This chapter is dedicated to tumiakerele

Above is a picture of Dami.

Enjoy.

                     ~Β°~Β°~Β°~Β°~

I staggered my way back to my seat like some drunk man. Well I was drunk, drunk in confusion.

Irene made way for me to pass through, so I could have my seat in between her and Omonigho. I had a lot of questions to ask the girls, but there was no way I could ask them without sounding weird or stupid.

My eyes roamed the classroom, till it landed on Jeremiah. He was busy looking at me, and not paying attention to his buddy Dami, nor his other chubby seat partner.

I forced my eyes to leave his, which I regretted later. Staring at me now, was Jubilee. I eyed him a bit, as I scrunched my nose at him.

What's this one's problem?

I shook my head, then directed my attention to the front of the class, same time a teacher finally graced us with her presence.

She picked out a marker from the marker case, and wrote the word Financial Accounting on the board.

God, I hate accounting.

After writing the topic, Which happened to be; Manufacturing, Trading, Profit and Loss Account, She capped the marker and turned her attention to the class.

"Before lecturing you students about the topic on the board, Why don't we all acknowledge Tatiana." She smiled proudly at me, and that was the first time I had seen someone smile proudly at me. I knew I was stealing a spot light that was meant to be someone else's, but I just had to enjoy the moment. "And How are you feeling?"

I nodded my head nervously and then, forced the word "Fine," out of my mouth.

"Great," The lady clapped her hands. "Let's go into today's business."

I wrote down the topic written on the board, on Tatiana's accounting note book.

"Hey T," Irene whipped her head to face me. "You've changed your writing."

"Uh?" I asked confused, then looked at my writing on the note book.

"Oh yeah," I coughed. "I wanted to try something new."

Omonigho laughed at that. "Changing your breathtaking handwriting into something that looks like it's suffering its last days on earth, is trying something new?"

I rolled my eyes a bit. Not only was I small in front of my peers, I had the worst handwriting in the world. Judith once insulted my writing, saying it looked like that of a Dog shit.

"So with the words written on the board, you all would have gotten an idea of what the topic is talking about." The teacher's eyes roamed the classroom. "Jeremiah, why don't you do the honours by telling the class what manufacturing is all about?"

Jeremiah stood up, gaining everyone's attention. "Manufacturing is the process of converting raw materials or inputs into finished goods or outputs. And the process of manufacturing account, is to ascertain the cost of production."

Everyone gave a thunderous clap, like Jeremiah was some world famous musician, who had just finished a mind blowing concert.

The teacher strode over to the board and wrote a word on it. "Prime cost," The teacher identified the new word she had just written. "Are cost that are traceable to the place of production. And under prime cost, we have; Direct cost, Direct material, Direct labour and Direct expenses, also known as the four Ds."

I tried writing that down, since it seemed important.

"Tatiana," My head shot up, upon hearing T's name. "Kindly tell the class the definition of the four Ds. I'm sure I had thought you all last year."

Why does the universe hate me so?

I nervously stood up from my seat, then glanced at some few people's faces in the classroom. "Um..." I looked at my book, to see the first thing I was supposed to define. "Direct materials are..... Um...... Are__"

"Miss Onyeka," Jeremiah got up promptly from his seat. "It would be nice watching Tatiana answer some questions. But we all are aware about everything that had happened to her."

Everything?

"She might not be fully stable to answer questions." Jeremiah concluded.

The woman stopped to think for a second, "True." She nodded her head, then smiled at Jeremiah. "Why don't you help her out?"

Jeremiah nodded. Without even glancing at his book, Jeremiah began. "Direct materials are those materials that are traceable to the cost of production. Direct labour are wages that is being paid directly to the labourers. Direct expenses are money incurred to get the materials for production." Jeremiah explained within one breath.

I opened my mouth in awe, as I stared up at him. Does love at first glance still exist? Well the answer is no, cause I've met him more than twice. And in the first sight, I felt nothing.

"Since Jeremiah has given us the liberty of explaining what I had listed earlier," The teacher walked over to the board and wrote something on it. "I'm going to talk about Variable cost. This isn't a new topic to you all. But to treat today's topic, we need to refresh our brain."

