ACT I ▬▬▬▬ the leech lover

IT HAD BEEN TWO WEEKS SINCE THR PACK HAD SEEN HAILEY. As soon as Jake finished up her truck, Jessica whisked away on a 'work trip' and left Hailey in charge of the diner.

The girl had been working tirelessly, morning to night just to keep the place running smoothly — and the boys were still searching for Victoria.

Paul hadn't kept his promise to drop her to work, and collect her from late shifts — instead forcing Jared or Kim to collect the girl. He continued to avoid her question too, which only made her all the more curious.

After much consideration, she had decided to keep the diner closed for the day. She was exhausted and needed the break, so did the other employees who graciously thanked the girl.

Her phone chimed as she sat on the porch, Kim texted her.

'Heading to Emily's, want me to pick you up?'

Kim had been introduced to the pack a couple days after Jared had mentioned her and Hailey absolutely adored the girl, they just clicked. He had bit the bullet and asked her to be his girlfriend which also meant she had been let in on the secrets and pack gossip.

Replying quickly, Hailey headed inside to grab her keys and some cash she owed Jake. Kim had arrived fairly quickly in the small red car that she prided herself in owning.

It was ugly, but it was Kim's.

Kim leant over and opened the passenger side door,and Hailey poked her head in looking around the front seat. "What— what are you doing?" Kim asked with a raised eyebrow.

Hailey looked up from the seat, "you and Jared haven't fucked in the front seat since I last sat in it have you?" The girl quizzed. Kim's face became red as she shook her head. "No, we haven't even..." she trailed off.

Hailey squinted her eyes before sliding into the car. "I know, I would've found out straight away" Hailey nodded, pulling her foot up to her chest as Kim began to drive.

Kim shrugged, "yeah you're right." She trialed off, keeping her eyes on the road. "So have you spoke to Paul?" She asked with a wary tone.

Hailey shook her head, "no the dick is avoiding me" she grumbled, letting her head fall against the seat. "Which I don't get, he was like obsessed with me and following me around and shit and now he doesn't want to see me!?" She ranted, her hands gasping her bag to retrieve her phone as it went off.

'Alaska is good. Be home soon.'

"Who is it?" Kim asked, glancing over at the girl.

"Aunt Jess, she's in Alaska for some work thing, even though she literally owns a diner ten minutes from our house?" Hailey spoke confused, regret eyebrows furrowing as she look at the message.

Kim shrugged, "maybe she's expanding, putting a diner in Alaska" She reasoned.

Hailey shook her head, "I doubt it, the nearest town from Denali is Healy, which is eleven miles away" the girl explained, as the car came to a stop in Emily's front yard.

The two girls got out from the car as they walked into the house. "Hey didn't the cullens move to Denali?" Kim questioned as she pulled open the screen door.

Haileys eyebrows furrowed, "where'd you hear that?" She asked.

"Jessica Stanley" Kim shrugged before walking over to Jared and kissing his cheek.

Embry snapped his head to Hailey, "why are you talking about the leaches?" The boy asked.

Hailey shook her head and pulled a chair to sit down in. "What happened to 'hey Hailey! Long time no see, how are you?' Embry?" She huffed.

Embry smiled, "hey Hailey! Long time no see, how are you? Now why were you talking about the cullens"

Hailey scoffed, "Aunt Jess is on a business trip to Denali and Kim mentioned they moved there" she shrugged, grabbing one of Emily's muffins.

Sam quirked his eyebrow up, "Denali? That's just mountains" the man stated, his arm that was once around Emily coming to rest on the back of Haileys chair.

"Listen, it's weird — I know that, but she's a grown woman. I can't stop her" Hailey spoke, her hands coming up in feign defence. For the first time her eyes went around the room, "where's Paul and Jake?" She asked.

"Paul's on his way over from his dad's, we're going to get Jake soon." Sam told the girl.

"Who's this?" Emily asked, Hailey turned around the corner. She was out back, helping with the flowers — a habit she'd picked up from Jessica. The woman was very serious about her flowers.

"Bella swan, who else" Jared reported, slumping in the chair.

Emily hummed, looking her up and down, "so you're the vampire girl?"

Bella nodded awkwardly "and you're the wolf girl" she gulped, her eyes doing anything to avoid the large scars that protruded against her skin.

"Guess so, well I'm engaged to one" she laughed, placing a large tray of muffins on the table, which Jared and Embry immediately grabbed earning a shove from the woman. "Save some for your brothers. And ladies first" she turned to Bella with a smile, "muffin?"

Bella nodded awkwardly, cautiously grabbing one as she kept an eye on the door for Jacob.

"Leave it to Jacob to find a way around Sam's gag order" the woman laughed, shaking her head.

Bella shook her head, "He didn't say anything to me.." she stuttered slightly. Picking at the muffin.

Embry smirked, "that's a wolf thing, alphas orders must be obeyed whether we want them to or not" he informed the girl. "And check it out! We can hear each others thoughts."

"Embry." Hailey warned the boy, causing Bella's eyes to shoot over to the girl for the first time. The large scab on her cheek, intimidated Bella.

"Would you shut up!" Jared shoved the boy, "these are trade secrets! This chick runs with vampires!" He exclaimed.

"You can't really run with vampires" Bella mumbled, kicking the ground lightly. "Cause they're fast.." she chuckled slightly, a red tinging her cheeks.

"Oh she's got jokes?" Hailey spoke with a raised brow, pushing herself off the wall and coming to lean her hands on the back of a chair.

"Yeah well we're faster" Jared retorted,  with a smirk. "freaked out yet?" He asked.

"You're not the first monsters I've met" Bella smiled awkwardly, her choice of words earning a glare from the quilete girl.

"Jake's right, you're good with weird" Sam stated as he walked into the small house and straight over to Emily. He took the women into his arms and peppered sweet kisses all over her face, earning the woman to laugh slightly.

Boisterous laughs grabbed both Hailey and Bella's attention. Hailey noticed the large healing scar on Paul's shoulder, and a large gash against Jake's right knee.

"What the fuck did you two do?" She questioned, her hands folding across her chest.

"Bella slapped Paul" Jared butted in. Hailey immediately turned to glare at the place girl.

"And then Paul phased in front of her" Embry added on.

Hailey scoffed, "served her right."

Paul sat in the chair that Hailey stood behind and turned to Bella with a smirk. "Sorry" he apologised, but Hailey knew he didn't mean it.

Jake nodded towards Bella and the pair left fairly fast. Haileys hand collided against Paul's head, clipping his ear. His hand immediately came to his head as he yelped. "What was that for, woman?" He sputtered.

Her eyes bared a deathly glare. "Don't ignore me again." She stated with a sharp tone. The boys snickered in the background earning Paul to cower slightly.

A soft smile graced his face, "I'm sorry, won't happen again."

He meant it this time.

As you can tell they're very short chapters. I myself don't have a great attention span and ny chapters become sloppy the longer they get, so I'm choosing quality over quantity.

Also when should Hailey find out about the imprint?
