IT WAS PROGRESS REPORT WEEK AND LORELEI WAS FAILING ONE OF HER COURSES. There was only so much Leo could help on and Lorelei has never been the brightest in terms of school or just anything in general. Lorelei did try her best to pay attention to her classes and participate, but it was very hard for her to stay focused on the tasks. It takes time for her to learn new subjects and most teachers just explain one or two times and then expect everyone to understand.

Despite the news, Lorelei didn't want this to affect her. She always tried looking at the bright side of things and keep a smile on her face. That's what her mother always told her, and Lorelei liked to live up by it. Every memory she had of her mother were filled with smiles and laughter, and thinking about them made Lorelei happy.

But it was difficult to remove the frown on her face when she approached her friends, the progress report paper in her hands. Bree, Adam, and Leo were standing by the lockers and the three immediately noticed her change in mood.

"Are you okay, Lori?" Leo asked, the expression on his sister's face more than enough to know something was wrong.

The blonde sigh, passing him the paper in her hands. "I'm failing one of my classes."

"Which one is it?" He looked down at the paper. "Chemistry? What teacher do you have?"

"Mr. Bartholomew." Lorelei said, a bitter tone in her voice.

"That makes sense. The man does not know how to explain anything. He probably got tired of teaching and just wants to retire." Leo passed the paper back to Lorelei. "Don't worry, Lori. Perhaps you could ask Chase for help. I think he also takes chemistry with your teacher."

"Yeah, and even if he doesn't, I'm sure he can help you." Bree added with a smile.

Before Lorelei could reply, Chase turned the corner, his shoes letting out a squeak at how fast he was walking. "Look at this! An A-minus!" He showed them his paper. "I knew my home EC teacher had it out for me. Always criticizing my muffins."

Adam who had been occupied with his locker, turned to Chase with a grin. "Ha Ha! I beat you! I got a D-plus! Plus because I'm better." He straighten his report card, proudly displaying it to his younger brother.

"Adam, the plus is— you know what? It's just not even worth it anymore." Bree said making Lorelei frown. The blonde didn't understand what had been wrong with Adam's statement. He did get a grade with a plus on it, that must have been a good sign. But she wasn't about to speak on it, her grades weren't really the best to begin with.

"D is not a good grade, but we don't really expect you to get good grades." Chase told Adam and then turned to the others. "I'm engineered to be the smartest person on the planet. And I just got an A-minus. I've been relegated to the huddled, unwashed masses of minuses, like you!"

Lorelei decided to space out after that, not wanting to hear any more things about grades in the very moment. Her attention was later taken by the colorful lights inside Adam's locker. His books were all placed on the top shelf and he had figurines of dinosaurs and other animals all over the place, pictures and stickers glued on the walls, and a small whiteboard with a to do list hanging on the door. "Wow, Adam. You already decorated your locker?"

"Yeah! Isn't it cool?" He pulled on the green sling toy that was hanging on the middle of the locker. "Ta da!"

Lorelei grinned, giggling as she also tugged on the sling toy. "Where did you get this? I want one."

"I actually stole it from the art teacher. She had a lot of them." Adam said. "I could get you one if you want. What's your favorite color?"

"Purple." Lorelei replied her attention still on the toy.

"I'll try finding a purple one, then." Adam hoped his action could lift the blonde spirits, remembering how sad she looked moments before.

And surprisingly it did work. "Thank you, Adam!" Lorelei said, finally looking back up at Adam to smile at him.

"Chase The Dream?" Lorelei read out loud while looking down at the card Chase had given her. It had a picture of Chase with the slogan Chase The Dream on it and the American flag blurred out in the background. "Since when have you been running for presidency? Aren't you supposed to be super old?"

"I'm not running to be a president." Chase shook his head. "This is for the student of the semester competition."

The blonde made an o shape with her mouth when she remembered. She looked back down at the card wondering why he had placed the flag in the background of his card. Lorelei thought he should've placed something more eye-catching like money or a nice landscape. He was, after all, talking about a dream and who didn't dream of money or a beautiful paradise to live in?

"What do you guys think?" Chase asked, now directing his attention to Adam, Bree, and Leo. He crossed his arms over his chest with giddy smile on his face, ready to hear what opinions they held.

