Season 1 Episode 6
Every Night Is Another Story

"Are you kidding me?" Brooke yelled as she barged into the bedroom that the Davis twins shared.

"What?" Lizzie asked as she looked up from her book,

"You and Nathan kissed and you didn't tell me? What kind of a sister are you?" Brooke exasperated although disbelief was shown in her eyes.

Lizzie slammed her book closed, with slight irritation, "I didn't tell you because one: it's none of your business and two: I'm trying to forget it even happened. How did you even find out?"

"Oh come on, I'm Brooke Davis. I know everything." The brunette bragged, her face morphing into a cheeky smile as she flipped her hair.

Lizzie gave her sister a look which made Brooke sigh, "Peyton called me last night and told me what happened."

Lizzie groaned loudly, "Oh god, how much does she hate me?"

"Quite a bit." Brooke said bluntly as she took a seat next to Lizzie on her bed, "But it's not going to stay that way, you know that right?"

Lizzie shook her head, her lip quivering slightly, "I don't know. If I was her, I wouldn't forgive me."

Brooke took her sisters hand in her own and gave it a slight squeeze, "Hey, this is all going to work out, I promise you."

"No it's not going to be alright." Lizzie cried, "Peyton is never going to forgive me."

"Oh sweetie. It's okay, you did the right thing. You pushed Nathan away as soon as he kissed you and you told her that it was a mistake and how much you regret it. She's going to forgive you eventually." Brooke soothed as she wrapped her arms around her little sister.

Lizzie pulled away from Brooke, "That's the thing Brooke. I don't think it was a mistake."

~~~~~~~~~~
Lizzie was talking with Kyle as they walked into the school grounds when someone called out her name, she turned around and groaned internally as she saw who was running towards her and Kyle.
"Hey, could I talk to you for a sec?" Nathan asked, looking solely at Lizzie.
"Uh, I'll talk to you later Liz." Kyle said before quickly walking off sensing the tension between the two,
Lizzie looked up at Nathan, "What do you want?"
She didn't mean to be so cold towards the Scott boy, but she couldn't deal with him right now, especially with her newfound feelings for him. She and Peyton still hadn't talked since their fight a couple days ago so talking to Nathan probably wasn't the best thing to do right now.
"I just wanted to let you know that I got my English test back this morning." Nathan told her, holding up the piece of paper that had a large colored eighty three on it,
Lizzie couldn't help the smile that overtook her face, "Nathan, that's so great! I knew you could do it, I'm really proud of you!"
Nathan grinned back, opening his arms, hoping to receive a hug from the girl who made it all possible,
Lizzie hesitated, she knew that she shouldn't even be talking to him (let alone hugging him) since Peyton was still pissed at her. But seeing how genuine his happiness was made her forget about everything and just focus on him.
"Yeah, of course." Lizzie muttered, slowly wrapping her arms around Nathan's neck and fell into his warm embrace. His muscular arms wrapped around her waist, making her feel safe and secure.
In that moment, all Lizzie could think about was Nathan. His eyes, his smile, the dimple on his left cheek, the way he looked at her.
Lizzie closed her eyes as she rested her head on his shoulder, neither of them cared that they were in the middle of the courtyard. All they cared about in that moment, was each other.
The brunette still hasn't figured out what exactly she felt towards Nathan Scott. All she knew was that her stomach fluttered every time she saw him and that he was constantly on her mind.
She inhaled his scent, cinnamon and peppermint with a hint of sandalwood. It's not a scent that you'd think someone like Nathan would possess but he did, and Lizzie knew that she would never get sick of it.
She felt safer in his arms than she ever had before. It was as if they were in a safety bubble, that nothing could hurt them as long as they stayed wrapped up in one another.
They slowly broke apart from one another, knowing that it couldn't last forever, (no matter how much they wanted it to.)
"You coming to the game?" Nathan asked, hoping that she'd say yes.
He hadn't been able to stop thinking about her since he kissed her. He wanted to see her every minute of every day. He didn't know exactly what he felt towards her, but he knew that he liked it and that he liked her. A lot.
"Uh, yeah I am." Lizzie responded, "Brooke says I need to go, some type of moral support for the cheerleaders or something."
Nathan chuckled slightly, before he became quiet, "Listen, Lizzie I-" Nathan started, before the bell rang interrupting his sentence.
Lizzie shifted uncomfortably, not knowing if she wanted to hear what Nathan was going to say or not.
"We should probably get to class." Lizzie decided on saying,
"Yeah, you're right." Nathan replied with a dejected look on his face as they parted ways.
~~~~~~~~~~

