Β  Β  Β Β  "Hi, Chief Swan! My name is Sandy and I was wondering if Bella was home?" She stood on a creaky but homey porch amid a torrential downpour.

Charlie Swan stood on the other side of a screen door, holding the front door to his home open. The Chief of Forks Police raised a brow at the short girl on the other side of his door.

She was an oddity because while he could easily believe her to be 17 she also looked as though she could be older than that. No older than her very early 20s', but he would not find it so far-fetched if someone told him she was 21.

Cassandra stood on the porch wearing the typical fashion for a teenager in Forks in 2005. Her jeans were no doubt that popular brand of Miss Me β€” bootcut hiding the very tops of chunky Converse. She wore a warm flannel with a bright yellow raincoat over it.

Charlie could tell that she was mixed β€” her hair was frizzing from the intense humidity that was brought on by the rain. Only half of it was pulled back by a rather colorful scrunchie.

Charlie thought it was strange for her to be wearing a scrunchie seeing as they had not been popular since he was a teenager, back in the 80s'.

He did not question it though seeing as Bella had been in a depressed catatonic state since mid-September. It was now the very beginning of January, ten days after the New Year.

Bella had lost an unhealthy amount of weight and was barely sleeping β€” she barely did anything other than sit in front of her window. While her grades and work did not suffer, she was surely suffering on the inside β€” more than Charlie knew or would ever understand.

Charlie would never understand because a mate had never abandoned Charlie.

The rare times Bella even spoke were simple one-worded answers.

Charlie would do anything to pull his daughter out of this funk, but he was not sure how. Bella had all but shut down on herself. There was no passion left in her, and any friends that she once had could barely be called her friends any longer.

The most emotion he managed to get out of her was when he threatened to send her to live with her mom in Jacksonville. Bella was very adamant about NOT doing that.

And every time that Charlie tried to get to the source of her problems, Bella deflected and all but ran off. He talked about getting her to go see a shrink, but he was met with much the same results.

Bella had promised she would start talking with Jacob and other school friends, but that was almost a week ago and he had seen no such people.

Well, until now that was. Or at least, he figured this girl must be from school: why else would a random girl be on his front porch asking about his catatonic daughter?

"Bella? As in my Bells? Bella Swan?" Charlie raised a brow in disbelief.

His suspicions were confirmed when she gave him possibly the happiest smile he had ever seen. "Oh yes! We met in English earlier β€” she's my first friend here! We're going to study together and go get dinner later!" She chirped, almost every single word that fell from her lips was a lie.

But Charlie believed it, even though he had a hard time. He was shocked that Bella had done good on her promise and made an effort, let alone with a girl who appeared to have about 100x more energy than his daughter and was 1000x happier than she.

This girl did not remind Charlie of the Cullens in the least. While she was arguably as beautiful as they had been, it was in a much different way. She was the clear opposite of the Cullens as well as the opposite of Bella.

She exuded happiness.

Her skin, naturally dark with her heritage, was baked even darker as though she had spent many days in the sun garnishing the perfect tan. Her features were gorgeous, almost cutesy with the freckles that dotted every inch of her face and a small upturned button nose.

Bella was not that tall of a person, but this girl was short. She was wearing chunky Converse that brought her height up a few inches. Because of this, she was almost Bella's height, but Charlie knew if the girl took those shoes off she'd be no taller than 5'1.

Bella was an unhealthy skinny at the moment, and while this girl was petite, she was healthy. As though she lived an active lifestyle that blessed her with lean muscle.

Thunder roared from the heavens and Charlie snapped out of his daze. He realized then he had been staring at the girl for longer than what was deemed socially acceptable: it must have seemed so creepy to a high-school girl.

With guilt hanging from his shoulders, Charlie quickly popped the screen door open and motioned for the girl to get inside the warm household and away from the cold Forks' rain.

Cassandra herself was unfazed by his staring β€” she was only thankful that he let her in the house. Hopefully, when Bella saw her, the girl would not freak out about some stranger claiming to have known her.

Sandy was pretty sure the Cullens had told Bella about her before they ditched her, and she only hoped the girl recognized her due to this.

Why exactly had Sandy randomly moved to Forks after the Cullens left? Well, the reasoning for that started a few years prior.

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

It was 2003 when Sandy had learned her friends Rosalie, Alice, and the rest of their family had moved to Forks, Washington.