Leo who was also looking down at Chase's card said, "What do i think, or what's appropriate to say to your face?"

Chase smiled faltered and Lorelei felt bad for him. Although the card and the slogan was not the best she had seen, she'll be willing to support him in his campaign for student of the semester as long as it made him happy.

Bree took the card from Lorelei's hand. "Chase The Dream? Please do not give these to anyone a might what to become friends with."

Bree's words didn't take away Chase determination as he tried to explain himself. "I've got a whole plan. Check it out." He urged them to follow him. The group now in front of the main entrance. "I even linked the latest facial recognition software to the school database to create a laser automated attendance system."

Right in that moment a boy walked through the door. An orange laser scanned his figure and then Chase's voice came in through the tv above the door frame. "Andrew Lamb has been late three days in a row."

The security guard that was standing beside the door took the boy by the arm. Chase then pointed to Perry's office. "Straight to the principal's office, Andy." Chase smiled, "He'll thank me later for putting him in the right path."

"Good luck!" Lorelei yelled after the boy, knowing he was in for a tough ride.

Adam moved closer to Chase with a disapproving look. "Oh, dude, you're never gonna win with that. Kids want fun stuff like Jacuzzis in math class and hallways paved with candy."

Lorelei could not agree more with what Adam said, but she didn't want to make Chase feel bad so she instead addressed what she had just witnessed seconds before. "Chase, you can't make students like you, if you do what you just did."

"Why not?" The boy asked, not seeing anything wrong with his actions.

"You just send that poor boy to Principal Perry's office." Lorelei paused, trying to think of the worst thing possible. "That's like death."

"Actually, it's worse than death." Leo objected, "Going to Principal Perry's office is like an agonizing torture transformed into pant suits and cat hair." Lorelei nodded and shuddered at the memory of being in Perry's office. She did not want to be there ever again which was why she needed to get her grade to a passing grade asap. Hopefully, Chase could help her. She still hadn't made his apology cake but she hoped he had already forgiven her enough to give her some tutoring lessons.

"Ohh! And i also think biology would be a lot more fun if we could juggle the frogs before we dissected them." Adam said, adding to his previous comment.

"That's frog abuse." Leo said and shared a disturbed look with Bree.

"Fine, we'll do it after, but it's gonna get messy." Adam made an expression of disgust, the thought not looking as fun anymore.

The first thing Lorelei did once she got to the cafeteria was serve herself a full glass of juice. Then she grabbed a plate and ignored the utensils. There was no use in her grabbing them when she was planning on giving Adam her food. The blonde normally would wait until Leo will get there but the boy had told her he wouldn't be grabbing lunch that day, so Lorelei slid her tray beside Adam's as the two began putting food in their plates.

Lorelei looked at what Adam grabbed before doing the same, except for a cupcake she had seen and wanted to try. She added fries to her plate and a piece of bread just like Adam did, then once Adam caught sight of the meat his eyes widened. "Ohh! Turkey!" He grabbed a piece before his attention was taken again. "Ohh! Gravy!"

This time instead of adding a normal portion to his plate, Adam took the whole bucket of gravy and poured it all over his food. Lorelei let out a sound of surprise at the action, putting back the tongs she had used to grab the turkey as she turned to Adam.

"Isn't that too much gravy?"

"Oh, Lori. There's never too much gravy." Adam said as he placed the now empty bucket back in its original place, not caring about the glare the lunch lady was giving him.

There was a scanner at the end of the line and when Adam slide his trey underneath, it flashed red and a voice from the scanner said. "Step away from the gravy!"

"Don't tell me what to do, turkey!" Adam said looking down at his plate.

Lorelei's eyes widened as she tried looking over Adam's shoulder. "The turkey can talk? Isn't it dead?"

Chase walked up to the pair. "Adam, that's my nutritional scanner, insuring that everyone gets a perfectly balanced nutritious lunch."

"Chase, I don't think your scanner's a very good idea." Adam told his brother and made his way to the table they had all unofficially claimed as theirs after the whole football team and pudding cups thing had been over with.

"Of course it is! Who doesn't love being told how to eat properly?"

Lorelei slide her tray under the scanner making it flash red once again and Chase's voice to say. "Too much juice." The blonde narrowed her eyes at the scanner and turned to Chase. "I don't like being told how to eat properly."