Lizzie sat in between Haley and Mouth as they watched the game with Mouth commentating, "From the sticks of Pickerington where the Pirates always suck and the livestock is nervous. I'm Mouth McFadden and sitting with me at tonight's game is Haley James and Lizzie Davis. Girls, how do you see tonight's matchup?"

Haley leaned towards the microphone, "I think I speak for both Lizzie and I when I say, we'd rather not be associated with your lunacy, Mouth."

On the other side of the court stood Brooke and Peyton as they cheered for the Ravens, "So, Lizzie told me about what happened between her and Nathan. How you holding up?"

Peyton sighed, "I don't know. I think I was actually hoping for a reason to break up with Nathan but that doesn't mean that I wanted to find out that he cheated on me with my best friend. Also, I think I was more mad at myself than I ever was at Lizzie. I just took it out on her."

"Well if it helps, Lizzie told me she pulled away as soon as she realized what was happening." Brooke said, shaking her pom poms.

Peyton looked at both Nathan and Lizzie, she could tell that something was going on between them, even if Lizzie denied it. She wasn't stupid, she could see that Nathan cared for the brunette.

"Do you know anything else about her and Nathan?" Peyton asked as she watched Nathan wave towards Lizzie to which she responded with a soft smile.

"Are you sure you wanna know what I think? You might not like it." Brooke warned,

"I'm sure, just tell me."

"Well, ever since Lizzie started tutoring Nathan, she's also been hanging out with some guy named Kyle and that girl over there." Brooke reported, pointing over to the girl sat next to Lizzie.

"That's Haley." Peyton stated,

"Right, so I think Nathan likes Lizzie and Lizzie likes him too. I also think that Kyle likes Haley since I've seen them hanging out too, but I think Haley likes Lucas and I know I like Lucas and I don't know who the hell you like anymore. This is all turning into one big love....square plus two. Whatever that is."

~~~~~~~~~~
Thirty minutes into the game and the Ravens were losing, badly. The Pirates were winning by twenty points. As the Pirates tried to score, Nathan jumped up and knocked the basketball out of the players hands.
"And that's a foul by Nathan Scott, which results in the Pirates receiving two free throws" Mouth commentated,
"Why don't you try putting your hands up defense, alright?" Nathan yelled, walking over to his brother.
"Why don't you try not getting beat?" The blonde argued,
"Why don't I just beat your ass?"
"Moron." Lucas exclaimed as the brunette walked away.
The Pirates player scored the first free throw and landed it into the basket, adding another point to the scoreboard.
"You gonna talk or you gonna play, Daddy's Boy?" Lucas shouted,
Nathan looked over at Lizzie, seeing how she smiled towards Lucas, "Lizzie's looking pretty fine tonight, right? Can't wait to get with that."
The Pirates scored the second free shot as they resumed the game,
Lucas jogged over to Brooke and Peyton, "Hey, so I saw Nathan in the shower. No wonder you broke up with him."
Nathan scowled as he threw the basketball towards the blonde, hitting him in the neck.
"Here we go again..." Lizzie grumbled,
Lucas looked back before he ran over as the two brothers lunged toward each other, tackling each other, knocking Brooke over in the process.
Haley and Mouth stood up immediately while Lizzie rushed over to make sure her sister was okay.
"Brooke, are you okay?" Lizzie asked, once the twoย  had been pulled apart.
Lizzie and Peyton both kneeled next to Brooke who was holding her ankle, slight whimpers coming from her mouth.
"Pain!" The brunette whimpered as she leaned into her sisters shoulder with Lizzie cradling her head.
~~~~~~~~~~

Peyton and Lizzie stood in silence as they waited for Brooke. They both wanted to say something to the other but neither knew where to start.