In the few years that Sandy had been living in Rio de Janeiro, she had been living a fun life. During the day, she would be hard at work studying the intricacies of ballet. And during the night: she could be found partying on the beach or racing fast cars through the streets.

Rich men easily gave up their keys with as little as a smile and bat of her lashes.

Though Sandy was not particularly close to anyone, she had chosen to keep people at an arm's distance here. She knew some well enough to go out with them at night or have a random lunch one day β€” but they were distant enough that they barely even knew each other's last names.

The days she was not in the ballet studio, she spent on the beach either relaxing on the sand or diving into the water. She had long since decided her destination after she had learned everything she could about ballet would be Australia.

There she would learn how to surf. And only after she was an advanced surfer would she go to London where she would audition to be an on-stage ballet performer.

Her goal was to play the White Swan in Swan Lake.

And after that who knows what she would do next! The world was an ever-changing place full of opportunity, it was impossible to be bored!

She was relaxing on the beach one day in sunny June β€” the girl taking a rare day off from ballet training. Alice had called her cellphone, and the girl excitedly answered as it had been a few months since she last spoke to either of her friends and their family.

She had to plan a trip to see them.

However, she was still cautious about meeting Edward. He would find out immediately that she hiding from the Volturi, especially now as it was far more frequent that she dreamwalked herself to Volterra.

It used to happen once in a blue moon, but over the past few years, it happened at least once a month. She now knew each of her mates more than she wanted to.

"Oh, Alice! How are you β€” we haven't spoken in forever!" Sandy had said upon answering the phone.

Alice had answered back just as eagerly, both of them beginning to catch up on the past few months. As much as Cassandra wanted to mention her dreamwalking, she withheld this information.

Alice then expressed her excitement about where they were moving to.

Forks, Washington was apparently all the rave β€” a town the Cullens lived in during the 30s' before moving on. Alice and her husband had not been in the coven during that time, so they were both excited to be with the family this time as they came back.

The Cullen's had different settlements and homes all around the U.S. and the United Kingdom that they stayed at during different years and decades. Their goal was to stay in Forks for around seven years before they moved to Pittsburgh.

However, what Alice was excited about was Edward's mate. The little vampire had a vision of Edward meeting some human girl who would turn out to be his mate. She did not have many details, and she had only briefly seen the girl in her vision, but the meaning was clear enough.

She had successfully hidden this from Edward by not thinking about this vision and instead random thoughts when he was around. Cassandra was impressed by this as she did not think anyone capable of simply not thinking about something.

But Alice had been around her brother for a long enough time to learn how to do this.

The two girls chatted excitedly after that for a few more hours before they hung up as Alice had to get going.

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

It was 2005 when Edward and Bella finally met, Alice called squealing like a lunatic when this finally happened.

The Cullens had been in Forks for about two years at that point, and like usual, Sandy's phone calls with them were far and few between.

Alice explained Bella in great detail β€” so did Rosalie, but it was mostly the blonde complaining about her. Rosalie did not like Bella for petty reasons that had Cassandra raising her brow as she listened, but the biggest reason she did not like Bella was out of spite and jealousy.

Rosalie wanted nothing more than to be human, and she felt like Bella had it all and was ungrateful because of it.

Sandy had gently tried to explain that while she understood her perspective, not everyone wanted the same things out of life. She tried to convince Rosalie to see it from Bella's side, but Rosalie refused and promptly changed the conversation to how she felt about the latest fashions.

Rosalie claimed while it was certainly not her favorite, it was still better than the 80s. They got into a stupid but fun argument over this as Sandy absolutely loved the 80s' fashion. Rosalie had laughed and said that Sandy loved every era of fashion β€” which was not necessarily a lie.

Throughout the next few months, Sandy kept in contact with Rosalie and Alice more frequently than usual. Sandy would never say this to their faces, but she wanted to ensure that Bella was safe and no slip-ups had occurred.

It was not that she did not trust the Cullens, but for a human and vampire to be together was extremely dangerous. Not only that, but accidents happenedβ€”it could be as small as the slightest paper cut and a skipped meal from one of them and Bella could end up dead.

Cassandra's brother, Thespian, the half-human half-vampire was the only instance she knew of where a vampire-human coupling was successful.

