The story takes place somewhat between episode 5 & 6 of Beyblade Burst. It's the day after the match between Daigo and Valt in the District Tournaments and obviously Valt had won and found a new member for his beyclub.

The riverbank.
Certainly not my most favourite spot at Beigoma. Not as preferable as the city market, but a place that holds undeniable memories.
But good or bad? That, I'll leave up to time.
Feels like it's been so long since I was here last. But exactly how long? Everything is still the same as I remember.
But is it?
Frowning, I got up from the ground and decided to walk my way back home. I'd already been sitting there for an hour, aimlessly watching the blue water sparkle in the sunshine while thinking about random things here and there. I'd arrived in Japan only a few days ago, yet I couldn't help but checking out how much I remembered from three years ago.
Plus, I knew I'd have to get home and finish the chores I left for myself last night. I lived alone, which meant I had responsibility. It was sometimes annoying, but I usually had ideas to deal with it.
My thought process was slowing me down as I walked down the road. Normally, no passer-by pays attention to anyone so randomly. But I think somebody stopped to speak to me. I wasn't sure why.
It was so abrupt that I barely had time to process.
"Hi! My name's Valt Aoi!" The boy in front of me stated happily, his fists locked in excitement. His voice was childish, just like his height. I took my time to notice the details. His brown eyes were shiny and his blue hair were held up by a blue headband with yellow accents.
His skin was fair with red markings on his left cheek below his eye, which was quite attractive. Overall, he looked kinda hot, but that was overshadowed by his childishness.
But either way, he was bothering me. And I don't really like to be disturbed while walking peacefully; also, not a big fan of talking to strangers. Leave alone weird, childish hot boys.
"(Y/n) (L/n). Do I... know you?" I asked suspiciously.
"Heh, nope!" he grinned proudly. Okay, then why the hell did you stop to talk to me?
I decided not to say that loudly.
"How can I, um, help you?" I asked him. Okay, I'm sure that'd be sounding very awkward. But I can't help it. Not everyday some random stranger comes to me and says: 'Hi, my name's this this. I want to talk to you. And yeah! You don't know me.'
"Actually, I thought I've seen you somewhere, then I realized that you look like one of my friends!" he explained.
"Now may I go?"
I didn't waste my breath replying with equal enthusiasm. I'm generally not able to be nice even if I want to. And right now, I don't want to. Moreover, Valt wasn't making sense and wasting my time.
For a long time I've been thinking of buying a book on '100 ways how to be nice to people' or something like that because you don't know when the President may come to you and you sounded rude and the next thing you know is getting thrown outta the country.
"Wait! You can't just go away like this. You've gotta meet him! His name's Shu. He's my best friend!"
Would that be a good idea to disturb someone just to meet me? Or to disturb me to meet someone I didn't ask about?
"I'm kinda busy over here, so if you'll excuse me?" I glared pointedly and started making my way towards my home again.
And suddenly, it happened. Something that would change a lot in my life.
I felt something small circling around my wrist and the next thing I knew I was being dragged back. I realized that was Valt's little hand. Truth: it barely circumferenced even half of my wrist.
"It'll take just... a few minutes... hmph." I knew by common sense, he was having difficulty dragging my weight, but that didn't stop the boy. Even I couldn't pull back using my strength because something about his balance was, well, imbalanced. I couldn't have freed myself without making us both fall.
I screamed a lot of protests and curses but he suddenly seemed very much deaf about it.
Eventually, I was dragged to a Beypark (as I got to know after seeing a stadium). I was calculating how much time will it take for me to hide Valt's body when I saw a white-haired boy on the platform, launching his bey.
That must be the Shu he was so happily talking about. I could even make out the resemblance that Valt would've noticed: my hair were white as well. And... he's a blader? Something at the back of my mind told me I'm supposed to know.
Shu. I think I've heard that name somewhere. Someone famous? Someone with a good blading career? Probably a unique victory highlights him out? Or a unique defeat he's faced?
In a single second, I was so overwhelmed that I involuntarily let Valt take me. You know there's this nagging thought in your mind everytime you're supposed to know something but you just can't remember. Then you can't stop searching through your brain till you're able to place it.
It's so annoying but you can't shake off the curiosity either.
I wonder if he's also in the Districts. I wonder if he's really someone famous. I wonder if Valt's a blader as well. I wonder when will I stop wondering.
Valt might have shouted "SHUUUU!" which was how I came back to reality. He was so loud that the Shu had to cover his ears with his hands. My eardrums were able to tolerate, but I cringed anyway.