She capped the marker, after a girl had reminded her to do so. "Variable cost are cost that are not fixed. We should also take note that, the fixed assets, are no longer called fixed assets but now called non-correct assets. And this is because, they are not liquid in nature."

"Omonigho," The teacher called. "When I say that they are not liquid in nature, what do you think that I'm talking about?"

Omonigho closed and book and kept a pen on it, before getting up from her seat. "It means that they are not easily disposed."

I shook my head from were I sat. Was everyone Albert Einstein in this classroom? I tried glancing round and then realised not everyone was Albert Einstein. Few had their heads buried in their books, while others tried blocking their faces with their hands, so as to dodge the teacher's eyes.

"Great," Miss Onyeka acknowledged her. "Now that we've known about the Prime cost, what is the word factory overhead talking about? This isn't a new word to us."  Her eyes moved to the back, "Dami."

Why ask when you're gonna point someone at the end of the day?

Dami, Jeremiah's friend got up from his seat with a huge grin plastered on his face. "Factory overhead is the opposite of prime cost. This are not directly traceable to the cost of production."

Miss Onyeka had a proud smile on her face, as she looked at Dami. "Great, you all are making me proud. Knowing all these, we can now proudly solve the manufacturing accounting. Now, let's look at the format."

She went back to the white board, uncapped the marker and began. "The heading is meant to look like this; Manufacturing, Trading, Profit and Loss Account For The Year Ended Dec 31 2018." I wrote what she had just said, with a tiring sigh. The class was so boring.

"On the first line, the first thing we're going to have is your 'opening inventory', and I'm sure you all know what that is," She drew two Xs under the naira sign. "And next, we have 'add purchase'."

                     ~Β°~Β°~Β°~Β°~

"Shit!" Jaja exclaimed at the back. "Miss Onyeka wants to burst my brain." That made almost everyone to laugh.

It was the end of the first period and Miss Onyeka, had already left the classroom. The students had once again began their chatters, while others were busy chatting on their phones.

My eyes sighted Jeremiah, as he left the class. He wasn't alone, He was chatting away with his best friend, Dami.

"Excuse me," I found my way out of my seat, before Irene or even Omonigho, could question me.

But before I could reach the door to the classroom, Irene questioned. "Where are you going?"

"I um..." Not having any legit excuse, I simply replied. "I'll be right back."

I rushed out, and sighted Jeremiah and Dami, disappearing at a corner. I ran as fast as my little legs could carry. Sport wasn't for me.

"Jeremiah!" I yelled, before he and Dami could descend down the stairs. Both boys turned their heads towards me, giving me a puzzled look. "Can I um..... Can I talk to you for a sec?"

Jeremiah glanced at Dami, "I'll catch up with you."

Dami lifted his brows in utter confusion, then lifted both hands up in defeat, before descending the stairs.

"What do you want?" Jeremiah asked, taking a step forward.

Was he having little hints about me being a different person?

I wanted to find out if he does or not.

Or what if he doesn't know? What if it was all in my head?

"I don't have all day," I flinched a bit at his words, bringing me back to reality.

"I um.... I wanted to ask you something." I said nervously.

"I'm aware of that," Jeremiah's face was lack of any emotion, so I couldn't read him.

"Um, I um....." I scratched the back of my head, then shook my head sideways. "I just wanted to say thank you."

Not true.

I had lots of questions to ask. I wanted to know if he knew I wasn't Tatiana. I wanted to ask him about Happiness. I wanted to ask him about the sins, Rosemary mentioned earlier. I also wanted to ask if he was aware of Jubilee's deal towards Tatiana, but I just couldn't.

"If you've got something to say, say it." Jeremiah folded his arms with raised brows.

"Nah," I shook my head. "I'm good." I turned my body to the opposite direction, as I began to force my legs to take me back to class.

"Wait," Jeremiah stopped cooly. I paused and turned, to look at him one last time. "Food for thought, try not to be obvious."

There he goes again!

I nodded like it was no big deal, and muttered. "Thanks."

I turned, as Jeremiah began to strode down the stairs, to catch up with Dami. Walking back to class, I began to storm my brain. Something I'd realized I've been doing too often.

Tatiana got some problems, and it was left for me alone, to figure it out.