The blonde moved to take a seat next to Adam. She took her glass of juice and her cupcake before passing her tray towards Adam who accepted it more than happy. As Lorelei drank a bit of her juice she watched the next few students in line pass through the scanner. "More green beans?....Too many fries.... A cupcake? Really? I wouldn't, but it's your health."

Lorelei turned around in her seat to look at Chase. "Hey! I also grabbed a cupcake."

From beside Lorelei, Adam let out a groan. "Chase, you're going about this all wrong. Let me help! Look, I know how to win you votes." He stood up and left the cafeteria. Lorelei and Chase shared confused looks before Lorelei turned back around to eat her cupcake.

Both stayed in silence until Lorelei's thoughts drifted back to her grades. "Chase, so I was wondering, do you think you could help me bring my chemistry grade up? I'm failing the class right now and I would really like to avoid ending up in Principal Perry's office."

The boy considered her words for a few seconds before nodding. "Sure! I can help you."

Lorelei lightened up at his words and grinned at him. "Thank you so much, Chase! I promise once Tasha buys the baking soda, I'll bake you your cake. Don't think I forgot about it." She took a big gulp of her juice and rose from her seat. "Tell Adam I had to leave. I'm going to go find Leo to tell him the news. Thank you again!" The blonde gave him a quick hug before making her way out of the cafeteria to find her brother.

When Lorelei left Adam and Chase in the cafeteria, she hadn't expected them to begin a war with each other over who could get most votes to win student of the semester, but here they were. Bree also told her about how Leo had been using her as his own personal taxi to take him to his art class and wanted to take revenge on him for lying to her. In Leo's progress report, his art teacher had mentioned his many tardies and the boy knew better than being late again and letting Tasha find out about it.

Lorelei decided to stay out of all of it. She didn't want to be in the middle of something that didn't involve her. But when Adam asked if she knew where he could get some massage chairs, she couldn't tell him no. So, she helped him set up a foot massage center in the hallway. He said it would help him win votes and Lorelei agreed. Sometimes the constant going up and down the stairs made her feet felt like their were killing her, so some foot massaging was something she would not oppose to.

In the other side of the hallway, Chase placed a hamburger stand for the students to eat at. He seemed to have finally grasp on the subject that the more fun his ideas were, the more votes he would receive from the students. Lorelei tried one of his burgers and they were ten times better than the burgers the lunch ladies served. After that, Lorelei left the brothers alone to continue their doings. It didn't take long for the reveal of the student of the semester to happen. Lorelei, Adam, and Leo stood in front of Perry's office to hear the winner.

"This is it, the moment we've all been waiting for." Chase stated as he walked up to the three.

Adam gasped. "They found a talking horse that fights crime?"

"Stray Kids is going to visit the school, give us a free concert, and tell me they love me?" Lorelei asked, grinning at the thought.

"No. It's the student of the semester results." Leo corrected, making Lorelei's smile to leave her face and turn into a pout. "Miss Thistle gets to open the results because she's the oldest teacher in the school."

Lorelei followed Leo's gaze and watched the old lady struggle to open the envelope. "Shouldn't she retire? Who wants to be here all their life?"

"Agreed, she's taking too long." Chase said, the longer the lady took, the more impatient he was growing. She kept turning the envelope front to back, trying to find a way to open it. Chase couldn't take it anymore and approached the lady. "Oh, just give me the stupid thing!"

He snatched the paper from Miss Thistle, then he saw the looks the students around him send him. "I mean...let me help you, ma'am." The woman gave him a nod and Lorelei moved closer to Chase as he opened the envelope. "Yes! Yes, yes, yes! I.........tied with Adam?"

Adam jumped happily. "Yes! I half-won!." He hugged Chase and lifted him up.

"Put me down!" Adam let Chase go and the shorter one turned to Miss Thistle. "There must be some mistake. Maybe you missed a few." The woman shook her hand to tell him no. "Count again, please!"

Leo took Chase by the boy's forearms. "No, Chase, she not gonna make it through another count."

"Yeah, let the poor woman go." Lorelei added, "There's nothing bad with being in a tie with Adam. At least the two of you won." The blonde tried keeping things positive but her words didn't seem to reason with Chase.