"Hi Valt," Shu said quietly and turned to face us. The first thing I noticed was his calm and clear voice. He must be really used to Valt being loud like hell. His face was overall cute, but he wore a serious expression. One side of his face was unnaturally covered by his hair. Again, I felt something strange seeing him, like I've seen him before.
Shu seemed smart, perfectly dressed and looked a mannered kid, nothing like Valt, who was unique in his own way. Another resemblance I placed: red eyes like mine. I could now understand why Valt stopped to talk to me. He was simply so stupid. Like two people can't have similar hair and eyes.
Idiot.
"Look! She looks like your lost twin!" He looked at Shu and pointed at me. Then he randomly said, "I want you to meet (Y/n)."
What I said: "Do you know pointing at people is rude?"
What I didn't say: I'M NOT SOMEBODY'S TWIN, YOU IDIOT.
"Shu Kurenai," Shu climbed down and took out his hand for a handshake. At least he's civilized enough and knows what's best.
But oh, bad move. What if I don't shake it? That would be pretty embarrassing.
"(Y/n) (l/n)," I smirked at my earlier thought but slowly held his hand, saving him the embarassment.
"So, uh," Shu made this kinda-confused-please-explain face towards Valt. "Who's this? A new friend of yours?"
Valt opened his mouth to answer, and I was also pretty curious about what he'll say but a squad barged inside the park and distracted him. He looked over in their direction and my natural reflexes forced me to glance as well. Three boys and a pair of kids: One of them had blonde hair and a lollipop in his mouth. The other had black hair and had a pair of mittens โ No, puppets โ one in each hand. His clothes were all green.
The third one was dressed like an emo, black hair held up with a red bandana. The kids seemed twins, the boy had electric blue and the girl had pink hair.
"Dude, we were waiting at the club and you're here?" the blonde screamed at Valt.
"Yeah! Forgot us? Practicing with Shu," the boy in green said with his blue puppet.
I thought I was tall enough to be seen but they seriously didn't even notice my presence! I mentally started worrying about my height. At least I'm taller than Valt. Have I turned invisible? What will I do if that happens?
But Valt had other plans. He made them notice me.
"Meet her, guys. She's (Y/n)!" Valt announced majestically as if I were the newly made queen of some large kingdom. I crossed my arms and kept a straight look.
"Hi," I said normally.
They stared at me. Two seconds passed. They kept staring and blinked their eyes. Did I sound stupid? Saying 'Hi' is stupid?
"Um, hi. Rantaro Kiyama. You can call me Honcho," the blonde slowly said, seeming a little cautious. I saw him almost taking out his hand for a handshake but then retreating it.
Boy... I won't eat you if you shook my hand. Believe me, Shu just did it.
"Hi. He's Ken. I'm Keru and that one is Besu," the puppet-boy said with his blue puppet. I made a mental note to stay away from this kid.
"Daigo Kurogami. Nice to meet ya," the last of them said calmly and carefully, using as few words as he could. Maybe his energy will be drained out if he spoke too much, or he'll run out of words... nevermind.
"Hi!" the kids said cheerfully.
"I'm Toko," said the boy.
"I'm Nika," said the girl.
"We are twins and Valt's siblings," they said again in unison.
I looked at them. Okay, careful, so that I don't sound much rude or stupid. Those. Are. Kids. Try not to scare them away.
I thought for a very long time before speaking and finally said something very friendly like, "Uh... huh."
But I decided to smile for it. Now let's just hope my smile doesn't freak them out.
"Your smile is cute," Toko said. It is?
I again said something very awesome like, "Uh... thanks?" More like a question, like I'm asking if saying thanks would be appropriate. I swear I never felt more embarrassed in my life.
Rantaro eyed me suspiciously before turning to Valt and making sure I couldn't hear him. I still heard him. "So, how did you get to know her? Don't tell me you started talking to her randomly. She's a little creepy."
I'm what now?
Valt narrated his story from the beginning (which didn't have much of a proper beginning), "I was going to the Beyclub and then saw her near the bridge and then I noticed she looks just like Shu. Red eyes, white hair, and you see, she's not very talkative either..." he whispered the 'not talkative' part, though I heard him.
It was also kind of obvious, considering never in my seven lives would I like to fit in Valt's definition of talkative.
"Just as I said. You were random about it," Rantaro sighed at Valt's stupidness. He kept whisper-talking more about how I could be Shu's secret twin but I decided not to hear more of it.