Haley walked through the doors, making the two girls look over at her,

"What are you still doing here?" Peyton asked,

"I'm thinking of transferring," Haley joked, "What's your excuse?"

"We're just waiting for Brooke. She's been in there for a while." Lizzie responded,

Suddenly, the door opened revealing a staggering Brooke who was high on painkillers.

"Heyyy." Brooke giggled as she nearly tripped before falling into Lizzie's arms,

The trainer followed behind Brooke, wearing a slight guilty look on his face.

"This is my little sister and my best friend in the whole entire world! Don't you think they're pretty?" Brooke grinned, poking her sisters face.

"What did you do to her?" Lizzie asked, glaring at the trainer,

"She found some pills on the floor." The trainer stuttered, "She'll be fine, just let her sleep it off."

"Yeah, I'm sure that's what happened." Lizzie grumbled as she continued to glare at the guy.

He began to walk away as Brooke continued to laugh,

"Hey, oooh, call me." She yelled, getting out of her sister's grip before stumbling again as Haley caught her.

Lizzie and Haley both wrapped an arm around Brooke's shoulders as they helped her walk to Peyton's car,

"We should totally hang out more often. What is your name?" Brooke asked, looking over at Haley.

"Haley." The brunette said slowly, accentuating the letters of her name.

Brooke shook her head with a frown, "Yeah, I don't like that name. Let's call you...Brooke."

Lizzie sighed heavily, "Sweetie, that's your name."

Brooke giggled once more, making Lizzie roll her eyes.

Once Haley and Lizzie helped Brooke into the backseat and made sure she was in a comfortable position, they began to walk over to the bus stop.

"Wait, where are you two going?" Peyton questioned,

"Oh, we're just gonna take the last fan bus back." Haley responded,

"They just left."

"That's perfect!" Brooke squealed, "Brookie can come with us."

Peyton looked between the three girl, confusion written across her face.

"Yeah, she named me Brooke." Haley muttered,

"Peyton, can she come? Please?" Brooke pleaded, "Peyton, please."

"Just don't touch the stereo. Or we'll have a problem." Peyton warned,

Lizzie began to walk away until Peyton stopped her, "Where do you think you're going? Get in."

"It's fine, I'll just text Kyle, I'm sure he can pick me up." Lizzie assured, "Besides, you guys look like you've got it covered."

"Nice try." Peyton stated, "Your sister, your mess."

Since Brooke had a habit of getting drunk or in this case, taking one too many pills. Lizzie and Peyton always argued over who had to take care of her that night. Lizzie would always say 'Your friend, your mess.' To which Peyton would respond with, 'Your sister, your mess.' It had sort of become an inside joke between the two.

"Road trip!" Brooke cheered,

Lizzie smiled as she climbed into the backseat next to Brooke who was singing and dancing about going on a road trip.

She realized that maybe everything would be okay. Maybe her and Peyton's friendship wasn't over after all.