But even then, his mother died in childbirth and his father had long since abandoned them. Probably in fear of the Volturi catching wind of this and coming after him.

To her surprise, it was Bella who uncovered the truth about the Cullens herself.

And from there, the weekly updates she got was that Bella was learning more about the supernatural world every day. The Cullens had even told Bella about Sandy with the fae's blessing, and of course, Bella was shocked to learn that faeries existed.

Isabella Swan did not know much about Sandy, only that she was a good friend of Alice and Rosalie respectively, and that she was a fae.

To Sandy's knowledge, the Cullens did not delve into her past other than that Rose and Alice had met her whilst she was singing on Broadway in New York City during the 90s. Also, that she was now currently studying ballet in Brazil.

Sandy had almost flown out to help them when the James situation occurred. Thankfully, the Cullens were more than capable of handling it themselvesβ€”destroying James to ensure he never came after Bella again.

But still, Bella had almost died.

Sandy was hesitant about Victoria after she learned that the woman had disappeared. They all knew that Victoria was James' mate, and there was no doubt that she would do anything to avenge her mate's death.

The Cullens believed Victoria would be after Edward, but Sandy had a sinking feeling that the vampire may just hunt down innocent Bella to get even.

She voiced her concerns to the Cullens, but Carlisle himself had been the one to reassure her that they had the situation under control and they were constantly watching out for her.

For a few months after the James situation, everything seemed alright and good.

BUT THEN Alice randomly GHOSTED her from September until the middle of December!

Like what the actual ever-living fuck?

Once upon a time, not having contact with the Cullens for this amount of time would have been typical. However, since Bella had become involved with them, it became normal for Sandy to speak with them once a week to reassure herself that Bella was still alive and well.

And even then, they had never ghosted her, never dodged her calls, texts, and letters!

Maybe it was her natural protective instinct over humans but she wanted to make sure Bella was okay. Therefore, Sandy could not stop herself from constantly bothering the Cullens about her wellbeing.

The only one who was ever irritated by this was Rosalie as she did not like Bella and that had put the slightest bit of strain on their friendship.

Sandy was irritated by this sudden no-contact and planned to finally fly out to Washington to see what was going on for herself. It looked like she was finally going to visit the Cullen's after over a decade of friendship.

Sandy had quite literally been in the middle of packing her suitcase with the few warm clothes she had when Alice suddenly called. She knew that as she was used to the warm Rio beach, she would be absolutely freezing when she arrived in Washington.

Especially since it was the beginning of winter.

She was scrambling around her apartment looking for the one raincoat she owned when her phone started to ring.

With furrowed brows, she pulled her phone from her pocket, eyes widening at the caller ID.

"What the fuck, Alice!" She answered the phone immediately. "Why have you been ignoring me? Is everything okay? Are you all okay? Is Bella okay?" She started firing questions at the speed of light, her voice getting faster and higher-pitched with every syllable. "I thought you all were dead!"

And she didβ€”Sandy expected the worst seeing as no contact had been made for months.

"Sandy! Calm down!" Alice yelped as though able to sense the fae's erratic heartbeat. "Deep breaths, don't pass out!"

Sandy had not realized how fast she was breathing and heeded Alice's advice, taking deep dramatic breaths and forcing herself to relax. She had also been pacing the length of her small living so fast that she was nearly levitating.

"We're good, we moved away from Forks! We're in Ithaca now!" Alice said happily but it was obvious she was hiding something.

Cassandra narrowed her eyes. "New York? You all relocated so soon after moving? Why? Are Bella and Edward doing long distance then?"

Alice laughed nervously. "Uhm, not exactly, there was a bit of an incident a few weeks ago..." and that's how Sandy learned that Alice's husband, Jasper (whose name sounded very familiar) had lost control and tried to attack Bella when she cut her finger.

Edward then went off the deep end in fear for Bella's safety and hate for himself, forced the Cullens to move away, and was actually living by himself holed up in Rio de Janeiro a few miles away from Sandy. Also, he did not want anyone in contact with Cassandra for fear of the fae doing something brash.

Sandy's face was absolutely blank by the end of it.

She was perhaps the most pissed off about the fact that Edward was only a few miles away and did not make himself known to her in the slightest. Sandy only hoped that they were a far enough distance apart that he had not been reading her mind the whole time.

