taehyung - request

for my precious luna, TaesWolfie

Taehyung closes the worn out book with a sigh, resting it on his lap as he takes the final sip of his lukewarm coffee. Grimacing slightly at the taste, he stands, returning the book to its rightful place on the shelf situated in the corner of his room. He brushes his fingers along the spine of it, the corners of his mouth lifting his lips up into a nostalgic smile.

'Fairy Tales from Fren,' it reads, the book so worn out that some of the letters have faded. Taehyung doesn't mind though. The book has sentimental value, worth much more to him than anything he owns.

You see, growing up Taehyung never had many friends, leading him to have an awfully lonely childhood. He would always find himself feeling a little out of place with all his classmates, feeling as if he were destined to be elsewhere. One night of snooping through his grandma's house lead him to her small collection of old books, each one looking more intriguing than the next. However, his gaze was drawn to the book resting on his grandma's chair, the pages turning themselves in the light breeze.

Of course, young Taehyung sat and read every page, not even bothered by the morning rays of sunshine seeping in through the window to wake the people in the house up. He was too enraptured by the tales that this book retold. Since that day, he hasn't been able to part from it.

He twists his wrist towards his face, mumbling the time depicted on his watch out loud before gasping, his tendencies to lose track of time once again getting the better of him.

"Shit, I'm late!" He exclaims to no-one in particular as he grabs his briefcase and tie, sprinting down his hallway with little to no grace. Managing to get to the door with minimal injury, he fumbles breathlessly around with the keys while his socked feet try to insert themselves into his dress shoes. Unable to do both, he defeatedly crouches down and fixes his shoes up before trying the key again, this time slowly, grinning when it opens with a soft creak.

Miraculously enough, Taehyung makes it to the station with five minutes to spare. Sighing heavily, he sets his briefcase in between his legs and does his tie, licking his chapped lips as the people of the city carelessly brush past him. He tightens the tie around his neck before letting his hands fall limply to his side.

He notices the way some people eye him as they pass, their gazes making Taehyung feel self conscious. Surely, he looks a mess. Running in the wind certainly won't do anything flattering to a person but he swore he didn't look that bad when passing the reflective surface of a garbage can a few moments earlier. Pouting, he runs his fingers through his hair before spending some time organising a few strands.

By the time he's done and confidently puffing his chest out, the train arrives, sending another rush of wind through his honey brown locks. Cursing under his breath, he picks up his briefcase and joins the mass of people pushing to claim a seat on the train. He keeps his gaze on his shoes, politely smiling at the people who disembark the train and ask him to move.

He finally gets a chance to step on board, noticing that a short girl with flowing brown locks seems to be stepping off beside him. Looking down upon her, he smiles gently, finding the way she clutches her oddly shaped bag to her chest cute. His smile widens when she slowly looks up to meet his gaze for a fleeting second, her own warm smile greeting him like the sun on a cloudy day. His lips part in shock, words getting caught in his throat as he gets lost in her violet eyes, those beautiful orbs of hers laced with drops of liquid gold.

She stumbles out into the crowd, blending in almost immediately. He shakes his head, cheeks reddening as he tries to process what he just saw, hand shooting out to fit in between the closing doors. He apologises to the grumbling passengers and steps off, immediately breaking out into a jog to try and catch up with her.

There's no way she can be...it's not real.

He spots her bag, glistening in the soft sunlight and grins, squeezing past people to try and reach her. She follows the crowd, looking almost clueless as to where she's going and even though he can't see her face, Taehyung can bet that she's sporting a content smile with an adventurous glint in those wonderful eyes of hers. He knows the look all too well.

She finally stops, slipping herself into a gap in between two stores. Heart racing, Taehyung huffs, adjusting his glasses before casually walking up to the same gap. He mentally prepares himself on what to say to her, smiling confidently as he slides himself into the gap. Only, his smile turns into a look of awe as drops of glitter rain down onto his suit. But how? She was just here.

Looking around him in confusion, Taehyung begins to rethink his sanity. I swear she just walked into here. Scrubbing a hand down his face, he sighs, about to walk away when a piece of pink paper catches his eye. Crouching down, he picks it up with his fingers, wasting no time in unfolding it.

"I think it's time for some introductions, Mr. Kim, since you certainly find me intriguing enough to follow me. Meet me here at 8. P.S. wear sneakers," Taehyung reads aloud, a breathless laugh pushing past his lips. He'd be crazy to show up and meet some random chick with pretty eyes.

Pocketing the note, he walks down the street with a certain bounce in his step, already planning what he's going to wear tonight.

But as he mentally goes through his closet while messaging his boss some half ass excuse as to why he's not at work, he can't help but wonder how this mysterious lady knew his name.