All she had to do was forget about Nathan.

~~~~~~~~~~
The colors of blue and white smushed together in Lizzie's face as a giggling Brooke continued to shove her Pom Poms in her sisters face.
Brooke suddenly gasped as if she just had an amazing idea, she leaned her arms out the window and threw her Pom Poms onto the side of the road, she clapped her hands excitedly before she laid down, resting her head onto her sisters lap.
"Wanna hear something weird?" Brooke giggled, "My little sister and best friend like the same guys, or guy or something..."
Lizzie rolled her eyes, ever since she had admitted to Brooke that she didn't think the kiss between her and Nathan was a mistake, Brooke bought it up every chance she got, "Brooke, I'm just tutoring him."
"So, do you kiss everyone you tutor?" Peyton asked, with a hint of anger.
Lizzie sighed, "Peyton, I told you! He kissed me and even though I didn't pull away and I kissed him back for a slight moment, which I fully regret. It didn't mean anything!"
"Really? Because it seemed like it meant something to Nathan. In fact, if I didn't know any better, I'd say he's into you." Peyton stated,
"I told you. I knew it! I was right." Haley shouted in victory although a look from Lizzie and Peyton made her shut up, "Right, not the time."
She didn't want to believe that her first real boyfriend had feelings for her best friend, it hurt when she saw them kissing on the beach that night. But in all fairness, she had never been truly happy with Nathan and Nathan had never been truly happy with her, they were both just lonely and looking for some company. Even though Nathan treated her like crap, she wanted him to be happy and she could see how happy he was when he'd spend time with Lizzie and (even if Lizzie wouldn't admit it) she was just as happy spending time with him.
"Well even if he was, which I'm sure he isn't, it's not like anything would ever happen between us. I don't like him like that." Lizzie lied,
She did like Nathan, she truly did. At first, she was just attracted to him, he was hot, there was no denying that but he was also a total jackass. But then he showed her a different side of him, a caring and sweet side that made the short brunette just melt. If only he was like that all the time and then maybe she could see herself with him but as soon as other people were around, he changed, making Lizzie wonder if it was all an act.
"Look, it's okay if you do, I overreacted about the kiss. Truthfully, I was just looking for a reason to break up with him and I kind of wanted to yell at you for once." Peyton confessed,
"Why?"
"You always seem so put together and prepared and sometimes it annoys the hell out of me that you can never seem to do anything wrong whereas I'm always such a complicated mess." Peyton admitted, with a slight wobble in her voice.
Lizzie didn't know what to say at that point. Peyton had basically just given her permission to date Nathan but did she really want to. Truth be told, Lizzie had never had a boyfriend and the only other time she had been kissed was during a sixth grade game of 'spin the bottle' she knew that Nathan and Peyton had sex and she knew that it happened often but Lizzie wasn't ready for that and she didn't know if Nathan would be the type of person who would wait for her to be ready.
"Just be careful." Peyton added, breaking Lizzie out of her thoughts.
Haley could tell that Lizzie was becoming uncomfortable with all the talk about her and Nathan so she quickly changed the subject, "What about you and Lucas?"
"What about us?"
"Oh, come on. Tortured artist meets tortured athlete? Talk about your obvious attraction." Haley snickered,
The car started to slow down as a sudden beeping noise came from it. Brooke shot up from her sisters lap, looking around, "I hear birds."
"Unbelievable!" Peyton scoffed, "Brooke, did you not think to put gas in the car?"
Brooke poked her head in between Haley and Peyton, looking towards the brunette, "Answer the question, Brooke."
Soon enough, the car stopped altogether, leaving the four girls stranded in the middle of an abandoned road.
"Why are we stopping?" Brooke obliviously asked,
"Because you forgot to put gas in the car!" Lizzie exclaimed, running her hands through her hair as she cursed her sister's stupidity.
~~~~~~~~~~

Lizzie and Peyton stepped out of the car while Haley stayed in the car with Brooke who was still giggling uncontrollably.

"There's still no signal. Who even lives like this?" Peyton stated as she held her phone up in the air, trying to find a signal so they could call for help.

"Pop the trunk, will you?" Lizzie instructed, softly

"Peyton, don't listen to it. It might be a trick." Brooke said as she stared at her sister with a suspicious look in her eyes.