They had never met in person: the only Cullen's Sandy had met face-to-face remained as Rosalie and Alice. Even after having spoken with the likes of Carlisle and the others over the phone a handful of timesβ€”she had no faces to put to their names.

She had never even spoken with Edward over the phone, he was never interested.

"Alice! What the hell? What about Victoria? Bella could still be in danger and you all abandoned her?! Edward is her mateβ€”he can't just leave like that! She's probably a mess!" Sandy was ranting. "And who is he to say I'll do something brash?!"

Alice sighed. "I know, I know, but Edward made it very clear he wanted Bella to have nothing to do with the supernatural world. Of course, I know that he is just delaying the inevitable... but he somehow managed to get Carlisle on his side and Carlisle forced the rest of us away from Forks too..."

"What? First of all, that is NOT Edward's choice to make. Second, that doesn't even make sense at all. Why would Carlisle go along with that? That's the most stupid plan in the world! Put him on the phone, please!" Sandy raged toward the end.

"Uhm, he's actually at work right now, so is Esme... and Rose and Emmett are on an extended trip to Paris. It's just me and Jazz home right now, but Jasper is sulking in the corner because of how bad he feels... has been for a few weeks..."

"This is ridiculous! Okay, since you all have abandoned Bellaβ€”I think I'll make a premature move... Australia will need to wait, Forks sounds like quite a nice place..."

Forks, in fact, did NOT sound like a nice place. Sandy was not a fan of small rainy towns, but she sensed that this human needed help. And Sandy would not stand by while she was in need, especially seeing as the mate to the vampire guy that Edward killed was still on the loose!

Sandy had been living in Rio for almost eight years at this pointβ€”it was soon getting to the time where she would need move on from the sunny beach country anyway.

"I knew you'd say that!" Alice chirped. "I already booked a flight for you, you leave in two weeks... and I bought you a house!"

Cassandra's head snapped up from her crouched position in a broom closet where she was already pulling out moving boxes. The plans had changed immensely, she was no longer just visiting Forks β€” she was moving there.

And she had two weeks to get everything in Rio de Janeiro sorted.

"What theβ€”you bought me a house?" Sandy asked incredulously. "I am more than capable of renting an apartment, Alice," she chuckled at the end, bumping the closet door closed with her hip as she hurriedly moved the boxes just in front of the couch.

Plus, apartment leases were a lot easier to get out of than payments for a house. Especially in the instance she needed to make a quick getaway. Like now.

"Don't worryβ€”it's in Carlisle's name... and it's entirely paid off..." Alice waved it off, immediately throwing her rich coven leader/father under the ringer for it.

Carlisle did not even know she bought a house nor signed it in his name.

"Well, thanks," Sandy laughed, while she was grateful, she also knew the Cullens were loaded, and making such a purchase probably did not even put so much as a scratch in their endless wealth.

Not when Carlisle was a world-renowned surgeon and Alice could see into the future to win the lottery and play the stock market successfully.

"I figured you'd want something private but not as isolated as our home!"

"You mean the mansion in the woods you all live in?" Sandy corrected as she inspected a lamp from on her knees.

She was debating if she wanted to bring it with her. She'd bought it in '81. With a shrug, she put the old lamp with cowprint in a box.

"A home is a homeβ€”no matter how big or small!" Alice defended their gargantuan house. "Besides, there's like seven of us living together, and none of us sleep!"

"What do you guys even do when you don't sleep?" Sandy raised a brow before thinking better of her question. "On second thought, don't answer that, so where is this mysterious house located? And how big is it? Please tell me you didn't get me a big house when it's just going to be me living in it..." she begged.

Maybe it was a faerie thing, but Sandy had always preferred small and cozy living spaces. Her condo in New York was the biggest space she had ever lived in, and even then it was not all that large.

"I know you well enough to not do that, even if I did want to spoil you and put you in a bigger house... anyway, I got you a tiny home! It's just off the road in the forest β€” on the border of Forks and La Push!"

"Isn't La Push the reservation of wolf shifters that don't like you guys?" Sandy deadpanned.

"Yes! But they'll like you!" Alice said, her voice sure.

"You've seen this?" Sandy questioned unsure.

"Well no... I'm pretty sure I can't see around the shifters future, BUT trust me, I have a feeling you are going to get along famously. The fae and the shifters: both human-protecting nature-lovers!" Alice joked lightly at the end.

