LATER in the day, the vk's were all sitting at their lunch table, none of them having talked to anybody outside of their group all day since the incident. their table was inconveniently right in front of where the princesses and chad sat, but they didn't dare say a word to each other. it was silent until ben decided to come up to them.

"hey, guys. how is everyone, yeah?" the vk's stayed silent. "hey, listen. forget about it. all right, it was nothing. forget about it. forget about it, let it go. tomorrow, after the coronation, i promise everything will be okay." evie just looks at him. "i have to go." he whispers to mal. "i'll see you guys later." he smiles awkwardly before walking away. eloise walks up to them.

"evie, i wanna talk about earlier today-" she's cut off by chad.

"ellie!" he cuts in, raising his eyebrows at his childhood best friend.

"it's my fault, eloise. i'm so sorry." evie whispers.

"eloise!" chad interrupts again, not letting eloise get a word in to evie.

"ellie..." evie whispers.

"sorry. i can't." the blonde responds, going to sit back down next to chad.

"okay..." evie mutters to herself, pushing her food away due to a lost appetite. audrey and jane walk up. here comes trouble.

"how long does she think that's gonna last?" audrey chuckles and jane laughs too. "mal's just the bad girl infatuation."

"yeah. i mean, he's never gonna make a villain a queen." jane leans by mal's ear, her words laced with rudeness before the girls laugh. eloise had never seen jane this mean. she was guessing it was audrey's doing. mal flips through her spell book once they can't see her.

"beware, foreswear, undo jane's hair." she says, and jane screams as her hair turns back into a bob. everyone laughs at her, even audrey. eloise can't help but giggle slightly. usually she'd feel bad, but jane's rudeness helped make it justified. lonnie grasps at her hair, exhaling in relief when she realizes it's still long. chad mutters an 'ew!' and evie stands up from her seat, along with all the others. "there's a lot more where that came from." mal warns.

"excuse me, who do you think you are?!" audrey spits out.

"do i look like i'm kidding?" she replies and audrey's confident smile falters. mal begins to vigorously flip through her spell book, which makes everyone run away. mal smiles and turns back around to face evie. "i'm really looking forward to tomorrow." she snaps her spell book shut. "let's grab that wand and blow this popsicle stand."