Lizzie suppressed the urge to roll her eyes, "Brooke, why don't you just sit back down and look at the pretty stars."

Brooke made a small 'hmph' noise before she listened to her sisters instructions and looked up at the night sky.

"Yeah, it's empty." Lizzie concluded, holding up the empty fuel tank.

"I saw a gas station a few miles back. I'd say it's about a fifteen minute walk." Haley chimed in, looking out onto the dark road.

"Alright." Lizzie breathed, "If I'm not back soon, tell Brooke that I love her. You know, when she's not high."

Brooke grinned cheekily, "Don't you mean Nathan?"

Lizzie leaned toward Brooke and flicked her on the forehead making the older Davis whine loudly.

Lizzie began to walk away before Peyton called out, "Hold up, I'll go with you. Don't want you getting attacked by some serial masked killer."

Lizzie chuckled lightly, "That might be the sweetest thing you've ever said to me."

~~~~~~~~~~
"It's alright, you know? If you want to go out with Nathan, I'm okay with it. Truly." Peyton said as they strolled along the dark path.
"I told you, I don't like him like that. I'm just tutoring him." Lizzie lied, once again as she picked at the nail polish on her fingers.
Peyton scoffed, "You know I can always tell when you're lying, right? You do that thing where you pick at your nails."
Lizzie quickly shoved her hands into the pockets of her jacket, "I do not."
"Look, deny all you want about not liking Nathan. But we both know that it's not true and not only are you lying to me, but you're lying to yourself." Peyton remarked,
Lizzie knew Peyton was right, she was always right. If Peyton was really okay with the idea of Lizzie and Nathan, what was stopping her from going after him?
"He does care about you." Lizzie uttered, "He just doesn't know how to show it."
"I know. But he also cares about you." Peyton pointed out,
"Even if I did like him, I could never do that to you. It's breaking the girl code." Lizzie stated, folding her arms.
Lizzie didn't believe in the girl code and she knew Peyton didn't either, but there was no other good reason she could give to Peyton as to why she couldn't date Nathan.
"I don't believe in the girl code and neither do you. But I do believe in the friend code and as your friend, I want you to be happy and Nathan makes you happy. I've seen it."
"Why don't you hate me?" Lizzie asked incredulously, "I'm the reason you and Nathan broke up?"
"Hey, no matter how mad I am, I could never hate you. I'll never stop being your friend. Our friendship is so much more important that some stupid boy. Besides, it was a long time coming. Believe me." Peyton reassured the green-eyed girl.
Lizzie bit her lip, shaking her head, "It'd never work out anyway."
"And why do you say that?" Peyton inquired, interlocking her arm with the brunettes.
"Nathan's most likely hooked up with more than half the cheer team and I haven't even had a real first kiss. Doesn't really scream true love material, now does it?" Lizzie sighed hopelessly.
"Okay, so you're not Nathan's type. But I think that's a good thing, he opens up to you. Deep down, he's a good guy. You and I both know that and I think you're exactly what he needs to break out of his arrogant douchebag phase." Peyton reasoned, with a shrug of her shoulders
Lizzie took a deep breath before asking the question she'd been thinking about for a while now, "Do you really believe that he acts like such a jerk because of his dad?"
"Oh god, Danny sure did a number on him, that's for sure. But I think he acts the way he does because he's insecure especially now that Lucas has joined the team." Peyton explained,
"I think so too. Speaking of Lucas, are you sure there's nothing going on with you two?" Lizzie teased, poking Peyton on her side making the blonde smile.
"Tell you what, I'll talk to Lucas about my feelings when you talk to Nathan about your feelings." Peyton challenged with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
~~~~~~~~~~

Once the two friends arrived at the gas station, they walked up to the door to find that it was locked.

"Great, they're closed." Lizzie groaned, "What are we gonna do now?"

"We could walk around hoping someone will come and take pity on us." Peyton offered,

"Hold on." Lizzie said, "I think I found something."