Sandy rolled her eyes at that.

"That doesn't mean we're guaranteed to get along, Alice..." Sandy said, but there was a smile in her voice.

She had a feeling she would get along with the shifters fine. At least, while the Cullens were away and they had no reason to dislike her.

"Pish poshβ€”whatever, you know I'm right! Anyway, I don't want to spoil too much on the home, but it's 600 square feet and it's mostly greens and pinks!"

"You know me so well," Cassandra sighed dreamily, "Fine I forgive you! But you better talk some sense into your brother soon! He's only hurting himself and Bella with this stupid plan of his!"

"You're telling me, but he barely takes our calls. I'll do my best though!"

"Please do, Aliceβ€”anyway, I have a lot of packing to start so I'll call you later, and you better answer! No more ignoring me!"

Alice agreed and apologized once again before the two hung up and Cassandra was swinging about her apartment packing. She made mental notes about everything she had to do and any loose ends she had to tie up before she moved in two weeks.

β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”β€”

Two weeks later, she was shivering while standing outside a pink front door.

Sandy was pleasantly surprised when she saw her homeβ€”a cute woodsy tiny house with a light pink door. The front door was inscribed with swirling designs. The home was not in the middle of the forest, but it was on the cusp of it.

A dirt trail led off the main road of Forks and just before the road turned into the interstate, and for almost a mile led into the forest until one hit this house. A mailbox sat pleasantly at the beginning of the dirt roadβ€”the word "Rose" painted onto the side of it.

It made Sandy smile when she saw her last name on her mailbox. Well, technically it was Carlisle's since the house was in his name, but it was a gift for her nonetheless.

She wondered if Carlisle even knew about this 'little' thing Alice had done, but she highly doubted it seeing as Alice made sure to call and answer only when he was away.

Sandy also did not realize that Alice bought her a vehicleβ€”she was shocked to find a truck was awaiting her arrival.

To say she was astonished when a worker flagged her down to hand her keys and take her to her truck was the understatement of the year.

While Sandy preferred smaller carsβ€”Forks was a truck town. With all the rain and snow the small town acquired yearly, a four-wheel drive Ford was far safer to drive than the small Honda she had planned to buy.

Cassandra raised a brow as she looked under the front mat, finding a silver key.

Alice was not scared of a break-in seeing as this was Forks and this house was quite literally in the middle of nowhere.

The fae jumped as thunder crackled through the sky signaling that cold January rain and sleet was soon to fall. Quickly unlocking the door and bumping it open, she wasted no time in turning around and taking as many suitcases and boxes from the truck as she could.

She did not pack heavy, the woman had chosen to sell as many things as she could and she would just buy new what she needed in Forks.

The car locked as she rushed into her home, closing the door just as the skies opened up and cried to the world below.

Her teeth chattered but her eyes gleamed excitedly as she took in the place around her.

Forks may have not been her next intended destination, but she was excited nonetheless. Moving somewhere new was always fun, especially now that she had a mission to accomplish.

Fix Bella Swan: the human who was no doubt suffering from her mate abandoning her!

Her home was warm, comforting, and incredibly homey. The front door led immediately into a small living room area with a two-seating blue couch.

The couch was squashy and the wooden floorboards were covered by a large rug. A small television was placed across from it β€” the kitchen in the area next door. Like everything, it was small but more than large enough for Sandy.

Especially seeing as she was the only person living there. There was a counter that also served as the eating space on the other side of the kitchen.

She walked through the home, wandering through the miniature hallway and coming upon a bathroom. There were stairs on the other side that led to a loft where a comfy bed was set up, a closet on the other side of it.

Only two people could realistically live in this home comfortably, and even then it would still be small, but Sandy loved it more than words can describe. Especially seeing as it was made of light pinks and swirling greens.

Locking the front door, Sandy immediately set to work unpacking her few suitcases and boxes.

Sandy had enrolled herself in Forks High School β€” the girl was very hesitant but ultimately decided it was for the best. Sandy had stopped aging at the physical age of 23, but she could pass as eighteen, so she would be enrolling as an older Senior. She did it to stay close to Bella.

It helped to have a friend in school rather than just outside of it.

She was also curious seeing as she had only ever attended high school once and that was in the late sixties. She hated that experience, to say the least.

