she didn't notice the Fjerdan soldier slowly walking behind her with one hand on his ax and the other hand on Alina's mouth to stop her from screaming.

Raina stopped, she put her hands on her eyes while mumbling to herself. "Where are you, Alina. Shit. Where is she? What happened to her. UGH''. Raina threw her head back and groaned in frustration until a sound was heard behind her. The rustling of footsteps on the fallen leaves and branches.

Raina slowly turned around with one hand holding a tight grip over her knife. The sight she saw made her feel two things; relieved that she finally found Alina but the other nervous as to what the Fjerdan that was holding her would do.

Raina didn't hesitate to launch her knife at the Fjerdan's hand which was covering Alina's mouth. "Witch!", screamed the soldier.

Alina gasped as she tried to get away from the man but the Fjerdan soldier grabbed a fistful of her hair causing Alina to let out a piercing scream as her hand went to her head. 

Raina tackled the man down away from Alina as they wrestled on the hard ground which ended up her being straddled by the Fjerdan soldier who had his ax raised, ready to kill her.

Raina did not back down. Not after fighting for this long. She envisioned a connection between her and the soldier and as she was about to touch him with her static hands, a black shadow cut through the Fjerdan's waistline, splattering blood across Raina's face. The top half of his body fell against Raina's feet as she laid on the ground.

All Alina could do was stare at the woman who saved her life in shock.

General Kirigan walked towards Raina as she stood up and kicked the Fjerdan's upper half away with a look of disgust. As Raina looked up, a hand came and cupped her cheek and she saw the General wiping off the blood.

Raina grinned and tilted her hair sideways as she cockily asked, "So how was my fight?"

General Kirigan let out a happy laugh before pulling her onto him in a tight hug and whispering to her, "You could have gotten hurt".

Raina shrugged as her fingers glided towards his back hair, "Well, I had to protect Alina". He let out a content sigh before unraveling himself and turning to Alina who was gingerly standing on the side and asking her if she was fine.

Alina didn't answer but let her eyes travel across Raina who was wincing as she tried to walk properly. The General followed her eyesight before turning back to Alina as if he wanted to ask why she was looking at Raina like that but decided against it.

"Did you get hurt?" Raina asked as she turned her attention to Alina and Aleksander's conversation. Alina snapped out of her trance before slowly shaking her head no; obviously traumatized.

"Uh, how will we get there?" Alina stuttered. General Kirigan looked at her before looking ahead towards the two horses. Raina gasps as she claps her hands together, ready to go towards her horse, Atlas.

"But you will be riding with me Raina'' General Kirigan interrupted Raina's happy thoughts causing her to freeze before looking at him with a murderous glare that could certainly scare anyone who was to cross paths with her; at least that's what Alina thought. 

Although the General looked calm as he motioned Raina with his hand towards his horse while Alina tumbled behind them.

"There is no way I am sitting here with you" Raina pointed out as they came to a stop in front of the horses. 

"I will ride with Alina'', as soon as Raina stated that with a victorious smirk, Alina looked towards her with a small smile breaking out which General Kirigan caught.

He chuckled as shook his head, bending down so his lips were brushing Raina's ears sending goosebumps in her arms. "Sit down on the horse or I will carry you on my lap instead".

Raina blushed wildly as she quickly went to the Darkling's horse.

 late but long update. ive had family drama and well you know how that goes. 

raina protecting alina which kirigans mad about. and raina not following his orders until well.