The two girls rushed over to the abandoned ute, Lizzie rummaged through the back of it before she finally found what she was looking for. She picked up the hose and handed it to Peyton.

"What are you doing?" Peyton asked as she watched the short brunette take off one of her boots and shake it downward causing a metal item to fall onto the concrete.

Lizzie picked it up, revealing it to be a pocket knife. Peyton gave her a look to which Lizzie responded, "You can never be too careful, especially with someone like Brooke as your sister. Try and get that gas cap open."

"Again, I ask. What are you doing?" Peyton questioned watching Lizzie slide the hose through the now open gas cap,

"Haley taught me this trick when we ran out of gas once on the way to the movies." Lizzie mentioned before she sliced the hose with her knife and began sucking the end of it.

"Had a lot of practice?" Peyton smirked,

Lizzie raised her eyebrows to which made the blonde's smirk widen, "At sucking gas. What'd you think I meant?"

After a moment, a squeaking noise came from the hose making Lizzie quickly let go of it as gas began to spill out. Peyton automatically grabbed the red tank, laughing as it started to fill up.

"Damn, who knew you were such a badass."

~~~~~~~~~~
The car had been filled up with gas and the four girls were back on the road. When the two girls came back, they found Brooke asleep against Haley's shoulder. Lizzie had allowed Haley to sit in the front seat again seeing as to how she had to deal with a high Brooke for over forty minutes.
Brooke was still asleep but Lizzie had now positioned her to be fully laying down in the backseat with her legs sprawled over the backseat as theย  younger brunette stroked her hair.
"We need some music." Peyton stated, breaking the silence that the girls had been stuck in for the past 10 minutes.
"Ooo, check in the glove compartment. That's where Brooke stashes all of her CD's" Lizzie informed as she continued to stroke her sisters hair.
Peyton opened the glove compartment and fumbled through it, looking for one of the CD's that Brooke had borrowed making her take her eyes off of the road,
"Peyton." Haley yelled before she gripped onto the steering wheel since they were about to drive off the road.
Brooke shot up, being woken up by the sharp turn of the car, "Where the hell are we?"
"Miles from normal." Haley answered,
Brooke leaned forward, looking at Haley's face with confusion before turning to Peyton, "What is she doing here?"
"You invited her." Peyton replied as the three girls began to laugh causing Brooke to look even more confused.
Peyton suddenly blasted the music from the CD she had picked up making Brooke cover her ears and scream as she fell back onto the backseat which only made the girls laugh harder
~~~~~~~~~~

The three girls were rocking out to the music that was playing as Brooke still tried to make sense of the night.

Haley started to make wild hand actions as she pretended to play an electric guitar making Peyton laugh hysterically.

"Nice." Haley commented once the song finished, "What's next?"

"Uh, you pick."

Lizzie gasped dramatically, "I'm sorry, what is happening? Peyton Elizabeth Sawyer is allowing someone else to touch the stereo?"

Peyton chuckled, "What can I say? She's grown on me."

"This is so tragic. You guys don't actually think you're gonna be friends tomorrow, do you?" Brooke scoffed, making Haley and Peyton frown knowing that the brunette cheerleader was speaking the truth

"Brooke, stop being such a bitch." Lizzie shouted, "And for your information, Haley was my friend before tonight which you would know if you paid attention to anyone other than yourself!"

Lizzie had finally had enough, she was used to Brooke's bitchy attitude, she was used to Brooke bad mouthing people and she was used to letting Brooke walk all over her but she was over it. She had a voice and she was gonna make sure that it was heard. She loved her sister more than anyone in the entire world, but at certain times, she wanted to punch her just to get her to stop talking. It felt like a weight had been lifted off of her shoulder as she finally said what she wanted, for the first time in years.