*

He bursts into his apartment, carelessly throwing his belongings on the floor as he makes a beeline for his shelf, panting heavily with an ecstatic smile tugging at his plump lips. His hands automatically grab at his book, carrying it to his desk, flipping through the pages as his eyes frantically scan the faces of all the characters.

He takes a heavy seat and pushes his glasses back up the bridge of his nose, running a hand through his hair as he flips to the centre of the book. His heart stops, gulping loudly as he stares at the drawing printed onto the worn out paper.

There the lady stands, a natural sunny glow to her skin and a bounce in her brown waves. Her wings seem to shine in the sketched sunlight, the light blue hue of them reflecting gorgeously into the lake drawn below her. She dons a bright, dimpled grin, violet eyes holding that adventurous glint that he so vividly imagined her having as he followed her down the streets. He drags his fingers down the page, the tiniest of gasps leaving his mouth as he realises that his dreams may just come true.

He shrugs himself into a loose hoodie, studying himself in the fogged up mirror as he slides his glasses on with a lip bite. Feeling pleased with the subtle effort he put into his outfit choice, he collects his phone, wallet and keys, pocketing them with a giddy giggle.

He checks his watch and sighs, leaving his cold apartment with a rush of adrenaline pumping energy into his bloodstream. The smile on his face never leaves as he walks down to the little gap, hands shaking in the pocket of his hoodie with anticipation.

He discreetly slides himself into the gap, standing in the same spot he was in earlier that morning. He patiently rocks on his heels, whistling a tune that gets carried away by the light breeze. His eyes scan the sky, following the path of a plane when his eyes catch a faint light in the corner of the gap. Focusing his attention on the glow, his whistle falters into a breath of relief.

"Taehyung?" A gentle voice calls, a small head that's covered by a hood poking out from behind the wall. Taehyung takes a deep breath in, savouring the way his name rolled off her tongue before allowing himself to speak.

"Yeah, it's me," he replies, licking his dry lips as she shuffles out into the light. Keeping her head lowered, she pulls her hood off, her hair falling down to her shoulders. She clears her throat, hands reaching up to play with the soft locks. Taehyung chuckles, hooking his finger under her chin to get her to lift her head up.

And so she does.

Her wide eyes meet his, the colour in them more vibrant than what they were in the morning. There is a shyness to her, hesitation in her body movements and a softness in her voice as she hums that he has never seen in anyone before. As he looks into her eyes he knew, all the beauty of the universe could not even hope to compete with this simple thing of beauty swimming in her pools of violet heaven: innocence.

He sighs dreamily, offering her a warm smile. "Hi."

"Hello," she returns with a giggle, ducking her head to hide her blush. His heart hammers dangerously against his rib cage, his ears turning red with embarrassment. She looks up at him again, cupping his cheeks to pull his face closer to hers. He squeaks in surprise—the sound anything but manly—as he watches her calculating eyes take in every detail of his face.

"You're not what I expected, Taehyung," she confesses, flashing him a cute smile, the sight of her adorable dimples calming his raging nerves. "Certainly more handsome than what I had envisioned, I must admit."

"What do you mean by that?" He asks, hoping she can't tell that he's blushing like a madman because of her compliment. She hums, dropping her hands to her side and taking a few steps back to create a comfortable distance in between the two of them.

"Meaning when I had been sent to find you, I thought you'd be like me but I'm pleasantly surprised to see that you aren't. Although it makes things a little harder," she trails off, tapping a finger against her chin as if in deep thought. He tsks in annoyance, flicking her on the forehead to gain her attention.

She rubs at the spot, scowling at him.

"What are you? And find me? Why were you looking for me of all people?" He bluntly asks, hoping that he didn't sound too rude. She beams at him, her anger disappearing within seconds as she grabs his shaking hand and giggles.

"Now to tell you that, we'll have to go somewhere a little more private."

He's too focused on the way her small and oddly warm hand clutches his tightly to notice that they've arrived at the local garden, the gates suspiciously open. She doesn't mind it though and skips her way into the rows of flowers that seem to lift the minute she passes them.

He watches in wonder, pausing by a bench as he opts for admiring her silently. She twirls and laughs with glee, the glow around her growing brighter with every passing second. She suddenly stops and spins on her heels, squinting into the darkness, her eyes lighting up when she spots Taehyung by the gazebo.

"Silly, I thought I lost you," she scolds, taking a dramatic seat on the bench and patting the space next to her. He chuckles and sits beside her, awkwardly playing with his hands. She studies his side profile for a few seconds before standing with a soft smile, different to the bright ones Taehyung has been blessed to see.