Although, she still had three days before she was scheduled to start. The fae would enjoy her last few days before she was forced to become a part of the American schooling system. It was only for a few months thoughβ€”it was January and graduation was in May.

It did not take the quickly moving fae long before she was entirely unpacked, a fire roaring in the fireplace.

Checking the time, Sandy realized that it was getting later in the day and she should visit the Swan girl before it was too late. With that in mind, she changed her outfit to something warmer and ready for the pouring rain outside.

While she would love nothing more than to take a hot bath amid this cold downpour, she was anxious to get to Bella. It was why she was zipping up a bright yellow raincoat over a warm flannel.

Miss Me jeans were very popular in America at the moment, and Sandy was delightfully surprised to see a few pairs in her closet. Alice had obviously done a bit of shopping for her, handpicking different warmer garments that the fae would need for the Forks weather.

She did not go as crazy as she usually would recognizing that there was only so much space in a tiny house closet.

Sandy chose to wear a bootcut pair of them, topping it off with Converse that had a platform.

She was a proud 5'1, but she liked to be taller most of the time. In the days that she did not feel like wearing heels, platform shoes were a good option. Even if they were not necessarily in style at this moment in time.

She shoved her flip phone, wallet, and keys in her pockets before pulling the hood over her frizzy hair. With that, Sandy was out the door and locking it behind her before racing through the rain to her new truck.

The Ford still smelled of a new car, and the fae hummed as she took in this scent.

Almost detrimentally, she was zooming away from her new house and down the bumpy dirt road. She had always been a bit of a brash driver β€” not the best but good enough. Especially in a truck of this size, Sandy's petite frame driving an F-150 was almost comical.

The pedal was to the metal as the truck went flying down the road in the rain, the antenna flaying in the wind.

The girl was barely able to see out of the windshield with how hard the rain was hitting and yet she did not let up on the speed in the slightest.

She only sang along to Britney Spears on the radio.

The dense trees and extreme green were incredibly different from the sandy beaches and warmth of Rio de Janeiro. The thought of that place being Edward Cullen's temporary home made Sandy scoff.

Unlike constantly cloudy Forks, the vampire could only go out during the night in Rio de Janeiro. But Sandy suspected that Edward was not leaving his living space at all other than to hunt when he needed to.

She wondered what he was hunting seeing as Rio de Janeiro did not offer the best wildlife options. Sandy cringed thinking he might have turned to a human blood diet, but then again, there had not been a recent uptake in murders or missing people when she had left.

Before Sandy knew it, she was pulling up to a humble white home.

The Swan residence was not located in the middle of nowhere, but the neighbors were certainly spread out and the backyard consisted of an entrance into the dense forest of the Olympic Peninsula.

While their home was not a tiny house β€” it was on the smaller side.

Two-story with the slightest bit of overgrown shrubs and greenery in their front yard. No garage.

It was quite lovely.

Forks reminded Cassandra of her roots, of the epic green highlands in Scotland from whence she came. In this place, she felt more connected to nature than she had in years β€” probably because she was surrounded by it.

Sandy sat in her car for a few more minutes, basking in the warmth and planning how she was going to do this.

At last, she decided to just waltz up to their front door, guns blazing with a thousand lies on her tongue.

Exiting the Ford, Sandy stood on the sidebar before hopping down and slamming the door shut.

Locking the door behind her, she raced through the rain, beginning to shiver from the crisp cool air. However, she could feel her hair frizzing up from the humidity that the rain caused. The rain could barely even be called rain as it was edging toward sleet which would no doubt would turn to snow later that night.

The soft grass and moss caved beneath her feet as she went, the girl grateful to take cover from the heavy rain beneath the porch. She rang the doorbell a few eager times before bringing her hands to her mouth to warm them.

Cassandra did not notice Bella Swan moving to her bedroom window to overlook the front yard down below. The depressed girl schooled her features into one of confusion as she saw the large unfamiliar truck parked in her yard β€” but as Sandy was on the porch, neither could see each other.

Sandy was waiting no longer than a minute before Chief Swan opened the main door to his home, looking at her from the other side of his screen door with bewilderment.

Neither he nor his daughter (to his knowledge) were expecting visitors today.

Sandy raised her hand in a friendly wave, smiling a 100-watt smile to the Forks Chief of Police.

"Hi, Chief Swan! My name is Sandy and I was wondering if Bella was home?"
