"TASTE IT! TASTE IT!" The man in Christian's face said in a wide, horrifying grin; eyes nearly popping out of their socketsโ€”chopping his own hand. Kathleen only watched the entire frightening scene, shrieking in fear.ย

She wanted to run and leave the house, but the idea of him being the real Christian ceased her judgements. He must be a doppelganger. He should be! Yet, what if...

"S-Stop!! Please, stop!"

Christian only stood there, knife still in hand, still wearing his terrifying grin. Dogs in the neighborhood started howling. Suddenly, the lights went off. Although the sun has begun to explore most parts of the living room, Kathleen still couldn't see him clearly.

Disregarding the cold sweat beading her body and the twists and knots of mixed emotions made every breath a strained battle, she forced herself to move closer to him. One step, and one more...

"He's listening! He's listening!"

Christian's demonic voice made Kathleen's temples throb. "W-Who's listening?" She managed to ask anyway, slowly making her way closer to him.

"The seer," this time, Christian's voice turned into a child, perhaps, a girlโ€”the girl. Kathleen's hands closed tightly. "You!" Her jaw clenched, pointing the girl peeking behind her bleeding boyfriend. 'Twas the same little devil she saw in her dreams that one fateful night.

"Must kill! Must kill! Must kill!" The girl chanted. Kathleen doesn't have any idea what to expect next; nevertheless, Christian's lithe hand gestures flashed scenes in her head which sent her running to take the knife away from him.ย

She might get woundedโ€”he might stab her yet she couldn't care less. She's not losing anyone again. Kathleen's movements were quick; however, Christian was quicker and he held the knife up where she couldn't reach it; still grinning, looking to no one in specific.ย

The girl continued chanting the same words; Kathleen could already feel her breaths brushing against her ear as though her lips were just beside it.ย

Her teeth grinded in wrath, finally giving up on taking the knife from her boyfriend. She knows he's making his move once she let her guard down and boy, was she right as the moment her shoulders relaxed, Christian looked at her and initiated an attack.

Kathleen might saw it comingโ€”she didโ€”yet she chose to let Christian lunged the knife on her right shoulder.

The blow is truly excruciating that she screeched, but she couldn't let the pain win or her plan will be wasted. Exclaiming, Kathleen mustered her might to move away, taking the knife with herโ€”in her. She didn't even think twice of pulling it out and charged towards the girl.ย

She wasn't thinking, 'twas clear, and she only realized that the creature is just a ghost, or even a product of her imagination, when she passed through her.

"Fuck you!" She growled and turned back to the girl who remained standing beside Christian who seems to be frozen in time, even the blood which were oozing out from his wound stopped.

"B-Bring him back, you little s-shit!" Mixture of sweat and tears dropped from Kathleen's chin. "Or I swear, I'll follow you even in hell."

The girl innocently inclined her head to her right. She doesn't look as horrifying as before, but the aura surrounding her still screams evilness.

"Do you wanna kill me that bad?" She asked, voice sounded soft as the cool morning breeze that Kathleen wasn't able to respond.ย

Even though she knows the one standing before her is evil, yet who would kill a child? Clearly not her. "I see... you're not answering. Let me rephrase my question," the girl tapped her chin as if she's thinking. Weird enough, her voice sounded audible. "Perhaps... will you kill me if that could bring her back?"

Kathleen's muscles tensed even more. What is she talking about? The girl smiled. It was so genuine, if she didn't know her, she'd think she's normal. The silence surrounding the spaces spoke volumes and the girl understood. "Then stop seeking for her, Sam."

"Sam..." Kathleen released a careworn breath. "You're still talking about her, just like that night. Just who in the world are you? W-Why are you doing this to us?"

"I'm someone the living should not be seeing," the girl answered quick. "Now that it has been spoken," the sinister grin again curved on her lips. "Are you certain you're alive?"

Kathleen scoffed. "This," she pointed the wound on her shoulder. "This proves I'm living you piece of shit," she'd walked closer and loomed over the girl. By the sound of her voice, she might have departed the world of the dead and has now walked with them entirely and her theory was right away confirmed when she placed a hand of the girl's shoulder and felt her.

Kathleen saw the girl smile again and stiffly stopped herself from responding to a thoughtโ€”perhaps, a memory. Now that she had seen her up close in a clear flawless unrealistic faรงade... she finally realized who she was.