"You wanted to know what I am. Judging by that look in your eyes, I trust you already know," Taehyung's heart speeds up at her words, "but I'll show you anyway."

She slides out of her hoodie, rolling her shoulders with a wince. He furrows his brows in confusion when he doesn't see anything different. She meets his eye and laughs, shaking her head as she rolls her shoulders once more and two sparkling wings pop out.

"Holy shit," he breathlessly mutters, standing slowly to approach her. She smiles proudly and does a spin to show off her assets. The light blue catches the moonlight, looking ethereal against the backdrop of blooming flowers and midnight sky.

To hell with it, she looks ethereal.

She lowers herself to the ground, finding it amusing to watch the way Taehyung hesitantly reaches his hands out to touch her wings.

"Go on," she urges, twisting them towards him. "They won't bite."

He brushes his hand against them, laughing in shock when she jumps, complaining about how it tickles. Standing back to admire her more, he sighs, stomach erupting in butterflies.

"A fairy," he mutters, meeting her gaze with his own. "You're the fairy from my book. My grandma...did she know?"

"Your grandma was always a believer, Taehyung," she smiles, tucking her wings away. "It's part of why I'm here, actually."

He takes her hand and leads her back to the bench, crossing his legs as he turns to face her, eager to here why she was looking for him. She smiles sadly, puffing out her chest.

"My name is Y/N, Princess of Fren. Your grandma was one of the very few that solely put their belief in us. I'm sure you already know this from that book of yours but our home runs of the power of belief. The more we have, the healthier we are. Sadly, with your grandma's death, we lost a huge part of our energy," she places her hand on top of his as she speaks, closing her eyes.

"My parents lost hope, knowing very well that our world will die. But I refused to let that be the end of us so I went hunting. Hunting for someone that had stronger energy, more than what your grandma could ever offer us. I've been everywhere, debating between keeping my search up or just going home. Then I felt something when I stepped foot into Seoul. In here," she taps her heart, smiling sheepishly at him.

"I had searched everywhere and got on that train by accident. It just so happens that I ran into you," she nudges his shoulder with a grin. "I knew you were her grandson the minute I caught a glimpse of your eyes. Just walking past you filled me with energy that I hadn't had in weeks. You have the belief that we need. Taehyung, you're the one to save my people."

She stares at him, panting slightly from her rushed speech. He doesn't say anything, the information he has to process making his head spin. She sighs, dropping her shoulders in defeat.

"You seem sceptical," she murmurs, hand slipping off his. He sits up straight, alert as he snatches her hand up into his with a panicked look in his eyes.

"I'm not, promise. I just...don't know what you want me to do," he admits, shuffling closer to her so that her scent of caramel and butterscotch make him feel a little more at ease. She searches his eyes before pushing herself onto her knees, leaning up so that her nose is a few centimetres away from his.

"Come back home with me. My people will absolutely adore you!" She pleads, clasping her hands together in a beg.

He stutters.

How am I supposed to leave everything I have here? All my....wait, what do I have here?

He ponders on this thought for a few moments, reflecting on the fact that he has no friends, his job sucks worse than the watery coffee he forces himself to drink each morning because he doesn't have the money to buy a new coffee machine, and his apartment is literally peeling apart.

Looking at the fairy in front of him, he smiles.

"When do we leave?"

*

He strolls out of his room with his backpack and suitcase, eyes landing on Y/N as she swings her legs from the table she sits on top of, munching on an apple.

"Ready?" She asks, throwing the core into the bin by her feet. He scans his apartment for the last time, mentally ticking off everything on his to-pack list before nodding. She gives him a look of disbelief and crosses her arms, pushing all her weight onto her left side.

"Go check again," she orders, reclaiming her seat on his table. Sighing, he turns and jogs to his room, checking underneath his bed and in his closet. Nothing. He's about to leave when he glances over at his bookshelf, cursing when he sees his beloved book still laying there.

"Oopsies," he mumbles as he remerges from his room, the book now safely packed in his suitcase with all his clothes. She chuckles and links her arm through his, walking him out of the building and down the street.

"You'll be staying with me until you get used to the way things work there. Once you are used to it, you are able to find a place of your own and get settled in," Y/N explains, cuddling up into his side when a breeze hits the two of them.

"And what if I want to stay with you?" He questions innocently, looking down to see her glancing at him with her eyebrows raised.

"That can be arranged," she smirks, pulling him into the gap. He stands to the side as she continues forward and closes her eyes, hands raising as purple mist shoots out from her fingertips. Soon enough, a spiralling cloud of mist rests in front of them, looking inviting and warm.

She holds out her hand, looking expectantly back at Taehyung.

He gulps and takes it with a certain smile, nervously excited for what his new life holds for him.
