𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄 + 𝐌𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 Evander, deriving from Greek and Scottish roots, Evander is a boy's name that means "good man." In Scottish traditions, it's believed the name is an anglicized version of Iomhar, deriving from the Norse name, Ivor, which translates to "bow warrior" and "strong man."

𝐌𝐈𝐃𝐃𝐋𝐄 𝐍𝐀𝐌𝐄(𝐒) + 𝐌𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 Reiner, Originating from Old German, the boy's name Reiner means "army counsel," which derives from the German ragin meaning "advice" and heri meaning "army."

Evie: This is the name his little sister calls him. There's quite a significant age gap between the two siblings with Evander being seventeen and his sister being five. This caused Evander to grow up feeling responsible for her and the need to look out for her came along with that. If anyone else in the world were to call him 'Evie' he'd probably cringe so hard he'd never speak to you again but he'll put up with it, for Annie.

𝐒𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐒 Evander has been training for these games since he was a child. He knows how to wield weapons, he knows his poisonous berries from his edible ones. He has almost every necessary skill covered to at least a base level. Where he really excels is in his brain Evander is a sweet talker and he makes people absolute putty in his hands with a couple cheeky one-liners.

𝐖𝐄𝐀𝐏𝐎𝐍 𝐒𝐊𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐒
While Evander is well versed in most if not all the weapons on offer in the games his favourite and possibly best weapon is his hand to hand combat. He is one of the strongest and tallest tributes and he can easily use his strength and height to overpower the 'weaker' tributes. If he had to pick an actual weapon his favourite would probably be a sword, old fashioned he knows but it's something about how light it feels in your hands and how easy it is to wield.

𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐏𝐄𝐃 𝐎𝐑 𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 𝐕𝐎𝐋𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐄𝐑? He volunteered. Evander immediately knew he had to volunteer when the name of a frail barely thirteen year old boy was called. Evander knew even with the training it would be quite unlikely the boy would survive and the thought of the boy dying scared and alone made his stomach turn.

𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄𝐒

• He has all sorts of little scabs and scars across his hands and legs from his infinite amount of failed attempts with new weapons throughout his training days.

• He has a little scar above his eyebrow from when he tried to learn parkour during training, unassisted. Safe to say he fell flat on his face and had to get stitched up.

• Evander is a big boy, he stands at around six foot three and a half. He was very short growing up which worried his trainers a lot but as soon as he hit his growth spurt (a little later than normal) they calmed down.

• He almost has a 'sleeper build' where you can't really see how strong he actually is unless he decides to show you. To the untrained eye someone could mistake him for any other skinny and lanky boy but Evander prides himself on being in shape.

• Evander is ambidextrous meaning he can use both his right and left hands to successfully complete tasks to the same standard. It's very useful when it comes to weapon wielding in his personal opinion

• He actually has quite soft features with his big round eyes and oval jaw. If he wasn't a career Evander would almost be approachable. He has a friendly and kind face definitely the kind you'd take home to your parents.

𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐒 Evander is loyal, kind, strong-willed, determined, extroverted, protective, charming and quick-witted.

𝐍𝐄𝐆𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐒 Evander is stubborn, temperamental, weakly-moraled, overly confident, blunt, kinda manipulative and selfish

𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐋𝐋
Evander's determination knows no boundaries. When he is compelled or forced into doing something he will do it, doesn't matter if he does it successfully or not he always follows through. He loves to prove people wrong and best them in the process so if the world is against Evander then Evander is against the world and he will not back down from the challenge.

He is determined, yes but sometimes he takes it to a point where it is almost obsessive. This man will have no rest for nights on end just to take care of what he needs to. Many nights growing up would be spent with his father going over and analysing old Hunger Games footage. He supposes that's where the habit stemmed from, he continues to stay up and night reviewing old footage. It's gotten to the point that when the games are on every year Evander nitpicks at all their silly mistakes.

Loyalty is something that means a lot of Evander. After all what is the world without loyalty? Nothing. Even animals have some sort of loyalty structure amongst themselves the same way we humans do. It is a necessary part of society when it comes to order and justice, in Evander's personal opinion of course

You may see the two traits 'Strong-willed' and 'Weakly-moraled' and question them both being to describe the same person but it is true. Evander is strong willed in a way many people wouldn't understand he refuses to give up, his body refuses to give up or give into all the pressure and pain surrounding him. While on the other hand he lacks a lot in morals simply because it's not something he really cares about, he has better things to be spending his time on other than stupid hypotheticals that won't matter if he's dead and buried after the games.