Brooke sat there with her mouth agape and her eyes widened, she had never heard her sister so angry. She was a little scared at the newfound confidence Lizzie had just developed but she was mostly proud. Lizzie was always so used to keeping her mouth shut and never speaking up for herself which allowed people the ability to walk all over her. As her big sister, Brooke hated seeing her being treated like that but she knew that she couldn't do anything about it. She had to let Lizzie find her voice by herself and it seemed like she finally had and that made Brooke happier than ever.

Brooke quickly wrapped her arms around her sister and squeezed her so tightly until she worried that Lizzie might die of suffocation, "Thank you."

"You're thanking me for yelling at you?" Lizzie questioned, furrowing her brows at her sisters large smile.

"Yep! You've finally found your voice Lizzie Davis. All because of me." Brooke murmured as she buried her face into her sister's shoulder.

They continued driving along the deserted road until they suddenly saw two large figures standing in the middle of the road, Lizzie leaned forward to get a closer look, she suddenly realized who the two people were.

"Oh my gosh." Haley gasped,

"Nathan with Lucas." Peyton said,

"Has hell frozen over?" Lizzie added, still completely shell-shocked by the sudden revelation of the two Scott brothers seeming to actually be getting along. Maybe certain things surrounding Nathan Scott weren't as unlikely as she thought they were.

"Could we catch a ride?" Lucas asked sheepishly,

Peyton looked between the two Scott brothers, one of them being the ex-boyfriend she had just broke up with and the other being someone she could see herself falling for. She looked at Haley and Lizzie, silently asking the two what they thought. Haley and Lizzie looked at one another, thinking the same thing. They turned toward the blonde and simultaneously nodded their head.

"Hop in." Peyton sighed as she pressed the button that lifted the roof off of the car.

Nathan and Lucas both walked up to the backseat of the car with Lucas opening the left side of the door and Nathan opening the right. Brooke and Lizzie sat closer to each which resulted in the former almost sitting on top of Lucas's lap.

The four people that were once in the car had now turned into six. With Peyton driving and Haley in the passengers seat while Nathan sat in the far right corner of the backseat next to Lizzie who sat next to Brooke while Lucas was seated in the left corner. It was the tightest squeeze that all of them had ever been in.

Even with all the questions Lizzie had about why Nathan and Lucas were stranded in the middle of the road and how they had managed to tolerate each other during the night, the only thing she could concentrate on was trying to calm her racing heart.

Lizzie hadn't been this close to Nathan since they had kissed on the beach and now that she had realized that Nathan felt something for her and she had gotten the okay from Peyton to act upon her feelings for him, she didn't know what to do. She wasn't even sure if she wanted to pursue a relationship with him.

Nathan moved around slightly in which his arm accidentally brushed against Lizzie's which made her breath hitch slightly as she felt electricity run through her whole body from the slight interaction. Little did she know, Nathan's breathing had hitched the moment he saw her and he hadn't been able to take a breath since.

Lizzie thought about Peyton's previous words; "I want you to be happy and Nathan makes you happy."

She looked at Nathan and fully took him in for once; his storm blue eyes, his black hair that she was desperate to run her hands through and most of all, his full pink lips. If she was being honest, the only thing she wanted in that moment was to feel those soft lips pressed against hers again but she knew she couldn't, at least not right now.

Lizzie looked down and saw that his hands were rested upwards on top of his jeans. It's as if his hand was begging to be held by hers, so she chose to fulfill the unannounced wish. She took a deep breath and slowly lowered her delicate hand into his large hands before interlocking their fingers.

Nathan quickly turned towards the brunette once he felt her hand interlock with his, the brunette was staring straight ahead, refusing to look at him although she had a soft smile caressing her face. Nathan squeezed her hand lightly, hoping to give her some type of reassurance.

Lizzie slowly turned her head towards him and her smile widened when she saw his softened eyes gazing down at their interlocked hands.

This was it.

This was the moment she realized what she wanted in life,

She wanted Nathan.