"No, Lori. How am I supposed to reclaim my superiority if I get tied with someone, let alone Adam?" Chase said before taking his leave.

From the other side of the hall, Bree closed her locker, unknowingly catching Leo's attention. "Oh, I've got to go. My ride's here."

Lorelei sigh and made her way to her locker. Sadly, she had to go back to using a combination given Principal Perry had ordered for her door to be put back into place a few days after Adam had removed it. The blonde placed her backpack inside, not seeing the point on taking it home when she didn't have any homework due the following day. Once her stuff was inside her locker, she made her way back home.

The next day Bree caught her up on what happened once Adam and Chase arrived at the house. Lorelei had taken a long nap right after school so she had missed out on Adam and Chase's fight in the lab. The two brothers had to turn in an essay explaining why they should be student of the semester and depending on whose essay was the best, that person will be the winner.

Lorelei and Bree walked through the school doors, and the latter pulled Lorelei by her arm to take a look at the bulletin board that was placed in the office where both essays were being displayed. Removing the pin holding up Adam's essay, Bree took a quick glance at it. "There's something not right about this."

Lorelei frowned. "Why do you say that?"

"Come on." Bree urged as she and Lorelei walked side by side out of the office.

The sound of the intercom turning on sounded in the halls and Principal Perry's voice announced. "And the student of the semester is....Adam Davenport!"

Adam hollered, turning to his brother. "Whoo-hoo! I beat you!" He wrapped his arm around Chase's neck and with his other hand made a fist to imitate the action of feeding. "Eat it! Eat the defeat! Open your mouth!"

"Okay, Adam."

"Lick the spoon! Lick it!" Adam insisted successfully aggravating his younger brother.

"All right! That's enough."

Adam let go of Chase and went to celebrate with the other students that were standing in the middle of the hallway. Lorelei and Bree walked up to Chase. "Uh, Chase, something's not right with Adam's essay." Bree said then she opened the paper to read it. "I should be student of the semester because I'm tall, I'm happy, and I will let you have dogs in the library."

Lorelei smiled at the mention of dogs. She has always wanted to have a dog but the owners of the apartment complex Tasha used to live at didn't allow any pets and Lorelei didn't think Mr. Davenport would allow her to have any dogs in his house.

"So? What's wrong with that?" Chase acted clueless.

"Adam would have misspelled library." Bree stated. "Adam would have misspelled dogs."

"I always misspell library." Lorelei quietly admitted.

"Okay, fine. I wrote it, put his name on it, and tanked my own essay." Chase revealed and Lorelei stared at him in surprise. It must have been hard for him to put his ego aside. "He had good ideas and deserved to win. So I got one A-minus. I guess I can't be perfect at everything."

Lorelei smiled at the boy, happy the whole fight between the brother's was over. "That was very nice of you, Chase."

Bree shook her head and squeezed her brother's shoulder. "Chase, that's not true. You're not perfect at a lot of things."

The girl moved away from Chase to open her locker and Lorelei did the same, almost forgetting she had placed all her stuff inside the locker the day before. It would've been embarrassing getting to class without her stuff with her. A honk of a horn came from behind them and the two girls turned around to see Leo parking Adam's party bus in the middle of the hallway. The car was a bright yellow with red flames decorating it, blue led lights underneath it, and posters of Adam's face and a slogan that said A Vote For Me...Is a Vote For Me!! placed in front and on the sides of the car.

"Hey, Bree, good news! I found a new way to make it to class on time! Let's do it!" Leo exclaimed. Lorelei quickly made her way to the back seat of the car with Bree and Chase following after her. Leo moved to the side to allow Adam to take the wheel.

"Buckle up, guys! I'm hitting the afterburner all the way to art class!" Adam said, making them all put their seatbelts as fast as they could. Lorelei took a hold of the handle bars on the side of the car as Adam started the car again and speed down the hallway. She had to say that was one—if not the best moment she had at school so far.

This was shorter than the last few chapters because I didn't feel like adding Lori to every scene. I was actually going to skip this episode but I had already started so I decided not to 🤷🏻‍♀️

Next chapter is going to be more fun and probably longer, so stay tuned for that.

You guys would probably kill me once you find out I was going to add another cute scene between Adam and Lori but then decided not to 🧌

I also don't have memes today......

Please forgive me
