Hye-Jin's eyes fluttered open, a sharp pain throbbing in her head. She groaned, sitting up slowly as her hand rubbed her eyes. She glanced around the room, noticing the rows of bunk beds stacked onto each other. "What the...?" she muttered under her breath. She looked down at her outfit- a green jacket with the number 232 stitched onto it.

She ended up in the strange room after calling the number on the brown card- the one she took from the stranger she met on the subway. After she called it, the person on the other line told her to meet up with them, and for some reason she agreed to do so. The last thing she remembered was getting into a car, before everything went black.

She pulled the white blanket off of her legs and carefully climbed down the beds. Once her feet touched the floor, she stretched her arms, then began pacing around the room, her mind racing with thoughts and questions.

Everyone was confused, wandering around the big room with questions being asked. The chatting quieted down when a door suddenly opened, revealing a group of people in bright pink outfits with black masks on their face. Hye-Jin tilted her head to the side, getting more confused. She wondered why they were wearing masks.

She walked to the door to get a closer look, hearing one of the guards speak up. "I would like to extend a hearty welcome to all of you." The man with the square mask spoke, drawing everyone's attention. "Everyone here will participate in six different games over six days. Those who win all six games will receive a handsome in cash prize."

Hye-Jin scanned the room, looking at the people that stood in the room. They all wore the same green clothes but had a different number stitched on it. She couldn't help but wonder what kind of games they would be playing and who will win them all. If she wanted the cash prize, she knew she has to do whatever it takes.

"Excuse me," A voice said from behind Hye-Jin. She turned around only to see a woman with short hair raising her hand in the air, catching the guards attention. "You said I'd be playing games, but you practically kidnapped me." The woman complained.

"I apologize. Please understand that it was necessary to maintain the game's security." The guard explained to the woman. Hye-Jin couldn't help but let out a scoff, shaking her head. They did in fact, kidnap everyone in the room. What type of game show would need kidnapping involved unless its illegal?

The room erupted in chaos, questions being asked from every corner. Hye-Jin stood still, listening to the people around her yell and shout. A woman raised her hand in the air, holding her green jacket. "Did you take off my clothes and put these on me?" Before the guards could answer, a man started to yell, "What's with these shoes? My shoes are limited fucking edition!" The purple headed man raged.

Hye-Jin looked down at her clothes, suddenly realizing she couldn't remember changing out of her previous clothes. A shiver ran down her spine when she figured out the guards changed her clothes. The thought made her stomach do flips, feeling disgusted.Β

"Lee Myung Gi. Age 30, used to run a YouTube channel called MG coin. After convincing subscribers to invest in a new crypto coin called Dalmatian, causing losses of approximately 15.2 billion won, you shut down and disappeared." Hye-Jin's eyes stared at the large TV in front of her, her eyes widening as she watched player 333 get slapped by someone after loosing a game of Ddakji.

The TV continued to flip thought clips of players getting slapped until it stopped on a man with purple hair vaping. "Player 230, Choi Su-Bong. 1.19 billion won in debt." Hye-Jin let out a small laugh, finding it funny that everyone had videos of them getting slapped while he had a video of him vaping.

"Hye-Jin. Age 25. Used to own a restaurant before it got closed down. 1.10 million won in debt." The woman's throat tightened as she watched herself on TV getting slapped on the cheek after loosing a round of Ddakji. She looked down at her white shoes in embarrassment. She felt like she failed her parents, failed herself, and now everyone knows why she joined the Squid Games. She hated being in the spotlight.

"Taeyang. Player 241. Age 29. Owns a cafe but is in 1.30 million in debt." Hye-Jin lifted her head up, scanning the room for the man. The name ranged a bell- where did she hear it from? She looked back at the TV screen, she hummed once she realized who the man was.Β

Taeyang, the man who took her customers. The man that took all of her income. The man who ruined her life. Her jaw clenched tightly in anger, a ball of rage in her body. When she finds the man, she was going to make sure to have a serious talk with him.Β

"All of you in this room have crippling debts and are now on a cliff-edge. When we first came to you, you did not trust us either. But as you know, we played a game and gave you money as promised. And so you trusted us and volunteered to participate according to your own free will. You have one last chance to decide."

Hye-Jin paused for a moment, deciding if she wanted to stay or not. Did she really want to participate in these games? The money was something she really needed, not only for her restaurant but for her family. She couldn't return home empty handed. Her family already hated her for losing a lot of money for the restaurant. Taking a deep breath, she made up her mind. She will be in the games. She will win the money. And she will make her family happy.