Charm wasn't something Evander had to learn it came naturally to him. At one point in his life the switch just flipped and suddenly he was no longer a stuttering little boy. Evander is often told his personality is 'addictive' which is a comment he didn't understand at first but after careful consideration he thinks he gets it now. He's great at putting on a persona and displaying himself in a way which is palatable to his audience.

Evander is very stuck in his ways. Even if he knows something to be wrong he probably won't change what he does just because he doesn't want to, too much effort. If you try to argue with him he'll argue back even if he actually agrees with you, he'd rather argue and fight than admit that he's wrong. Maybe he's just a little bit petty but not too much he's sure.

Evander will be the first person to admit he has a bit of a temper. He'll defend himself by saying that he only gets annoyed when "you're acting stupid" but he knows deep down that even if you had been making a valid point he would have had the same reaction because he's just so horrendously stubborn that everything either works his way or they don't work at all.

𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐆𝐓𝐇𝐒
• Strength. Evander is very physically strong. It would be harder to imagine him being weak considering all the non-stop training he's done in his life.

• Hand to hand combat. This one is less skill than it is biological advantage. Evander is a tall and strong man who can very easily take down 'weaker' opponents with sheer brute force

• Charisma. It would be stupid to volunteer yourself into the games if you weren't charismatic enough to please the crowds. Luckily for Evander he has charisma in buckets. He knows the right button to press, the right way to keep his tone, when and when not to address a crowd. He has it all down to a T.

• Determination. Evander believes that you can do almost anything if you're determined enough. He relies on strength in both his body and his mind. It requires determination to keep going, to keep surviving and Evander's body and brain both refuse to cave in.

• Basic survival skills. He has this covered at a base level. He knows how to hunt, how to fish, he's pretty sure he understands how to filter water but he wouldn't trust himself to do that unless he positively had to.

• Weapon handling. Being ambidextrous definitely helps Evander with this. The precious seconds spent adjusting your weapon to your preferred hand is never an issue to Evander, he'll take it whichever way it comes to first.

𝐖𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐒
• Evander's hearing is quite bad. It's been that way since birth, the boy is used to having to ask people to repeat themselves more times than necessary and still not getting it. He's taking to reading the lips of people rather than trying to understand the words being said so if you speak to him with your head turned or your not looking at him he probably won't understand you or will at least have a hard time doing so.

• Swimming is something Evander never learned to do in person. District one didn't have a pool so it would be quite difficult to learn. He understands the motions of swimming but he's terrified of the water and he freezes up even at the thought of getting in so much that he'd probably forget the motions as soon as he go it.

• Overconfidence is something Evander knows he struggles with and is something he's trying to get under wraps but it's harder than you'd think. He's in such a habit where he's been told his whole life that he's better and more prepared than almost every other person. To him he's not being cocky but that it's fact, he's better than them, but he also realises he'll lack in the allies department if that's his attitude.

• Balance is also something he's struggled with his whole life. It's actually caused by his hearing troubles. Not only can having bad hearing disrupt your.. hearing it also cause issues with your balance. In Evander's case it is to do with semicircular canals in his ears which throw off his balance.

• Evander is not a team player he very much puts an 'I' smack bang right in the middle to 'te(I)am.' He plays the game for himself, nobody else. He might help you out and let you tag a long with him but if he had to choose between you dying or him dying you're dead every time.

𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘
Evander has been training for the games since almost as long as he could remember. While normal children would be outside playing and overall enjoying life Evander was cooped up with all sorts of trainers teaching him a million different things at once.

For a non-Capitol family his family were quite well off, which is to be expected since they're from the wealthiest of the districts. This meant that Evander's mother and father had a lot of free time. Free time that was spent strictly lecturing Evander about the games for hours at a time almost everyday.

Evander didn't have very many friends his age or otherwise. His family were so focused on making sure he was prepared in case he ever got reaped that he had little to no free time. His few interactions with other children would be during training where he would 'act up' in order to get a few cheap laughs and smiles. It always worked so Evander didn't mind the screaming sessions that awaited him afterwards.

With all his free time spent training Evander quickly surpassed his peers simply because "he was more dedicated", "he wanted this more than anyone else", "he wanted to live more than anyone else." Or at least that's what his parents would tell him when he'd cry to them about how he wants to have time to make and keep friends.

Evander played off his loneliness with a 'tough guy' persona which founded his skill in taking up personas to be more palatable to an audience. People couldn't make fun of him if they were too scared to even look in his direction. Of course this got him in trouble a bit for 'intimidation' but since he didn't actually do anything he normally got off free of charge.