I looked up at the sky. Again, why the heck am I talking to these strange and weird people? I really don't wanna be here. I want more peace.
The angle of sunlight looked like it would be around two by now. I have to go train at 3:00 p.m. Hope this meeting gets over soon. From three to six, I don't care if the whole world gets destroyed, or the worst happens โ like my favourite announcer Hanami is dying, or whatever. I will train, so I will train because I really need to improve my game if I wanna win the Districts.
"No! This is a very serious matter. Shu's parents stay out, what if he had a twin all along?" Valt whisper-screamed, still trying to explain Rantaro. Rantaro tried his best to bring him to senses. Finally, when he couldn't anymore, he waved Valt off, promising to deal with him later.
Then he approached me. "So, you new in the town or what? Never seen you around here."
Wow, he still thinks I'm creepy and suspicious.
"Came from New York, two weeks ago," I answered. Valt developed a sudden interest in my story. I was surprised he even knew New York. Probably he didn't.
"Woah, that's so cool! But why?"
"I guess I wanted to, um, take part in the Nationals here... just for this year?" I said slowly, unsure if I should've shared this information or not. I was still curious about Shu Kurenai.
"YOU ARE A BLADER!?!?" They screamed, except the scary Daigo and the serious Shu.
"How'd I possibly be able to battle without being a blader?"
"Rude," Valt pouted.
I tilted my head. Dude, if you ever meet Lui then you'll know what exactly is being rude. I'm nothing.
Still, I'm working hard to improve myself. Can't you see how carefully I'm talking?
"Uh...I โ " I wanted to say something nice, but Valt, Rantaro and Ken beat me to it.
"Can we have a battle?!" They questioned in unison. Now, that. That was what I called abnormal.
Shu and Daigo sweatdropped. Toko and Nika stared at me. I quickly blushed and looked away. Cute little kids...
"I asked first. You know it!" They yelled at each other and glared.
"Rock Paper Scissors. You asked for it!" They screamed again. Do I have a say in this? What if I don't want a battle?
"Rock-Paper-Scissors!" They all got scissors.
"Rock-Paper-Scissors!" All got paper.
"Again," all scissors.
"Again," all rock.
"Again," all paper.
All rock, then paper, scissors, rock, scissors, paper. By that time, they were on my last nerve. I decided I'd yell at them if they didn't stop soon.
"Shut up!" Daigo took it from me. Wow, they managed to annoy Daigo. "Try something else."
Rantaro thought about it. "I got another awesome idea. Everyone tell their beys' types. One whose type matches (Y/n)'s gets to battle her." They all seemed to have agreed. I was surprised at their desperation towards the battle.
"My dear partner, Victory Valtryek, attack type."
"Raging Rocktavor. Stamina."
"King Kerbeus. Its a defence type!"
I sighed, "Stone Sparyon. Balance."
(A/n: Sparyon, spelt as 'Spรฆriษn')
Shu's expression softened. I didn't knew he was capable of that. "That settled there. I get to battle her."
So, his bey is a balance type... that nagging ugh-I-should-know feeling returned to annoy me again.
"No way!" Rantaro protested. "You can't steal the chance."
I rolled my eyes. "You know, each one of you is so pathetic that I could battle all three of you together and even win on it."
That received a collective "Eh?!" and a bunch of bewildered faces from everyone. Even Shu.
Rantaro glared at me like I personally offended him. "I don't think so! Haven't you learnt not to brag beyond your capabilities?"
I brushed my long hair over my shoulder. "I'm telling you much lesser than my actual capabilities."
He gritted his teeth but backed down. My confidence did enough for him to rethink his assumption. Did I mention that I love it when people are afraid of me?
"No, you won't. Get ready to lose," he said quietly. "There's no way you can beat Valtryek's, Rocktavor's and Kerbeus' combined powers!"
"I'd rather not waste my time on it." I placed my first step towards the park exit, which made Rantaro ready to come at me angrily.
I was anticipating how much time it would take me to knock him down, considering he's much taller than me, but Valt and Daigo stopped him from letting me work on my anticipation.
"Now easy there," Daigo said tightly, as if holding himself back from something.
Ken moved forward to me. "It's not the same now! You challenged. You made it personal. You have to answer it."
Valt somehow was still feeling as enthusiastic as ever. He repeatedly requested me to say yes. Plus, he didn't seem worried about the fact that I just picked a fight with his friend. Maybe that was Rantaro's normal temper.
"Please," Valt insisted.
Again, why is it so hard to refuse him?
